Every ten or fifteen minutes when using the phone the router will reset. So I don’t just lose the wi-fi on the phone I lose my desktop internet connection. I have the latest firmware (1.35NA) for hardware version A4. ???
Someone suggested the power hog mode in the phones wi-fi settings but that no help.
Same issue with me? Any help is appreciated.

I guess were just SOL. I’ve looked around on the net and the HTC One X and S had Wi-Fi issues also. This seems like kinda a big deal. Are they going to fix it or whenever you go someplace with a certain brand or router your just screwed?
I’ve had my router for some time now and none of mine or any of my friend’s laptops or phones or printers caused a problem. I was really hoping this One was the one but I guess it is getting returned.
Hackers?! Who needs em, I just walk around with my HTC phone and reboot routers.
Spent some hours with Sprint and HTC but they say they have never heard of the issue and just want to replace the phone.
Been looking around some more and it looks like the other ‘One’ models had Wi-Fi issues as well. I’ve tried some suggestions. Disabling WISH and QOS on the router seems to have made the dropout less frequent but there are still fits of them. Others also said to use WPA and not WPA2 and try a different Cipher but you should not have to do this just to get a new phone working. No other device has had an issue with my router or its settings. I guess I’m the only one though. Maybe no one uses router at home with encryption and passwords just free or open hotspots.
I also have this problem and the only fix i found for it was to set my router to use wireless G only, something with wireless N was causing the reboots on my router..btw i i have a dlink extreme N router...hope this helps u

not to take this slightly off topic, but i have never had any good luck with dlink routers and wireless devices in general. i thought comcast was to blame for all of my internet issues, but they were all solved when i switched router brands.
not saying the phone and router shouldn't play nice, i just think the dlink brand of routers in general has these issues. cisco/linksys and even asus have worked a lot better for me. i own the dir-655 and that thing has never been able to handle wireless traffic without dropping connections constantly (to laptops, apple and lenovo, to tablets, nexus and ipad, to phones, iphones and a variety of android devices)
Yeah..im actually planning on picking up a linksys router this weekend

If the router resets, it's a router issue, it shouldn't do that, whatever bad signals are sent to it, especially if you have remote management turned off
Lol I thought my DI-655 was defected and now I see this thread
Changed to Linksys E2500 and problem solved.

You’re are not wrong but I don’t see lots of people saying that the DIR-655’s 802.11n don’t work. I do see lots of people with HTC One, One X, and so on with Wi-Fi issues. The DIR-655 has been out for a while with no more firmware updates. No other devices have this issue and I had the DNA for a time and used it on the same router without issue. Just got a message from DLink and they just act like HTC. Have you tried other 802.11n devices it must be the phone that is at fault.

Well I've never had this happen with any of the many Wi-Fi devices I've had. I even had the DNA for a time a few months ago and it did not do this. I know the feeling when you come to the conclusion that one brand sucks but I’ve found that they all can have issues. I’ve been reading up on new routers and seems like Asus has issues, even read a review where they had dropped connections. Maybe they were in a bad spot. Maybe one too many of my neighbors is clogging up the Wi-Fi now. ??? I just know this is the only device that has done this and as usual all the manufactures involved just point fingers.
D-Link sadly makes unremarkable garbage. I have found that most residential router models are very bad....
I now use commercial grade Mikrotik routers that cost less than the Residential routers. The Mikrotik router NEVER goes down.... I have an up time that is 1.6 years and that was its installation date. I probably should update the firmware, but why reboot it.... It's working fine.
Models like this one RB/751U-2HnD are great.
***Beware nontechnical users will have no clue how to use it.
I have been having the same problem. WiFi drops every ten minutes or so. The router doesn't reset though, I just lose signal and have to turn WiFi off on the phone and turn it back on again I know the WiFi still works because my husband had it working on his iPhone at the same time mine drops. I've only had the phone since today and I need to have WiFi work because I don't get a good signal at my work. There gas to be done sort if software fix for this problembecause I see a lot of posts about this same issue.

Well I've-
Set the phone for Best Wi-Fi performance, uses more power.
Disabled WISH & QOS.
Restarted the phone and router a few times.
Today I'm trying:
Set the phone to 2.4GHz only.
Set a DHCP reservation for the TCP/IP address.
The next step would be to use 802.11g only.
Yeah...tried just about everything also, and sadly Wireless G only was the only thing that worked....

