Great idea. :good:
However, there is one problem. What will you do if someone sends you malware to be published on Google Play?
You are the one who is responsible for everything you upload there. Just my thoughts. Think about it.
Well, lets just hope that this doesn't happen, i'll review the apk a bit and look for something that screams "I'm malware"
Who knows if even anyone is interested

If there will be malware, they will delete your dev account. Just for your information.
Good luck!
Hmm i'm sensing some sort of breaching of the developer terms of use
Maybe i'm just cynical after they removed my free app for copyright infringement lol but they did say several time that repeat offenses will result in your developer account being terminated.
But i agree the $25 is kind of bs, just for the intent to filter out spam.
Well, lets end this thread, there's no one interested anyway

GiveMeApps has no developer fees and gives you the option keep 100% of your earnings. They'll also let you withdraw your earnings whenever you want (not once a month or once every two weeks, or whatever), but they WILL delete your dev account if you upload malware. Wouldn't any reputable online store do this anyway? http://www.givemeapps.com
You're responsible if you upload harmful content, but most dev agreements will hold YOU responsible for any damages, so be careful. Why would you risk your own account?
you keep posting about them in every thread, but when are they going live?
every app i click on has no description and a pic of angry birds on top.

There's a lot more to distributing your apps through Google Play than offering your users a nice way to update them. Google Play is also a great showcasing platform, its search algorithm ensures prioritizing your app to the intended targeted users, etc. Also, as other people pointed out, it's the best way to keep users away from malicious apps.

Found this website today while googling my apps to determine the search results.
I want to know how out is these guys have such a cache of paid android apps updated nearly as soon add there released to the play store.
Does the play store have a back door in there security that needs a better lock?

That's what I was wondering about. I checked that site globalapk.com and saw a lot of apps in there. A guy named Ahed Khalil is the administrator of that site, maybe you can contact him regarding your concern.
My guess is they are scrapping the Play Store website or use services like this: playstoreapi.com

I have also noticed this...his G+ directly populates off globalapk too.
I am guessing that AHED KHALIL is not a real person to be honest.
I have attempted to contact globalapk with a takedown notice and after 48hr have had no response. I contacted him over G+ and FB and still no response after another 48hrs.
Doing a domain whois I can see a registered email address. I email and it bounces back..so its a fake.
I've ended up contacting the hosting company - LeaseWeb who have told me "...We informed our Customer with a Final Warning and will takedown his website in 24 Hours..."
I recommend anyone else having issues with globalapk to contact his hosting company as in my eyes they have had plenty of chances. My (paid) app has already had 300 views on his site, and while my app costs under £1 its still stealing.

The takedown didn't cost a thing. I politely explained the situation to leaseweb, how I had tried multiple ways and how the email address on the domain register bounced...still no reason from leaseweb why they put it back online..
Doing a hosting reverse on whoishostingthis
He is now using cloudflare...if he thinks this some form of protection he has got to be kidding, cloudflare are more than happy to provide the host for DMCA takedowns, I put one through them (for appcake(dot)net) and in under 24hrs they gave me the host as my emails to appcake(dot)net fell on deaf ears.
In any case, as leaseweb failed to explain I emailed globalapk with a final warning that if the links weren't removed I would be instructing my solicitor to pursue legal action (which I was willing to as both my old man and brother are in the law game). He must have finally gotten the message as though my apps still on globalapk no pirate links are presant...
Still doesn't cover the 350 views the page has had...my app costs £0.99p ... I do apps as a hobby/in my spare time (work full time), so a potential £300 is massive to me.

Hello everyone. I've faced with same problem. globalapk.com has stolen my application.
They turned off license checking in my application despite the fact that application was obfuscated by ProGuard.
I wonder what you have done for protection your applications from stealing.
Has someone already tried to decompile his stolen application to see how GlobalApk did it ?
I suppose that they have some utils for automation of stealing applications. Cracking each application manually would be too expensive.
Here is information that I found about them:
AHED ALBA****I
Address: Gaza GAZA Gaza 00972 Palestinian Territories
Tel: +63.0599684626
I don't think you can do much to this person other than contacting the hosting company ...

