In need of replacement screen for Gear 1 - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Took my watch off today at the pool (since its not waterproof). It rolled off the table and cracked the outer lens.
Anyone know where I can find a replacement screen?

Changing a broken screen

I will soon be opening up my phone (T-mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition) to replace the glass screen with a new one ordered online. I've never even opened the phone before and was wondering if someone has performed this operation before. I would really appreciate any pointers, tricks, cautions, pictures, etc.
Thanks.
lawrence... where did u get the replacement??
i wonder if they got replacement cases! i chiped mine
The company I bought the screen from was GetHighTech, Inc, in California. By coincidence, they are about an hour's drive away from my home.
They only sell the glass screen and high capacity battery replacements. The screen comes with absolutely no documentation or instructions. I just got it a few minutes ago.
just wanted to see if you had any luck with the changeout.
Screen replaced successfully: observations
It was a tricky operation, but I finally managed to replace my broken touch screen. And the patient is alive, and only a little worse off for the experience.
I was held back for a week until I could get the right size torx screwdrivers to remove the back cover. Once inside, it was a very very tricky process slicing off the broken screen with a razor blade. It was glued to the lcd display. This would have been hard even if the screen was not shattered. Definitely needed goggles to protect against flying splinters of glass. I used cotton swabs and 99% alcohol to clean the glass dust off the glue around the edges of the lcd, then I put the new screen on while that residual gum was still a bit tacky.
There was a very thin existing plastic cover over the lcd in between the glass touch screen and the rest of the lcd. Since it did not come off with the glass, I left it in place even though it had a couple of small scratches from contact with the broken glass. It seems like it was there to keep dust off the lcd or something like that.
This was my first time inside the phone. I noticed that replacing the whole LCD component would have been a trivial task by comparision to replacing the glass alone. And even easier would have been adding a new battery.

I replaced my touchscreen a few weeks ago. Like Lawrence said it's a little tricky and you need to be patient.
I bought my touchscreen from www.pdasmart.com/pdaphone.htm for $75 and they gave great instructions.
thank you for your kind answer
hmmm, seems like it is nice to live in US ... where all the things for XDA are almost readily available

Protective Acryclic Cover over the Digitizer
I have an odd problem. I have an SX56 with a broken protective cover. The protective cover is the acrylic sheet that sits between the digitizer and the outside world. Everything else works fine including the digitizer. I have found every replacement part except that cover. I've even tried local plastic stores. They don't carry the proper thickness (0.125mm).
Any thoughts or sources besides sending it in for a $200 repair?

Front Camera Problem (Hardware)

Just to let everyone know what to potentially expect in the future, the front camera can come loose for some reason.
Bought on April 21st and noticed it on September 29th. Basically it looks like the camera or a shim dropped in front of the camera. The end result is attached. I didn't have another camera to show you what it looks like but you could tell it had a physical problem. Took it back to ATT for a warranty replacement.
I am a front pocket user but placed upside down, and the phone has always been protected with a case and tempered glass. Dropped 1 time on concrete from 3 feet. Been in the shower about 5 times with it. Downloaded a fishing game that required a lot of shaking. Not sure what caused it but it happened. Not a selfie kind of person so just discovered it today.

The image above is of a corner of the room. Baseball bat on the bottom and my shadow on the wall. The 1/3 of the top of the image is obscured by the shim or the camera drop.
I had the same problem had to go to att repair center to get a replacement. Very quick process. The person working there told me it's a very common issue.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
Happened to me about 2 months ago. Got mine at Walmart so it was out of warranty and my other option was to send it to Samsung. I ended up very carefully lifting that side of the glass with a thin guitar pic and used a flat needed to move it back in place. Just like new.
Adhesive failure ??....and what model ??....the active or standard S5 ??
Good information OP...thank you for sharing. ...g
Standard for me, the originator. Nice to know that if we had to, we can go in and do it ourselves.

Did you have to heat the glass up? Was it the camera that moved or some sort of shim? Did you put your own adhesive when you were in there?
Same problem here. I have the standard S5. Been thinking of going yo AT&T and getting a replacement.

nope i just was careful and used steady pressure. It was the gasket that surrounds the front facing camera. No I moved it back in place and used canned air to clean the dust if any and then pressed it back down. The glass is flush again and I haven't had a problem since. That being said it's probably not sealed anymore.

