Hello,
Using sense 2.1 (rom gen.Y D2 R4/5) , "my location" always sets to Quebec, Quebec when I am actually in Montreal, Quebec. Is there any way to manually set it?
Else anyone has firgured out a fix?
Thanks.
::EDIT:: I can add Montreal as a location, it's the 'my location' tab that doesn't recognize that I am in Montreal and not Quebec.
Has this happened on any other ROM's? Also, what radio do you have?
Tried different radios with same result. This occurs on every rom I try with the my location feature.

When you say "my location" feature are you referring to google maps?
If so this may be an issue with the google maps application.
Have you tried various gps apps to see if the other apps give the same results?

Google maps reports my location properly on the map, it is the my location in HTC sense for weather/time that is incorrect. Is google feeding the data to sense?

Ah Ok! That clears that up.
No google maps has nothing to do with htc sense.
Sorry, I don't know much about htc sense. I would think someone has figured out how to edit it manually or has created a fix to point htc sense time/weather to an alternate server to give more accurate data though.
May be the problem is google maps.
Seriously, I have this same problem with my htc sense. If I travel further into London however, it seems to work, but displays the wrong location by about half a mile. But where I live it just doesnt work at all. I've manually set my location because it doesnt work.

Same here...I set it manually, but it reverts back after some time.

Hmm...Is there a selection somewhere that resets/updates your location automatically? Maybe that can be switched off?
Not that I know of. If you disable the my location feature, it will still show up as "My location" but will not update.

How did you set it manually?
I have tried using Advanced Configuration Tool but it doesn´t work at all.
Thanks!

I take it nobody has sorted this out yet from the deafening silence.
Very annoying don't have this trouble with Winmo sence on my HD2.
This is driving me and the GF wrong.
My location
Hi
so did anyone work out how to set the my location manually? Some people said they did in this thread but didnt say how?!
Hope this helps someone else....
go to world clock add your city
you have the choice of setting the clock to 'your location ' or the city ; select the city
now go to weather and make sure you have the same city set up.
this now fixed the problem where 'my location' on the home page didnt show the weather.
well it fixed it for me!
How to Set Location Manually on HTC Aria
I've finally figured out how to set my location manually on my HTC Aria. To be specific, I'm talking about the weather/time widget that comes on the middle home screen of all HTC phones. Mine is rooted, so I'm not sure if it's any different than a regular one, since I couldn't find this "set my location" button that everyone is saying is in the widget configuration.
Basically, the steps I took to set my location manually is:
First go to the screen where your clock widget is.
Tap the clock, then go into the second tab, World Clock.
Add your desired city
Go out of this screen by pressing home
Delete the clock widget
Add the widget again by pressing the + key on the bottom right, and then Widget, then scroll down to Clock and tap it.
The widget that you want is the 3rd one
Once you add that widget to the screen, it will ask you to set your location. Your location will be available only if you have it in the World Clock
Set your desired location
Essentially, you are deleting the widget and re-adding it.
Hi - I fixed my HTC weather widget issue by:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747697
In it is there is a link so you can add your own City as well.

Hmm... I have this same issue. But I don't want to root my phone. My city (or better, village) is not in the list of cities of HTC Sense Locations. It is driving me crazy. Could anyone help me with this?
Or... How can I change HTC Sense Locations set my location by GPS and not with mobile towers?

Well, when I'm physically in my small hometown, the phone picks up where I am as "Actual Location", so I assume you are talking about when you are away on a trip? Maybe you can add a farther, bigger city? That's what I had to do.
What I'm thinking is that my village has shown as my location only two or three times. But almost always is HTC showing my location in wrong village (near to my village, but not my..) Do you know what I'm thinking about?
And I can't find my village (Velke Kostolany) in manual finding of HTC location.
Or do you know how to change setting my location by GPS and not by mobile towers?

Oh, I see. I can't say I've seen that situation. I don't think I have any ideas here.
Hello,
I have a very anoying and bugging problem. After I installed the 2. RC of CM 10.1, my P880 searches a GPS signal and tries to locate me randomly, even if I deactivate my GPS access for all apps. There is no regularity for it. I have even deactivated the location access for Google apps, but I think that doesn't do anything if the general GPS function is deactivated.
It's not just that I hate it that I'm located without giving the permission for it, it also suck my battery.
When my phone searches for a GPS signal, it shows me a message in the notification bar, but it is only the standard notification which shows up all the time when you want to locate yourself with GPS. It says nothing about the app wich causes that.
I also looked up all my apps and their permissions, but I can't find any app that can activate the GPS and locate my phone. Besides this I haven't installed any new apps which could cause that, the only thing I did was updating CM ...
Now I use the stable version of CM 10.1 and the problem still exists. I have the feeling that some kind of system app causes it, but I'm not sure. I also thought of some kind of statistics which create an anonymous statistic about the user movement, but my "Anonymous Statistics" in the settings are deactivated.
What could be the issue or what can I do to identify the app which causes this?
Thanks

i noticed that on some of the roms i use too, i just disable gps completely untill i want to use it. (trough quick tiles)
What do you mean by "randomly"? Does it give you a random position? If yes, check mock locations in development settings.

I mean that the GPS activates itself randomly (or the unknown app activates it randomly). It doesn't give me a random position, but the time, when it is activated, is random.

