What did you do before your home screen closed? Was the phone powered off? Did you press the power button in its center? Can you power off the phone?
Which model is yours?

This just happened yesterday after I used the camera and went through the gallery for a little bit. My power button doesn't lock/turn off the screen anymore, unless the lock screen is the one displayed. It still does all of its other functions properly - just doesn't lock and turn off the screen when I press it if I'm in an app or on the home screen. Anyone have any idea what happened and how it can be fixed??
It's a pain right now to have to wait for the screen to automatically turn off, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
I don't have any suggestions for a fix, but if you can't figure anything out, there's a workaround. Get one of the widgets from the market that locks your screen... not the best solution but better than nothing.

I ended up resorting to flashing a ROM all over again.
If you have Spare Parts installed, its the reason... Go to Spare Parts/End button behavior and change it to "go to sleep"... i had the same issue today
And why is this in development?

Im absolutely stressed and not impressed with Sony device and this one would be definitely my last one from Sony
I dont know what happed but today phone stopped to work and is in standstill. basically in the morning everything as fine that I fall asleep and phone usually woke me up. i noticed that i have a missed connection and this is the point that problems begun - I could access phone book. When i as clicking on icon with handset Ive got pop up information that app is not working, so I tried several times to open it up again adn eventually I finish by blocking phone totally. Right now I see black screen with Information bar on top showing icon of antivirus battery and clock (wrong hour) and at bottom icons of usual on screen bottoms. I tried to press and hold main switch but there is no reaction other that showing this screen I have described. Battery is built in so Im in deep sh...t now.
I can add that my phone was not rooted and I didnt play around with unofficial software. Please help me to restart xperia

Reflash with SUS or the flashtool, and a soft reset on the Z is Vol+ & Power button together btw.

I unplugged my htc one in the morning after fully charging it over night.. I used it for about an hour, and then when i was trying to move the gallery shortcut to the home screen, the phone suddenly froze and the phone switched off, i kept holding the power button but it wouldn't switch on and I tried plugging it back but the LED light didn't turn on. i also tried to do a hard rest, booting to fastboot mode but non of that worked. Does someone have a solution for this? please help

Had this phone for 3 weeks now, just turned the screen on, unlocked the lock screen, then the screen glitched, then the phone turned itself off! Tried to power on again via the power button, but nothing. Had to hold up volume and power button together, phone vibrated. Tried turning on via power button & worked.
Anyone else had this problem?
I'm just hoping it was a one off.

I've had it happen twice, but both times were while I was sleeping so I didn't see the screen. But same thing when I woke up: phone was off and wouldn't turn on without force rebooting with the power and volume up.
Sucks when your alarm doesn't go off because your phone decides to freak out

This wasn't possible because the touchscreen didn't work. I already received my replacement from google and am sending the broken watch back.

I thought maybe there was a way to hard reset it just using the button, there is on the Gear-
Make sure Gear is powered off.
Press and hold the power key until you see either the Galaxy Gear rebooting… .
Release the power key and then repeatedly press the power key until you see the Reboot Select Mode screen.
Press the power key to highlight the "recovery" option.
Long press the power key (5-8 sec.) to select it. The device will reset and return to the factory initialization screen.
http://originus.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00058710/79120/SM-V7000WDAXAR
It happens on occasion to me. Long pressing the power button for about 7 seconds reboots it.
I don't really worry about it, I know they'll work all the bugs out soon.