I'm too lazy to read the whole thread) In my opinion, If someone posted your app on pirate website than people find it interesting. Which is good...i guess
You are making it worse. Idiots will flock to it, now you have given out all they need!
Pretty simply, after seeing the requirements and the limitations for normal html5 development on the Chromecast, and paying my $5 admission fee.... it's ridiculous.
So if anyone wants to jumpstart their development of an app for Android or Chrome and they already have a Receiver app hosted on an https site (apparently even Google Docs will do), I'll publish your app myself.
Here's a list of things I'd need to know for publishing a Receiver and Sender app. Message me there, or here, if you're interested. I try to keep my Hangouts invites visible.
Things to note:
In Chrome, both a Sender URL and a Receiver URL are required. The sender can be site specific (e.g. if your application is hosted at mysubdomain.site.com/folder/page.html, the sender URL will get shortened to mysubdomain.site.com.)
For the above reason, you can't send Web requests from locally hosted sites. Google needs direct access to them, so they forbid it.
The Receiver URL must be a single page, however. This is what gets displayed on the screen. Because of the restrictions of the Chromecast, even Google considers it safe to assume your content should be hosted in a single 1280x720 rectangle.
All Receiver URLs must go to an https site. There's a way to use Google Drive/Docs to house a Receiver via https. You'll probably have to search around the Chrome store for a reliable Google Drive html editor if you need to go this route, so I would recommend Drive only as a last resort.
OT but to add up. You think that's ridiculous. Play Store admission fee is $20. And for iOS devices only access to SDK is $100.
I am looking to make CC app of my own. Will keep you in mind.

I think it's ridiculous that all apps, regardless of target audience, must pass through Google's censors, yes. Previously the only way to have an app available was to publicly list it on their website. No developer account, no app testing... Period. Unlike the Google Play Store, this account is mandatory to do anything.

Yep.
Not just to publish but to start developing, debugging, or testing.
Google Corporation has recently sent me a threat over email, added a strike to my Google+ account for daring to post this message online.
So I guess I'll amend my words. I'll "partner" with anyone who wants to publish or develop or test a Chromecast app. In said partnership I'll assume no ownership of your stuff. You make it, I'll do everything in my power to make sure you can run it on any Chromecast you want.
If Google hates me, I must be doing some good.
Final update:
Google recently realized their loophole here and closed it, adding a clause to their developer agreement that states that helping anyone with unfortunate circumstances can get you removed from their whitelist.
I guess my developing days are over, and remember: buy a Kindle Fire Stick instead!

Hey buddies,
I want to share my new app with you.
The app is not a "Nexus-only" project, but I developed it mostly for myself to get the battery indicator (%-text) back on my phone After I implemented that, I thought a proper clipboard-managment would be a nice feature, too. Many of you know LG's solution.
The reason why I'm providing this app here in the Nexus forum is that the app's theme (colors, layouts) is a replica of the stock Android-look (vanilla) - please don't take the word "replica" too serious, I just tried my very best
However, if you're interested to give it a try, you will...
.
Please note:
The app is free-of-charge and doesn't contain ads (I don't want to waste traffic and battery by shipping ads to you - maybe I will add a premium-key in a couple of days).
If you want to support the project (as translator, tester), please send me a mail.

Hey cturbos, thanks for your compliment. I'm not completely sure what you mean. Do you mean that clip- and network-notification can be disabled by the user? This feature should be working already, just uncheck the specific notification in the app's settings (you can find the settings when you swipe from the left to open the navigation drawer).
Or do you mean that the dialog (popup) will stay open / resume at a given point (aka "the last shown entry")?
Greetings

Not sure if this is the way you want to go...it may be better to provide an xda version that doesn't have the license check...collecting emails of users, even as a kind gesture (and it is really kind of you to offer this) may not be the best means, as it's akin to site registration (or at least could be construed as similar enough).

