Anyone else tried and succeeded to send/receive MMS? I just today tried to send my first one. Errored out as unsuccessful. On the phone with AT&T now. They tried sending me a test mms, and I cannot download it. I'm currently on LTE, but when i originally tried to send it, I was on "4g" or hsdpa.
I'm not sure what might be going on, but I sent probably a dozen or so yesterday with no issues. Here's hoping it's a setting or something, and not a faulty unit

Same
Had the problem all day on a drive from Orlando to Atlanta. Tried again in Atlanta around 8PM, and it went right through.
ATT Phone Support did not have the first clue. Why am I not surprised?!
very interesting. I got transferred to the 2nd tier tech support with AT&T and she just kept trying things and asking me to reboot and try again. Weird thing was they would send me a test mms msg and I couldn't download/view the attachment they sent. But after she rebooted/reset it, it seemed to be fine, and has been ever since. I was in downtown Dallas when this problem was occurring earlier today.
Something is causing data connectivity issues. I'm not sure if it is on the provisioning site or not but after a few reboots, you should be fine.

MMS and SMS
Can't even send an SMS now. I really hate to have to call ATT Customer No Service!
Hello,
I have an AT&T HTC One running a Straight Talk (ATT LTE) SIM. When I first had the phone everything was running great. Great speeds, SMS, MMS, etc. Now, for some reason, I no longer get any MMS! I still get full speeds and regular messages, but not pictures or group messages (sending or receiving).
We set my wife's S3 Mini up the same way, and she is able to get everything (minus LTE for obvious reasons). The only difference is that I updated to 4.4.2.
I've tried every single ST APN I can find, and still am not able to send/receiving any MMS's. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks.
P.S. If this is in the wrong area, I apologize.
I am having the same issue. SMS works fine, no MMS. MMS just sits in Undelivered status.
Running rooted 4.4.2, S-OFF, Bulletproof Kernel.
unfortunately same for me. Already double checked APN settings and network types.
Tried many different APN from my carrier and still no MMS, mobile data is working good.
When I try to send/receive a MMS I can see the mobile data icon appear briefly but no data get transferred.
Already contacted my carrier. Tech support said my apn was properly set and that everything on their side was good (in my account).
I might try to downgrade my sw soon so I can see if its really 4.4.2 that is causing this. I'll report back.
Thanks for the replies! Glad it isn't just me. I've even tried using other Messenger apps, but still nothing.
Same here. HTC ONE at&t on Straight Talk service. No mms after update. This is so frustrating! I was on the phone with ST yesterday for a few hours and they are all clueless on how to fix it. The only advice I got was to downgrade back to 4.3

I've noticed this issue since T-Mobile updated mine to 4.4.2. However, I think I've figured out a workaround. I had checked APN, everything was fine. But, I use wi-fi most of the time. I couldn't receive any MMS, people would say they sent me stuff but I never got it, or I'd get a message that "can't be downloaded". So, when I was talking to a friend, I had him send me an MMS. I didn't get it. But, I turned off the Wi-Fi and suddenly the MMS appeared. We tested it over and over again. With wi-fi connected I can't receive MMS, as soon as wi-fi disconnects, the MMS are immediately downloaded. A big bug in the 4.4.2 I think.

I'm on ATT - not straight talk. Running ViperOne 5.7, which is a Sense 4.4.2 ROM. Group MMS stopped working seemingly out of nowhere. Have tried Hangouts, Stock Messages, and EvolveSMS. Played with APN settings, tried the wi-fi on/off trick, no luck. The strange thing that I have noticed is that every time I restart the device, it goes ahead and sends/receives all the MMS before going back to not working.
ST had me go into me browse (?) and delete the cache, cookies, etc. They apparently tell everyone that. Does not work. This makes no freaking sense!

I have a weird issue that when my nexus 6 is connected to wifi, it can't send or receive mms messages. In the Google messaging app, it shows mms as failing to download. The second I turn off wifi though, everything goes through, both sending and receiving. My nexus 5 on lollipop had the same issue. Has anyone else on 5.0 experienced this? I couldn't find anything on the AOSP bug list. I am unencrypted, rooted and have TWRP.

That's been my experience with every device I've ever owned on both Sprint and T-mobile. Nothing out of the ordinary there
That's unfortunate. What's weird is that my nexus 5 with kitkat had it working just fine. I guess I'll just hop the wifi calling fixes it whenever that comes out.
My Nexus 6 doesn't like to send texts while on wifi. It takes a very long time for them to send but if I flip wifi off they send immediately. I haven't tried MMS but I suspect it would be a similar experience. I just leave wifi off at home now. I get LTE anyway and have unlimited data.
I had this problem at first, but seems to work fine now. Only thing different I did was change APN protocol to IPV4/IPV6 instead of IPV6. I read somewhere switching it to IPV4 solves MMS problems, but so far the combo has worked for me. Not sure if that was the issue though, worth a shot.
Now if I could fix my general signal issue, that'd be great =/
I hope this helps. It worked for me when I had the note 4 but now I'm getting a Nexus, don't have one to test this on yet but you guys can.
In short you can try setting up an APN with the MMS port as 80 because right now its probably blank.