Not in my case, the GPS icon in the notification bar turns on, a notification, that my phone searches GPS, is displayed and then happens nothing, but the GPS is still activated, it doesn't deactivate untill I do so myself.
Does someone know an app, which creates a log of all activities of the phone, e.g. "Screen turns on - App XYZ started - App XYZ turns screen brightness down - ..." etc. ?
Thanks for your support
I use ok google all the time to send texts especially when driving. frequently i am getting an error where she says
"actually, i can't do that while the device is locked" after unlocking with fingerprint it isn't recognized that the device is unlocked for some reason
it seems to be a MIUI problem as there is a huge thread http://en.miui.com/thread-274084-1-1.html
anyone know a solution?
also, one suggestion from Google is to just turn on Trusted Voice so that you can use the OK Google command when the device is locked. when i turn this on the OK Google command does not work and is not recognized no matter what screen i'm on let alone with the device locked
anyone ran into similar problems with the Mix?
I have a similar issue...If I disable lock pattern and then re-enable it it will work. A bit of hit and miss really. Would love a proper solution if there is one.

Same. I can't get it working from a black screen. My other devices will wake up and "listen". On the Mix, I have to activate the screen and then say ok google for it to listen. I did the resetting the lock screen and it did help get ok google to listen on the lock screen. So thanks for that.
I also have the same problem with the latest Google app but it works with version 4.92.16 except that I'm not able to use ok Google from screen off. I hope there's a solution to this
Not sure if i just haven't used OK Google enough yet, or if it has legit fixed the problem...but after converting google to a system app i have not run into this error yet with over 20 times using OK Google. we will see if it holds up.
did you have this problem before making it system app and went away after?
I figured this out.
Browse to Google App > Settings > Voice > "OK Google Detection" and enable "Personal results"
Kind of a workaround, since this allows actions when your device is locked, but works well for me.
I don't have that option for enable Personal results.
I only have
From the Google App
From Any Screen
Trusted Voice
While Driving
All four are enabled.
personal ressults has always been enable and still no joy.
I don't even have while driving.
Only three options.
I don't think it's a MIUI thing. It happens on my Google Pixel XL with the latest Nougat. Same message.
Has anyone that's upgraded to 5.0 noticed issues with profiles running when the phone is locked? I have a profile that runs when I connect to WiFi that only works when I unlock my phone. Also I have an exit task that will only run when I unlock my phone.

I'm running low on ideas. There is a thing that Pent, tasker's creater flagged and that's the google app can cause interference in getting tasker plugin broadcasts to run in a timely fashion. The bug report. If this is the problem, it should show up in a logcat as a significant wait to execute a broadcast.
I don't know if this is applicable to your task. If it's possible to remove any updates to your google app, maybe that will improve things.

I think the issue is related. I installed a version earlier than he references, and it seems to be working fine now. Not sure what Google changed that is causing the issue. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Glad that helped. If you haven't already, could you go back to the link and star the bug report. The more people doing that, the higher probability Google will take action.

Sure thing!
Edit: The u2 update corrected the issue I had seen with Tasker 5
I have the same problem even before Tasker 5. The only way I could get my profiles to run whiles locked. is to add another task, which is run shell > input keyevent 26 > use root yes
Turns out rolling back the Google App did not fix the issue. I was finally able to get it working by running the following from Terminal emulator:
Code:
su
dumpsys deviceidle whitelist +net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Apparently turning off battery optimization doesn't stop Doze from affecting Tasker. This line will prevent Doze from messing with Tasker.
I have the same problem with tasker and a Galaxy S8! It's driving me mad. I got this problem when I bought the phone, and magically it disapeared... now it returned.
Doze got the process whitelisted and also battery optimization is off , tasker is configured to use reliable alarms, nothing new installed and sistem is not updated (using a custom rom).
When the device is on the table for a period, tasker stop working until I turn on the screen
Is there another solution? the doze is too extreme.
There is a list of things to check on the Tasker usage problems page.

They marked this bug as "Won't Fix (Obsolete)", but I'm still facing this issue today. I have a profile that enables Bluetooth when I exit my home's Cell Near towers. However, even though the profile is updated the Bluetooth won't turn on until I unlock my phone, which makes the profile useless because I keep my phone in my pocket when I drive off.
Hi, i have bought this phone 3 days ago, i have a strange problem, when i drive with any car (cars doesnt have blietooth or Android auto) phone turns on driving mode and do not disturb.
i have seen it in menu and when i turn off do not disturb, again its starts itself when i drive with any car
how can i disable this future
Same issue. Looking for a solution for a while, no success yet. Any help would be greatly appreciate
this is known Google's issue, you need to reach out to Google.
try below steps:
settings > apps > three dots > special access > disable Google
settings > google (google services) > personal safety > disable silence notification while driving
this should turn it off

Unfortunately, this doesn't work.
You turn it off here, in Google Assistant, in DND settings, delete it from DND settings and it still comes back and self-activates.
I even did the Android 12 software update and still the issue persists.
The only approach I haven't tried yet is to disable DND permissions for Google. Hopefully this will do it.

In case anyone is interested, this worked.
Remove the DND permissions for Google, the issue stopped immediately. Obviously, it also means that Google can't put the phone into DND mode so if that's important to you then you may want to try to find another solution...which there isn't.
I thought Android auto was my problem and that it was the reason it was putting my phone into Disturb mode, but it's not and I'll tell you how to fix it..View attachment 5599403
I found what the problem is I thought it was Android auto that was giving me the problem but if you have a Verizon phone you can fix that in the messaging app for any other brand use Google Maps..
Open the Google Maps app
Open your profile by pressing the avatar in the top right corner
Press settings
Scroll down and press navigation settings
Tap Google Assistant settings
Turn off driving mode by tapping the when navigating in Google Maps button
