LG G3 keyboard for G2 - Verizon LG G2

Hey guys. Just read up on this. I flashed Cloudyfa LG G3 keyboard to my G2 and it works GREAT. Below is a screenshot of it running on my G2 and also provided the link as well for the forum. Oh and I am running MicroMod777 KK stock ROM.

I'd like to add, that while AOSP isn't officially supported, the current release of this keyboard has been running perfectly on Mahdi and PA for me so far.

Also working fine on JPC's CM11 build.
I am enjoying this keyboard!

Is it need root? I search g3 keyboard but everyone needs root is it them ? Or is it working stock rom?

You need to flash it in recovery. You can't get a custom recovery without root.

Keyboard kinda sucks. I liked it better when it had all symbols on top after every word in case I needed a question mark or whatever. Plus my i's always default to lower case.

Agreed! it DOES suck.
Since the the Old Droid X days I have used Swype, I then went briefly to swiftkey, back to Swype,
then was a hardcore Touchpal user. I tired the google keyboard but hated it.
Now after using the latlest Google Keyboard for a week, Those all suck! hah
Google keyboard got REALLY good with swype prediction now surpassing all the competitors.
its just ugly, and has no number row, or swype up for number.

Agreed.... it sucks. I came from a Note 3, I love the Samsung keyboards. LG is alright, but the fact that it does not auto space after symbols is what made me switch. I have tried swiftkey beta, ai, and swype, they all have too many flaws for me. Best thing I have found so far is google with number row mod.

How do I get my address book into the LG g3 keyboard? Tired of adding names.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Thumb Keyboard has been the best keyboard with the best prediction and setup IMO. I don't like Swipe.
I've tried other keyboards, each for weeks at a time. I send a lot of emails and texts and Facebook and other but all other keyboards have really bad predictions or weird behaviors. The ONLY thing I miss on the stock LG Keyboard was the dedicated number row. Being an IT Project Manager, I'm having to pump out IP addresses and contact phone numbers often. It is the 1 thing that Thumb Keyboard lacks. I've sent several requests to have them at least include the option. Otherwise it is flawless.

swift key now had number row.. I've tried all kinds of keyboards.. swiftkey simply blows everything away with auto correction and prediction.

Only thing I don't like about the Google keyboard is the inability to long press a key to get a symbol, that's imperative for me.

I agree as well. I have used almost every free keyboard on the market and I find that the Google Keyboard seems to work best for me. I have also noticed that everyone has their own keyboard that works best for them. Once thing I did notice with the G3 keyboard on the G2 is that when using a prediction from the prediction bar, it always puts in a space after the predicted word. This can be helpful in you're in the right spot and want one, but it drives me crazy when you're not expecting one and then have to hit backspace. I've used the real G3 keyboard and I don't recall it having this issue. I do love the fact that with this keyboard you can change the height to any that you want, and can customize the keys on the bottom as well.

Not bad,but it buggs sometimes a little bit

i had this keyboard on 2.1 but kinda forgot about when i went to 2.2. its a nice keyboard and im sure some of you already have it but for those who dont, im attaching the 2 apk's for this. one is the keyboard and one is the calibrator. you can push these to data/app or just copy to sd card and install with root explorer, astro, etc. install the keyboard first, then the calibrator tool.

I was doing some more forum lurking, trying to figure out what makes this keyboard vibrate on keypress unlike it's AOSP counterpart, and I came across this: http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/
Let's you custom theme your HTC_IME keyboard anyway you want. I just cloned the Cyanogen mod keyboard cause it was all black with a fairly dark lettering color so it doesn't light up my face at night causing temporary blindness. I had to make a custom space bar image cause I didn't want the one used in the preset one. I attached the .apk to this post.
Edit: Attached are some screenshots.
Does multitouch work? The HTC_IME I'm using on Froyo has bad multitouch so letters are often left behind, even if multitouch works it sucks. Is this any better?
I don't know if its just a case of the grass being greener oan the other side but I don't understand the desire to add this key board. I find the samsung keyboard to be supoirior to this. With a few quirks. And the droid x to be slightly better but over rated. I find it easiest to type on the Samsung multi touch. But the lack of caps lock is annoying. Maybe that will be fixed in the official froyo. I use swype when I hold the phone with one hand but typing with both hands I need a proper multi touch.

I am trying to use Astro File Manager to open HTC_IME_hi22.apk and it says "Could not open /sdcard/HTC_IME_hi22.apk as APK file.
I am rooted, and used rafter109's OCD De-Cripple function to enable sideloading.
Any help would be appreciated.

More of a preference. I got used to the HTC keyboard and it's quirks and how it works, and I like it. The Samsung keyboard is good, and the Android one is downright annoying at times, but this one I LOVE.

[App] Hacker's Keyboard by kwx

If you're interested in a different approach, try my just-released Hacker's Keyboard and let me know what you think. I've tried to stay as close as possible to a standard PC layout, it has 5 rows including numbers and punctuation in the usual places, plus Esc/Ctrl/Alt for ConnectBot. It's based on the Gingerbread keyboard, so it has multitouch support and voice input.

Can you give me more detail how it's showing as unavailable? Is that in the Market web interface, or the Market application? I've just confirmed that it updated to v1.10 normally on my Xoom using the Market app.
What's your system language set to? I was changing localization settings and removing not-really-supported languages in the v1.9 update, but according to the documentation that shouldn't affect eligibility to install it.
Holy crap. This is exactly what I am looking for... and open source no less! Do you accept donations?

Hmm, looking again, maybe this isn't open source. Are there any plans to release it as an open source project?

