My Optimus 2x is in a boot loop, help!

Hi,
I have a problem with my Optimus 2x, it is rebooting without end, like in a loop !
1-the phone turns ON, the LG logo appears

2-then the scrolling image appears
3-then after 2 seconds, the phone automatically shut itself OFF
4- and then the phone automatically turns ON again. We are looping back to 1- without end.
What can I do to fix this problem?
I have important Memo notes and sms I don't want to loose !!
For information, I have this phone since April. On May, I have rooted the phone using Super One Click. Since then the phone was working perfectly. I never flashed a ROM on the device. The problem happened just after a normal usage of the phone.
I really need your help..

Not sure why this would happen on stock rom with normal usage I've only encountered this problem after flashing other roms, I used nvflash but if you go down that route you will lose everything. Tried battery out and sim for a few minutes?

If u have backed up using clock work mod .. then u can boot into recovery and restore

It hapend to me,i downloaded and flashed stock rom with smartflash and now works better than before. Flashed open euro with 0725 bb and it works like charm

It was a stock ROM with normal usage. To be precise the problem arise, just after I selected the autorun option of the application Total Recall.
I have tried battery, sim, sd-card out, no success, the phone did not boot normally (not even once). As I can see nvflash is not an option as it is erasing everything.

I have not installed ClockworkMode on my device (so I still have the stock recovery).

I took the battery out for a while, tried holding button combination while booting. No success, the phone did not boot normally (not even once).

Sorry, I didn't see your reply.
Kdz is only LG's firmware format.
All LG's phones can be flashed with kdz file by kdz tool (aka kdz updater).
Refer to this.
And Kdz tool at here.
and you have to need some kdz file for your p990.
(I have not but someone has it.)
In my case(su660) the type is "CDMA" and phonemode is "CS_EMERGENCY".
Request someone's advices more for p990.

Boot into recovery (holding Volume down and Power button) and factory reset, had the same problem yesterday when flashing CM7. Running fine now

I have looked at Smartflash, it is for flashing the Baseband (not the ROM itself), that means the software that has the GSM driver WiFi driver.
I don't see how Smartflash could help retrieving my phone with the important memos and sms.
Given that my phone is not booting, what can I do to retrieve the important memos and sms?

No, Smartflash will install stock ROMs in a .bin format as well.

As I have the stock recovery (the standard one that you get when buying the device), what will happen when I boot to recovery ? (does it do full erase of data?)
Four months ago I have rooted the phone using Super One Click. But I did not changed anything else: the recovery and the ROM are still the stock ones.

Yeah to the best of my knowledge, if you try and boot to the stock recovery, you will just get an automatic factory reset.

Oops, this means that booting to recovery will erase my important memos and sms :'(
Are there any other action I could do to avoid loosing them?

Tutorial: how to unbrick your phone

Bricked my phone after trying out CM7 and then flashing Stock ROM via KDZ_FW_UPD without wiping all data.
Found a way how to fix my problem. This should work for almost all bricked phones.
Remember, this will wipe ALL DATA from your phone. I'm not responsible if something happens with your P970. Do at your own risk.
You will need:
Drivers for P970;
KDZ_FW_UPD_EN
UpTestEX_mod2_marwin
WindowsEnablerv1.1
Download
Start from here if it's first time (no drivers installed, etc):
1) Install all drivers (from Drivers folder);
2) Disable LGE Virtual Modem (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager);

3) Run msxml.msi (in KDZ_FW_UPD folder);
4) Delete mfc42.dll (from KDZ_FW_UPD folder);
5) Run WindowsEnabler.exe and set it to ON;
6) Run UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe;
7) Set your phone to S/W Upgrade mode (take out battery, while pressing Volume Up, plug USB cable).
1) Select KDZ file (download from here);
2) Click "CSE web upgrade test", then "Upgrade Start".
Chose your language and wait till phone reboots. It will take some time and could look like nothing is going on. If you see something similar to this (on your phone) for a moment, everything went OK.

