I am rooted and I am in thr process of debloating the official ROM.
I have installed EX Dialer, can I completely remove Sony's dialer and Contacts app?
Same for SMS, I use a 3rd party app, can I remove Sony sns app?
Use titanium to freeze it first
If everything is fine then you can go ahead and delete it, if not you can defrost the app....

I used sgs tools to upgrade tw launcher, but i didn't remove my apps from the dock. all of these apps (phone, messaging, and camera) weren't in the app drawer after the uprade. I then upgraded my camera using sgs tools and now It is back in the drawer. The other 2 apps are still installed. whenever i receive calls or messages, my phone acts as it should, but I want to know how to get them back in the drawer. so i was just wanting to know if anyone has a solution. even if it is an "upgrade" like what returned the camera?
menu, settings, applications, manage applications, all, touchwizlauncher, clear data, reboot
Hello. I Completely switched to GO sms and GO launcher pro, so I was wondering if I could freeze the messaging app and the adw app. If so, which messaging app do i freeze? There's two and i dont want to mess with any settings.
/system/app/mms.apk <-- stock messaging apk if you freeze won't be able to send picture messages but sms will still send. Better alternative is just disable any notifications.
/system/app/vzwsms.apk <-- don't freeze this or can't send anything
/system/app/org.adw.launcher-1.apk <-- adw launcher

Click to collapse
I think it's the other way around that you can't receive mms but you can send. Least that was my problem when I did.
Turn off notifications
Can't you just go into the stock messaging app and turn off notifications? It sounds to me like that's what you want, but I may be wrong
Go SMS had an option to handle sol SMS/mms functions if the stock SMS app is uninstalled. Idk how good it works. Gosms also should disable stock notifications.
Honestly, you could uninstall adw. Just don't do a fact reset. You'll have no launcher. Iirc.

I installed the Rocketdial app on my phone because I can't stand the dialer on the SG3. After installing it I found that the native dialer was conflicting with Rocketdial. I looked all over my phone for ways to disable the dialer and lucky me, I completely disabled it....now I don't have the native dialer app at all! I can see it in "Application Manager" under the "All" tab but it isn't in my app drawer any more. I uninstalled Rocketdial but reinstalled it because that's the only way I can make calls but I can no longer find the native contacts app either. Because I can't access the native contacts app...I cannot edit contacts through the reinstalled Rocketdial. Please help! I really don't want to restore many phone because it took days to get it the way I like it. Thanks
RocketDial is not conflicting with stock dialer, it uses some features of stock dialer ... I guess you need the phone application back to your phone .
Is there any way that I can remove the stock SMS app (Messaging)? I use Hangouts for my SMS needs and I'td be nice to have one less app on this bloat loaded phone, even disabling it would be nice!
You need root and install link2sd then go app and freeze sms app
I also use Hangouts. Have unlimited data with a minimal amount of minutes and no texting. I'm rooted with MOFO and custom ROM. Installed Titanium Backup and used it to disable native texting. Use Hangouts for my texting via my Google Voice number and also use it to call when I do have good data access.
I've turned off notifications for the app as I changed to Google Messenger which I like better and is faster.
But I have not been able to uninstall the OEM Messaging and the alerts are still received and never go away.
The only fix I have found is making it the default, removing the alert and then making the Google the default again.
Any one have a fix for this endless alert?
If you are rooted you can "freeze" Messaging with an app like Titanium Backup. It may also be possible to disable the app from the System Apps menu.
Darn the Luck ! ! ! No Titanium and it won't disable in sys apps.
