Warranty - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

What is the warranty on the S5 after 14 days if it is getting hot and shutting off from time to time and speaker is raspy/crackling? And am it gets hot 105°.
Is their a restocking fee on it?
What should I do?

I had the same thing happen to me. I called on day 12 and I wanted to replace it with the Active. They didn't have it in stock at the store so At&t noted the account that I was having issues with my s5. On day 17 (Past 14 days) I called one night to customer service. I told them about my issue and said the account should be notated. He had to ask his manager for a approval of "Buyer remorse swap" I said whatever it takes, I have a defective device. Long story short I was on the phone for over an hour but 2 days later I got a brand new Camo Active by Fed-Ex at my door. It was worth it. The Active is 10 x better all around.
Call customer service and see what you can get done.

Thats not real helpful. Everybody experiences different calls with At&t. I have been with them 19 years so they over-rid their policy.
Same could happen for this man.
So HERE

It wasn't meant as an attack, sorry if I came off that way. I have never had any problems with AT&T customer service. Knowing some of the users here, I just kind of assumed this was his first place to try.

I thought it was 14 days to return it no matter what 30 days if defective?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A

You are correct in return policy through AT&T. After 14 days it should be returned to Samsung. You might be able to take it to AT&T and they might ship it out for you... Big maybe.

Bad news for anyone who is waiting for a warranty exchange on their Nexus 4.

As I know there are many of us out there with defective handsets I thought I should pass this on. I originally received my nexus 4 on 11/29 (defective of course), I called the next day to order a warranty replacement and was told the process and that the estimated ship date was less than one week. This was actually stated on my receipt as well. After receiving no information by 12/7 I called to check on my exchanges status only to be told an error was made on my exchange request but they corrected it and it would ship at the latest by Tuesday, 12/11.
Soooo, I call today since still no word and I was told a specialist would research my order and update me directly within 48 hours. Now the clincher, this is what the specialist sent me:
"Hi again D____ ,
I've received a response from the specialist. Due to high demand, replacements for the Nexus 4 are being delayed in shipping out. The current estimate is that they will ship in 3-5 weeks.*I'm sincerely sorry for the inconvenience."
So, how do you like them apples?

I purchased my N4 the first day (US), and received it the week later. I had some SIM card reader issues, eventually got around to activating a new SIM to confirm my issues..still didn't work, so I called Nexus support this Monday night. They filed an RMA. The phone was shipped out Tuesday morning via 2-day air and arrived today. I am shipping my old one back tomorrow.
I hate to say it, but I think you got unlucky (I was very afraid I was going to have to wait weeks as well).
Yeah that'd really unlucky i got my RMA 3 days after I called. But at least u can hold onto the original till the replacement ships

When you do the rma, do they charge you for the second until they get the defect back? I really need to send mine in due to the charger port working maybe 50% of the time but can't have another 400$ tied up with Google that long again.

no, they will not do that. once ups gets it, google is informed.
OP if you check your nexus 4 status it'll say preorder. I got the same issue as you. Still waiting on Google to ship. I called them up asking about the the 21 days to return the defective unit if I don't receive my replacement in time. They said I'll still be charged even if they can't send it out in time. Her name isf Emily ( or Emilia ).

OK a bit off topic..I ordered a N4 off ebay(unused/factory sealed) and should be here tomorrow. If, heavens forbid, the phone is defective am i still covered by google?/ in that case who do i contact for a warranty exchange??!
Seller doesn't accept returns and says under the product description "if there is any problem with the phone you go deal with google directly"
I called Monday about starting an RMA, was told by the CSR (Katie) that I would receive an email about it. I thought it was strange she didn't ask me to do a survey, and she was pretty much uninterested the entire call. I gave it till today, then decided to phone back in and see if I had indeed been started with an RMA. Shocker, I had not. Morgan, who was quite helpful, started up the RMA right away. I got my email and the cart to order the RMA, etc. If Google thinks they're holding a $349 authorization charge on my card for 3-5 weeks, they're ****ing high.
Let us know if you get any updated info.

You may get trouble going to Google and they may refer you to LG.
I make it a point to never buy from eBayers that do not accept returns.

Does anyone know if this will be stuck at the same yellow screen for another week, just like usual? Or does it actually ship?
If you're lucky it gets updated the same day, as I've seen. If you're unlucky you may get it tomorrow, or get lost in the abyss. Here's to hoping for you.

