Broken Xperia uses?

Hey there.
My Xperias screen is broken, the bottom half is dead but the touch is still working. The phone is fully functional except for this and that the slider is bent in the lower left corner a few millimetres. I am using my old K810i and I'm buying a new phone soon, but just leaving a functional Xperia to rot in a drawer seems a bit... uneconomical?
NOTE: I will NOT be repairing the screen. No, there is no insurance that covers a broken screen. No, I won't buy a replacement screen for 90 bucks. Don't suggest it, please.
What I am looking for are uses for this device now that I've decided not to repair it and rather get a new phone, so don't give me comments like "Why not fix it?", if you'd be kind. I want to utilize the phone as it is, maybe the keyboard can be connected to my PS3, maybe I can sell the phone, maybe I can use it as something else. All suggestions are welcome!

Anything else than selling it will require huge effort and good tech skills.

if you're not gonna fix it, sell it; it's basically useless. Give someone else the chance to resurrect it.

I agree with this. Possible use could be as a wireless router for your notebook, either for WLAN or for HSPA...

Also there's probably software that lets you use it as a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard.

Hm.. since there are devices with a 480x480 resolution on WM6.1, I am thinking it might be possible to cook a ROM that uses 480x480 instead of 480x800 and therefore the part of the screen that's still working would be quite usable.
I don't know if this would really work or if anyone has ever even tried it, it's just an idea.

I know what you can do, start your own phone store and use that X1 as a display model.

Replace a HD7 screen with a HD7S screen

So is it possible to replace a HD7 screen with a HD7S screen?

Both are the same hardware...

A good question, as far as I know the hardware is the same.:good:
so... it can be don, but first I must take apart my 2 hd7 to compare... when I got enough time to do it...

I disassemble the HD7S, and they look exactly the same, even the LCD connector is the same.

I guess Ill buy a Hd7s screen and try it out then. As far the screen is not to expensive its worth trying.

[Q] Replaced screen 2 times now!

Dear all,
My glass broke from my S5830 and was still working. So i ordered a new digitizer. After replacing the digitizer is responding VERY bad and half so i replaced with old broken one and it worked.After ordering new one same problem.
Could i supplied a screen for the s5830i instead? Since they fit exactly?

Mmm, I wouldn't, rather look for a better one for the S5830?
Anyway, try the new one and mod the build.prop to make the screen more sensitive?

How did you replace the digitizer ? By yourself ? Sorry for a stupid question but I hope it is not wrong asking...

Does the whole screen stops working or some part of it? (in the new digitizer) and What is the response of new digitizer, i mean the display, is it same like the old one?

Well i need to press it alot of times Upperscreen and holding the bar when respo0nding i can drag it down to middle. After that it drops down itself. Down part of screen not responding at all on both new screens.
Old screen worked 100% accurate. Now i buyed a other screen somewhere else and it works. still i want to know what is wrong

hey guys, I have a really quick Q for u. Is it possible to only replace the Digitizer/Glas on the One? They sell em for really cheap and because my screen still works fine after droping it (hell even the Digitizer still works!) I hoped that i can just replace it. The search doesn't show any result when I type in things like Display Digitizer etc. Did anyone attempted this? I saw some people replacing just the Glass on a Galaxy S4 on YouTube but there are only a few really poor videos on YouTube about the HTC One.

No, don't bother trying. The digitiser/glass is fused/bonded to the LCD and is very, very difficult to separate, so you'd just be wasting your time. Buy the whole LCD/digitiser assembly, and you'll be good

They're probably torn apart for good.. Try if you wanna, but it isn't recommended. There was an article on the xda portal about this a few weeks ago. You should read that to know about all the risks involved..

Dude just send it in for repair ... if you try and repair it it's going to cost you a fortune every time you attempt to repair a part you'll destroy 3 others.
T-mobile has a Refurb you can buy for $312 cash

it's not a matter of Faith it's just facts .. have you ever separated a digitizer from glass or an lcd ? it's an 11 on a scale of 10 in difficulty
if you tried it 100 times you would get maybe one working one.
and you have one chance to get it right .. good luck

I went to a cellphone repair center yesterday to get an iPhone's digitizer replaced, and I asked one of the guys who worked there if they fixed HTC One's too, and he said "no those phones are on our blacklist, you try to fix one thing you'll end up breaking something else." I think it's best to no try to open up this device. I know how you feel though, you really want to try to fix it on your own, but I can tell you from experience, some devices aren't meant to come apart, let alone put back together properly.

[Q] Unable to swipe down the statusbar

I've been having problems with the sensitivity of the top 2mm of my phone's screen. I don't remember when it started but I think it was around a couple of months ago.
Before, it was only difficult for me to swipe the notification bar down, but now, I can no longer swipe it down unless I rotate the screen.
I don't remember how or exactly when it started, but I remember that I was using ARHD 70.0, then I updated to 71.1 in attempt to fix it, but it only worked for a while but it came back again. I also tried other roms such as MaximusHD and Eragon but still the same. I also tried rebooting to safe mode but still the same. I also used both stock and elemental sense kernels.
I updated my firmware back then to 6.06 and now to 6.07 but still nothing. I haven't tried downgrading yet though.
I tried using the line draw test and the result is found below.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I already searched xda and google but i found no solution to my problem.

It could be a hardware related issue. If it's still under warranty revert it to stock and re-lock the bootloader and just send it back.

Has your device been dropped or been water damaged? The digitizer connection from the mb could have became a bit loose.
*Edit*
I have read on a forum for the HTC One X which seems to have a similar issue to yours where a part of the screen is unresponsive. Someone suggested to clean the connector.

I dropped it a few times while in a case and only around a feet at most. It never been water damaged, hopefully never will.
I see, I'll look for it there, though I'm not sure how to clean the connector. Thanks!

I did some more research about it and people are saying it is a digitizer issue. So replacing the digitizer should fix it, but you will need to buy the lcd and digitizer together as its nearly impossible to replace them separate from eachother.

You have a dead spot. Sorry kid. If updating the OS still gives you the funk, you need a new screen.

You could do it yourself and save a bit of money if you know what your doing. There are tutorials on YouTube.

Alright, the weird thing is, it started working again :| i didn't do aything :|
