globalapk
Found this website today while googling my apps to determine the search results.
I want to know how out is these guys have such a cache of paid android apps updated nearly as soon add there released to the play store.
Does the play store have a back door in there security that needs a better lock?

That's what I was wondering about. I checked that site globalapk.com and saw a lot of apps in there. A guy named Ahed Khalil is the administrator of that site, maybe you can contact him regarding your concern.
My guess is they are scrapping the Play Store website or use services like this: playstoreapi.com

I have also noticed this...his G+ directly populates off globalapk too.
I am guessing that AHED KHALIL is not a real person to be honest.
I have attempted to contact globalapk with a takedown notice and after 48hr have had no response. I contacted him over G+ and FB and still no response after another 48hrs.
Doing a domain whois I can see a registered email address. I email and it bounces back..so its a fake.
I've ended up contacting the hosting company - LeaseWeb who have told me "...We informed our Customer with a Final Warning and will takedown his website in 24 Hours..."
I recommend anyone else having issues with globalapk to contact his hosting company as in my eyes they have had plenty of chances. My (paid) app has already had 300 views on his site, and while my app costs under £1 its still stealing.

Good move, jj72uk. I did not know that the fake name Ahed Khalil is hard to be reached. Others should be aware of this since you did a remarkable solution.

The takedown didn't cost a thing. I politely explained the situation to leaseweb, how I had tried multiple ways and how the email address on the domain register bounced...still no reason from leaseweb why they put it back online..
Doing a hosting reverse on whoishostingthis
He is now using cloudflare...if he thinks this some form of protection he has got to be kidding, cloudflare are more than happy to provide the host for DMCA takedowns, I put one through them (for appcake(dot)net) and in under 24hrs they gave me the host as my emails to appcake(dot)net fell on deaf ears.
In any case, as leaseweb failed to explain I emailed globalapk with a final warning that if the links weren't removed I would be instructing my solicitor to pursue legal action (which I was willing to as both my old man and brother are in the law game). He must have finally gotten the message as though my apps still on globalapk no pirate links are presant...
Still doesn't cover the 350 views the page has had...my app costs £0.99p ... I do apps as a hobby/in my spare time (work full time), so a potential £300 is massive to me.

Hello everyone. I've faced with same problem. globalapk.com has stolen my application.
They turned off license checking in my application despite the fact that application was obfuscated by ProGuard.
I wonder what you have done for protection your applications from stealing.
Has someone already tried to decompile his stolen application to see how GlobalApk did it ?
I suppose that they have some utils for automation of stealing applications. Cracking each application manually would be too expensive.
Here is information that I found about them:
AHED ALBA****I
Address: Gaza GAZA Gaza 00972 Palestinian Territories
Tel: +63.0599684626
I don't think you can do much to this person other than contacting the hosting company ...

From: [email protected]
Due to your contribution to the success of Android Market, we would like to present you with a brand new Android device as part of our developer device seeding program. You are receiving this message because you're one of the top developers in Android Market with one or more of your applications having a 3.5 star or higher rating and more than 5,000 unique downloads.
In order to receive this device, you must click through to this site, read the terms and conditions of the offer and fill out the registration form to give us your current mailing address so that we can ship your device.
You will receive either a Verizon Droid by Motorola or a Nexus One. Developers with mailing addresses in the US will receive either a Droid or Nexus one, based on random distribution. Developers from Canada, EU, and the EEA states (Norway, Lichtenstein), Switzerland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore will receive a Nexus One. Developers with mailing addresses in countries not listed above will not receive a phone since these phones are not certified to be used in other countries.
We hope that you will enjoy your new device and continue to build more insanely popular apps for Android!