Asurion Replacement

So I lost my beloved One last week and I'm still waiting on Asurion to ship me a phone. Has anyone had to get an insurance replacement yet and if so how long did it take? Every rep I speak to gives me a different time frame. Some say 1-3 days and some say 7-10 business days. I'm getting antsy and want my One back.

last week and no phone yet ?
You need to get Sprint on that as well
retention number 888-273-9460
Retentions pretty much said "Sorry about your luck" and told me to open a new line for a phone if I couldn't wait 3 weeks for an insurance replacement and didn't want to pay retail. Kind of let down over Sprints customer service through this process. I love paying for service and not having a phone.
I just dropped my One and the screen is shattered, plan to file a claim soon. Biggest worry I have is that they won't give me a One but a different phone. I don't mind waiting a few weeks if thats what it takes. Thoughts?

How does everyones phone get lost or stolen from them? Isnt a phone something you keep in your pocket when not in use?
I have a feeling people are just taking advantage of Asurion policies on lost and stolen phones.
I heard they getting rid of that policy really soon anyway.

So I just got off of the phone with Asurion and they're telling me they seem to be getting regular inventory of our phones in now. They said mine should ship no later than Thursday. I stil find it ridiculous that this is taking weeks but at least I'll get one soon.
I actually went to Sprint and paid full price for a new One this weekend after another talk with retentions. They told me to do that and take it back after my insurance replacement comes in. Seems a little extreme I should have to shell out 600 bucks while waiting weeks for an insurance replacement but they promised me the restocking fee would be waived.
Also to the guy claiming there's too many people abusing insurance replacements; sorry sir but not all of us live in a perfect world. My phone actually walked off from one of the more classy bars in St. Louis where you wouldn't think there are any shady characters around. I set it on the bar for less than 2 minutes inches from me and somebody was smooth enough to swipe it without me or anyone else in my group noticing. There are thieves around regardless of where you are and thinking there isn't is pretty naive.

Wife lost note 4

OK so long story short, my wife claims someone stole her note 4 while at the swap meet. Her first mistake was having it resting on the baby stroller where anyone can snatch it, instead of in her pocket/purse. I already called t-mobile to suspend that account and blacklist it, how much is it gonna cost me to get a new or refurbished device if I'm on the jump/protection plan.

150 dollars, and you will get a new phone, its too early for returns in order to have refurbished ones

Then the employees in your store just put the wrong sticker on and don't know what there doing. I can guarantee if you want to return it the system would have auto generated a 75 dollar restocking fee and the manager would have to adjust it. Same thing with iPhone 6 plus. [Q] Tmobile note 4 replacment quality

Hello I pre-ordered galaxy note 4 and its having issues. The phone doesnt charge properly...i have to plug it in and out couple times for the phone to recognize that it is connected to charger and "dock is connected" notification is keep coming up..so i called tmobile and since warranty is issued, they are going to send out a replacement. My comcern is that they are probably going to send a refurb without any accessories right? I heard some rare instances they send out brand new but most likely its refurb. Anyone has an experience with tmobile refurbs? Are they any good or bad?
Thank you
They probably don't have any refurbished units yet, so you may get a new one. Have got tried another charger? I've seen a couple reports of the adaptive chargers failing.
I will let you know, my replacement is due to be delivered 2nd Dec ( I ordered it earlier today from 611 ). I will check and it and post back for you. I know it sucks to get a refurbed but so long as I dont get one that was rejected by another XDA forum, then I should be good to go HAHAH
Thx for the reply
yes i have my wife got the same phone so tried her charger on my phone and my charger on her phone and its my phone that is having issues. Rep told me that i might be getting a new one but the terms are "brand new or like new" so he has no idea but when he was going through instruction he said it will come with no accessories. .idk if he is reading written terms or telling me i am getting a refurb...

Right fair enough. They said that as I didn't have "insurance" then it would be regular 7day ground delivery. Which will take me over my 14 day refund time frame. Shame but such is life.
I remember a couple of years ago when I was with AT&T they swapped out my GS4 at one of their authorized repair centers. The IMEI label on the back was different to the original one as it didn't have the Samsung logo on it so was definitely a refurbished unit. But worked well.
The T Mobile rep mentioned the same stuff to me as well. Saying it will be just the phone minus battery etc. But she did mention that it was coming directly from the manufacturer whoever that is in T Mobiles language maybe Assurion or Samsung?
My current build date according to the box is 11/5/14 previous to that it was 11/4/14. Made in crappy Vietnam. My perfect note 3 was made in prestigious China haha.