(for everyone else who is trying to follow this TUT...when i was updating it was stuck at 4% and showed a lot of errors in the log below...but i guess that didnt matter and now it works...that screen at the end is really must...and i had to force close the update tool after my phone was working)

I think this is solution for ALL BRICKED P970s that can enter into S/W Upgrade mode!!!
Very important is that this method do HARD RESET after flashing firmware so it could UNBRICK ALL of our phones.
Can anyone with bricked phone (not CM7 brick) can test it?

I a little bit edited tutorial and, yeah, it could help for all bricked phones. We just need someone who could test it out.

I linked it at RC's G+ and RootzWiki, in response to those bricking their OB's in regards with CM7. Hope they could give us feedbacks.

cool, finally a method that can do "hard reset" without a running system or a recovery installed !!
LG would have implement the hard reset in his Recovery in the B2CAppSetup ! it would avoid lots of send back to LG customer service !!

No, LG would have implement the recovery key combination... It would be remedy for almost all P970 bricks...
Does anybody knows another phone with Android without hardware key combination for recovery?
Is it even possible that hardware key combination (changing bootloader) will be possible to add-on by official LG firmware update? Maybe they should do this with official 2.3 upgrade, but it is probably only dream...

No, it can't. You need to boot to OS and have enabled Debugging to get ADB working.
I was trying it many times when I bricked my phone. Look HERE.

Nope. Tried that when I bricked my phone couple of weeks ago.
EDIT:
Tested it 5 mins. ago with CS_EMERGENCY in KDZU, and no. No hard resetting.

hmm I should test this tool again. I previously gave up that because it has never worked, until I know those kdz files must keep their name

any ideas?

A guy does the upgrade,and the phone is stuck at 4% too. But unlike the situation u've met, there's not even a error in the log. Then , he has to switch off the USB(means disconnect the phone and the PC. sorry, my English is... - -#). I wanna know how much time does the upgrading process takes. Thanks.
Meanwhile ,there's another guy. He did the same thing .And the phone reboots finally. But what confuses me is that he didn't get the picture on the screen. Could you explain , thanks in my heart!

Download THIS package. It has all the files in one folder. Unpack it to C:\ You should get C:\P970_unbrick\*files here*
Install msxml.msi, then run Windows Enabler.exe and click on its icon in the taskbar. Icon will change and will show "ON". Then run UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe and do the rest of the job.

When i followed this tut my update process was stuck at 4% and actually it "didn't" flash the stock rom...(although it was already flash before my the KDZU tool) this tool simply after giving alot of errors in the log file did a hard reset (that last screen---which actually does the magic by formatting the data partition). After that screen my phone restarted and BINGO i was at the setup wizard! then i closed the tool bcz it was stuck but my phone was working

Upon restart immediately after installing, the P880 stucks on the LG logo.
Is there a way to delete the faulty APK from "outside"?
Does deleting via the adb shell under Windows work with the P880?
And if it's possible, how to connect the phone to work with adb shell and how to mount the memory?
I like to avoid the factory reset, because of the huge number of settings and photos on the internal memory card.

You can try to flash with the same version but, NOT WEB UPGRADE!!!
It should "refresh" the FW and will reinstall missing apps, but once that it will keep your files, I don't know if it will work.
Try it, if you don't find another way to solve that.

You can use ADB but you need to know exact name of the app when it installs in data/app folder (also it could be in data app_private) that's it if you did not push it to system, first try to clear cache in recovery...
And to explain ADB here is redundant...it's not so easy but it's possible to learn in short time...so search here on xda forum ADB how to...

Probably, if it doesn't reset all date, the bad app would be there too, and with it the problem...
Next time don't do the factory reset, thats what erase all data, when well performed of course... and choose other settings to flash, you can flash to update the FW keeping all data and apps, some of them need to be re-installed but thats easy cause the .apk file remains in the phone root.

Here is your mistake.
Only (!) push the "vol -" key an plug in USB.
Do not touch the on/off-key!
You will see an info in the middle of the display.

The Windows didn't detect the phone on time, or you didn't wait untill it install the drivers.

First try to do a factory reset.
Turn it OFF
Press "VOL-" + Power button untill it turn ON, you'll be in "Android system recovery"
Select "wipe date/ factory reset" and press once "Power button"
Select "Yes -- delete all user data" and press "Power button once more"
After the reset just press "Power button" to restart the phone.
If it doesn't fix your phone, you'll need to flash it with a .kdz file.

