I bought a gear for $99 dollars it's on tizen and I have it working with my sprint htc one m7. The other thread is mixed and I thought it would be good to start a tizen one for non Samsung phones. I'll try to help everyone I can.
If you haven't installed tizen I did it with this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53028751
Ok so if you want your gear on tizen to connect with any phone rooted or not all you need is the newest gear manger apk and gearmanger stub apk but if your not rooted some things won't work .. what will work will be almost everything but calllogs, music controls, svoice, message app only but message notification will work just to make it clear .. and you won't be able to install apps from Samsung store endless you side load them idk how to sorry. Notifications work camera calls everything else works all you do install the gear manger stuff I said like regular apks .. if you want apps from Samsung store there's a tutorial in the gear 2 thread how to do it on non Samsung phones but you need root for that . But if you want what I said just install the apks.. I have my htc m7 Sprint connected to it
"This part works for non rooted and rooted"
Here's the link to get the newest gear Manger and gear Manger stub apks.

Does upgrading to tizen and the new manager solve the issue where calls are routed to the gear when you answer on the phone (not an issue with samsung devices).
Main reason why i would upgrade or buy a samsung phone, driving me nuts

No it still does the same thing.. But you just have to push audio source and change right on the dialer no biggie.. Tizen is worth it at least for the watch side of things. Great battery life I get 2 and half days before with Android I would get 12 hours. Beside that you get all true notifications you don't have to add any app right out the box with the apks installed.

I placed gear managerstub.apk in system/app with proper permissions.
installed the gear manager 2.1.1 as a normal apk.
opened it, paired it to my gear 1.
it will ask you to install additional apks
just install them. they're around 5+ apks
and thats it.
agree to its terms blah blah blah.
viola!
set it up as you like with the gear manager on you phone.

Hi,
I have the Samsung Gear V700 with Tizen paared with my HTC One. Everything works perfectly now, but I want to install more Apps (for example a calculator app). I don't have the Samsung App Store because I have a HTC One. How can I get more Apps for my Gear or how can I install the Samsung App Store for my HTC One? Can someone help me, please?
Thanks
Download MobileMe by wondershare and it will let you move aps from store to gear. It's a 14 day free trial though.

I would try an app like google play music, try load it and see if it works. Also load app easy uninstall because mobile me app will auto install and easy uninstall will let u remove any app u side load.
Let us kno if it works for the next person.

That's not really my question.
I don't think Wondershare would work here as it is for Android only. And OP has already upgrade to Tizen. So far from what I can see on here, no one has reported any success of installing Android apps on Tizen, whether it be through Wondershare, adb, or any other method.

Ok my bad, but good info to know I get my refurbished gear watch tomorrow and hopes it comes w android. If it does I won't update to Tizen. I am not seeing anything worth upgrading to it for. On the other hand, I know how to root and side load apps to android OS and add theme.

Don't worry about it, its all good.
Chances are your new refurb'd gear will still be on android, even if it is on Tizen, there is a way to downgrade to android, check it out in the General forum.
One thing to keep in mind is the gear has only one communication method: bluetooth. That is it will always need to be connected with your phone, be it notifications, phone calls, sms, or any kind of internet. It does not have wifi or any cell communications at all.

Yeah, no problem. I previously had a gear watch but sold and since then the gear has been updated to Tizen. I will keep it on android Sw for as long as possible since I know how to root it, flash themes and side load apps.

I had to upgrade to Tizen because I connected the Gear with my HTC One and with android I didn't received notifications on my Gear. Now with Tizen everything works. Thats the reason why I had to upgrade to Tizen.
As you said MobileGo doesn'tnwork, how can I install Samsung App Store on my Htc One? I think it's the only way to install apps on the Gear with Tizen.

