[HELP] I lose my space on phone! - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, I don't know what's going on but after using any ROM for a couple of weeks (sometimes months) something happens and I phone keep downloading something from internet I believe and I have ~100 kb space left on phone. It keeps forcing me to turn programs off (that notification on middle of screen) and... I can't even receive calls from others becuase of phoe.app - force close.
Don't really know how to deal with it, I can't even boot my phone though USB because of ROM I'm actually using The Ultimatum V.4.0.
My programs:
- 9gag
- Adobe Reader
- App Cache Cleaner
- ColorNote
- Gazeta.pl (news from my country)
- Gmail
- Last.fm
- Messenger
- mobileMPK (also poland only app for means of tranposrt schedule)
- Opera mini
- Weather app
- SnapSave
- Youtube
That's my apps, rest are installed with that Ultimatum ROM.
I'm using it for a long time and nothing happens but then THIS apperas. I don't have any strenght to deal with it anymore, usually I need to reboot my phone X times until I have ~15 MB space again and I don't wanna it to be only solution.
Anybody experienced this before?
btw. It happens with other ROMs too.
Looking forward for solutions.
Have nice day!

All you have to do is increase you internal memory using scripts. You can try CronMod Script. Just create a ext partition on your SD Card and you are good to go. Make sure to backup the SD Card before you create the ext partition. To create an ext partition on your SD Card, go to CWM> Advanced> Partition SD Card> Size (max 1GB, anymore and system will lag)> Swap (0 MB) wait for it to say "Partitioning Done!". Now just flash CronMod Int2Ext.zip as usual by mounting /data from CWM. Here is the link,
CronMod-INT2EXT
Follow the instruction in the thread. Download Int2Ext as it is much more stable that others. Hope I Helped

Nexus One - Diagnosing lagginess?

heya,
I have a Nexus One, with 2.2 FRF83. I've been using it for a few weeks, installed a few Apps etc.
I also have another Nexus One, that I just bought for a friend, it also has 2.2 FRF83, but it's a fresh factory restore.
I've noticed that her's appears snappier, for instance swiping through home screen, opening up apps, the zoom effects when you go to Applications etc.
Is it somehow possible to find out why exactly this slowdown is occurring? I know Android, with the way it handles memory management and background processes is suppose to be quite clever, and it shouldn't matter what you have installed/running. But would uninstalling apps help? Or is it a misbehaving app? Or some setting I've set?
The apps I have installed are:
ACV
Adobe Flash Player 10.1
Astrid Tasks
ASTRO
Athg2sms V1.2
Barcode Scanner
CadreBible
Calculator
ConnectBot
Credit Usage
DNS Lookup
Dropbox
Gesture Search
Go! Sydney

GTD Timer
handyCalc

SMS Backup & Restore
SNesoid Lite
StopWatch
SuperGNES Lite
Swype
SystemPanel Lite

Using SystemPanel Lite, I have
/system - 145Mb capacity, 24.9Mb available
/data - 196.3 Mb capacity, 92.9 Mb available
/cache - 95.0 Mb capacity, 92.8 Mb available
/mnt/sdcard - 3831.5 Mb available, 1138.9 Available
In my Active Applications list right now, I have

I also have around 2000 SMSes, but I'm not sure why that would affect say, scrolling through Settings, or swiping through home screens.

Oh man, 1 MFLOP, that's no good, and didn't think it was possible on the N1. Wipe and start over and you should be fine.

1 mflop @ linkpack? 2.1 has 3-4 i think and 2.2 should have 35-40.
I would also do a complete wipe and start from scratch.

I wiped and start from scratch numerous times. When i first using it, it would get around 38-40 mflop. Then it would go down the drain from there. Sometime i can't reach 1 mflop. Hope i dont have a hardware issue.

[Q] Switching from CM5.0.7 to CM 6.0 RC2?

hi, I heard a lot of good stuff about CM 6.0, so I was wondering how I should begin to upgrade. I have bricked a g1 before, so I am afraid to do any more flashing without specific directions.
I have two micro sd cards,a 1gb(class2) and 8gb(class6). The 8gb card has apps from apps2sd and an ext partition, so I was wondering if I can just flash the rom with the 1 gb card and just put in the 8 gb card with no problems? I do not really mind if my call logs/texts do not get backed up as long as my apps work.
Info:
firmware: 2.1-update1
baseband: 62.50sc.20.17h_2.22.23.02
kernel: 2.6.33.4-cyanogen mod [email protected]toxygene #1
mod version: cyanogen-5.0.7-DS
Thank you. hope to hear from you guys soon.

