My new phone stop reading the SimCard after 2 using days ("no simcard" reporting). I am sure It is not a software problem but on the other hand the SimCard socket hardware look like new. Unfortunately I don't have warranty... Any idea how to fix it? :crying:
Have you tried factory reset? We need more information about your phone too....

It worked perfect 2 days and suddenly no calling in/out no SimCard...I tried all, cleaning the socket by electric spry etc. I root it and wipe all including factory reset. No SimCard... (the sim itself is ok on other phone). This phone is new and all its hardware just new. I loss $350 since I bought it with no warranty .:crying:

Only other option I can think of is flashing the 4.3 ML2 release via Odin, see if that kicks it into gear....

In the worst case scenario the spare part is not expensive and replace procedure is not that hard.
Just replaced USB charging port on mine and cost around $10 on eBay.

First off you should flash another version of the firmware on your phone just to double-check.
Try 4.2.2 and other versions of 4.4.2. If it doesn't work then try some of the custom firmwares like CarbonROM and others.
If it still doesn't work then your sim card reader is defective and needs to be replaced.
You can buy it from eBay (search for "S4 active sim tray") and order ascending by price. It costs about $6.2 without shipping.
It is fairly easy to replace, just pop a few screws out the back and it is the first little board that you see, disconnect the flex cable, take it out and put in the new board.
Alternatively if you cannot buy from ebay from various reasons, go to your local GSM repair shop and ask them to replace just the tray, it is compatible with multiple phones and it is replaceable by Hot Air rework.
Good day!

I broke a pin in my SGN's SIM card slot. Is there a reasonably simple way to fix this?

It would really help if anyone knows.

Hey Buddy!
I was in the same boat as you about a week ago. Had the white version and broken 3 of the pins using a micro SIM adapter (thanks to the f*ck* apple for their usage of microSIMS ... no one else uses it)
I am in Toronto, Canada, and I am lucky to have a Asian Community with Specialized Technicians .
At Pacific Mall, Store #A22 - GUBU Mobile - $40.00 to fix it. It requires one day overnight stay, and you will void the manufactuer's warranty (as they will open the phone up).
The part that is damaged is the SIM300 chipset (if you refer to the technician manual for the N7000 series, it is the same as the AT&T version - I727 or whatever it is...)
Unfortunely, it is NOT simple chipset that can be replaced, if you want to that, the entire motherboard has been replaced ($200-$300, I believe).
So, yeah, that's what I did to fix mine, and no problems at all! smooth sailing.
Let me know if you wanna ship to Canada to get it fixed or find a local technician.
That's exactly what happened to me. Micro-SIM adapter got stuck with no SIM in it. Removal snapped a pin. So you only paid $40 to get it fixed. If I can't find someone local, I may have to ship to CAN. Please let me know what they replaced.

I broke my sim connector too, using the microsim I had taken out from my iPhone 4S, and an adapter. I took my SGN to the local Samsung repair centre at "Nehru Place" here in Delhi, and he repaired it free, returning the phone to me the same evening. The repair person told me he receives at least a half dozen phones with the same problem every day, and while people lie about the real reason, it's actually the connector getting caught in the space between the microsim and adapter!
@ Mister_Mxyzptlk
The guy told me he had to "break-off" (soldering off) the SIM300 Chipset (the one where you insert the SIM Card), and he needed to solder-in a new SIM300 Chipset. He even referenced the technicial manual for N7000. He even showed me the broken SIM300 Chipset.
In comparsion, is like a replacing one of those chipsets soldered on your computer's motherboard.
I been using for about 1-2 weeks now since the fix, with no issues, nothing at all, I installed custom ROM and Kernal to my liking, and no issues, everything works perfectly, bluetooth, wifi, phone, speaker, etc. etc.
Just remove with soldring iron which pin was damaged then insert from any other sim socket pin. I try it success

You replaced a broken SIM tray pin using a soldering iron all by yourself? Did you by any chance take photographs of the process?

If you are not comfortable soldering
If you are not comfortable soldering, Google "Hassle Free Cell Phone Repair" for a US company that could do the repair for you.

