SP 3D movie app with glasses! - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey every MEDIA expert out there!
I just got myself a pair of 3D glasses yesterday and want to know if there is any application on the play store (or any APK for that matter) to watch a normal movie in 3D effects like a 3D movie??
Like on the PC we have KMplayer to function as a 3D player.. .

XSP does not have 3D screen so not possible I suppose

It is impossible.

It is totally possible.
All you have to do is to get a video converter which converts your regular video to a Cyan/Red video ( stereoscopic 3D video ) and get a pair of (or make one at home) Anaglyph - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_3D glasses.
Then all you have to do it, convert your video, transfer it to your phone, put on those glasses and start watching it in 3d.
*You don't want to watch that video for more than 1 hour because it can make you squint....................
just kidding
It won't make you squint but my eyes hurt every time I watch a stereoscopic 3D video.
Good luck

Coreplayer for Xperia jerky and skips.

Guys i recently installed coreplayer for xperia. The issue i faced is the video playback is not upto the mark. Its kinda jerky and stops skips videos in between and not smooth.
Has anyone faced this issue with X1 by the way my friend has omnia and the same verison of coreplayer installed on his cell but the video playback is perfect without any skips.
same here...bought x1 5 days ago tried everything and that piece of crap doesnt work same as coreplayer :/ i downloaded the Video...Encoding...GUI_Full.HD stuff which converts video...converted one but the movie on X1 doesnt look like a movie !! it looks like a slideshow but guess what windows media player plays this video Perfectly...written by the big P so im asking wtf ??
the X1 does have some performance issues. this has been discussed several times in the past
the omnia performs a lot better because it has a much faster CPU and because the resolution is 1/4th of that of the xperia so it does not need to work as hard to get smooth playback
core player doesnt support x1 hardware acceleration... thats the main problem there
ok ok but what to do ? im playing aroung with it from the day i bought it and nothing that i tried helped and im a bit frustrated :/ i dont wanna use wmp
Maybe you should get an IPhooon its click and play no hussle and stuff no need to tweak and every thing works (well every thing that comes with it)
install custom rom... gfx booster... convert videos with tool posted here on forums and play them in media panel... no lag at all...
Media panel and converted movies is best solution. And no, you don't need custom rom.
Crystal player is just useless. Yeah, it's sad.
well thats wierd, i play 700mb highres avi files on coreplayer without any problem, maybe its the videos you try to play..? i only face lagging with flv files.
btw i have stock uk r3aa010
I found that some people find 80% speed 'perfect'. I can spot single dropped frame.
Run benchmark a post the results, subjective value is meaningless.
And yes, of course, it does depend on the movie. I play most of the 700mb movies under 90%.
i have not had any problems with coreplayer either....
The movie i am playing is in mkv format and around 500megs in size

Me neither. 80% is what I usually get as speed with 1.3.2. Btw this DVD-Rip may be some small resolution, like 640x272.
I just don't get it, such a good phone with such a lousy movie playing capabilities.
OK... here's the facts.
It's all about perception. Some individuals can watch a movie that displays at 24fps (frames per second, which is the standard) and see a perfectly smooth movie. The brains fills in the gaps between each image and creates the illusion of full motion.
Some lucky individuals can look at a movie playing at 20fps and still see a smooth movie while most of us will perceive it as jerky.
Some unlucky individuals (myself included) find anything less than 30 fps to be jerky.
And finally. Coreplayer + xvid files do not use the acceleration feature of the chipset hence the standard *cough* downloaded tv show will usually be and 624 x 352 with a 912Kbps bit rate (These are average stats)
Will run at about 80%-85% framerate on your X1 giving you a fps of about 20fps.
If you reenconde using the sticky programme GUI you can play the same file at 100% USING ONLY WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER/MEDIAL PANEL!!! (coreplayer will still run it at 85% ish)
Yes .. I just want those people who can watch movies at 80% to realize how lucky they are
Well, there has been so many threads on this subject...
I don't see where the problem is to use Windows Media Player to watch a movie, it's just perfect. Files that cannot be opened by WMP (like flv for example) can be opened with CorePlayer, that's nice.
I don't want to hurt anybody, but maybe people whose mind totally deny this very simple concept should may be go to see a psy We have the right tools, they work perfectly, so why do you want to re-invent the wheel ?
Well most people want to watch AVI movies .. and those are not watchable in WMP and jerky in CorePlayer. If you don't want to watch them, good for you.