That's lame but I don't get why my HTC DNA did not seem to mind the DIR-655. Did you try to re-flash the router? Going to 802.11g only takes me down to 20MBPS from 27 with 802.11n.
Hello, I am having the same problem but with a DLink DGL-4500 router, its really annoying
Yep, tried reflashing firmware and restoring to factory defaults, still sno go...yeah the drop in speed really suck, really noticeable when streaming vids

I could not tell the difference. With N only setup and everything at auto it would just show 55-65 Mbps in the router status. I forced the transmission rate and channel width to the highest settings and while the Mbps on the router status page would then show 130-150Mbps it was still just as slow. The Wi-Fi analyzer on the phone still showed a 65 Mbps connection. ???
I have been having issues with my wifi disconnecting and not wanting to reconnect for the last week and a half or so....
It only happens when i am upstairs in bed and its not every night i didn't have issues Saturday or Sunday evening.... I live in a 1980's era built townhouse the router and modem are at&t u verses but technical its dsl there isn't any fiber optic service available in the area. Girlfriend has a note 3 but no issues except a occasionally loss of wifi but reconnects immediately. Mine seems to want to connect to the other wifi's in the surrounding area and won't reconnect unless i reboot my phone... I have wifi at work with no issues....

Do you happen to have a Titanium Backup running on weekday nights? If so, Google "Titanium Backup Wi-Fi disconnect".
That actually sounds like a router problem.
That thing you have is a frankenroutermodem? It should be possible to disable the router part of it (and wifi), and plug in a proper router/wap. I recommend tplink archerC7v2 or WDR3600/4300. They're CHEAP, but good hardware (qualcomm), and supported in openwrt.

That only means that what is trash is working as much LIKE trash as can be expected.
Try good equipment, not that junk. I can just about GUARANTEE that a proper router WILL WORK.

Mine disconnects overnight, and never reconnects to wifi or cell data. I don't think that's what you're talking about though?
I have the exact same problem. So I tried connecting an old belkin router through my uverse router and it didn't seem to help the situation. So I don't know if its my phone or my WiFi routers.
My 2.4ghz WiFi at home won't stay connected on my nexus 6 and dissapears from my available networks list. Even if I select 2.4ghz only it dissapears. Don't think it did it with 5.0 that I remember. I use 5ghz in the house but my 2.4ghz reaches outside farther when I'm by the pool or doing yard work streaming music.
All other devices connect to it fine with no issue. Tried messing with channels but nothing. Any ideas?

hmmm. not sure why it's just that channel. Only time i've ever seen 2.4 boot is on Ubuntu 14/15 HP, because hp wifi driver is generic . wondering if it has something to do with poll request. If it's doing it outside by the pool, you might be picking up neighbors strong signal. not a real answer, but a start.
Suggest, dl a wifi signal monitor, and watch the log to see what you were doing when it dropped.

I live in the middle of nowhere, neighbors would need one heck of a router to reach me haha. Used WiFi analyzer and walked my whole property and only saw a bit of one network on channel 8 so I put mine on channel one. It just disappears randomly. I can go to sleep and wake up on lte. Or be looking at the WiFi networks list and it just drop in and out. 5ghz is always there though. My WiFi settings are set to auto not just a specific band. Its super annoying.

well we know it's radio, since it's happening on stock and cm12. and with both radio's. I'd hate to say hardware, but that's what it is pointing too. Sorry. If nothing else is being booted, i wouldn't say router hardware.

I'm thinking its a conflict between my phone and router. It worked fine on 5.0 and the old radios from those builds. And 2.4ghz band at my work is perfectly fine. And we have over 50 access points that I hop around on all day to cover the whole building. So its a combination of my phone hating my router or my router hating my phone. Obviously both devices are fine. Maybe my router is racist? Could be a possibility.
Was just asking to see if anyone saw this issue and found a work around. Be it specific channel, speed setting, hz setting, wireless protocol adjustment etc. Its a netgear wndr4500v2. All the HP access points at work are perfectly fine. May be time to try a different router.
Ahh OK. So now good prob to figure out
I know this has been discussed with other devices, but I have yet to see a solution, so I'll post here and am willing to try anything to resolve this issue.
I have tried all I could think of, clearing cache out, checking for conflicting devices, tried uninstalling some apps I think my be the culprit, rebooting the device, the router, and the Modem etc..... The problem still occurs, I'm not sure if this started since the 5.1 update or prior, all I can say I only noticed it a few days ago, when I decided to do a Speedtest, I know I have done Speedtest before, and never noticed this issue.
Once I'm connected to WiFi and my Bluetooth is turned on, my WiFi speeds are slow and bounce from 2Mb's to 5 Mb's, and when I say bounces the speeds go up and down during the process. As soon as I turn Bluetooth off the speeds are back above the 30 Mb's.
I have tried many of the recommendations around, but have yet to find a solution, Is it a LP issue ?? any other device I have connected I have no issues, I even have a back up Huawei, on LP, and have no issues when BT is turned on. Heck, even my wife's 1st Gen Moto X has no issues. Since I only realized this recently, today when I get to work I will try it when I get to work and see if it does the same on WiFi there when BT is turned on.
Any suggestions would be great.

