[Q] Kindle Fire HD 7" Hard Bricked? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I was following a tutorial and managed to root the device but I think I installed a bootloader for 8.9 not 7!!! Silly me!:crying::crying:
After this step my kindle no longer turns on or is recognised by my pc.
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash boot kfhd8-freedom-boot-8.4.3.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery kfhd8-twrp-2.6.0.0-recovery.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
The kindle is a 7" fire HD. It has a camera on the front.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Dude, why would you flash an 8.9 bootloader on the 7"? If it doesn't even turn on,it's a hard brick. I think something can be done with some soldering tools,an sdcard reader and steady hands. To know the exact process, contact @stunts513

As SafinWest suggested this could be a hard brick and soldiering may be needed. First, get a fastboot cord and try the SRT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 if a fastboot cord gets you into fastboot the you can most likely restore the tablet with SRT.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD 7' 2013 model stuck at boot logo

So well recently i had been messing around with my kindle fire hd running 11.3 firmware and bricked it by messing with the system. I am currently stuck on the kf bootlogo every time i power on. i have purchased a factory cable from ebay, and when i plugged it into my pc it went straight into fastboot. im not really sure on what to do now. tried so many forums but nothing seems to work. please someone help me to restore to stock firmware or unbrick it. please guyss! will be so grateful!
thanksss
dave:crying::crying:
You need to flash a system image to it to fix it, unfortunately I don't know where to get hold of a 2013 one, but it should be fixable. The 2012 images wouldn't be compatible so don't bother with trying them.

You would run something like this
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash boot stock-boot.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery stock-recovery.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash system stock-system.img
but you will need the images and the fastboot command.

Thanks again man, but can you please provide the images and the commands, cant seem to find them anywhere. when you mean run the code, you mean using terminal right? sorry for all the hassle, kinda new to this whole rooting thing.
ps; will i be able to use KFFAIDE to help me? everytime i run a command, it says "device not reccognized" and similar quotes.
thanks mate for the help!
As far as I know kffa doesn't support the new HD model, and I don't know where to get images for it. If someone else with a rooted device would simply just dd a copy of their system partition and host it, it would be very useful... And yes you run it from a terminal/command prompt.

So that means I would have to wait a while for someone to do a copy? that would be in, say a few months right?

[Q] Kindle bricked - stuck on yellow triangle recovery screen

Hello,
I've been working on a KF that was previously rooted - and now will only boot to this screen:
Attached - BootScreen
I was able to previously access TWRP, but now after trying to wipe the kindle, it will no longer boot to that.
When accessing the KF via a fastboot cable, this is how the device is recognized:
Attached - Driver
Running options in KFU, I receive:
Attached - KFU
I've had the most luck with the "KINDLE FIRE HD System.img Recovery Tool"
Attached - SystemImage
It allows me to remotely reboot my kindle, and says that it successfully writes a new image on the device(downloaded a fresh blank one) but the KF will boot to the yellow triangle screen every time thereafter regardless.
Any other suggestions on what I could do?
Try this:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000

Wrong bootloader flashed

Hello
and sorry for my horrible English! Yesterday I made a big mistake and I killed the bootloader of my Kindle Fire HD built in 2012!
I was reading on a german android plattform, that in this forum here are some members, who are able to write a new bootloader!
My questions are:
1. Is that right
2. how much it will coast?
Best wishes from Germany

Yes,it is right. Depending on what you did to the device,it might not cost anything at all. My question is,which bootloader did you flash?