I just flashed CM 6.0.0 DS RC2 from the site referenced:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/04/26/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-htc-g1-dream/
Very good step by step and you can download ROMS from there also.
As far as your SD cards I'd stick with the 8GB. (1) It's faster, (2) according to instructions you have to re-format so you have a swap partition-96MB, ext2-512MB and the rest fat32. Not sure that flashing with the 1GB and then switching to the 8GB would work--anyone ?
The ROM is very cool but I've noticed a couple glitches, maybe it's just me.
Market takes forever on 3G or wifi. It works, just no where near as fast as it seemed to on 1.6.
Now this problem is making me try other ROMS.
Example: I have Weather and toggle widgets app that I loaded and then place the widget so I have my nice clock but seems every time I reboot, for whatever reason, the widget won't reload, and if I try to re-install from the widget list it's not there. The app is still on the phone, but no access to the widget.
This is not the only app this has happened with. Possibly older apps with newer ROM issue. I checked the compatibility button in settings but no change.
I'm far from an expert, just a heads up.
Other than these couple things, killer ROM.
Technically these aren't tagged as stable ROMS but I'm having fun playing with all of them.
Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, I already went ahead and flashed CM 6.0RC2, the only problem I noticed is the lag when going to home from an app (camera, facebook, etc) and sometimes the phone would mute and I would have to reboot to fix it (Very annoying, but will stick with it for now)

Just a suggestion : maybe try this one : Htcclay's Superfly G1 d/s v1.1 - Froyo 2.2. Has ROM Manager on it with Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Battery life is very good, 3hrs @ 65% with heavy use, and the memory is absolutely the best. Still have 68MB open on internal memory. Most apps on SD. gmail app is changed, for the better, couple new options. The one and only pain is market, which is also a bit slow on this one. I'll live with it.
No glitches, no mystery reboots and widgets are staying put. Seems very very stable. Evidently you haven't had the couple small issues I had. I've tried 5 different ROMS today and slight issues with all but this one is really, really good.
Think I found the Rom I'm sticking with.
Gotta give props to cyanogen and all the xda folks for all the development, recommendations, and suggestions.
G1 has been sitting for months and I finally got the nerve to flash. Glad I did it, got a new phone and can't put it down.
thanks guys.

As far as I know. I have 767 backup apps on my SD card right now. Tell ya what. Been playing with this all day and observed a few things.
Get yourself - atrack dog (SD) backup, run it, takes a few minutes depending on how many apps, it'll list every backup app ya got on SD, "with" the "icons" showing. Either install apps you want from your SD or do new version tracking and see what you can upgrade. Also apps on internal storage are listed at the end of the SD list so no need to get the regular atrack dog.
Can you imagine trying to figure out which app is which with a file explorer just by the brief description ? After install atrack takes you right back to where you left off, unlike installing through file explorers. So much easier this way.
One thing though, things like weather apps, clocks and such, put on your internal memory, (starts with approx 89MB with this ROM), found that the slight delay running apps from SD screws **** up. I still have approx 65MB internal memory left, ball park 200 apps installed.
With this ROM after rebooting, give it a few extra minutes to boot completely. Apps on SD take a little to load their icons, I assume because of the delay loading from the SD card, or you'll end up with the same generic icon for all of them.
Once up and running though your good.
Absolutely Killer ROM........

Just "google" froyo themes and there's a bunch. Search Icons or widgets in Market and a big list will pop up for ya.
That background pic on the home screen wasn't one I would've picked so I just changed it.

[Q] My phone runs slow - so many apps open - why ?

I think there are flaws to the way android operates. Let's take Windows operating system for example. I have hundreds and hundreds of programs, software and applications -- but is it running all the time? Nope.
When I reboot my Android phone, I hit the "advanced task manager" widget to close all running apps (sometimes I get 45-50). About 2 mins later I do it again (and now 30 close)
The question begs to be asked. Why, if they are being closed, are they opening up again by themselves ? How do I make it so they don't open up by themselves ?
The "auto-killer" in the task manager is set at the highest level (insane) and yet it STILL has 20-30 apps "open" every time I hit task manager.
This phone is incredibly laggy.
(2.1 eclair, stock, no root, no OCLF)
Those apps aren't actually running and eating cpu cycles, they are stored in ram so when you do open one of them or another app requests them it doesn't take so long or lag. If your phone is slow I would do a factor reset because these phone are not slow. Hope that works!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've only had my phone less than a month (after doing a reset because of what I perceived to be a faulty SD issue)
Maybe it's time I should start messing around with the flashing etc.

Says the guy running a speed mod kernal lol
I'd suggest factory reset, plugging into PC and upgrading to v2.2 via Kies, then get v2.2.1 from Kies if you want or samfirmware.com
You can use titanium to backup all your user apps and data, works a treat.
Contacts can be synced with your google account (if they aren't already).
SMS can be backuped if you wish using one of the free apps in the market.

Until I started flashing custom ROMs my SGS was quite laggy...flashing is the way to go, just make sure you do your research. Check the link in my signature for a load of guides.