Hey i have the same problem...samsung service centre says it need to replace full mother board around rs 10000....... As i also live in delhi....please tell me from where in Nehru place you got it repaired.....plzzz miss call me i also wana repair cheaply...my no 7838587313
Excuse me for reviving an old thread. I am in the same dilemma. A nano sim adaptor broke a pin off my N7000 sim tray. It's the version that is soldered to the whole motherboard. I've seen an incomplete video of its replacement. It seems that the guy broke off the tray into pieces. The cleaned motherboard showed the 6 contact solder points and 4 sim housing solder points. It is not clear how he did it. I have a replacement sim tray coming but have no idea how to remove the old tray. Soldering the new tray is just as hard. It's very tight in there and will be easy to overheat the board.

so i switched my phone off to get out the SD card but it won't switch on again....not in recovery mood...not i download mood...nothing its just black screen !
i tried several things like 1)removing the battery and waiting for several hours and pluging the battery again
2)charging the mobile (the mobile got hot from the back though as if it was charging)
3)connecting it to a laptop
when i lost hope and was just about to go to Samsung one of my friends whose brother is a mobile expert and a developer told me to give the mobile to him and he can fix it for me so i gave it to him but before i do i dropped my mobile into a bag filled with acetone.....he said that it is not a problem he can clean it for me and find out why its not working he kept working on it for 2 days but no results...he just cleaned it from the aceton (he said he knew because the camera was white but now it's normal) and he tried opening it but he couldn't catch the problem ! so i am planning to go to the insurance company but i am scared that they will refuse to help me because 1)the phone was opened from the inside 2)i used it wrongfully which caused the dis-function 3)it was a rooted phone
i know i talked alot but i would really appreciate it if someone told me if i can just fix it myself or do i really have to go and is it a good possiblity that they will refuse to fix it for me and if they did what should i do ?
i know the problem is complicated but can someone please help me or tell what to expect at the warranty center
You have to pay almost half of the amount you paid to bought it to get it repaired at warranty centre

warranty is void . You cant take it to insurance company it'll be turned down instantly . Its probably a dead board . Or something shorted.
i recently purchased a phone and the phone is clean but the bugger sold me a phone which is locked and i mean hardlocked is there any way to get around it i do have the unlock code but it wont accept it.
this is a brand new phone and i cant use it at all.
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
please post in the corect section.
Just send it back to the person you bought it off,,,
Have you tried the power on and volume up button trick? Press and hold them both untill it vibrates 3 times
I think he is talking about SIM lock, which will be locked down completely after too many failed attempts.
Until now there is no known solution other than to sell the phone and buy another one. Or try to get a refund through the seller. If you bought it using PayPal you can always use their services if you buy something that isn't what was offered/expected (complaints center)
Good luck!

Unless it's just got a gesture or password unlock when it boots then flashing a different rom would help?
Hit thanks if helped.
Cheers,

To be honest it's a sim lock issue cause I was going through cellunlocker.net and they are the ones who told me there is no unlock for it being hardlocked since no tries left. I'm looking for a way to use the phone cause I purchased it in person locally and lost the person info so I need to use this phone

took it to the shop turns out the seller used a microsim adapter which flattened all the pins in the slot as they are thicker. He also snapped one on removal.
That shop quoted a ton to fix as meant de soldering the slot which is tricky and risky. Basically said he wouldn't touch it.
The second shop said they couldn't fix it but could send it away for 30 quid but would be gone for 4 days max. Showed me fixed units with paperwork that were working as proof it wasn't dodgy
Just glad it's now sorted. Contacted seller on ebay with details, he put hands up to having opened the phone up and using an adapter but didn't realise he'd snapped the pin hes also offered to pay for the repairs, hes actually a nice bloke.
Thanks for help all.

Dears,
I have had this phone for over a week now both my sims have been working in it flawlessly, Today it said while I was browsing "sim card inserted refreshing" then it reboot my phone. When it did sim 1 no longer reads the sim inserted in it so I replaced the sim1 and sim2 thinking the sim itself might have gone bad, guess what? Both sim cards work fine in sim 2 tray. Anyone has a solution for this?
See attached screenshot from the settings of the dual sim
I repeat both sim cards are functional it's the sim1 tray that seems to have a problem I hope it's a software issue I'm resetting factory now then updating the forum.
Please help

I have the same problem. The Simcard 1 just stopped working. Of course no one would reply because this is a hardware issue, since xda is more focused on development. As for me, I didn't do anything about it and lived with it. I am also sad that I didn't wait for Z5. Sony's refresh cycle is messed up.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! Well since the sim1 died the battery has been horrible and the heating extreme. Is the same happening for you? Did you contact Sony about it?

Help there just am update, I sent back my phone to Sony dealership they said sim 1 slot has been broken and it's not covered in the warranty since it's physically damaged. Well my only solution is to have a z3+dual with 1 sim lol anyway I think my first phone had the same issue but they replaced it anyway.

I am but anything careful on my devices and still, like you, mine was broken and why only on sim 1 slot? I think is their fault, clearly it is a design flaw.
Did you insert the tray correctly? If not, yes the tray might have damaged and that isn't covered by the warranty.
i have same problem , please u can tell me what do with The warranty and what tell you about the problem?!
I am from aamman same your city
Thank you
