Hi Folks, I hope I'm posting this in the right section withoud doubling another thread because I have found hints here and there but no actual, efficient solution to my problem.....
Excuse my english, I'm french and couldn't find any solution on french forums either so I'm knocking at your door....
I've always had Android devices but because of some technical issues my provider lended me a WM8 phone (Nokia Lumia 520) for a couple of months before I can get back a new Android phone.
I have the two phones with me for a couple of days but I'm having a hard time transfering some data from the WM8 phone back to my Android, especilly :
-call log (could cope without)
-pdf files (important)
-sms threads (critical)
I mainly focused on SMS's, thinking of different means I could expand upon later on if need be (app, backuping through desktop, outlook or Gmail synch, getting android to synch with OneDrive....) none of this worked so far.
Thanks in advance for your kind help
The only one you will get is the PDF files. You should be able to upload them all into OneDrive and then download them to your PC. From there, transfer them to your Android. The other two are stuck in the Windows cloud, just like how you can't transfer SMS threads from iPhone to Android.
if you come up with something, let the rest of us know!
It *might* be possible to import messages using Bluetooth. I know you can do it from Android to WP8. The other direction... never tried, no idea.

I hoped so from the very begining but I couldn't find any info about doing it the other way round as you mention :/
in the worst case, is there a means to backup those sms in order to check them later on, or print them maybe ?
Well, they're automatically backed up if you turn it on (Settings -> Backup) but that just goes to Microsoft's "cloud" and I don't know how easy it is to find / download / import it would be.

Without wasting your time discussing how I'm here...I have a bunch of calendar entries on my Tilt, all deleted in my PC, and I want to syncy the Tilt to the PC. But it comes up and tells me on the device: "There has been a change on teh server that requires you to resynchronize all items on your device. All changes made since your last successful synch will be deleted. Do you want to continue?"
If I continue, I end up with all deleted from my devie, none moved to my PC (I have them in a backup, but restoring them to the device doesn't help).
Do have have a way around this?
how many entries r we talking? i mean if 20 or less i would just type them into calendar on pc for a quick fix.
never had the issue so can't help w/way around
Well, I have probably 140 entries over several months.
The good news is I can get many back which are on my Work calendar, but maybe a not so large number that are not on my work calendar that I can't get back. But then, I need to identify what those are. That's the harder part, seaching through and figuring out which will be thre, which will not, etc.
I would think there should be a way to not have the PC be FORCED to be the master.
But, I'm not optimistic.
I'm migrating from the 6.5 roms to an android rom (Eclair Dark Theme) and wanted to ask if there was an app that can decode the PIM backup files so I can extract my contacts and messages, etc. Anything out there?
Moved as not ROM Development..
Oh ok sorry. either way hope someone can help ^_^
Actually I'm afraid you won't be moving to an Android ROM, you get to keep your present ROM and run Android off SD card, since we're not able to install Android in ROM yet.
Not sure if you can migrate your PIM data to android, but since you won't actually be losing them when you run android, I don't think it will be a big problem.
I'm sure there will be a way of doing it, just never really had that much data I'd be willing to trust to Android ports yet
i'm not sure if android reads pim backup files...but lets rephrase the question. i believe the intent is to get one's contacts and messages imported on to android?
if so, i THINK you can synch your windows mobile with google synch...and then boot into android and synch android with google synch to pull the contacts onto your android installation. maybe google synch can work for messages as well? i haven't tried any of this but i would imagine it should be possible, because android and google synch are both google products...
good solution
so i had the same problerm that i had to move all my contacts amd text messages and whatever from windows mobile to android...
i searched google for alsmost 3 hours to find out how to move pim contacvts and backups to android but u cant...
but a good solution for that is sprite mobile
then go to migrate and then there are three steps to migrate contacts texts and everything from windows mobile to android...
u just need a pc and thats it...xD
good luck with that...
whenn u have any questions pm me!
nick
there's migration tool from Windows Mobile to Android, check Sprite Migrate! well it covers 3 data areas yet.. and unfortunately there's no way to recover the contacts groups(

Hi sox
Thanks for the link, can someone help me here. As I'm unsure on how to overcome this, also want to move over sms and call logs if possbile. I'm new to Android may be a step by step.
Thanks in advance.
well, as long as you have contacts on your sim, you should be able to have them and copy when you boot android. Depending on the sim crd you have you can save X amount of sms on it.

I know this is a long shot, but the only thing I miss when I upgraded to GalaxyS from my TouchHD is that I am not able to sync with my MicrosoftMoney. I have tried many possibilities but there isnt anything that allows me to have a selected view of my desktop MicrosoftMoney application on my phone and edit it on the phone and sync once in a while with my desktop application back.
I know google will never release anything which makes talking easy for microsoft products - we know how outlook syncing is difficult. But anybody has any workarounds to this?
Please share if you have any ideas.
Thanks
There are a few apps that allow you to use your PC from the phone. Not sure how goof they are but it may be a workaround. (use MS Money on the PC direct from the phone).
Microsoft hasn't released versions of Money since 2007 0.o And honestly, you are the only person I have EVER heard of using it (maybe why they stopped)
Have you considered upgrading to an actively maintained product?
Ive been a committed HTC and WM user for a long time now, so latest upgrade i maintained tradition and went HTC HD 7.
At the minute im not sure it was the right one
Lovely fluid interface and fast. But its just not 'easy'..... or something..... I cant put my finger on it. lol
So can some convinced users help me here/ fill me in (and in the process enlighten other newbies).
1/ Battery meter. Only seem to have it when locked. How can i get that into a more prominent place or have it appearing all the time?
2/ No Opera for WM7 Any other browser alternatives out there for us??
3/ Any way for me to get my SPB backups from touch pro 2 onto this thing???
4/ Recommendations for the absolute BEST backup solution
5/ Other advice for porting contacts from another phone
Thats some of my first thoughts- only got the phone yesterday.
In general as well id really welcome recommended app's to help make this powerful piece of kit into a really useful and worthwhile one.
Thanks in advance for any feedback