The page it links to is (link changed just in case). I like the way it's on Google Sites instead of a real Google webpage, and the registration form is just an inlay of Google Docs with some info. Not sure I can see a point in this one, since it doesn't ask for any critical information except address & phone number, but pretty funny none the less lol.
EDIT: Also, by the way, I am a developer on the market with an app that meets the criteria, so it is targeted at the right person, but I just think it seems fake lol.
EDIT 2: AndroidAndMe is reporting it, it appears to be legit.
oops, ****. I filled it in O_O

and just for the record, google has used google docs before for forms.

Thats what I was wondering too. I figure I'll wait and see if I see anything else about it, the requirements are pretty lax, so I figure quite a few people got it. I'll see what people say and if it turns out real I'm all for it lol.
Well it sounds kind of "too good to be true" and when it does it usually is.
However, check the mail headers. The sending server is one known to be used for Google mass mailings. Check for example
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdSense/thread?tid=127d121c2bc9d7a1&hl=en
It also seems like all the IP's involved checks out (ie are real Google IP's)
I got one of these mails as well and I do qualify. Sure hope it's legit.

Thats what I thought. What throws me off is it being on a Google Site instead of a real Google hosted page. I filled it out, since there is no personal info required really, and I hope its legit, but I don't hold high hope lol
The headers seem to be legit, and Google has used Google Sites before (the Wave Developer preview signup was through a Google Site). Unless someone hacked Google servers to send people emails just to steal peoples' addresses, order numbers (quite useless), and phone numbers.
Update: I see a lot of people think this offer is too good to be true and have concerns of a phishing scam. I’ve reached out to my contact at Google and will post a response if I get one. From what I can tell, the email appeared to be legit.
Update 2: Roman Nurik, Android Developer Relations for Google, states that this is real on the official Android Developers Google Group.
Update 3: I received a second confirmation from an official Google spokesperson.
“A thriving developer community is an important part of creating a better mobile experience for users around the world. We hope that offering devices to developers will make it easier for them to create and test great applications. This is inline with other efforts to support developers, which also includes our Android Developer Labs World Tour and our upcoming participation at the Game Developers Conference.”

Hmm i'm sensing some sort of breaching of the developer terms of use

But i agree the $25 is kind of bs, just for the intent to filter out spam.

GiveMeApps has no developer fees and gives you the option keep 100% of your earnings. They'll also let you withdraw your earnings whenever you want (not once a month or once every two weeks, or whatever), but they WILL delete your dev account if you upload malware. Wouldn't any reputable online store do this anyway? http://www.givemeapps.com
You're responsible if you upload harmful content, but most dev agreements will hold YOU responsible for any damages, so be careful. Why would you risk your own account?
you keep posting about them in every thread, but when are they going live?

There's a lot more to distributing your apps through Google Play than offering your users a nice way to update them. Google Play is also a great showcasing platform, its search algorithm ensures prioritizing your app to the intended targeted users, etc. Also, as other people pointed out, it's the best way to keep users away from malicious apps.

Pretty simply, after seeing the requirements and the limitations for normal html5 development on the Chromecast, and paying my $5 admission fee.... it's ridiculous.
So if anyone wants to jumpstart their development of an app for Android or Chrome and they already have a Receiver app hosted on an https site (apparently even Google Docs will do), I'll publish your app myself.
Here's a list of things I'd need to know for publishing a Receiver and Sender app. Message me there, or here, if you're interested. I try to keep my Hangouts invites visible.
Things to note:
In Chrome, both a Sender URL and a Receiver URL are required. The sender can be site specific (e.g. if your application is hosted at mysubdomain.site.com/folder/page.html, the sender URL will get shortened to mysubdomain.site.com.)
For the above reason, you can't send Web requests from locally hosted sites. Google needs direct access to them, so they forbid it.
The Receiver URL must be a single page, however. This is what gets displayed on the screen. Because of the restrictions of the Chromecast, even Google considers it safe to assume your content should be hosted in a single 1280x720 rectangle.
All Receiver URLs must go to an https site. There's a way to use Google Drive/Docs to house a Receiver via https. You'll probably have to search around the Chrome store for a reliable Google Drive html editor if you need to go this route, so I would recommend Drive only as a last resort.
OT but to add up. You think that's ridiculous. Play Store admission fee is $20. And for iOS devices only access to SDK is $100.
I am looking to make CC app of my own. Will keep you in mind.