Hello micmars,
I can understand your opinion and I totally agree with you. Collecting personal data may bring trouble in a project (let me tell you, that I am from Germany and we have one of the strictest privacy legals worldwide, so I really take care about these aspects when I'm releasing an app).
M104 doesn't take the email to verify the app's state. Please check the permissions, I' not able to receive users' personal data (such as email).
ALL required permission:
Code:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BATTERY_STATS"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_SYNC_SETTINGS"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
These permissions are needed to ship the functionality the app has today.
Collecting data manually (by hand) is much too unhandy to (re)sell it.
If someone suspects this information isn't true, he can send me the ID without using the personal email-address (I assume everybody has a fake mail).
And there are other ways to send me the ID:
- Leave me a private message here on XDA
- Send me a letter containing the ID shown in the dialog (oldschool solution)
- Call me or contact me in GooglePlus
There are plenty of ways to contact me, without telling me "who you are".
Shipping two different versions sadly has the disadvantage that the statistics (rating in GooglePlay and statistics by Google Analytics*) are collected in two different scopes and will end in a development process which consumes more time and is more difficult to read/understand (and brings no improvements in terms of quality and stability).
*Please note that Analytics can be disabled by the user.
And to say it clear, if developers aim to harm users, they would implement functionality most users don't think of.
I guess it's not wrong to be interested in tech and feel better to know who made your software.
Regards
Martin

All of this is well and good, but it seems that you're doing it for sake of expediency as opposed to doing that which is within the confines of providing your app to xda users.
Ultimately, I would rather see your app on the forums, and see you staying within the confines of that which xda allows.

Unfortunately it can't work like that on this site. Either you need to provide a license-free version (i.e. XDA version that has core functionality in tact) or you cannot promote your app via email/PM with IDs. Given that your intentions are good, the fact that you want to have Users send their product IDs through their email address that you will inherently have "on-file" constitutes data farming. As simple as it may be, you cannot "require" someone to send you an email from the personal or otherwise email address for full functionality of said app.
With that said, you can however do a few things. The first is the XDA version that has core functionality that runs when installed. When I say core, I mean the core components have to work as advertised, however you can have add-ons that expand the operations of the app for in-app purchase/donation. As long as the app can run its basic functions unimpeded, then that is fine. OR...You can also set up a Beta-Testers group on the Play Store where you can invite Users to help test features and future development. Since that is outside of XDA jurisdiction, that will rely on Google Developer Standards and their policy to implement and enforce.
Sorry and I assume from reading the past few pages that your intention is passive and peaceful, but the rules of the site are clear about this.

All of this is well and good, but it seems that you're doing it for sake of expediency as opposed to doing that which is within the confines of providing your app to xda users.
Ultimately, I would rather see your app on the forums, and see you staying within the confines of that which xda allows.

I agree and if there is any confusion about how this needs to be set up and running, OP can contact the Forum Moderators in charge of this section. They are listed at the tope of each individual N6P sections. OP, all you have to do is click on Themes and look at the top.

Well, what exactly is wrong with the app or the way I am providing this to the users?
If I am not allowed to show my app here, feel free to mark / close / delete this thread. Since the last 7 days 7 user thanked here (some of them twice), I don't see a reason why this should be that bad.
If someone requests a feature I will implement it asap, if someone finds a bug I will fix it asap and if someone need help, I will do my best to help him out finding a proper solution.
Maybe you think I'm planning to reach 10 Mio. users, but that isn't. As I said, I made this app mostly for my own and after some friends tried it, I decided to improve the features. Still studying comp. science, not working as an professional app developer and earning >100k$ p.m..

Given that your intentions are good, the fact that you want to have Users send their product IDs through their email address that you will inherently have "on-file" constitutes data farming.

Given that my intentions are bad and I try to farm data, wouldn't it be much easier and effective to send every snipped the clipboard receives to a server and ship this app (unofficially in a forum) without telling the user where I live / how to contact me?
Keep in mind: Only permission "Internet" is needed and nearly EVERY app is able do this (and there are many of other flaws in the security model).
Sorry, I still don't see a benefit of a xda-version and I still don't see how I can farm data by receiving an ID.

Lol, so you want this on principle?
It's quite simple...there are hundreds of apps on these forums that follow the trajectory of exactly that which has been provided to you...xda version, Play Store version, and none has an issue with it.
I'm not a moderator, but the individual whom responded to you is.
As I noted from my first post on this topic, I think that it would be good for your app to remain on the forums, and also good if you had a paid version on the Play Store. That stated, the xda version cannot have any machinations whatsoever to collect user email addresses or any other identifying information.
If available on xda, you must offer a version of your software that is fully functional, offered at no cost, and requires no identifying information from the user.
That's the standard. Either follow it or don't.

