[Q] Installing AOSPA4+ on Moto X - Moto X Q&A

Since I can't post on developer threads.
is AOSPA4+ fully working on Moto X? Heard of problems with front camera and network, but it was a long time ago.
Sorry if my post is in the wrong place.

Yes, this thread should be in the Q&A section.
And as far as the ROM goes, read some pages and you'll know exactly what works and doesn't.
This one?

Obviously the very best way to see......flash it and find out.

I'm going to download it and see what I can do.

Installed it, everything seems ok, I'm taking my time to get used to it, feels like I'm going to love it for a long time, finally able to dismiss that status bar on all games!!!
Anyway, it feels "laggy" for me, anyone who downloaded it got the same feeling?

Can't help you there....always ran stock, with gravity box..

question about our cameras on a custom ROM/cupcake/donut

ummm...
im using drizzys Blur-Hero-V1.5.7 and it works like a dream now that i finally got a class 6 sdcard...
but when i use the camera it seems like i have to be extremely still and my subjects im photographing do too or i get blurry(no pun intended)pics...
is that all across the board whether you use a custom ROM or stock?
i had my phone maybe a week or two before i rooted and started flashing so i dont remember if it was any better when it was stock...
and is there a hack/script that is out that enables better function of the camera?
i thought i read somewhere in the development forums there was a way to upgrade to a 5mega pixel camera if a certain ROM was flashed...not sure if i read correctly or just imagined it
anyone know what can/has been done or could be done?
thanks!
You can't upgrade the megapixels in a camera, that's a set thing. You can download Snapphoto from the Market, that's a faster camera application.

you didn't imagine it, but it was a joke that the guy posted, and others laughed along with him in the thread.
so the best i can do is snapphoto?
nothing else?

[Q] Two short questions for CM 10.1

Hi Giveen,
first of all I must say I'm highly impressed with the progresses you made over the last months! I daily read your dev news on XDA and tabletroms. I'm no dev and honestly have no idea about all this stuff, but I could see how hard your way was so far. I know there were times you wanted to give up. But you didn't!! THANK YOU so much for all your efforts. You are definitly the DS7 hero!
Also I certainly want to say thanks to all the other guys that help(ed) to get our DS7 to jellybean. This old little tablet is far from being old and dead.:highfive:
But I want to ask two little questions:
1. My streak is actually running the HC 514 mod (rooted). To flash the CM10.1 beta, do I have to go back to 2.2 first? Would be no problem, wouldn't be the first time to flash back to go forward
2. I thougt I read somtime ago that there might never be a working camera on jellybean for our tablets because of missing drivers. Now I read in your thread, that you are working on camera, which sounds very promising in my ears. As I use my DS7 to skype with my family from time to time, I would kindly ask how you estimate the chances to get cams running?
Would be nice if you could take the time to answer my questions.
Thank you!
1. Flash the NVFlash pack and you will be fine.
2. No guarentees.
I would like to see the camera working as well. It's one of the things I use on any mobile device.

Ubuntu on D3

Anyone knows if someone take the initiative to develop something for our unlucky device?
Is that possible at least?
Im no real dev but I was bored last night and started messing around with it, got the android part to compile, havent flashed it or anything though
But in its current state, ubuntu phone doesnt seem like anything more then, 'hey this is cool, now back to a rom that has some actual support'
Its a dev preview with little to nothing working heh
To answer your question though, on paper, yes, it looks like it would work, just with all the same problems as current cm10.1 that are caused by kexec
That was exaustive man thanks!
Damn kexec is both a great good and a great bad for this device!
Hashcode, you're our only hope!
Looks like Hashcode is planning to port it eventually:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices#Work_in_progress
I wasn't really expecting anyone to port this for our Droid 3 considering the low amount of RAM we have when compared to newer devices.
Yeah, Hash is currently working on it (check his Twitter, there are links to the XDA thread. I'd link, but stupid 10 post limit here...), but it's as good as it's gonna get for a little bit.
As he says:
WHAT WORKS:
Display
Touch screen
Wifi
Audio

