I have a Sony Xperia Z & I want to switch from KitKat to JellyBean.
I did the update this afternoon and my battery drained instantly.
My phone has been plugged into the wall for aroud 2.5 hours and it's only at 27% and its not going down and it's still plugged in....
it's driving me insane...i dont have time to wait a week for it to "catch up"
How can I switch back to Jellybean from KitKat?
Firstly, you should post it in Q&A section.
As for your problem, try a factory reset or repair software from Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service.
If you want to go back to 4.3, download any 4.3 FTF posted in the general section via flashtool.

NO! Keep 4.4!
Just shut the phone down and reboot again then plug it in again to wallmount. Of course it drains until it stabilizes! Just check battery info what drains it and wait for a few days before switching back.
Must be one of the weirdest reasons to switch back to lower version after 1 afternoon...

Just download the FTF file, put this FTF file in the firmware folder where you installed flashtool (typically C drive)
Then launch flashtool application, select flashmode choose the FTF and flash it. Done.

Did you try with a different charger? Ot might be a charger/cable problem, not a problem with the phone.
Probably Google Services battery drain, I have been experiencing this for a few days now. Not connected to kitkat or the Xperia Z. Phone also took forever to charge, I rebooted and it seems fine for now
i dont think is related to 442, a week ago google services started to drain my xperia s 412 battery for 22h, this happened 2years ago also, google is doing something...bad..

My battery died quick the first time and the performance was very laggy. After rebooting and recharging everything is good.

Hi,
do we know if the SOD problems are software or hardware related? ( Was gonna link to the SOD thread at Sony, but cant because of few posts. But google "Xperia V random freeze in standby" and your there..)
I am about to send my phone in for service, but since this will propably take a couple of weeks im hoping a software fix would be released.

So you had SOD, set min cpu and it helped?
Which firmware version?
How frequent was the SOD?
How long without?
I use the latest JB rom. I got 1~2 SoD per day before minimal CPU setting change. Now it stands well for more than two days without SoD. The Wifi is on. Maybe my good luck but worth trying.

Wifi of is not an option. Like a sportscar without an engine, but nice to get solid indications that WiFi actual is the problem. Seems like it would be fixable by software then, if only Sony care to take action.
Hmmm... a SoD again. :crying:

From my experience using Xperia V Stock ROM Singapore FTF Jelly Bean for 3 weeks, I must say that it is the best ROM I ever used for my Xperia V. Better than my stock ROM Malaysia ICS version. Give it a try and feel it.

This thread is about the SOD( "Sleep of Death") problems that some users have experienced on their Xperia V.
With the purpose of figuring out if this is a hardware( need to get phone replaced) or software( can be fixed by update).
So if you never had any issues with the SOD on your phone, on either ICS or JB, the information about which rom you think is the best do not help with the question asked in this thread. Please read before posting...

I just give my opinion. If this method helped other users fixing their SOD, who knows. I suggested to my friend that have SOD problem (Stock ICS Malaysia) to flash his Xperia V with Stock ROM Singapore, and he has no problem with SOD until now (a week of usage).
Just give it a try.

Have you tried a factory reset? When I had this issue on my Xperia TL, (before I rooted it and installed XperimenT) I uninstalled a ton of apps and disabled the ATT apps. It was doing the SOD every night. I would go through any recent apps you've installed and delete/disable them. If that doesn't work do a factory reset and _slowly_ reinstall apps. I think this is a case where something is interfering with Sony's stock firmware.
for those still having SOD, maybe u can try this. not sure it helps or not. because before i install jellybean, i review the code in build.prop first. so that is why it didnt happen on me for 2 weeks. well, i test it out yesterday.
use either ES file explorer or Root explorer, go to system -> build.prop.
find this line dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m, put a # in front of it to disable this code.
it could be because there is another similar code, thus conflict. u can find another similar line at the bottom of build.prop.
hope it helps!

