Droid 4 freezes when connecting to wifi with poor signal - Motorola Droid 4

Hi all!
I don't know when this started to happen: when I connect to a wifi network with poor signal, the phone hangs and becomes unresponsive for several minutes.
I first blamed Firefox for this, but, since this occurs even when I'm not using it, I came to the conclusion that the problem somehow depends on the strenght of the signal of the wifi network I connect to.
In fact, this doesn't happen when I'm at home.
Anybody is experiencing a similar problem?
Thanks in advance.

WiFi Signal Strength Poor

I've owned my Nexus One for over a year and I've never had any issues with connecting and using WiFi until recently. This is especially important for me, because unlike most people I don't have a data plan and exclusively use WiFi.
My phone is running stock Gingerbread 2.3.3, GRI40. After the update I didn't experience any issues with the WiFi or anything else with my phone. This past weekend however, my phone has had issues staying connected to WiFi and is having extremely poor signal strength. I went out of town and was using WiFi at a hotel with no issues and left my phone on over night. The next day I was using my phone regularly and then when I went to turn the screen on I discovered the phone was off. It appeared that it had crashed and turned off, I'm still not sure if this is related to my WiFi issue. When I went back to the same hotel I was unable to detect any of the wireless networks I had been using previously while others were able to.
When I got home I was able to connect to my wireless network, but the signal strength was extremely poor and it dropped the connection often and it continues to be so today. I've been directly next to the router and the signal strength barely increased. Before signal strength was strong throughout the entire house and my dad's Droid Incredible continues to have strong signal strength in the house. Therefore it isn't an issue with the router, but the phone itself.
So I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software issue, since I didn't experience problems initially with Gingerbread and hardware doesn't usually stop working like that. I'm contemplating doing a factory data reset to see if that resolves the issue.
I'm not sure if I should contact Google or HTC for support, especially since I believe the warranty was for one year and I'm now past that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, here are some posts on Google's forums with other people having WiFi issues: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google Mobile/thread?tid=00279551366307eb&hl=en
Ah I wondered if it was just me, I previously had no problem getting wifi signal in my bedroom.
Since Gingerbread I only have a single bar (just the sphere of the icon is green). Sometimes it'll just drop straight to 3g :-(
im having the same problem
I'm also consider low wifi signal.
Same problem here to.
Not that I'm glad to hear other people are having issues, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I just got really fed up with it today and decided to do a factory reset. Unfortunately it was a huge waste of my time and didn't improve anything at all. I can't even use WiFi unless I'm 10 feet away from the router and even then the connection is slow and drops out constantly. I have never been so disappointed in Google.
I'm considering trying out CyanogenMod.

I just got the N1 and is still happy whit it, but I hope Google will fix this problem. As I can see, there is many people out there, that has the same problem as us.
I always wanted this mobile, but didn't have the money to spend. So for a month ago, I could buy it in Denmark for 2000 dk / 400 $ so I don't know if it always have been a problem. I got it with 2.3.3
Hope this text is readable. My English is not my strong side.

Intermittent signal drop on my Atrix
I have the same problem on my Atrix, signal is weak and drops every now and then.
Read on the Motorola forum that turning the cell phone settings of - ie Airplane mode on, resolves this....sort of. So sounds like you have a choice of using wifi or getting phone calls.
So far very disappointed, and not encouraged by the other post here either.
Did you ever think that maybe its time for a new wifi router?

Q Wifi issues

Greetings,
i have my HTC one for 3 weeks now but the past few days it started acting weird. Whenever i connect to a wifi it works for around a minute then it says no network connection but it is still connected to the network and the indicator shows full signal strength. Happens basically with every Wireless i tested with different encryptions channels etc. It also doesn't use it's mobile connection when wireless is connected that works perfect. First i had Trickdroid 7.5 on it and after 2 days when i was annoyed by that issue i did a full wipe and installed Trickdroid 8.0 but it didn't help. Any idea what that could be?

Did you ever find the answer to your wifi issues?
I'm having very similar problems.. It shows I'm connected, but no data is moving. I have 0-1 bar of cell signal, so I rely on wifi for everything.

Wifi on/off problem

I've been having an issue with the WiFi connection lately. I have it configured for always on if connected on suspension.
But in the last few days I've picked my phone after leaving it like an hour and it's on LTE and the WiFi turns on. The WiFi connection was always on because I was using it with no problems on a laptop.
Is someone having this problem? I've searched but the only post I find is someone having the opposite problem.
I'm running stock 5.1 no root.

Having a major problem with wifi

The first few days my WiFi was functioning just fine. Now it seems no matter the network, if I try to connect it just doesn't happen. It will show connecting under the network for a split second, and just appear to stop trying. Anyone else having this problem? It's really bugging me that even my home WiFi will not work on this phone. I've tried forgetting the network, restarting etc. My note 3 is having no problem but it's just getting nowhere on my 5.
Mine does this sporadically but eventually connects if i toggle wifi a couple times. I cannot replicate the issue or narrow it to a specific router - happens at home and at work.

Wi-fi signal keeps dropping in the M31

Hi,
I notice that if the Wifi has been connected for a while, the signal drops and I'm not able to connect to the internet unless I switch off the wi-fi and switch it on again. Initially I thought it was just an intermittent issue, but it's happening almost daily for me now, and has begun to bother me.
Any one facing a similar issue?