+1.
I can't be sure if it'd be even better, but I'm inclined to think the leftmost keys would be even more comfortable in the following order from top to bottom:
ESC
~
TAB
SHIFT
CTRL
Or maybe even switch ESC and ~ for more spacing on the more frequently used esc key:
~
ESC
TAB
SHIFT
CTRL
Looks good, any chance of a UK style version or option so we have £ sign there and @ swapped with " ?

Swype all the way dude.
This is a no brainer, really. You don't really lose anything from any stock keyboard by using swype. Screen peckers can carry on pecking at their screens and swypers can carry on with swyping happiness.
Swype even has great auto correct (same if not best than stock keyboards) and word suggestion to whoever dislikes swyping.

I realized his rom relies heavily on cutting off stuff that waste ram. I remembered he could be leaving swype out because of that. So i went in and tested.
Swype is using 16Mb of ram
ICS keyboard from onecosmic is using 15Mb.
Granted, one can still argue it's more 1Mb and every single one of them count. While that's true, 1 extra Mb is a great tradeoff for swype goodness imo
Now, i'm not sure if the system itself really needs some stock keyboard to be available even if not used by the user. I remember reading that somewhere but i'm not even sure if it was related to anything SGS.

hey. i was looking for keyboards in ebay when i saw this one. its like a case and a stand. there wasn't any reviews about this keyboard, so im the first, to make it it cost for me 24$, and it came to me (in Latvia) about 2.5 weeks. i made a video and took some pics.

Its made of plastic, not from aluminium, as they whrite on ebay, but thats a good thing, bcoz plastic will not scrash your device.

On the same page as that keyboard in the what other people did section is the same keyboard (look for exact) for 11 less if you have Prime and use the free shipping option (21.95 vs. 29.75 + 2.95 shipping)
If I felt I had any need for a keyboard I'd get one for 22. Or if I hadn't already spent 10 on a case figuring I might not use it often but it'd be handy occasionally.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2
BestDealUSA on Amazon has it for $19.06 plus 50 cents shipping in the US. Figured it'd take a month coming from China but it shipped on the second day from NJ.
I don't think this one has the magnet. The screen doesn't shut off, even when it's closed.
Can someone please confirm that the auto capitalize, punctuation, and word correction and prediction do NOT work with this keyboard on a N7?
The video in the op does seem to show capitalizing the first word and word prediction.
I have been through all my input settings and the section for external device has all those settings ticked but nothing seems to work. I've tested typing in gmail, evernote and chrome, but it just stays as lower case (unless caps is selected) and words dont get corrected or any suggestions.

Perhaps completely spurious but on another device I had (TF101) how an external keyboard worked changed depending on which soft keyboard (or should I say on screen) was chosen. You needed to have the Asus keyboard chosen to get those features to work properly. Perhaps the Nexus is the same way and needs the default keyboard as the input device to get those features. I know the latest SwiftKey keyboard has a preference for dealing with what to do when an external keyboard is attached which makes me feel that there's some sort of voodoo involved when using an external keyboard.

I have been through all my input settings and the section for external device has all those settings ticked but nothing seems to work. I've tested typing in gmail, evernote and chrome, but it just stays as lower case (unless caps is selected) and words dont get corrected or any suggestions.

I could swear there have been a couple of times when I've paired the tablet to the keyboard I've seen a very brief message that says something to the affect of "to enable (those things your mentioned above) press... {?} key combination", but before I can focus on the message it disappears.
It looks pretty cool, I think I'll get one. For that price it's a steal, and it will be great for taking notes in classes and meetings.
is this cramped like a netbook. and are the keys located as on a regular keyboard. The usb keyboard I bought for my nexus had keys on weird places.

Small netbooks have 8 or 9 inch screens and I've only seen 10" ones the last year or so. They'd all have bigger keyboards than something the size of the Nexus 7. The Nexus is about 1.25" less in width compared to just the keyboard on my 9" Dell hackintosh.

Little things 4.4 has that you've always wanted stock

I'll start...
T9 dialer, I noticed the other day I don't have to scroll through a list of thousands of contacts or search names, I can just open the dialer press 726 and Ramiro shows as the contact. Or 666 and Mom is who I see. 262 gets me Amanda. Etc. This is something I've been waiting for Google to implement since I got into android, so fairly exciting.
What else have you guys found?

Last check 4.3 and i think even 4.2 had the smart dialer (T9). I guess i don't have "thousands" of contacts in my phone so maybe that's why i didn't really need/use it.
They have upped the ante massively with voice recognition and particularly voice search with it being in my opinion the killer feature of 4.4. Google now while improved is still an annoying intrusion that I disabled after a day. I disliked it immediately but like to give these things a little time to see if they grow on me. The GEL is an embarrassing failure in my opinion and someone should lose their job for thinking it would be a good idea to fix the search bar on any screen let alone all of them. I know 2 others now with the N5 and we all kicked the launcher to the curb in short order.
One thing that I've seen little talk of is the stock dialer. I'm not actually sure if it's kit Kat or Google? I expected to dislike it but I actually like it and have continued to use it. It has some flaws like not searching the call log but the ability to start typing in the name of a local place and have it's number pop up before you can finish is very useful and if it wasn't for the amazing voice search (which also works in the dialer) I would probably list the dialer as the single best stock feature.

Haven't heard of this can you explain further? Double tap just auto zooms when I try it on websites.
Voice control and specifically sending a txt msg completely by voice gets my vote.

Keep your finger on the screen for the second tap and slide. It's not a KitKat feature.

IT's a 4.4 feature for google maps. You Double Click, but on the second click keep your finger on the screen and slide up or down to zoom in or out. it's a neat addition, more convenient to be exact, but nothing to special.

It's been like that for a while. Not a kit kat thing. Same for the search bar at the top of all homescreens. Been like that for a long time.