Hi There,
seems that a found as well a BMW <=>XperiaZ <=> 4.4.2 friend
I had as well some troubles there.
In My F30 - connected drive - I was able to read my e-mails in the car screen, and was able to do a lot of work here.
But after that, this feature was not longer avaialble, and at the moment I beleive it's related on some sharpened Exchange Server policies , which were able to be installed with this update.
This still is true, but I ma still investigation on some Mail.apk/Email.APK, SEMCEmail.apkand Exchange2.Apk with changed/modified administartor handling.
What I as well found out, is that the blootooth pairing and the features with SMS reading, updating the phonebook worked not perfectly.
What I did,I deleted the blootooth connection on both, phone and car, and renamed the Xperia, started a totally new coupling, and it is fine now.
Except the mail Interface. I totally understand, that a company wnat's to save the data, but at least for my private account it should work, which is not the case.
Do you have (still have) other problems.

same bro, I found the solution by pressing the throw button then press disconnect and connect again and everything went normal, but it still made me uncomfortable, hopefully there is an improvement on the A2DP Bluetooth connection 4.4.2
BMW E88, 4.4.2 I guess what you mean by renaming is the name of the phone's Btooth obviously. I will try today if there is some success. I couldn't get the phonebook, calls to sync and when entering a call could not answer from wheeldrive or IDrive, just the phone
No luck in renaming, I downgraded to 4.2.2 with success. Everything works properly: syncs contacts asking for phonebook, syncs missed calls... No weird things. But obviously the best solution it's not to be in jelly bean. Do you agree?

My phone has locked bootloader. Installed version is #build6.
I have used philz recovery to flash build 7. To flash #build7 takes 2 minutes long.
After flashing, i reboot the phone using reset recovery option of philz.
Phone gets stuck, black screen, without sony logo, and i have to reflash to .207 stock rom using flashtool.
What am i doing wrong?

I guess it just happens sometimes. When I first flashed build #6 with twrp, everything went well, but something must have got corrupted along the way as the phone was stuck on Sony logo, and the screen just went gradually from orange tint to black from there on with continuous reboot loop. Fresh install helped though. And I've done everything the same.
Go back to stock, root, install recoveries, wipe cache, dalvik and system and install build #7. Should work just fine.
P. S. Another question from me, maybe not entirely related to only this ROM, but to flashing ROMs while using link2SD in general, as I'm sure some of you guys are using it. Is there any way to avoid some apps getting totally borked after each update? I know you need to recreate the mount scripts after flashing, but it just doesn't work for select apps each time, and I have to go through a tedious process of unlinking each one that is screwed, rebooting, and relinking. It's getting annoying with weekly updates (Thumbs up MRSteve <3).

Wich is better ? Keep my bootloader locked and use that ROM or unlock my bootloader and flash the latest CM11 Official Snapshot (M11) ? Few months, i flashed CM11 for locked bootloader and I had lot of anoying bugs/freezes. Can I expect better with that ROM ?
Thank's and sorry for my bad english.
This ROM is completely stable, and has no apparent bugs whatsoever. The only thing I noticed is worse than stock is the battery life.

Why on earth did you do that!? You'll need a computer with you. You will sadly however, have to start from the beginning. Get a stock ROM .ftf, flash it via Flashtool, then start over (root, install CWM, flash CM11 weekly build by MrSteve555)
The reason why your phone is bricked is because you have flashed a ROM for unlocked bootloaders (this being said is the M11 that you updated your phone). Your device does not have an unlocked bootloader. It does not start up due to the kernel installed on your phone is not stock (cyanogenmod's official kernel of course). On locked bootloaders, using a custom kernel is impossible and will cause bricks.

I haven't used Official CM11 on my SP, as my bootloader is locked, so it's not me to ask. For me, the phones eats through battery really fast, with screen on, it's like 10 minutes for 1%. Definetely not a days worth of use when gaming.

What could be a cause and solution to this problem?
