Hey there.
I've been using a RPi as mediacenter connected to the internet over ethernet, but now I'd like to use an Samsung Galaxy Android phone running USB internet sharing for connecting.
I'm using RaspBMC in it's latest version; but I can't seem to find a way to connect to the internet using USB.
When connected via ethernet I have full control and can connect via SMB, SSH and FTP with no problem; but it seems that the RPi can't see the USB shared internet.
Have you tried the easy connect addon?

Question: why not just get a cheap, tiny wifi dongle and use the wifi hotspot on the phone to share the connection that way? Seems much easier...the dongle I use is this one:
Edimax EW-7811UN Wireless N 150Mbps USB Nano Adapter 802.11b/g/n abgn with EZmax
It's a plug-and-play item fully compatible with the Pi (meaning, you don't need to configure anything, it just works).

Because I already had the phone. But if this won't work I'll buy a wifi dongle and skip the phone. I just need to connect to the in-house network

wait, is there an app for this to help? or am i connecting thru the Pi?
Hi, I own a raspberry pi 2 with openelec (latest version available installed) and it is connected through an ethernet cable to my netgear dgn1000.
Every time I power on my rpi, Internet connection crashes in loop. I don't know how to solve this problem, nobody on the web is facing with this.

OpenELEC development is almost dead, all devs exept 1 moved on to LibreELEC, try that instead.
I've exhausted all avenues to get my Nexus 6 to connect to Chevy MyLink head unit. My Nexus 5x connects with no issues.
Here are the things I've done:
* turned on MTP mode
* tried many cables including OEM
* rooted and non-rooted
* Pure Nexus and Dirty Unicorn ROMs
* Headunit reset
* AA app reinstall
* USB debugging on and off
* clean install without restoring apps
* MTP works with PC
Is this a hardware issue?

On my phone (not a nexus) nothing worked until I tried to turn on usb tethering while plugged. This made AA start. Maybe give it a try?

@dden68, thanks for the suggestion. Gave it a try but didn't work. I'm reluctant to revert to stock because it's a pain and I give it little chance of working.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I have a Nexus 6 with a Honda Accord. I was having all kinds of issues connecting. I found that if I select PTP as my connection it works much better. The phone defaults to USB charging just click the notification and select PTP. I wish you could change the default as I have to do this every time I plug in.

As I mentioned,
I have Mi Note 10 with MIUI Android 10, and I tried to use my flydigi wasp 2 gamepad. And when it connected, I couldn't use all the touchscreen including home back button, the only thing I could do is to switch off the gamepad. And the other day , I tried Mocute One Handed Gamepad with Panda Gamepad Pro App, but the result was same. So the conclusion from my experience is Mi Note 10 cannot use gamepad who use FlashPlay
Technology. I don't know why that happened. but maybe the problem is same like redmi note 8.
Any Suggestion what I have to do ? I am thinking to install Custom ROM , but I don't think it will help