I'm having the same issue on Cricket with my Nexus 6. Rooted, stock 6.0. With my wifi turned ON, I can not send or receive any grouped messages. I cannot send or receive any MMS messages.
I use the stock messaging app.
There doesn't seem to be a solution. I've quadruple checked the APN. Made sure the MMS Port is set to 80, nothing has worked. I feel other solutions like Using a Different Messaging App, or remove every App are bandaids for symptoms. Not solutions for the problem.

The issu could be due to the app not switching over to data properly when needed. This could also be a radio issue among other things. Without a logcat to tell where and why it is failing everyone is just shooting in the dark.

A logcat is trouble shooting 101. Just search for how to do one and you will get a few tut. It does need root sometimes so keep that in mind.
I had major mms issues on T-Mobile. I did some searching and changed the apn. I also now use hangouts for SMS/mms, and all is well again. I could not send mms at all before with WiFi on. Make sure your apn is correct for your carrier. Mmsc was blank right out of the box on T-Mobile.

I am on T mobile and it had worked fine until 6.0.
I was on cricket and had this issue; drove me insane. I finally ported my number to Google Voice and started a new line with cricket. With GV handling all the SMS/MMS through Hangouts, I haven't had any issues, whether it be on wifi or not. Might be worth considering.
i have had nothing but bad luck with my brand new s6 on tmobile.
the main issue:
outgoing sms messages take at least 45 seconds to either get marked as send, or fail. when the fail, they are actually being sent. when they send, they send twice. 30% of the texts i send from my phone and to my phone do not make it to their destination at all.
fixes i have tried:
disabling volte, disabling wifi calling, switching back to stock messaging, factory resetting
tmobile support swore that a new sim card would fix the issue. it did not.
then support guaranteed me that a factory reset would fix the issue. against my better judgment, i reset the device. naturally, this made it worse; when i turn my phone on now i have zero bars of service for at least 5 minutes. literally no service. i am in nyc and normally have 5 bars of LTE.
nobody will recognize that this is actually a problem with tmobile, yet when i google "tmobile can't text over wifi" i get pages and pages of people with the exact same issue over years. reading through those threads there is no solution because tmobile support closes every one of them after 36 hours of inactivity, assuming the problem has been solved. what the **** kind of customer support is this?
texting is my primary form of communication and i am unable to use it. this is unacceptable behavior for any phone, let alone a brand new $700 super-hyped phone. i was on verizon for ten years and it never lost a single text. it's worth noting that there were similar issues with my last phone, an s4.
is nobody else having these issues?

When i left Verizon a few years ago for t-mobile, i had had plenty of texts not making it to their destination, so trust me, verizon is not perfect. (they should be though with the amount that they charge)
Try using IP v6 in your settings...
Then try IP v4 in your settings
Then try IP v4 / v6 in your settings and see if that helps with
Native texting App text to yourself to test.
Restart each change of APN.

Use to happen to me at least once a month on Verizon. T-Mobile hasn't lost one text for me yet. I keep asking myself why I stayed with big red for so long.
Reflash the original firmware - wipe everything start over. My GS6 works fine for me

IPv6 is what newer phones are coming preset with as opposed to IPv4 since that is what is correct going forward, per T-Mobile.

Same, guess we're fortunate lol. I haven't seen or heard any text related issue specific to the S6, I know MMS is sometimes wonky with T-Mobile while connected to WiFi
Sent from my SM-G920T using Forum Runner
My carrier refuses to help me with this issue since it's not a phone that they carry.
First some background info. I have a problem using the Nexus 6 on my carrier, "Bluegrass Cellular" which is a regional cdma/lte carrier partnered with Verizon Wireless under their "LRA" (LTE in rural America) program. This issue I can guarantee happens with every user using the device on other carriers under the same agreement. Friend who uses a n6 on another partnered carrier has the same problem. The Issue doesn't seem to be ROM dependant either. If more carrier specific info is needed I can provide it.
Before a wonky work around mentioned next, this is the issue. Problem is if connected to LTE, everything works properly, calls in and out, mms in and out, and receiving sms as normal. But you cannot send sms (pre 14r radio, after 14r radio sends but delays). If you are connected to LTE, when you send a sms it will fail with the message message, "cant send message (insert carrier name) error -1. But you could downgrade network to 3g and you can send fine. But back to LTE sms lags.
Only fix/work around is to flash any m preview radio. Which leads me to think it could possibly be radio related. With those, sms sends, but it takes 40 seconds to send per text. Does anyone have any ideas? 14r+ radio with delay is better than nothing, but it's still rather frustrating.
Outgoing sms on LTE/cdma: average 40 second delay to send message, with higher than normal send failure rate.
Outgoing sms with LTE disabled: sms sends within 5 seconds.
Still when on LTE there is no delay on receiving texts. Only sending.
I Tried sms over ims on/off and a few other pokes and prods, no different. Can provide logcat or anything else if desired. Just trying to get an idea what's going on.
Tl;Dr
APNS are set properly, mms in/out works fine, calls in/out work fine, receiving sms is fine, sending sms on cdma 1x/3g is fine.. Just sending sms on LTE has a roughly 40 second send time with a abnormal send failure rate.
Sorry for the long post I am just trying to cover all the bases for which could be applicable to finding a solution. Thanks in advance for any inputs!