1) you can simply swipe down where the battery meter is ont the tiles page.
2) Windows Phone 7 is a new OS, hence not alot of Apps currently, give it time, according to this quote on WPCentral "With regards to bringing Opera Mobile to the Windows Phone 7 platform, Norem states that the company is continuously evaluating that option." so you never know.
3) Are we talking contacts? you can back them up in PIMBackup, and expert the CSV file (I think) to a google account, and then synch that account with your windows phone 7!
4) ZUNE? when you update your phone, im pretty sure it makes a backup onto your pc/laptop
5) See post 3!
Hope that helps.
1. Just tap the top of the screen, and the battery, wifi, cell connection all pop down. There is currently no way (that I know of) to display it permanently.
2. There are other browsers out there, but they're all built on top of IE. Mango will introduce IE9. IE9 is pretty nice.
3. It's a whole new OS, with very little in common with it's WM predecessors. You couldn't even use Microsoft MyPhone backups.
4. Zune.
5. I would import them into your live (msn, hotmail, live) account over gmail. Personal preference.
Apps:
Amazon Kindle
Amazon.com
Break.com videos
DailyMotion
Espn ScoreCenter
Facebook
Flixter
FM Radio
MSNBC News
The Daily Show
The Onion 7
XDA-Developers
While the app list isn't huge, there's over 15,000 on the marketplace and growing.
If you've not updated your phone to NoDo, do yourself a favor and install Zune. It'll backup your phone prior to updating as well.
I'll contradict Jimbonics above by saying i'd recommend using gmail over hotmail to backup your contacts.
Only reason is i never managed to sync my phone contacts (which were imported from my old sim) to my Hotmail/Live account, which meant when i reflashed the phone i lost them all. One of my friends has a similar problem and is also unable to backup his contacts he has on his phone to hotmail.
Since i added them all to my Gmail account though everything has been fine. I can add new ones on Gmail and they sync up to my phone, or I can add new contacts on my phone and they sync up to gmail. I haven't heard of anyone else (yet?) having problems with Gmail Sync's either.
Hi All, I know this is a big ask, but is there anyone out there who could help me please to extract/export/whatever all of the SMSs and MMSs from my now quite old stock standard HTC HD7 phone that has Windows Phone 7.8 running on it? The about screen says it is/has:
Model: HTC HD7 T9292
OS version: 7.10.8862.144
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51201.728
Hardware revision number: 0002
… (details of radio, not included)
Bootloader version: 5.12.2250.0(135240)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
I've only in the past week (finally) converted from a Windows Phone (Lumia 950) to a Galaxy Note 9, and was able to transfer all of the SMS/MMS from it, which I've been able to keep since moving to WP8. These are all the messages since I had to move from the HD7, i.e. the HD7 has all previous SMS/MMS messages. I'd really like these migrated too as there are many messages in there that have significant sentimental value to me.
If it will help, I'm prepared to pay for this assistance.
The app I used to transfer the messages from the Lumia 950 to the Note 9 is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smsbackup.leonardocezary.smsimporter.pro,. which did a fantastic job.
For my desktop PC, I have a HP WS that is running the latest version of Windows 10 Pro. From research done so far, I've managed to install Zune and the HD7 connects ok with it.
But after that it gets a bit too complicated for me to do on my own. I tried installing the Windows Phone 7 SDK, but it complained that some .NET 4 components were incompatible and asked me to uninstall them, which I didn't want to do in case that stuffed up other things I'm running on the PC.
If anyone is willing to take this on as a project, I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
wow, it was all a long time ago (6+ years) and the brain cells are not what they used to be
I cant seem find the thread where I mentioned that I did this yet (the xda user history doesnt go back that far)
I have some old files but also trying to remember what I did lol.
Basically, I had an sms backup program that would output to a formatted file which I manipulated using UltraEdit until it was the same format as the "sms backup & restore" (on the playstore) program I use on Android.
I had some plans to automate it but gave up on windows 7 and it just became a novelty to dual boot it on my old HD2.
Do you have an app that can backup your sms's to some kind of formatted file?
EDIT: how about this? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346276
more likely this? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448197
haha, just found it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26338246&postcount=85
and the next few posts.
As long as you can get some formatted text version of your messages fomr WP7, you will be able to re-format it to suit backup and restore (eventually )
I think there was also some problem in the way time was recorded and had to convert from unix epoch time (just to make it more interesting)
Try to check that the contact names are in the file otherwise you will have to a search/replace of the phone numbers.
I would offer to have a go with your file but I understand that there may be a lot of personal data that you really dont want to be sending out.
good luck
Hi!
I home you don't actually hope I remember something!!
well, actually...
Digging in my old files, I found a bunch of xml with all SMSs.
Looking for the xml name on google, I remebered!
https://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-backup-restore-wp7-sms-export-to-pc-smsbackup-homebrew/
this application was the one I used to export it from the phone, then I created a small app to convert it in some db format.
