Root your S5 (CF-Auto Root) - Galaxy S 5 General

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd’s (KRX:005935) new Galaxy S5 smartphone can now be rooted using the CF-Auto-Root tool, developed by Chainfire, a recognized member of the XDA Developers forum.
Rooting a device allows users to get complete access to the device’s operating system to make changes to the file systems. In order to root the Galaxy S5 running on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, users are required to flash the CF-Auto-Root file in the smartphone.
Users will have to download the appropriate CF-Auto-Root package for their Galaxy S5 models. Users can check the model number by going to Settings > About phone > Model number.
Here are the download links to CF-Auto-Root packages:
Points To Remember Before Rooting
- Users are recommended to back-up all data before rooting the device
- The device should have at least 80 percent charge left on the battery
- USB drivers must be installed on the computer with USB Debugging enabled on the device to transfer files between the phone and computer
- Users should ensure they are using the correct root package for their device

Tutorial
Step 1: Download CF-Auto-Root package and Odin v3.09. Then, extract the files to the computer.
Step 2: Boot the Galaxy S5 in Download mode by pressing and holding down the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together. When a warning screen is displayed, press the Volume Up button to enter Download mode.
Step 3: Now, run Odin3 v3.09.exe as an Administrator and then connect the Galaxy S5 to the PC via USB cable. If connected successfully, a message showing “Added!!” will appear in Odin’s message box, if not, try another USB port. If the issue persists, try reinstalling the USB driver.
Step 4: Click on the AP button, and select the CF-Auto-Root file (a .tar.md5 file), which was extracted in Step 1.
Step 5: In Odin, make sure that the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options are checked while “repartition” is unchecked.
Step 6: Click on the Start button in Odin to begin the flashing process.
Step 7: After the process is complete, the Galaxy S5 will restart and a PASS message with green background will appear in the left-most box at the top of Odin.
Voila! you have successfully rooted your S5!

And this will also trip KNOX I supose?

This method seems sooooo much more complex than towelroot and potentially more risky?

Yes, in the developer's original thread, and he should be getting the thanks for it.

Thread closed as Chainfire already has a thread here so there is no need for one that essentially copy/pastes the information in his thread.

ROOT and CWM recovery on galaxy 2 7 3113 easily

hey guys i was looking for rooting my galaxy tab 3113 and found simple and easy way in other forum ....I dont know if its allowed But m posting it out here...it work as charm for me ..hope u like it
notice :i just copy paste link no responsible for any damage or loss!!!
Download imnuts' espresso_recovery.tar.md5
(Use if your GT2 came with UEALCB firmware and it has been updated OTA to UEALD3 firmware, or you're running UEALD3 and not sure if it was updated OTA.)
Download xoomdev's espressowifi-recovery-5-18.tar.md5
(Use if your GT2 is currently running UEALCB firmware or came with UEALD3 firmware out of the box.)
Download nycbjr's cwm-root-gtab2.zip
Download Odin3-v1.85_3.zip
Download Samsung Drivers (Not required if you have already installed Samsung Kies)
Copy cwm-root-gtab2.zip to the ROOT of your sdcard ( /mnt/extSdCard ). This is the sdcard in the slot. The /mnt/sdcard folder is in the internal memory and won't be recognized in recovery.
Turn off your tablet and restart it in download mode by pushing and holding down the Power and Volume DOWN buttons at the same time. Push the Volume UP to get into download mode. Don't plug the tablet into the computer yet.
If you installed Samsung's Kies software, make sure it is closed and not running.
Extract Odin3 v1.85.exe and run it.
Connect the tablet to the computer.
The first box under ID:COM will be yellow and shows the current com port you are connected to. If you can't connect, try another USB port.
In Odin, click the PDA button. Select the espresso_recovery.tar.md5 or espressowifi-recovery-5-18.tar.md5 file you downloaded and click the START button. Let Odin do it's thing. When it's done, the tablet will reboot.
Disconnect the tablet from the computer. Turn the tablet off and restart it in recovery mode by pushing and holding the Power and Volume UP buttons at the same time.
Once you are in recovery, use the volume button to move around and the power button to select an option. Select install zip from sdcard. Choose the cwm-root-gtab2.zip file you already copied to the root of the sdcard.
When the rooting is finished, choose reboot system now in the recovery menu.
That's it. If everything went well, you should now be rooted.

Use Odin3 Version 1.7 to 1.83 ( meant for Galaxy S1 series (attached below)
Attached below 3 i9000 PIT files ( use 512 only for re-partition ) or 512 PIT
i9000 JVU ROM with i9000 JVU CF ROOT Kernel download and unzip
FIRST ensure your phone (i9000) has more than 80% battery charge before attempting to Flash.
Procedure:
1. Fire up Odin3 on your PC and ensure KIES is not running on your PC by killing (Kies.exe , KiesTrayAgent.exe, and KiesPDLR.exe) using Task Manager
2. Put the phone to the Download Mode by pressing (VolumeDown+Home+Power) buttons and connect the phone to your PC (your phone should be recognized)
3. Select PDA > CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
4. Select PHONE > MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5
5. Select CSC > GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5
6. Select PIT > 512 PIT (If 'Re-Partition' is not checked under 'Option', check it)
7. Press the Start button Do not press anything else or interrupt it, wait for flashing process to complete and phone will reboot
After which you repeat steps one and two (to flash the kernel for root and CWM recovery)
3. now select PDA > CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS
4. press Start Button. Do not press anything else or interrupt it, wait for flashing process to complete and phone will reboot
That's it, now you have a perfect Phone, rooted and having CWM recovery, ideal starting point for upgrading to ICS and after that to Jelly Bean custom ROM's
Any problems you may have after doing this, just look here for the solution to that particular problem.
As explained earlier (about clean flashing) if your phone reboots into recovery with some errors appearing in red after flashing the JVU ROM

it may be resolved by flashing dbdata.rfs (attached below) as PDA in Odin3 to remove the junk data files.Using Heimdall to flash
You can do the same process using heimdall instead of Odin3 too, to use heimdall one click you can download i9000 Rescue kit and flash. or use [GUIDE] Flashing with Heimdall
