I switched today from dalvik to ART to see if there is any noticeable battery performance or speed differences. When I rebooted I all of a sudden to my surprise got the custom unlock screen can anyone explain or elaborate? Should I get a new device.?

Also, to answer your question, the lockpad just signifies that you are running in ART mode. Beware though, some things like Private Mode DON'T work with ART so you will have issues.
hit thanks if I helped
no private mode

I learned the hard way that private mode didn't work which sucks because I was enjoying the extended battery life that comes along with ART
P.S. sorry for not searching more on the subject

Hello, I'm on a quest to improve battery life as much as i can. I started reading about wakelocks and everything related (i'm pretty new to androidm, the SGSA is my first smartphone).
I'm currently using siri kernel rc-4. As i read, the kernel wakelock "secril_fd-interface" is related to the Fast Dormancy feature. This is currently my biggest kernel wakelock cause.
I'm pretty sure my carrier here in Argentina doesn't support this feature, so i tried to have it disabled. I found a code *#9900# where i could disable fast dormancy.
But checking back a few times on betterbatterystats, the "secril_fd-interface" wakelock is still present, nothing seems to have changed.
Anyone has had this problem ?? Any ideas on how to disable efectively fast dormancy ??
Thank you very much in "advance" :good:
/EDIT: Im so sorry, i swear i thought i was on the Q&A forum.... could some moderator move this thread?
Anyone?

Ok. Waiting to hear your results.
I have used Slimbean rom for a while now and I have beeen very happy about it. I thoguht the battery time has been good so I haven't bothered to check it until now.
I charged the phone to 100% and after 9 hours (where I didn't touch it at all) it had drained down to 85% (everything of except wifi). I had Betterbatterystats instaled to se what was draining it and mostly it's this "baseband_xmm_power". Is this from the rom, kernel or maybe even an app?
The only app I can think of is AutomateIt. a automatic setting app but I'm not sure.
Could it be beacuse I have such a bad signal were I live? My phone costantly drops out of range and rconnects all the time.
Create a new post for this really? OP needs to throw himself a facepalm
Everyone here should already know the answer please don't spoonfeed this lazy guy.

Well I can't find the answer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229050&page=19
Read all the post, and there is one kernel wich solves it but it's for another rom.
A brief search shows that about a gazillion people had this same exact problem and there are something like 1000 threads already in this phone's section alone....You found no solution bacause....well there is none! Some kernels are modded so that the baseband wakelock won't show up but it's still there. Ususally on our phone when wiping cache and dalvik you need to do one more normal reboot or it has trouble going into sleep
Moving to custom kernels solved the problem for me.
I'm actually using warewolf v8. It works great.
baseband_xmm_power can not be removed completelly, because it should be an important wakelock for the NVIDIA device. Anyway, the werewolf kernel fixes the excessive wakelocks from it.
So i rooted my new nexus 6 and installed chroma rom. every thing was fine till i noticed a small part of the screen flicker. it was like a black line coming and going as soon as i took it off charging it was fine. this was after i installed the rom there was nothing like this on the stock one. also when i open the camera app i can hear a small click/ crackle sound. this happened in the stock rom too but with the snapchat app. its irritating and i cant find a fix anywhere. and lastly whats with the network issue? it suddenly comes and goes. i checked it and it showe 0dbm and 99 asu?is this common? tried to find a fix but all i got was lots of unanswered threads. as being a student who need to use this phone for a long time can anyone tell me if all this is fixable ? or do i need to get a replacement as im still in my 30 day return period. thanks in advance and sorry if all this issues are already in a post and have fixes just post me the link as i could find it
being a student who needs the use of the phone for long periods of time.. what are you foing moddifying your device. no custom rom will be bug free. even though whtyever bugs dont bother me, they seem to bug you. why dont you just stay stock with root if those issues are bugging you.