Same issue
I just switched to Bluegrass Cellular today and brought my Nexus 6 aboard and am experiencing the exact same issue. I am running Android 5.1.1 with baseband: MDM9625_10446.01.02.101R and cannot send SMS outbound at all. I can receive SMS, calls, and data all fine, but no outbound texts will go through at all. I will follow the advice already in this thread and update to Android M preview to see if the updated baseband will "sorta" fix the issue so I can at least send outbound, even if it is delayed. I am willing to provide logs if anyone can look into this issue and see a possible resolution.
M preview radio will sorta fix it and make it so it will send on LTE after a delay of like 40 seconds. If you are on 1x/3g sms will work fine.

No need to flash the entire M. Just flash the radio unless you want more that don't work.
I just wish we could figure out why it delays and how to resolve it. Any radio but m preview sms will just fail after so long. M preview radio will delay but eventually send after average 45 seconds. It's just so odd to me.
Calls in out fine
Mms in out fine
Sms in fine
Sms out 1x/3g fine
Sms out LTE no m radio no send
Sms out LTE m radio 40 seconds to send but will send.
Interestingly enough if you go into network settings and set to LTE only rather than LTE cdma sms will not send. So I can't tell if it's radio or it not wanting to use the ims features I'm really lost at this point

If it is delayed it is carrier. Nothing you do to device outside APN and PRL will fix in my opinion. Carrier/tower problem.
Progress
Ok, I flashed the 24R Android M Preview 3 baseband to my phone last night and texts were still failing altogether this morning when on LTE. I had alot of text messages on my phone (over 21,000 total according to the SMS Backup and Restore app). I deleted alot of old text messages on my phone and my texts are now going through without delay. However...MMS is still not working, but I suspect that has something to do with me not having a Bluegrass APN setup on my phone (if anyone has BG's APN settings, I would be happy if you could provide me a link to them, because I do not see them on their website).

If you want to use mms on a non bluegrass phone you are limited to one specific texting app "8sms" with mms settings as shown in picture. Make sure you don't forget the last setting X-MDN:##LINE1#. Mainly you need the mmsc mms on wifi (yes bluegrass supports it) and the extra http header above.

Why would it work fine in other phones across multiple carriers in this instance? I've tested several different phones also and I've noticed this happens only in Motorola phones not made specifically for Verizon lra carriers. I've used a Verizon galaxy s4 and everything worked great. It feels like somewhere in the radio software or wherever is not letting the ims feature work.

Still Occuring on Android 6.0
So here's an update. I had been running Android 5.1.1 on my Nexus 6 for months with the 24R baseband and had zero problems with SMS being delayed. Everything worked like normal. I updated to Android 6.0 which installed the 27R baseband and the delayed SMS issue is back. I tried reverting the baseband to 24R and the delayed SMS issue was still present. Any ideas on how to fix this? I will be happy to provide logs or any other diagnostic information.
Odd....
Quite frankly, I'm still baffled by this issue. I bought the Nexus 6p and am still with Bluegrass Cellular. Once I popped in my SIM and had them change my IMEI number, I thought that the delayed SMS issue would be a thing of the past. The issue is STILL PRESENT on the Nexus 6p which is manufacturered by an entirely different company than the 6 was (Huawei). I don't suspect it is the radio any longer, as this has happened to me on multiple phones.
I've been toying with different remedies and strategies for months. I've started thinking it's software related and needs to be addressed to Google, but unfortunately I highly doubt they'd care.

Didn't know you had a thread going for this. Do you still need 8sms with those headers added? I could probably change your http header elsewhere and get it working with all message apps.
For the SMS delayed issue, I have found a fix with the help of @evilryry and have made a flashable for it. Just waiting for a little more confirmation so I can be sure to give accurate instructions.

I can comment that I've been using Google messenger for somebtime now and it's been fully functional. Just have to restore apns with apn backup and restore that I got from a rooted thumb cellular phone and then add mms line to apn type under vzwinternet and so far so good.
