Recently got an Xperia X1 and now i want to flash it.
Been reading the threads here, but i've got some questions.
1. Anyone flashed using Windows 7? Anything specific i should have in mind?
2. Should i simply just get a computer with XP/Vista before flashing?
3. How do i format the MicroSD card? Can't do it from my computer, do i need an external reader for it?
Thank you in advance.
You can't flash windows 7, completely different operating system designed to run on a different processor. Look at the available roms, and there are several flashing guides on this forum.

If your pc does not have a built-in card reader...you will need a external reader to do it...
Hope this gives you a clue...

Yes, i meant that my PC is running Windows 7.
But i guess there are other ways to flash than to use the SD card, or are they more unsafe to use?

1\ login as administrator and fully turn off UAC. download and install Windows Mobile Centre no matter if it has already installed with system
2\ not needed
3\ card reader is needed. format via card reader as removeable disk with FAT format

Hi
Very simple. I'm Using WIn 7 Ultimate on my laptop. When I connected my X1i to it it automatically downloaded WMDC (same as used in Win Vista). and it works similar to Win Vista
No problems at all.
Syncs well with outlook. I/ve tested WM 6.5 as well as WM 6.1 both on the same.

As far as I know .net 3.5 is already installed by default on Windows 7. But you can always download the installer offcourse
I installed a new 120 GB hard drive with no problems. I already purchased a copy of Windows 7 HP not Pro or Ultimate. Should have but didn't, too late. Anyway, I did the upgrade and now can't get the shift to recognize my external DVD drive as a bootable source. What do I do now. Is it possible to take a DVD copy of Win 7 and put it on a USB drive and create an iso file? Is there another way to get my shift to boot from a DVD that I am not aware of. I only get the option of booting from the new hard drive which is blank. I really don't want to have to buy another copy of Win 7 as a download. Is there a link to still download the Win 7 rc file? Any help would be great.
Alright, got windows 7 mounted to a usb drive and installed on the Shift but now I can't seem to get any of the drivers to install. I just get a error message about not being able to open the zip file.
are you in windows 7 ?
If you are in Windows 7, and you copied the drivers from HTC over to your device, copy them again from your device to another folder on your device, then start driver install.
Copying files from a remote source often blocks the files.
Then, if you are in Windows 7, there's a particular order to install the drivers, i gather you have discovered this yourself already.
Not being able to open a zip file. Try unzipping all the drivers on another computer then and copy them to your shift, then move them to any other directory on your shift (to release the files)
Windows 7 really works like a charm on the Shift. I don't know if your version has AERO on it, I hope so as even with aero it's really fast.
Yes, I finally figured that out. Unzip them first then install them. Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees. I was then having problems with wifi, 3g and bluetooth. I accidentally tried to install the control center drivers with the compatibility mode set to xp accidentally. Everything is working great now. Sometimes I need to slow down a little.
I'm running Windows 8.1 and I can't see the phone's folder structure when I connect it my PC. I installed HTC Sync Manager (2.2.32.0) and it sees my old backups etc, but does not see the phone. I can only see the HTC Sync Manager folder as a CD drive when connected to the PC. I'd like to be able to see the actual file structure on the phone.
Any help? Thanks!

Many thanks. I've just tried that, but it doesn't recognise the device.
Hello.
I was using Windows 7 Starter on my netbook but several days ago I need to change it to Windows XP. Now system can't see my HTC One 801n so I can't transfer files between computer and my phone.
I checked the HTC Sync and some drivers but it doesn't work.
What should I do to transfer files between phone and computer via USB cable? What should I install to make this work?
Thanks in advance for any help

HTC Sync Manager works properly on XP. Try uninstalling the existing program on ur PC and re-install sync manager. Also, uninstall any other phone software like Kies if you have any.
Just got my nexus 6 yesterday, I've downloaded the latest Android USB drivers as well as the SDK and the phone is successfully recognized.
I have a problem when transfer a file larger than 4GB (eg. HD videos) from my windows laptop to my Nexus 6 via MTP
It just hang and not responding. No issues if file size is less than 4GB.
(my device rooted and non-encrypted btw)
I think it's not the file system problem as it was ext4 and I can have a single file that larger than 4GB available in the device.
For now I just fix it by zip the file into several parts, transfer to n6 and decompress it, Which is really annoying.
Tried some wireless transfer like AirDroid, SuperBeam but the speed is not satisfied, it takes about half an hour for a 4GB file
I think the problem is MTP. Is anyone else facing this issue?
Any Solution? Please Help.
Thanks

why are you transferring those files to your phone? they are files that need to be installed in your computer/laptop.

I usually have boring times when travelling to my workplace (It takes so long because of traffic jam in rush hour)
I think it would be great to watch a movie in n6 as my laptop is too heavy to bring outside. But most of HD movies are >4GB.
Do you have the same issue? I wonder is it just me facing this problem.

i believe that you are limited to anything under 4GB for a file transfer. of course you can try adb sideload or adb push.
movies i understand, but why transfer the sdk and drivers to your phone is what i dont understand. and i never installed the whole adk, just adb for dummies, which was only 36mb.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll try:fingers-crossed:
Sorry if I make a misunderstanding in my words. I didn't transfer sdk to my phone,
I just give a background that I've installed all the SDK and drivers to clarify that my device is successfully connected and recognized.
Just tested transferring the same file with my friend's Samsung Galaxy S6 and Nexus4( KitKat ParanoidAndroid ROM )
And things are working fine, I can transfer the file(~6GB single file) to both S6 and Nexus4 without any problem/hang using MTP.
So I think the problem is not MTP anymore.
Is the issue is about N6 file system or is it just my device having this issue?
Any help?
Thank you.