[Q] Need Android Video Player / Windows Video Converter that can Crop Aspect Ratio

Hi Everybody,
I'm having a great time with SGS's default video player (certainly the best player for android, bettering the third party players).
But there is one small problem I'm facing with this player.
I'm having loads of movies in my hard disk and I'm using Media Player Classic to see it in my monitor and I press the button 'NumPad 9' to zoom to my desired level, as I hate the 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
But in SGS video player, there is no option to do so. There is one great option to "fit to screen". But that stretches the video. Is there any player, through which I can Crop the Aspect Ratio (or Zoom the video)?
If not, Can you guys help me find a video converter that just crops the aspect ratio of the video alone (no conversion, only cropping of aspect ratio), there by it doesn't take a lot of time to convert a particular video.
As of now, I'm using XiliSoft Video Converter.
I'm having D930 CPU. It is taking 200 mins to convert a video file of 2 hr length.
And the funny part here is, the video itself is 700mb. But I'm converting it to 900mb video (but still the quality is reduced) and it takes a lot of time and CPU energy.
If only there was a player to crop/zoom aspect ratio or a converter that just crops the aspect ratio, I CAN SKIP the HOURS of video conversion on my PC.
Help me out guys!!!!
Edit: BTW, if there is any such player to zoom aspect ratio, it'd be great if it plays all kinds of formats like our default player does.
Edit2: Tried Act1 Video Player. Didn't Help. There is an option to crop, but didn't work on SGS
currently i'm using mVideoPlayer, i've not been able to find a better one at this time
i know exactly what you mean, i watch a lot of foreign videos on my phone and sometimes the source aspect ratio is just not encoded properly, if you put it all full screen it looks weird, if you leave it as it, it also looks weird
a good video player software supporting subtitles files and option to control the video aspect ratio would do wonders
the first video i put on mine that was 2 hours was chup chup ke ....im sure you know that one haha sounds like your putting some long bollywood films on there.
BTW, act1video player is cool in cropping and zooming. They've got that option, but it doesn't work on galaxy s as of now
Hope they ll fix this issue soon
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7458822
my only concern with the SGS's Video player & mVideoplayer is that the fast forward/rewind is slow. when you ff a video using the time line, it'll take a few seconds to play.
This became a concern when I was defending my SGS against my friend's iFAG4. We used the same Avatar Video that i downloaded, when my friend ff/rewind the video on his iFAG4, we can see every frame while moving the timeline and immediately plays the video.
Pre-cropping the video on your pc is a no-go for you, since you will always have to re-encode it as well. Still, if you have no better options, I'd recommend Virtualdub for the job.
still no solution?
Thanks by advance guys!
Best program out there for video conversion!

unbelievable!
I give up!
If u guys at XDA have no answer, then there is no vid player for android that can crop. period!
when i watch movies on galaxy s2, the movie is a little strip of film between two huge black bars.
stretching wouldn't work in this case, coz people would look like they are falling into a black hole throughout the movie
core player and other players did a beautiful job in WM6.5! and wm6.5 is considered a fossil when compared to androids latest (like gingerbread).
makes u wonder... why does android have more than 200 million users...
In fact.... I really cannot understand why android is continuously loaded up with tons of potentially wonderful features, but all the users are punctually pissed off by poor implementations that make these features pointless.
Sadly, I'm starting to think that android is just an OS for "surprising friends" rather than an OS intended for actually enjoying your device.
Still searching for a player to crop the aspect ratio of a video.
mVideoplayer and ACT 1 video player has the option to crop to zoom. But both doesn't work Galaxy S
I use mVideoplayer with my SGS, and the crop/zoom options worked fine with Froyo 2.2.1.
After the 2.3.3 update, mVideoplayer is unable to zoom. Only stretching is possible, of course with black bars and wrong aspect ratio.

thanx for the attempt bro, but no thanx.
this is not a solution. it's not even a workaround. the device itself is still not cropping anything.
we wanna throw any vid in there and play with the right aspect ratio, without any bars, making use of ALL of the screen. simple.
You may try Asoftech video converter which helped me before, download from: Windows video converter

Haven't you ever heard of the app MX Player? It can do exactly what you are thriving for here. Try it.