Regardless of whether or not you see a benefit of it, it is what it is. You either need to provide a version that has core functionality without a license or pull your links.
A Guide to Paid Work on XDA-Developers
And it isn't the ID that is used in relation to farming, it is the email from which they come. Case in point, your email is in Post #2. That can be used very easily to gain all sorts of information on you with relatively minimal effort. Requiring someone to send you an email that is outside of the checks of the Play Store venue to gain access to app function is against the XDA rules.
FSM @Perseus will handle this from here, as it is his team's section to moderate.

We know that you have nothing but good intentions at heart. This you have made clear in more than one post so far. Which is exactly why the thread is still operational. You have been very forthright in listing the Permissions needed by the app.
Having said that, as I see it, your problem with creating a XDA Edition of the app is that your analytics is fragmented. (rating in GooglePlay and statistics by Google Analytics). I can understand that. But the XDA Rules have been in place to avoid use of XDA as commercial Advertisement for a paid app in Play Store. I know that you have made it pretty clear, that you have no such intentions. But the rules have to be uniformly applied. I hope you understand that. Having said that, there are quiet a few Paid apps listed in Our Community Apps. (Link bellow). They follow a fairly similar model. Specifically the author of BetterBatteryStats app had in past made clear he has the same intentions as you.
Speaking of analytics, you might want to review the subforums of Marketing, Distribution, and Analytics forum. You might want to review following questions in the Analytics subforum
[Q] How do you app developers prefer to track of your apps?
Good alternatives to Google Analytics for Android?
You are welcome to post your question there as well, should you feel like it.
Oh and by the way since this app is not more global for all devices, have you considered listing in XDA Community Apps. Also you might want to consider having your app listed in XDA Labs for additional visibility.

Amen...I think these words should be put at the top of every place on this site where the rules are posted...this is the most succinct and clearly wrought statement of the spirit of xda as I've read.

OP Check your PM.
Hi Guys,
I saw a lot of threads on the forum by which users could publish their apps for free on Play Store. But unfortunately, the members that were doing this are not active since a lot of time.
I am new to Android Development, and developed an Evolve Calculator for Pokemon GO, and wanted to publish it to Google Play Store, but unfortunately I don't have a credit card, and can't buy a Play Store Developer account.
So I wanted to ask, does Google give away free Developer Accounts to students, etc. Or would someone be kind enough to help me in getting a Play Store Account, or share one with me?
I am currently hosting a signed APK of my app on Google Drive, but i am not sure whether I should share it here or not.
Thanks in Advance

Can't really help you with the publishing (sorry!) but I'll say... don't worry too much about the APK.
The second you put anything on the Play Store, whether free or paid, it becomes available on a couple dozen mirrors and piracy websites. Where are you from? I'm sure there are prepaid credits cards that you can use without a bank account in your country, and getting your own developer account (with the ability to update your apps whenever you want) is REALLY recommended.

I bought the developer account, and hosted my app. Will make a Post on XDA as well, when I reach 10 posts. As far as pirated copies are concerned, I found none on the internet, I don't know whether thats insulting or what

Well then congratulations on your first published app
They usually start popping out when you emerge in any category, like Top New X or very deep in the Trending rankings. It's all done by bots anyway, rarely the APK ends up on websites that bring some traffic (which can be useful if you integrate ads, and some of them might want to download the "real" updated version).

Well, I had high hopes for the app, and hopefully it will do good. As far as Ads are concerned, I will integrate them next year, I am not eligible for AdSense or Merchant Account yet

Well considering that your app is about Pokemon Go, your users like games which means that you can integrate pretty much any interstitial ad network and not just AdMob

I will see whether I will integrate them or not. Most probably not, I myself don't like ads, and I think others also hate them. As far as making money is concerned, I am not interested that much into it. I just the app to perform well
You could try free stores like: Opera, Amazon, Aptoide.
Just search for mobile marketing forums. There must be people who want!