Yes, same result.
Well I can tell you it's either a rogue app, causing it, or LP 5.1, It did the same at work today, so I know it's not the router issue
Change your router channel to something manual, lock it to one frequency. You can check a less congested channel with "WiFi analyzer" by "farproc"
It's the best one I know at least.
Both WiFi and Bluetooth do channel hopping, I've had this happen a lot at work where there's a ton of wireless devices nearby.
My bluetooth mouse will start to lag on my laptop and things like that, I guess both devices are attempting to hop channels and end up doing it at the same time, to the same band over and over causing this issue.
Wifi will grind to a halt on any devices connected to your router because wifi isn't really designed to switch channels often.
If you can upgrade to 5Ghz that will definitely solve your problem, but you have to go with a high end router that has some proper TX output at 5G.

I can switch to5GHZ, but from what I recall the range drops if I do so, also can BT be assigned a channel also, I guess this would help resolve the issue if this is the cause ?? If BT still hops, it will simply be a matter of time when it hops on the channel my router is set to ??
hello good evening colleagues
I have an issue that had already happened to me on my samsung S9 and now it happens to me on my s20 FE 5g
the problem occurs in samsung Dex HDMI
when using any app or game
the internet is slow and does not load or loads very slowly and disconnects me.
It had happened to me before, but I don't remember how I solved it.
this happens when i connect my HUB + HDMI adapter and start samsung Dex . Network speed drops drastically.
Hello partners
after an insatiable fight.
after buying another HUB + usb + HDMI. and HDMI 2.0 cable
the problem persisted.
until I remember that the problem lies in the internet modem.
hahaha
The problem is exactly in the channel where the modem is configured, you have to find which channel is less saturated
in automatic mode it showed me very slow.
I hope this information is useful.
since in automatic channel the speed of the s20 FE can drop very drastically (of course it also depends on the modem if it is modern or old)
Can this thread be closed?
the problem comes from android 13 update
apologies...

yes, you are right
my problem is with wifi usually in 2.4 ghz networks.

You can try getting closer to router , also on phone go to dev settings and limit background apps to none or 1 at bottom. That usually gives a little speed boost. You can prob find a 5g router at goodwill , and if it doesnt work out of box you can go look up dd wrt for it !

hello colleague
Thanks for your reply.
I already tried everything on my Router.
With Android 12 everything was running fine.
It is a 2.4ghz router.
Already modify any type of parameter. (scope, channels, etc)
but everything stays the same.
I clarify, the failure is in online games, there is a delay.
on facebook it may take a while to load between other apps.
in another house there is a dual band router.
In 5g there seems to be no delay, everything flows fine.
but i connect to 2.4 and it starts the delays.
something that did not happen to me in android 12.

Yes 5g is faster up close . The 2g is slower also bc everything ran off 2g . Think about 2g house phones everyone had. Theres more traffic on those . 5g has less traffic which helps increase your bandwidth.
Hi,
just wanted to mention, that i have the same issue
* on a Galaxy S22 with android 13 (regardless of Dex, but whenever screen is shared via a usb-c to hdmi adapter) and
* on a Huawei P20 Pro with android 12 (sometimes, not always)
replugging the usb-c adapter always immediately solves the issue but only for a brief time.
I hit this problem while traveling and using the hotel tv to watch movies that I stream via the phone over the hotel wifi (80mbits, but when the bug is on: <1 mbit) (changing the router is obviously not feasible in my case )
Could that be a general android / kernel bug?
Does anyone have a hypothesis for a technical explanation?
The bug is not occuring on 4G cellular network. Didn't test for 5ghz Wifi