Come on in if you know anything about video transcoding.

I'm trying to learn how to take hi -def movies in various video formats and convert them to a bluray format so I can burn it to a bluray disc to play on my PS3 and stand alone bluray player. So far I've tried to use avs video converter, avchdcoder, and multiavchd. It's definetly challenging to learn how to create cool looking menus, get the audio to be in sync, and not get any errors. Does anyone have a favorite software they use and any tips? Its frusturating to wait 3-5 hours to convert a movie just to find out there are errors lol. Dvds are easy to create ....it's the blurays that are challenging. I would love to hear some feedback.
Use THIS site as they helped me figure video editing out. But let me warn you about PS3 3.56 Firmware update - Sony has just made it so that it will detect a signature in pirated video; the PS3 will only play homevideos now (unless you know how to decode video ;} )

Yeah that's a good idea. A lot of the movies come with samples. See....I'm learning.
Edit : videohelp is a really good forum....I've been using it.
Ok so I transcoded a 8gb mkv to a bluray ISO....took 7 hours. Went to burn it using imgburn and got a error part way through. Guess I need to stop using cheap discs.

Stop right there. Both your PS3 and Bluray player can play x264 (and all profilesm too, I believe), PS3 also plays xvid/divx/h263, you BD player might too.
Most HD movies that are shared used the x264 codec for video and AC3 or DTS for audio, and in a Matroska (MKV) container.
They will not play on a PS3 (and most likely BD player) due to a lack of support for mkv. You'll need to remux the file in to an MPEG Transport Stream (.ts), after you do this they should be fine on both. I'm not entirely sure if DTS can be muxed in to ts, you might need to convert it to AC3 first, no biggie.
Well I took a shared movie and converted it to avchd using avchdcoder ....the conversion went fine and took a total of 7 hours....burned it to a blank bluray and didn't work in the ps3. The custom menu I created works fine but when the movie started is wouldn't play right. Have no idea why. When I get home ill have to take a closer look. Frusturating for sure. I can use avs video converter which is easy to use and works well but it down converts 6ch audio to 2ch.
Why are you spending hours encoding video and degrading the image quality when you don't have to? *Just* for custom menus?
Yeah pretty much. Just certain movies though. Most movies I just keep on a nas drive and watch them through my laptop which is hooked up to my home theater via wireless HDMI. It's a pretty cool setup actually.

The best player for 3d Films.

Hello.
I have a lot of 3d films(around 300-400gb) and I want to watch them on my Gear Vr Light. I have tested so far few players but to be honest i am not happy with them.
Every one have strong and bad sides.
How do I watch them?
- share folder on my laptop
- open network location through Es File Explorer(best explorer on earth!!!)
Open with..... :
1. AAA VR Cinema
2. Vr Cinema
3. Vr Player
4. Cardboard Theater
5. VRTV Free
6. Kodi
Not all of them support this feature and (specially in free version)
I also tried to open movies in MxPLayer and BSPlayer. But it did not work to well.
For me right now for some films best option is Kodi since the reality of the 3d is the highest from all players but it open's only Side by Side films and can't zoom out screen so you sometimes see only middle of the picture.
For many other reason the best is AAA Vr Cinema. You can play both SbS and HoU movies, you can set dimension of the screen, quality of the immersion is nice, but manage of the player is terrible. It is very hard to rewind forward or backward to the point you like.
All players have also one big minus. AC3 support or better to say lack of this support. So I must convert all movies to mp4 which is time consuming.
I am still waiting searching for better player or the best option to open movies in stock Gear Vr player with support of HoU/SbS and Ac3 not to mension that playing ISO files would be also nice welcome.
So... what player are you using and why?

"Gear Vr Light" is just a marketing name of Consumer Edition(99$)
And to stay on subject.
Since yesterday for me the best option to watch 3d, 360 or any movie is to stream them to milkvr(search for the topic in Gear Vr thread)
It gives you the highest quality I have seen so far in any 3d video player.
Minus is that films must be in mp4 and that you need to install Emby on your pc to be able to stream films to your phone. Is it worth? Heallyeah!!

