Is there a rom that includes a CDMA subscription which you get to select NV or RUIM? I have an unlocked/S-off HTC one sprint version. I have unlocked the phone for both GSM/CDMA, it's capable of supporting SIM/UIM card with HTC's Sense on top.(Unfortunately UIM/CDMA SIM card only works with Sense 5 on top of 4.1.2) I use Sprint/T-Mobile in the states, I can plug in TMo SIM and it works just fine with somewhat slower data speed. But I travel a lot to countries where they use CDMA with UIM card(it's like SIM for CDMA carriers), I can't get the phone to get any signal with any Kitkat rom expect for Sense 5 which has a hidden menu for u to choose CDMA subscription. Is this a phone issue with 4.4 kitkat? I'd love to see the CDMA subscription in the preferred network settings just like CM11 in HTC droid incredible 4G LTE(fireball) and unified version of S3. Since the sprint HTC one is indeed a global phone, I'd really sweet to see all possible network types along with a CDMA subscription option under Mobile Network Settings. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I just received my new HTC Shift, CDMA version, 1GB RAM
I also have a Sprint Mogul, and I make it work in Mexico with the only CDMA carrier, Iusacell. I configured it with the EPST.
I supose that I can do the same with the Shift, could someona provide me ROM dumps for the CDMA version? (If exiists)
I'm reading all the posts to get all the information need it to customize my HTC Shift
Is it possible to change the PRL File and the network settings? I did it with the Mogul
best regards
I also need a ROM dump for a CDMA shift.
I can tell you I had MAJOR issues getting my EVDO working with Sprint USA, they had to do some special configurations on the sprint side to get the data provisioned.
I would imagine that the PRL should be easily modified.

I know many of us use our smartphones as data-only devices with the various VOIP services. The developer edition of HTC One comes as a GSM only device, but Verizon uses CDMA for their Voice/3G. I'm looking to confirm whether or not it would work if I stuck one of Verizon's 4G SIM cards onto this phone and used it as a data only device? This way I can use Google Voice for my few voice and messaging needs.

HI, GUYS,
so I just got this unlocked HTC ONE from HTC shop
and I am currently using T-mobile, but I have issues with 3g
i used to have HTC desire z and 3g works fine,
and I went to shop, change my sim card to micro sim card so that i can use it in HTC ONE
BUT, everything works perfect excepted 3g
mobile network only can find T-mobile 2g network and at&t 2g/3g/4g network when i search the network operators
and i am not going to do roaming.
I tried to change VPN but it doesn't work
I also tried tweakker, but for some reason, it kept saying my wifi didn't connect to internet but it did connect to internet..
so could somebody help me
i didn't root my phone yet, and the rom is official rom
Software number 1.29.1540.16
thanks
You're not going to like this answer, but the unlocked HTC one lacks the 1700 band needed for T-Mobile 3G. The good news is T-Mobile is in the process of reforming their network so your phone should get 3G by quarter 3 2013. Until then you could try an AT&T mvno or return it and buy one from T-Mobile that has the required bands.

which one to use at any particular time?
Just voice on Verizon - no SIM.

Looks like there are 100 other people who are just like me - don't know.
It looks like this would be possible with just a switch of APN's and checking a choice under "networks" or possibly it would auto choose the APN based on networks choice. But in practical application would it work?
I know i have switched b/w AT&T, T-Mobile, and VZW and it would recognize the network. Only network that wouldn't work for me was Sprint.
Verizon LTE phones require a Verizon SIM to work with both its CDMA network and its LTE network. If a Verizon SIM is not present in one of these devices, it won't work with either Verizon's CDMA network or its LTE network.

Yes, my question though is, for voice only on Verizon - without SIM just CDMA activation - Can a person have both and switch easily between them by activating the 3g data - voice via phone identification no SIM required with Verizon (pageplus) and a SIM for at&t (straighttalk or redpocket).

Ah, interesting. I hadn't thought about using a CDMA MVNO on Verizon. I know that if you are just using Verizon, CDMA activation without SIM won't work because Verizon is using the SIM to authenticate to its CDMA network on LTE-enabled phones. But for Page Plus, you may be able to manually program the CDMA activation without using a SIM? Have you manually programmed CDMA phones to work on Page Plus in the past, and if so, how does it work?

Yes, I have a Moto-G activated on pageplus. I called them up, gave the ph ID then called a Verizon activation number. Worked well.
My problem is I am on the edge where Verizon works a bit better (have to walk outside and find a reception area) at my home with AT&T not picking up except occasionally. If I had the cheap pageplus plan for Verizon (not LTE) and Redpocket or straighttalk activated on AT&T it would give me a bit of flexibility if I could do it on one phone.
I just don't know if it will work. Perhaps the Nexus 6 being a LTE device won't activate on pageplus as a 3g device.
I may just activate an AT&T MVNO SIM on data and just use hangouts and hangouts dialer. Use wi-fi at home and data SIM when about. Redpocket has a T-mobile 1 GB plan for $10/month; haven't yet tried Tmobile reception. I live in a cellular black hole.
I tried searching it, but I kept finding it for other phones and then answers that did not fit what I have. The most common answer is, if it has a sim card, it is GSM. Sprint is CDMA though, so is it CDMA and GSM? When I took the SIM card out, it said that I would not be able to use 4G LTE without the SIM, but I still had full bars, so does it use GSM for 4G, but CDMA for 2G (calls and sms). I was told that the Google PE RUU did not work on my phone because it only works on GSM, but then when I ran MSL finder, it told me it had no MSL (ie not a CDMA phone) and I have en IMEI, not an ESN.
This should be in q&a
If you're on Sprint or Verizon, you're using a CDMA carrier. Since CDMA is too old to support LTE, they used the SIM card to access access GSM technology (LTE) To keep up to date with the new carriers that are running insane download/uploading speeds using LTE.

Got it...I was looking at the some hidden menus and I found the section to choose GSM/WCDMA.CDMA/LTE and some other few options. Thanks for the clarification.

Yup, if you choose GSM/UMTS, you won't be able to receive data at all since Sprint isn't a GSM carrier.

On that note, it has several options, including CDMA only, GSM only, and then gsm/cdma/wcdma/lte (ie all of them). Is it prudent to just leave it on all, or since I am going to use it on Verizon and/or sprint/ting, just leave it cdma/wcdma/lte? If I choose the catch all one that includes gsm, will it affect the phone negatively, as in extra battery usage, overheating, no signal, etc?

If you switch to CDMA Only, you're gonna get a much longer battery life than if you were using CDMA/LTE since your LTE service will be disabled. This means that you will only get 3G but your battery life will last longer since LTE requires more power than 3G