I know no roms are bug free, just wanted to know if these are common software issue and not a bad device that i got. And on the other hand i used my s3 for 2.5-3 yrs with custom roms and stuff simply as i enjoy running them and seeing all the amazing stuff people can do with skill that was the main reason i got a nexus

I looked up benchmark scores for this phone and it is supposed to get around 260,000, while my phone only gets 232,000. Is this normal?

Stock pie.
You guys are still believing those score? lol
No, I just ran it out of curiosity lol real world use tells me all I need to know.

I just disable unused services, clear the caches every couple of weeks, nothing special. Don't get too obsessed by the numbers, they don't really mean much and how the phone functions in the real world is all that matters.

@GreatLordAnt,thanks. And yes,i totally understand that the numbers arent that important and all that matters is he real life performance is all that really matters, but for me personally....i like to check those numbers and try to figure out what someone has done to get to the numbers they do sometimes,on the same device as i have. Its silly i know, but it gives me something to do and keep myself busy with sometimes
I used to care but now it's more of a guideline to general phone health for me. Not having root holds me back.
Who cares.
Hello guys!
I wanted to make a battery calibration on my Galaxy S21 5G and i made a battery test on the road.
The phone is 5 months old.
So this is the measurement from 100% battery to 3%.
The Screentime is 11 hours and 56 min. (always on wifi) & 40 min. of music streaming on 4g (9% battery).
I think the Screentime is fantastic!
I used some tweaks from here:
[DISCONTINUED] Samsung Galaxy One UI - Optimization Guide
THIS IS A SUGGESTED CONFIGURATION FOR SAMSUNG DEVICES OUT OF SUPPORT/CLOSED I - RECOMMENDED SETTINGS To Start With - Factory Reset before starting optimisations - Factory Reset after every Major update (One UI/Android) - Remove SIM before first...
forum.xda-developers.com
and the Screen was constantly on 48Hz with Galaxy Max app.
The Performance was completely fine.
Now if this is with 48Hz, imagine what insane battery life can you get on a Galaxy Ultra with 10Hz.
Thanks for the tag, glad i helped
Basically you transformed your S21 into an S7 or S8, you might as well bought a nokia 3310 to deactivate all the features of a phone, or changed brands....

It doesn't make sense anyway, so changing the brand of phone your approach is weird in my eyes, having an S21 to make it as interesting as an older generation smartphone, you might as well buy older generations. You will gain 2x more battery again. A nokia 3310 would last 1 week in autonomy, that would be more suited to your needs. Sorry

You said something right, YOUR eyes, and as far as i can remember, nobody asked for your opinion .
Again, well said, that's how YOU describe "Interesting", not me.
I didn't ask for your help to find what i need, but thanks for the help anyway
If you like the process, take part, help. If you don't, then ignore.
You have to accept that some people might have different opinions that you'll need to accept and respect, not everyone that thinks different than you is wrong.

I want an S7 with a better screen and a better camera basically, can i ? Can you please let me do whatever i want with MY OWN PHONE ?
Unless you paid for my device, in that case you're right, i should let all apps and features i don't need running in the background and consuming power

hey bro I want to do your battery optimization but first 2 question do I need to first do a factory reset
and can I restore my phone with smartswitch?
Do you think it could be possible for you to write down what tweaks you used from the link you shared? There's quite a lot of information there and was wondering what you used in that thread and didn't.

Maybe you shouldn't of done a post if you didn't want people to comment
Damn, you turned off all these features and crippled the phone but left a super obvious optimization untouched.
Using WiFi calling, you can enable airplane mode, effectively turning off your whole cellular radio.
While I'm at home, my phone is always on airplane mode, so it's not looking for towers, switching networks, etc. Depending on your provider and location, it can noticeably help with battery drain, mostly in standby.
Also...wtf Norton 360? It looks like it used a ton of battery and it's such a grandma move to have Norton on your cellphone. It's just weird to remove all the nice features of the phone, for which you paid, al in the pursuit of better battery life, but leave obvious things like this in... just my $0.02