Cause When you have Samsung galaxy S6 Edge+ with 32gb and you have some aps(Eternity Warriors 4, Heartstone, NFS...), few mp3 flac albums you have 4-6gb letf on your sd card. If you want to have a good quality your mp4 will have around 8gb.
I have a folder with MP4 on my PC ~400gb and I watch any film I like, laying on my sofa.
It is really very simple

Does someone now how i can access my NAS Server directly ?
Now i use ESFileExplorer Pro /Network/NAS and than choose open with VRTV.
I have to do that for each file.
Is there a better solution ?
Thanks,

Tried CMoare Demo. always crashes when trying to connect to network
Found 2 Players that work great with network access.
My favorite is Archos Video Player.
Works great and you can choose in the Player between Archos Player or different Player to play Videos .
To change "the other Player" i have to disable this Player with AppDisabler Pro.
So this is really great.
The ohter one is VRange VRPlayer that comes with a little Programmfor for PC, where you just drop Files in a Window and than you can watch them on your Phone.

some app to watch 3d movies of all formats

I have managed to watch one movie with 3d and it was awesome. Unluckily there are few with aac audio and sbs together so either i watch movies in 3d withouth audio or audio withouth 3d. I have installed an app, pavtube ultimate, just to convert videos and i have followed the guide to convert videos, putting the right output format, but it simply does not work. Sometimes the movies are splitted in 4 even if i put them in the "3d" folder, other times they are splitted in 2 parts but not merged as in 3d, so after many attempts (and one convertion lasts about 2-3 hours in my pc), i have given up. I want to see 3d movies but not to get frustrated in the conversion process. So i simply wonder, since the problem is that default video reader does not see the ac3 audio format which is the most common in downloaded (legally i mean! ) 3d movies, if there is another app which does the thing. Unfortunately, i have even tried the other way to overcome the problem, which was to add some files in the system directory and... after, the phone could not play ANY audio or video files... so i had to delete everything and flash the new samsung firmware (i am not a real nerd so i have wasted an afternoon to achieve that).
Have you tried Milk VR?
I have watched jurassic world, terminator genesis, avatar, transformers and a few others and all work perfectly. The only one I had problems with was an "adult film" which the sound didn't work and all I hear is static (which was so loud, so turn sound down each time just in case). But for my normal films Milk VR works. It's my pick of 360 videos too. You can manually pick the screen setting in play.

2-3 hours???
You need to re-encode only the sound - it takes 10-20 minutes in the program "MediaCoder".
Find the YouTube video "Gear VR Oculus Video in 3D" and "Смотреть 3D фильм в Oculus Video для Gear VR" - it is in Russian, but it should be understood.
Create folders in Oculus->Movies:
"3D_LR_videos" - side-by-side
"3D_LRF_videos" - side-by-side full screen
"3D_TB_videos" - top-to-bottom"
"3D_TBF_videos" - top-to-bottom full screen
"3D_360_videos" - 360 video
"3D_360_TB_videos" - 360 top-to-bottom
"3D_360_LR_videos" - 360 side-by-side
Copy the folder your video depending on their size - side-by-side / top-to-bottom or video with a 360 degrees - and they will be available in "Oculus video" app in the "My Videos"
how about those movie split horizontally , what app to make it vertical ?
Moon player, does everything no need to add txt files. not had an issue with any movie 3d or 2d.
All I do is open the movie in the Samsung Internet oculus app. Then I choose the video format and walla! 3DTB, 3DSBS, 180, 360, They all work.

How is the experience of watching a 3D movie on the gear VR? Tbh, that's the biggest draw for me where VR is concerned. I've already burnt myself buying a 3D TV which is completely pointless so wanna make sure I go with my eyes open while buying an s7/ s8 with VR.

There are many free 3D video players including: ArcSoft Total Media Theatre 6, NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player, Corel WinDVD Pro 11, Cyberlink PowerDVD 14 Ultra, VLC Media Player, Potplayer, Wondershare Player, 3D Video Player, KM Player, DepthQ Player, all those 3D media players can easily play 3D movies and also some common 2d formats, some even has the capability to convert your 2D video to 3D video, or enables you to switch between different 3D mode: Side by Side, Top and Bottom and Anglyph.