Rumor has it that its approx 2 months before refurbs are ready after initial launch by Samsung.
Either way, does anyone know if the refurbed Galaxy phones are proceeded by a third party vendor for and behalf of t mobile or are they done by the manufacturer Samsung?

Well I can vouch for that. First rep insisted I goto store for replacement and then when she finally realized I wasn't wanting to take that route told me they had no stock LOL. The very same rep also told me to just send my Cel Fi signal booster back without a return label. Glad I didn't listen to her as the second rep needed the imei of the signal booster and created me a return label. That could have cost me $500.

$50 credit

Just called tmo and was able to get a $50 credit due to the price drop and having bought the gs6 in the last 30 days. Give them a call if you recently picked up the phone before the price drop. Good luck.

Not to mention a 128GB device when I originally bought a 64GB one. You just need to be polite and they'll do anything for you. If one representative says no, hang up and call again.
Yes, I did adopt early. Preordered and had it delivered the very next day, on Friday.
I did not get netflix it was online only. I chose to get it at a store and no I did not get $100 Visa card or and upgrade to 128gb. Because I got mine full price the wee it came out. I even tried the $50 rebate for memorial day and was declined. I personally did not get one single promotional offer.

Oh and I was very polite but I was not persistant enough. Maybe if I had more time I could have gotten something.

You should have tried the Netflix promo because it worked for any s6 within a time frame. They said it was only for pre-orders but it worked for both my phones I bought in store.

Samsungs had a website that you gave your imei and mac adress to verify your had a activated s6. After verification they emailed a Netflix code that put over a hundred dollar credit to your account.

Well to be fair it was supposed to be only for pre-orders and they got a insert with the promo info. It just happened to work with non pre-ordered phones. I think it was worded like the first 50,000 pre orders get the Netflix promo.

lucky them!
I bought my S6 on release day in a T-Mobile store. I got the Netflix deal with no problem. My wife upgraded from the Note 4 to the S6 Edge about 2 weeks before the price drop ? I called and they took $100 from the overall EIP. I'm cool with that!

to all those who got the phones on the first week of the launch
i was the first one to get the phone from a store on the launch day april 11
i was rejected for the $50 memorial day gift as it wasnt in their time frame for purchase on top of that people who got the phone a month later got the 64gb s6 for the price of 32 gb
so overall we were fools to get this phone on the first week
i wrote a letter to the customer relations @ Tmobile and they responded in a week saying the do understand the situation but cannot change the terms in the promotion , however they still went ahead and gave me a $50 credit on my bill

Some of you might have been fools for buying within the first week but I can tell you right now I was not. I knew I was not going to get the best price and miss out on alot of deals by buying the first week, I just wanted the phone and didn't want to wait.

Yeah but for all of us who bought it the first week and paid way more than we should have. We all get shafted. Nothing. No appreciation. A big fat one for us. Thanks T mobile.

Are you really upset because you paid top dollar and bought it the very week it came out? Are you new to buying -anything-? That's how EVERYTHING works. when something new and shiny comes out it's expensive as crap, after the initial few weeks it slowly starts dropping in price until its outdated and massively cheap or not even on the market anymore. How is someone having to explain this to you?

I would -LOVE- for you to break down how all this occurred in a step by step format so others could benefit from your way of handling their customer service in the future if you'd be so kind please. Due to various issues with Tmobile screwing me over and me finally figuring it out (related to their "warranty" that doesnt warranty -anything-) and ongoing issues within my account, I was given a MASSIVE discount on the S6, 2 free phones and 200 dollars credit, but again that was mostly due to me realizing theyve been screwing me over for a -long- while, then not giving in until they evened the score properly. (Also got the netflix promo, but that was unrelated to their compensation)

The netflix promotion was available for any and all S6/Edges during the promo timeframe, I got mine in-store the day it came out and was able to use the online promo for netflix without issue

I'm all for trying to get freebies and do it myself regularly, but if you are -honestly- upset that you got "screwed" over because you didn't get a cheaper price or special goodies on an initial release purchase, you're just being silly. that's how EVERYTHING works. the early adopters get the highest price and often buggy product in return for being "The first of the first". how does anyone not get that? It happens with quite literally everything, with technology being a leader in example.