It cost me $25 usd when I signed up last week, is there seriously another fee to pay on top of that to publish cc apps?

I think it's ridiculous that all apps, regardless of target audience, must pass through Google's censors, yes. Previously the only way to have an app available was to publicly list it on their website. No developer account, no app testing... Period. Unlike the Google Play Store, this account is mandatory to do anything.

Yep.
Not just to publish but to start developing, debugging, or testing.
Google Corporation has recently sent me a threat over email, added a strike to my Google+ account for daring to post this message online.
So I guess I'll amend my words. I'll "partner" with anyone who wants to publish or develop or test a Chromecast app. In said partnership I'll assume no ownership of your stuff. You make it, I'll do everything in my power to make sure you can run it on any Chromecast you want.
If Google hates me, I must be doing some good.
Final update:
Google recently realized their loophole here and closed it, adding a clause to their developer agreement that states that helping anyone with unfortunate circumstances can get you removed from their whitelist.
I guess my developing days are over, and remember: buy a Kindle Fire Stick instead!

Yet another reason I regret buying a CC
So I'm publishing a paid app, and discovered I need to provide an address which will be displayed publicly. This was apparently enforced around sept of 14, however I just learned about it.
I'm a college student, I don't own a business. The only address I have is my home. I've read many discussions on this, all starting out as a simple question and forming into a debate about privacy and why Google would require such an invasion of privacy for indie developers.
Can I use a PO box? What are my options for providing an address?
Anyone know what type of mail gets sent to this address? I'm assuming mostly advertisements?
I believe nobody is really interested in your home address, it's just one of those stupid things they want you to do. Like use Google+ for alpha/beta testing in Play Store

Right I've gathered its pretty pointless and just a formality required to sell in Europe. I've published my paid app a little over a week ago and haven't received any mail yet... Hope it stays that way.
I had an app suspended as it broke the google policy as it contained external links to betting sites. I was told I can upload a new apk when the links were removed.
I commented out all of the links and re-uploaded the apk. 1 months later, they suspended my account and terminated my developer account.
here is the reason
REASON FOR SUSPENSION: Violation of the gambling provision of the Content Policy.
After a regular review, we have determined that your app or your Play listing contains links to a gambling website. This violates the Content Policy
So, they are looking at comments? how is this possible? this is not code, this is not something the end users can ever see or interact with, so how on earth can they terminate an account for COMMENTS????
How are google unregulated? if my appeal fails then what next? there is no ombudsman to assist, legal action against google seems unlikely so whats the next step?
any thoughts, tips, ideas appreciated.

I got the same. I've a football statistic app and in the app are no links to any other site. I think my problem is the api where I get the data for the app. But google is very strict and didn't answer my questions. Also my accout is still closed.
I attached the last two mails from google. Nobody looks at my app and tells me were in my app is the mistake, also how the think you can click in the app an a link to go to a gambling site.
Has someone a idea what todo now?

After further review, your app will not be reinstated because it violates the Gambling provision of our Content Policy.
Our policy states:
"We don’t allow content or services that facilitate online gambling, including but not limited to, online casinos, sports betting and lotteries, or games of skill that offer prizes of cash or other value."
For example, your app support site contains feature articles that link to various gambling sites
If you publish a new version of your app, please make sure it complies with our policies. You may want to review these resources for additional guidance:

Do you use any third-party advertising? maybe your app have a gamble ads banner, that's a reason why we should use Admob for app in Google Play
I only had admob as advertiser in the app to be an the safe side.
Do some one know a contact to google? Is there a supervisor where I can chat with?