Broken screen. Halp

Hi there
The glass of my Nexus 6 broke 4 weeks ago and until now the screen was working well but from yesterday is completely dead (device and touch still work)
What I need to buy to fix this? (lcd panel, digitalizer, glass)
^ sorry for the crappy quality
The easiest is to buy a complete display assembly. That includes glass and amoled panel mounted together, preferably with the frame as well. Expect to pay around 70 dollars if you buy from China.
You may need new glue for the back - you can buy a cut out sheet of glue, or just a new back with glue on, it's not expensive.
My display assembly came without the speaker covers (the two tiny plastic bars). I transfered the old ones, but you can also buy them new.

Screen spontaneously cracked

I've got a P-Smart 2019 and the display has cracked around the tear-drop cutout. Only the display has cracked - The digitizer is still perfect. The phone hasn't been dropped or knocked or bent. The screen literally spontaneously cracked. I bet phone manufactures hear these types of stories all the time, and Huawei's repair centre in Finland are saying that the screen is cracked, therefore it must have been dropped and isn't covered by warranty.
The phone has always been kept in a case, and I replaced the film screen protector with a tempered glass one. When I saw the damaged display I removed the screen protector, and it's clear that the digitizer isn't damaged at all. I'm also certain that the phone wasn't knocked or bent in any way, so how best to handle this with Huawei? I've attached a photo, although from looking at it you can see that the display is broken, but you can't see that the digitizer is perfect.
That's strange, do you think it was a faulty device?
It looks as if something was burnt under it?
P Smart 2019 - hairline crack developed near camera cutout
This happened to me too.
The phone is in a solid protective case.
It has also has a front screen protector.
I have not dropped it or impacted it.
I have not squashed it or scratched it.
A curved 15mm long hairline crack has developed that starts from the camera (or teardrop) cutout at the top of the screen.
I suspect the glass area around the cut out may be weak spot created during the manufacturing process.
I can see no other explanation as the screen was OK one minute, then not the next.
A small search reveals I am not the only person who has discovered an unexplainable hairline crack travelling outward from an origin point ond the circumference of the camera cut out.
The fact that there are multiple cases with the same specific details indicates a high possibility that this could be a common fault with the P Smart 2019.
A weak area of glass at the point where the camera cutout meets the main screen.
Could it be that this weak area could split after an unspecified period of time.
Hence the reason we are beginning to see a gradual occurance / increase of the same specific fault in this particular model since its initial release in approx late 2018 / early 2019?
The P smart 2019 - an otherwise excellent phone.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with this model.
Note - accidental or impact damage cannot be included.
This crack developed on its own.
I will include images of the fault characteristic in another post.

Replacement Screen (not cracked glass) cost?

I dropped my Exynos Note 9 several weeks ago in a case that wasn't very protective. Thought I dodged a bullet, but several days later I noticed a partial black "not quite half circle" on the edge of the screen, approximately 3-4 mm.
Then last week, a horizontal black line appeared across my screen, Ema aging from the black ellipse. The line only appears at certain brightness settings and will go away if I make the screen brighter.
The screen also flickers strangely sometimes when Coming out of Screensaver mode.
The glass is not cracked.
1) I need to replace... the screen?
2) how much would this cost to replace it myself?
Thanks. If I missed anything please ask.
Well, the best is to buy a new screen with frame, I am in Europe and you can find these on ebay for around 220-240€. The biggest challenge is getting the battery cover off in one piece. I did replace the screen/frame and back cover on my previous Huawei mate 20 pro, the screen/frame came with a fresh battery glued in. My only challenge was that the "original" adhesive provided with the new back cover was useless. Plenty on ebay but only 1 or 2 where the real thing, the others where not holding the back cover on. I had basically a new phone externally and is still in daily use by my wife.
For my note 10 plus I have bought a new back cover and screen/frame. It has a heavy screen burn and a hairline crack in the glass. I will take the opportunity to transform it from a Aura black into a Aura white...Like Jerry is saying, its like little lego. Plenty of you tube video's on how to!
