is there any hope at all? my phone just went to a black screen after opening my friends snapchat. ive pulled the battery, ive tried to reset the phone with volume home and power. still to no avail phone works except the display. anyone have any ideas?

My Fiancee's G1 wont turn on at all,No T-mobile slpash screen or nothing.LED lights turn on and Call,Home,Back and Power buttons light up except for the screen itself her phone wasnt rooted,I have never experienced this before.

the phone is not turning on via the power(end) button???
try pressing the camera button and keeping it pressed, also press the power button to enter into hboot mode...if u succeed in entering that mode, the phone is fine, or else it could be bricked.
Try Home+Power see if you can get into recovery mode.
If you can wipe cache data.
Hi everyone, hope it's okay to post this here since this Question relates to mine.
I'm having a trouble like this except instead it's like my backlight went out, it was working fine until my alarm on my phone went off and when I went to turn it off I had to take the battery out of my phone because the screen wasn't pulling up. It flashed basically, so when I put the battery in the screen came on but no backlight. Could it be due to Cyanogen? I'm restoring my backup to see what else could I try?
could u be a bit more specific?phone is working??? calls etc???or are u stuck somewhere????
As I said, the screen came on but no backlight. The phone works fine except for the backlight I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware issue or a software issue. I don't know how much more specific I can get really except that the only way to see the screen is to hold it at a certain angle so the light hits it just right.
ok so i've been using it a bit but my battery was 70% last i checked. was playing around with throw and just opened youtube and the screen flickered a bit (black lines) then decided to go black completely.
nothing i do will make the screen do anything.
holding the power button for ages (usually the way to turn off/reboot a phone) doesnt do anything. the backlight is on as i can see that. but nothing is on the screen.
anyone got any ideas on how to force a shutdown/reboot on these?

IIRC the Xperia Z1 has a hard reset button under the sim flap, it's a small red button, give it a shot.
remove sim card and sd card and try again, if it's still not responding do an update repair using SUS or PCC
BTW there is a known fault with the XZU and it could also be on the Z1 as they use similar Firmware, what people have found is that the phone will start up eventually and then they go into the display setting and untick the auto backlight option and that fixes it
I also reboot my Z1in this way when it blackout.

Managed to hard reset using power and up volume .
Put it on charge overnight but it doesn't see,m to have taken any charge at all....just trying again using diff PSU and cables but it doesn't want to charge. It recognises that I've out a cable in as I played with the smart connect setting. When it is off completely I get a red light (presumably meaning its charging ) but not in android

Got it charging again by pushing the red button near sim slot for a couple seconds.
Just had another issue with SD card not being recognised after I removed another (/safely) had to reboot again using power plus vol up as it stuck on the shutdown logo when I tried to power down'...
Wow I can't believe the amount of issues I've ran into within 24hours of having this thing. I really don't know what to do...return it because it sounds like a faulty device (but all the issues are seemingly unrelated) or return and get another phone (is anyone else getting problems like I am?)
Sometimes phones have issues. I got one once that had no speakers or Mic inside... it happens lol
Try to go exchange it, and see if the next device gives you issues.. if not then you're good, if it does pick a different phone..
Do it soon though, most carriers only have a 14 day exchange period, and then after that will charge you all sorts of fees and try to fix your phone rather than just giving you a new one....

sounds like a similar problem I had with my 64gb SD card - as I mentioned above remove all cards then start from there - a reflash of the firmware might help also

Something happened to mine with Youtube too. I'd started a video and paused it on a frame for comparison with another screen. While I was setting the other phone up, the screen on Z1 timed out. I pressed power, the screen come on and flickered, then went black!
Power and both volume keys function the same as the red button under the flap. I wasn't able to reproduce the bug.