[Q] Another Android System Battery Thread

Sorry For making another Battery Thread But I'm getting more than 65% in use of the Android System on the Battery
But i Saw this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013469&highlight=android+system&page=4
And then this under the same topic
- Flashed V10F EUR OPEN
- Rooted (follow the guide!)
- Factory Reset
- Updated SuperSU + binary
- Reboot
- Installed Titanium Backup Root Pro
- Re-installed my backed up apps (no mods, no root apps yet!)
- Reboot
- Installed CWM, GPS mod, Camera mod (follow the guides!)
- Reboot
- Uninstalled most of the apps in the Application Manager from LG; SmartWorld, Today+, ...
- Freezed the following apps with Titanium Backup Root Pro:
Quote: - Alarm/Clock
- Application Manager
- Calculator
- Calender
- Calender Widget
- Cell Broadcast
- Chrome
- Downloads
- E-mail
- E-mail Widget
- Face Unlock
- Favorite Contacts Widget
- Finance
- Google+

- SIM Toolkit
- Smart Log Service
- SmartShare
- Social+
- Streaming Player
- Tags
- Talk
- Video Player
- Voice Recorder
- Voice Search
- Weather
- Reboot
- Installed Memory Booster (paid version)
- Installed my other root apps: CPUTuner, Autostart Manager, SDMaid
Quote: - In Autostart Manager I disabled most of the apps I don't want to start after a boot, so I filtered the 'Boot Completed' enablers. And disabled all those unnecessary.
- In CPUTuner I use an Uniform configuration with 2 Triggers (battery 100% and battery 50%). I have 6 Profiles with different CPU clock speeds, governors, I/O, ... settings. If you want details about those I can add them at request.
- Reboot
- Clean-up the device a bit with SDMaid, optimize the databases
- Reboot
- Reboot into Recovery Mode, Wipe the Dalvick Cache

And I did flashed and rooted, but didn't Restore to Factory, also i did upgrade SuperSU and istalled the CWM and then Deleted Dalvik and Paritition cache files
What i wanted to ask, is that after all this should i make a factory reset? if not should i UnInstall only the LG programs and then freeze all the other apps?
Am asking this because it seems alot for me having 70-80% on the Android System usage for the battery
Edit: IDK, for example i consume alot of Battery just for using facebook and the music player, but it's not fair that in my ipod i don't use more than 5% and on the 4x i used 20%
or consuming(airplanemode) even if im not uisng it
Hopefully one day our Mods on here will just take all these threads and roll them into one.
STOP OPENING THREADS ABOUT BATTERY USE!!!
We know there are some problems with it. Solutions have been posted that may help some people. We don't need every person who owns an LG 4X opening s thread to complain about the battery :banghead:

Sorry, but i can't resolve it on my own, and i can't figure it out why i have this problem while other people already fixed it.
Edit: I did a fabric restore and then downloaded GSAM Battery Monitor and it shoed that Android System is using 99% of my battery
In the Easy Battery Saver it says that the Adroid System uses 80% of my charge... And i don't have any apps installed
And in my Battery Settings the Android System is always on 66%-75%, Should i install a custom ROM?

If you don't know, Android System includes:
--Settings
--SystemBackupService
--com.lge.internal
--VpnDialogs
--Smart Log Service
--System Interface
--LGSetupWizard
--Image Updater
--com.android.providers.settings
--Android System
--Key Chain
--com.lge.lockscreen
--Shutdown Monitor
--LGSystemServer
--Task Manager
--LG MLT
--Google Backup Transport
--com.lge.hiddenmenu
--LocMgrProvider
--LockScreenSettings
--Home Selector
--Camera Test
As you can see, its not an app but several, its normal that they are in the top of usage list.
That depends also how you use your phone.
Some of them can be frozen, search in other threads and you'll find a list or screen shots of my frozen apps (if you're interested of course...)

Umm but im not using my phone, I restored it from fabric, and i don't have anything, I'm using wifi and airplane mode, 0% brightness and the Android System at 70%
Also do i need to buy Titanium Backup to freeze them?

70% because once your not using other apps, is logic that those that you use are in the top.
Some of them run in background, thats the reason to freeze them.

[Q] Hardly enough storage to install apps CM10?

I installed the CM10 rom for my xperia x8 e15i following the thread here. It works pretty well and I like the style a lot, but it is rather laggy (even with swap enabled in settings). I can more or less live with the lag, but worse is that I seem to have almost no internal memory left...whenever I try to download an app via the play store I run into insufficent space (I hardly have any apps installed, maybe 4 such as whatsapp, terminal emulator, maps, supsersu).
My internal memory shows total 192mb, used 132mb, available 39mb. But installing something like twitter results in insufficient space error. I even used the LuckyAppManager to move maps etc to sdcard but still I have not much space.
Is this normal when cm10 is installed on the x8? Not sure I can live with so few apps and such lag (6 seconds to load a screen like settings for example or to rotate the screen).
If this is normal for this ROM, could someone recommend me a fast lightweight rom for the x8?
Thanks
I have the same problem!
I've prepared my old x8 for my daughter and after I've installed a ROM (something like v4.1.2 of Android I've found on XDA), but there's not enough space to install anything.
I'm keen to install whatsapp for her, but I only have 31MB free, and whatsapp won't download due to lack of space.
Did you find any solution? maybe I should look for a smaller ROM. Now that I can't install whatsapp I would even settle with a v2.3 ROM or whatever, as long as I can install it.