At the last step of this instruction my kindle was dead!
Step 1: Test your fastboot driver installation by doing the following:
(For Kindle Fire 2nd Ed. and Kindle Fire HD 7" (2012) a fastboot cable is needed for this procedure. This cable is a special USB cable with a powered pin that normal USB cables do not have. For the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" it is not required.)
Power down your device if necessary
Type the following command into a cmd/terminal window on your PC:
fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
Should return with: < waiting for device >
If you need to, connect your fastboot cable to the Kindle at this time
Reboot the device
It *SHOULD* show a Fastboot screen and your terminal window should show something like:
product: Tate-XXX-XX
(example for Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012, can also start with "Jem" or "Otter2")
If you have any problems with these initial steps try downloading Amazon's USB drivers for the Kindles and then repeat the above till you see the desired response.
Step 2: Download the files you will need to install 2nd-bootloader & TWRP recovery:
An older bootloader with an unlock exploit (this is specific to your device):
kfhd8-u-boot-prod-8.1.4.bin
md5sum a56f24c0c01aaea4bf408bc710faadaa
VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE MD5SUM ON THIS FILE. IF ITS CORRUPTED AND YOU APPLY WITH FASTBOOT, YOUR DEVICE IS A BRICK.
TWRP Recovery:
kfhd8-twrp-2.7.0.0-recovery.img
md5sum a0c7533fd853849184850580350abd18
Freedom Boot.img:
kfhd8-freedom-boot-8.4.6.img
md5sum 8374cf88e75abda8c374044a1f0daa5f
Step 3: Use fastboot to apply exploit files and reboot into recovery With the device powered off: connect your FASTBOOT USB cable(if needed) to the Kindle which should cause it to power on and enter "FASTBOOT" mode. Issue the following commands into your command/terminal window on your PC 1 at a time. (if you don't need a fastboot cable then power on the device after entering the 1st command below)
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader kfhd8-u-boot-prod-8.1.4.bin
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery kfhd8-twrp-2.7.0.0-recovery.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash boot kfhd8-freedom-boot-8.4.6.img
(if using a fastboot USB cable swap to a normal USB cable before entering the next command)

[Q] Un-bricking Kindle Fire HD with Fastboot

I'm new to this forum, so bear with me if I have created this in the wrong area.
I'm trying to un-brick a (I think 1st gen.) Kindle Fire HD with a Fastboot cable on a Mac.
All it does is stay at the KindleFire boot screen. At first I thought it was the battery so I replaced it but that didn't do the trick.
So, I got the fast boot cable and now I feel that I am lost within a sea of different methods and tool kits to try and get the device restored to factory settings.
I've gone through the process of downloading the Android SDK so I can get fastboot and adb.
When I connect the Kindle Fire to the fastboost USB to my Mac, it will go to the fastboot screen.
When I run
Code:
adb devices
it doesn't show that anything is connected.
However, if I run
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
it appears that it's connected via fastboot:
Code:
product: Tate-PVT-08
finished. total time: 0.000s
But I'm kinda lost after that. Seems like most of the guides out have a slew of different options and boot loaders and I'm not sure which one will get back to the default factory settings. Most of what I've seen is that you need to enable ADB on the device, but since I can't boot into the device, I'm not too sure what I need to do to get it to reset.
I've read through this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
but it says that it cannot recognize the device when I attempt to do this on Windows. And when I launch the device manager, it shows that it is connected as Kindle Fire as Android ADB Interface.
Kindle fire first gen and kindle fire HD are 2 different devices
From your fastboot devices reply looks like you have an HD, so do not use anything created for first gen.

Fastboot commands seem to be working fine so should just need to flash a bootloader and recovery.
see [REF]All Things About Kindle Fire HD 7"
Crap.
Well, I think that I may have bricked it forever. Didn't realize the difference between 1st and 2nd gen. devices.
Damn.
If fastboot is working, its not bricked

How to flash An OS in fastboot (Unbrick Kindle fire hd7")

So i have just got my fastboot cable the problem is that every time i type in a command e.g fastboot reboot all it says is <waiting for device> if i type fastboot devices nothing is there but when i fastboot cable is in device manager shows it under android phone.
Edit: When i type fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product i get product: Tate-PVT-08
finished. total time: 0.004s
But any other command just gives me <waiting for device>
Im confused on what fastboot cable i should buy for my tate (Kindle fire HD 7") i have seen 79cm ones 3ft ones and other ones i don't want to end up buying the wrong one can someone help me Here are the ones i looked at.
also would i be able to use the fastboot cable even if my my kidnle doesn't connect to my pc and when i boot it up it gets up to the yellow boot logo then flashes then repeats this.

http://www.amazon.com/Fastboot-Motorola-Factory-Atomic-Market/dp/B00KYVEM1I
if you are wondering why i need a fastboot cable its because my tate is hard bricked when i boot it up it stays on the yellow boot logo then flashes then goes back to the yelow boot logo and just keeps looping.
Either of the two you've found should work. Assuming your kindle isn't damaged it will enter fastboot mode as soon as power is supplied to the cable (Yellow logo first, then the fastboot spash screen).

I've been playing this game for many hours today/yesterday, my experience is:
plug in fastboot cable, reboot KFHD7, at this point once you see fastboot displayed on device you can disconnect and re-connect with standard cable.
Use KFHD_SRT_v1.3.0 (search XDA for download), use option 3 "Factory recovery".
Use option 6 to reboot normally.
Good luck, John