I'm running a D3 on Verizon with SafeStrap 3.05 and the 03-01 Phablet patch, and it CAN make phone calls (so CDMA and GSM both apparently work).
He isn't kidding about needing more swap space, or it being a power drain; a lot of issues with Ubuntu Touch boil down to how much of a WIP it is by the Ubuntu devs.
As soon as I have this 10 post criteria met, I'll post a bit more of an updated "how to install" on his dev thread.
I'm a noob but I finally got something flashed to my D3. I loaded the Nightly CM10.1 Solana from 03-10 and the 03-01 Gapps using TWRP Safestrap 3.05. The phone largely works, the biggest issue I have is that my Bluetooth keyboard doesn't work with it. It pairs but it doesn't send any keystrokes. I know the camera doesn't work, but my D3 pictures never turned out anyway. Operation seems smooth but a little bit on the slow side (which doesn't surprise me).
I haven't done any customizing or optimizing, so perhaps it could be made to run faster by tweaking on it.
I just wanted to try out the phone with larger font size so I don't have to hold the phone so far away. That's why I loaded Jelly Bean on it. The ICS version I installed couldn't make and receive calls, and same thing on the CM10.1 nightly from 03-09. I'm not saying I installed those right or anything. My point is, in my opinion, the March 10 Solana Nightly has left me with a phone that I'm having fun with, and I'm happy to leave it this way for awhile maybe. Perhaps it is not a good idea to load the nightly builds on your machine when you're a noob like me, but hey it looks to me like I picked a good day.

Noob checking in..I did it!!!!

Wow, this place is a giant toy box.
So I did what you guys told me..READ and READ. I bought used Inspire as my S3 is broke. Wanted to make it better, know nothing of your world here, hate cell phones but like apps on smartphones, didnt even know this underworld was out there, but it appeared you guys were doing sothing neat here so I read per your instruction.
I did get root and SU without a hitch. I left S-on. I loaded up ROMs and started playing. I just want to comment on something I did and pass it on. I dont know if what I did had been tried, but I really liked the ICS Blackout ROM. So I tried that alone..not bad, then with the new 3.0 Beastmode, really fast but whilst downloading all my apps it comes to a crawl. Reloaded different ways and same thing. reloaded blackout 3.2 alone again. Not bad.
I saw a Beastmode 2.1 and loaded that, then discovered that appears to be made for an HTC one. I had an issue with the setup screen being a diff resolution so I had to hit the menu button to get the NEXT button to take as well as CPU and GPU selections, but it booted and let me say, now the blackout ROM works awesome! can download 10 things at once and do other stuff, the GPS fix works great all bars on the signal, been on this for a few days and no hangs, no stalls, everything works silky smooth I can hardly believe it.
Just wanted to pass this on to any new person who is doing as I and trying to make a good phone great. So It appears beastmode 2.1 can run on inspire, maybe someone else did this, you guys should put a link to it next to the download for Blackout ICS. Glad I read first so I didnt ruin my phone, but mostly It was really fun to learn something new and play here. I'll contribute now that I feel I have demonstrated a minute proficiency. Mike

Glad you did what you did mate...and welcome to XDA! A place where dreams come true, friends help each other and threads opened for the mere joy of being able to root, and flash a ROM in your phone are not welcome.

Rom advice please

Greetings all,
Before you say try them all here is where I'm at. I have a new M7 with the latest over the air. I live in the sticks with a cap on my internet so that data is kinda precious. I can do this at work however I don't want to be stuck there if something gets botched.
Here's what I hoping to get out of a Rom.
A better battery life.
Volume keys skip songs.
Knock on or swipe on would be cool. I hate the button placement and less than tactile feel of the power button. My wife Moto X has only made that worse for me.
Really that's about it as I do like about evrthing else about the M7.
I've come from an Evo LTE and was on a 5.5 Rom which was great. The battery life was much better than my stock unrooted M7 that I have now.
I'm finally ready to unlock this phone and maybe go s-off however I've read that it's not necessary and also seen otherwise.
I've read myself stupid the last few weeks and only hoping for a small amount of advice
Also it seems that development for this phone is rather slow now. I was surprised coming from the Evo LTE. The Sprint version at least.
Best.
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Free mobile app
Greetings,
My advice is read, read, and read some more until you find what you are looking for.