yeah i've been trying to reproduce it and failing to. very odd. maybe its something to do with the first time you use youtube and do something specific?
gunna phone o2 up tomorrow and see what they say about all my issues. seems to have been fine this last 24 hours though and in their eyes that is prob reason enough not to issue a replacement.
I've had mine since Monday and this happened to me yesterday. I was troubleshooting sending MMS with T-Mobile tech support (not a phone issue as it was happening on previous phones too) and had to restart the phone several times. I noticed upon restarting that the backlight seemed to be on but the phone was not booting up. Had to perform several hard resets (both with the red reset button as well as the power/volume up buttons) before it FINALLY rebooted and stayed on. While trying to figure this out I ran a Google search to see if others were having this problem. One solution was to make sure the backlight option is checked. I had been messing with settings the night before and must have unchecked it. Since I rechecked it I haven't had the same issue.
Hi all im really looking for some help before i give in and send my for repair. I have only had it a week and earlier today it suddenly stopped working but just before it did it said the xperia home has stopped and then the phone went off and wouldnt turn back on. When i finally managed to get it to come back on i get just the sony logo then a blank black screen with a backlight on and nothing else this then loops back into the sony logo then the blank screen. Iv tried charging the phone. Connecting to a computer does not work as it cant recognise the device. (otherwise i could have reset the phone). Iv tried volume up and power get the three vibrations then it ends up doing the same thing when i switch back on. Then volume down and power while plugged into computer but the green light comes on for a brief second then goes again. Im really baffled as to whats happened and any advice would be really appreciated.

It boots up but nothing on the screen since I got it yesterday. Shows nothing when I plug in charger with phone off and doesn't show samsung logo whole booting up. Screen is completely black. The notification led, recent apps, and back button do light up and I am able to tap the screen and have it register but the screen just doesn't display anything.
Tried booting into fastboot and nothing, tried booting into download mode and nothing, tried removing battery and holding power for over a minute and nothing.
Help me before I have to return it. I g out. It for 380$ new from a recent cowboom.com deal and they're out of stock so they with be able to replace it.
One thing i did notice is that, even though it boots up and I can hear the water drop sound when pressing the back button, as soon as I hit the power button again, it reboots.
Maybe a fresh os install will help?
Return and get refund or send it to samsung repair center.
Looks like a digitizer problem.
I wouldn't send it to Samsung. I sent mine in and was returned in worst condition.
Hello, members. I come here to ask your help because i haven't found any solution for it anywhere on the internet. This is what happened: some days go (around a week or two) i updated my security patch to the last one released by Motorola and the phone was OK, pretty much the same. Then around five to six days ago the problem started: my phone started going off even with full battery, and so i had to hold high volume key + power key for the phone to boot again (this happened twice and was "solved" by the time) and so the headache started. Around four days ago i went to sleep and left my phone charging, then when i woke up some hours later it was completely off, showing nothing on the screen, then i removed the charger and turned it on, and for my surprise the phone booted saying Hello Moto, vibrating and all but the screen showed absolutely nothing but a black/grey screen, not even the boot logo was shown. Once the phone started i noticed the screen touch is working for turning on the flashlight, receiving or rejecting calls and all, but it is completely dark. I have already tried lighting up a flashlight in front of its light sensor to see if the ambient display was active, but it is not. I have also tried turning it on by holding low volume key + power for a lot of seconds and it resulted in no changes. I have tried turning it on by holding high volume key + power key, and even low + high + power keys simultaneously for tons of seconds and NADA. I'm completely desperated because i have found no solutions for it at all anywhere. My phone has not fallen to the ground and neither got watered, so i don't know what the **** has happened to it. It got like this completely out of a sudden, no one even touched it.
I had the same issue with my moto g6 and it happened a few days ago. i unlocked bootloader and rooted the phone and then installed some apps . it happened 2 times. First time happened i solved it. While it was charging screen went black and nothing appeared on screen but phone was working . i called from another phone and it was ringing. I thought an app was causing this issue so i uninstalled some apps that i installed when i got the phone. I turned it off and waited for a while to cool down ( i thought it was heated from over charging ). When i turned on it was ok everything came back. Week later it did the same issue but this time it was completely gone. I removed back cover to check battery . I disconnected the battery and then connected again , turned on the phone , screen was going on and off. After turning it on it stayed around 10 min. and then again everything gone. People who had similar issue are saying hard reset or fastboot mode etc. but nothing appears on screen so how can i do hard reset when i do not see anything on screen. Right now it is unusable . I cannot do nothing with the phone.

I believe the problem was due to a poor connection to the screen because when I pressed hard at the very bottom of the screen the display flickered on. I then pressed very hard at several points along the bottom of the screen and the screen then started working constantly again. Not really a proper fix but I now have a working display again.