I hope this is the right place for this post. I have yet to do one in the right place.
I recently purchased an S5 Active from ATT. When I purchased it, I got the Gear 2 Neo for only $99.
I AM STEAMED that the sales person did not tell me that the S5 Active is not really compatible with the Gear 2.
When I go into the Gear Manager on my S5 Active, under Utilities category, there are only 4 applications available to me.
It was 3, but they just added a new one. 2 of my top reasons why I wanted the Gear are not available in the Gear Manager.
When I install the Gear Manager on my wife's S5, there are more Utility applications in HER Gear Manager than I want to count.
Do I have any options other than to wait and HOPE that Samsung pulls their heads out of their lower orifices???
Is there a way to trick the Gear Manager into not knowing that I have the Active model?
Is there another Gear Manager that I can use that would not block the apps?
What apps are you wanting? My neo works great with my active. Though i do hope for some developers to open it up

PS: According to the support desk for BackCountry Navigator, it is not the developers holding back items for the S5 Active.
It is Samsung holding back.
I rooted my active and changed the build.prop to identify my device as a regular s5. I have all the apps now and no down side that I've noticed yet.

Once rooted, use a root enabled file explorer (I like Root Explorer), open up /system/build.prop, look for the line ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G870A and change to ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
Reboot, and voila! Samsung Apps thinks your phone is an AT&T model S5.

I finally got up the nerve to do this.
I now have access to all of the same apps in the gear store that my wife does!
Thank you thank you thank you :good: :good: :good:
Glad you got it working....Just don't update your phone when AT&T pushes any out. There is a small update going around that if you install, breaks root and Towelroot won't work.
Can my s5 active version 4.2.2 works with the gear 2 neo
Title says it all, guys....can someone point me in the right direction of the correct version of GearManager? (I tried the Youtube link...and it appeared to brick my watch; or maybe the GearManager is screwed...GearManager *says* that it's paired (got the correct code on both Watch & Phone) ...but now the Watch keeps staying in the InitialPairing mode....
The only way I can remove the Pairing from GM is to Uninstall it completely from my phone....but I must be leaving some file, because it re-installs as still Paired to my watch...*grumbles*
Thanks in advance!

If you don't mind spending under $10 USD, there is an app on the Play Store that I used to pair mine with my G3. It's called Gear 2 Superfixer by Creatix Digital. Just download, follow the instructions precisely and you shoud be good to go. You DON'T need to root to use it. With that app, I am able to make and receive phone calls. There are limitations due to needing Samsung stuff, but it is pretty much all you need. It will have the correct version of Gear Manager as well. Good Luck.

I am not rooted, but this DOES work with rooted. It is encouraged as a step in the use of this app/info. Being not rooted, I did not try to download any apps AND I am using a LG G Watch at the same time. You may be able to download some, but I doubt Samsung specific apps, nor can you install the Samsung Apps apk AFAIK.

what version of gear manager did u use? I have a LG G2 that pairs fine with the Galaxy Gear 2 neo.. I use the Gear manager version 2.1.14xxxxx.. Anything from 2.2.xxxx does not work as the apk (which is only about 8mb or so) tries to download more files and it fails since this is not a samsung phone..
The drawback is that I can use the Gear as a standalone smart watch only for notifications.. I cannot get alarm, weather nor can I put S health or S voice on my phone..
*Nudge* to see if anyone has come up with a solution...
I recently received a Galaxy Gear as a gift. After updating it (Android not Tizen), I receive my whatsapp notifications (After configuring Gear Manager) but I can't read the message. I only see the person who sent it and for more details I need to use my phone. Is it solved in the custom rom null 23, tizen or whatever? Is it possible to see the full messages in the Galaxy Gear 2 based on Tizen?
I don't know what to do because I can change this one to Gear 2 until Monday.
Thanks in advance

You need to give a little more information, like what kind of phone you have and which version of Android is running on it.
Or do you use an iPhone ?
I have a Galaxy S5 with Lollipop and my Gear 1 (with Null_23) shows whatsapp messages perfectly. So the whole message.
Also for emails (Gmail and corporate email from Airwatch) and Facebook as well.
But read the forum here, as I think all your questions have been answered multiple times already.

Yes i did use when i was on KK but now on lollipop not all functions work.. I am aware of Tasker on the Gear too but now took android off and went to tizen so i might be handicapped when it comes to what i can do.. I suppose i may have to just put up with normal messaging using fleksy messenger from Gear.
I appreciate your reply anyway
Alas I know nothing about tizen..... that'd be your biggest handicap. I think I'll stay kit Kat for a while longer.....
