I have switched to Linux/cb. Could anyone advise me how to use flashtool on these 2 platforms? Tried an online flashtool and it don't seem to work on cb. Much help needed to revive my tsubasa.
Just use the Linux version of Flashtool? http://www.flashtool.net/download.php

Just had a quick search on Google and it doesn't really seam possible, maybe you might want to look into a cheap windows os, a lot of prompts we use, use windows cmd. Have you not got another computer you can use

EDIT:I somehow managed to flash an .ftf file but still can't roor the device with Win8 is there a way to install a rooted .ftf file?

No, the point of an ftf is that it is stock Sony.

.I want root my XZ with any app (without pc). Please help.
not possible
C6603 ?
I think it would be possible, if you ask me, but you would have to execute all the commands from your phone, by hand.
Very risky though. If you make a mistake you could brick your phone and have to reflash using a pc.
Not recommended!!
Also you would need some knowledge about how android works, before you try anything.
Just use a pc. That's a lot safer and way easier

Actually you need a PC anyway, actual rooting method implies downgrading the kernel, rooting, and upgrading the kernel. You need a PC to down/upgrade the kernel.
Well, you're right, in the case of newest firmware. Older firmware doesn't an need old kernel, so it would be possible.
But for .67 firmware, yes you really need a pc.
Didn't consider that since I'm on unlocked bootloader, so don't need difficult rooting processes

Well, you need a PC to unlock the bootloader and flash rooted kernels, and actually the last two firmwares need kernel downgrading on locked bootloaders, .244 and .67. Sorry i'm just beeing picky
Ask me how do it.If it will easy for me I do it.

Well he only wants root, so unlocked bootloader isn't the subject here, neither are the rooted kernels.
I thought 244 was rootable without kernel flash, but i believe you in that..

I've just recently come to Sony Z1, and keen to get into custom stuff.
My previous HTC one X was regularly flashed to install new kernels etc.
Is the adb/fastboot software generic to all androids, or do I need to install adb specific to Z1?
Thanks in advance for your insight.

Just install fastboot/flashtool drivers for Z1...
Simple way is to download flashtool and start installation from drivers folder.
ADB is generic, yes...

Can it be possible without rooting my device then please let me know friends.

You can use Flashtool to download and flash your country's firmware. No root required.
See: How to package and flash stock roms in FTF format.
I noticed you're from India. I already packaged a stock 10.5.1.A.0.283 generic Indian FTF for the C6602 that you can use here.

Brother I already use android 4.4.4...
But can u tell me the step wise as I am new to xperia earlier I was using micromax.. So please can you guide me step wise

If you go to the guide that I linked you to in my earlier post, it tells you how to do everything step by step with images.
Download the stock rom I linked, then follow part 1 and part 3 of the guide. I cannot explain it any better than the guide I already created.