You can choose one of "SmartPhone(WM), just select "EMERGENCY" on the right corner on the top.

- Download the APK file and install it

- start the LG 4X Recovery app
- press - Install recovery - grant superuser access when prompted
--- Three option lines in the app: 1st Install Recovery, 2nd Reboot Into Recovery, 3rd Normal Reboot
- wait for success OK, if it fails, something is wrong or SU is not properly installed or denied su access. you should set permissions to granted for this app
- after successfull installation, you can press boot recovery and boot into the twrp recovery and make your backups or install custom roms

Warning && Issue​
- DO NOT use the "Formate Date" function in wipe menu, this will make a soft brick, if U did this by mistake, U can reboot into stock recovery and run the "wipe date/cache" function to solve the soft brick.
- This recovery only supported the "standard update.zip" packages, this means some update.zip package which used none standard( EG: some cwm backup style update.zip for 4X HD atm) won't work on this recovery.
- For some reasons this recovery not support cwm bakcup package, only support TWRP backup package style(This is the TWRP issue). But, anyway, I'll make a patch for this later to support cwm backup package.

It doesn't support your P880G. Only the International P880.
Just do a factory reset. And you should be good.

Yes, of course...anyways, is there any development about this recovery? What about the possibility of reading/storing backups and roms from/to external sd? It would be a great feature!

Just had a bit of a nightmare situation, and would like to offer this advice to people:
**Always check that TWRP automatically turns your screen off after a few seconds of inactivity! **
I didn't. I left it alone backing up for 45 minutes and when I got back the screen was flickering like crazy.
As a result of my negligence my phone screen was almost permanently damaged, and on reboot my WIFI and 3G connections both completely stopped working.

Luckily I've managed to fix the connection issue by rolling back to ICS, and the screen appears to be returning to normal by itself.
But heed my warnings - the last three hours have not been fun.
Anyway, off to install CM10.1 now

Yes, I had the same problem!

i noticed the same but it also happened when screen was off.
i found out in some situations while using twrp the graphics chipsets updates the drawing parts (gui, ...) even if theres nothing more to update on the screen. it also does that when screen is "off"/timed out.
thats why i also took down my gbootmenu cause of twrp. dont want risk any possible damage to our devices.

Yes it went off for me, too
But if it locked down, I turned the screen on , so i thought it was my fault...

Is there already anywhere a TWRP 2.6 for P880 compiled ?

oh, finally 2.6 is out. will take a look on it and release it on my 2.5.0.0 thread.
this thread is outdated and not used by people with unlocked bootloader (it also didnt work for me with ics and locked bootloader)
edit: its out since 2 weeks, but the branch is still named twrp2.5, and the branch twrp2.6 is outdated so it confused me.

is that possible to install TWRP recovery via ROM MANAGER for OPTIMUS 4x...I have rooted and unlocked my boot loader next i want to install recovery.Can some one help me on this?

Alright. I know I'm stupid. So basically I flashed BlissPop on my Moto G 2nd Gen nearly a month ago. Everything worked fine so far, I flashed TWRP and BlissPop onto my beloved Moto G. I started getting a few issues with BlissPop so I decided to switch to CM12.1, so I downloaded CM12.1 [Titan] and tried to flash it using TWRP.
So this is where all starts. I got an error flasing the zip-file (I can't remember which error it EXACTLY WAS), but I already have wiped data, dalvik and even system without knowing, so I tried this again. This time, I accidently checked nearly everything to wipe off. So my phone turned off obviously and I couldn't get it to turn on again. It's basically hard-bricked. I found a tutorial here on XDA showing how to recover the Moto G into Stock-Android 4.4.4.
The problem is, it uses ADB. My phone isn't able to boot into recovery, not even into stock-recovery, there is literally NOTHING on my phone. My PC detects an unknown USB-device, when plugging in via USB-cable.
To sum it all up: My phone has no recovery mode, TWRP, ROM/OS, just nothing. It won't even boot up, but my PC detects it as an unknown USB-device.
I'm basically too stupid and way too poor to buy a new, good phone. So I'm asking you guys if there is any possibility to just get my phone into recovery again (no key-pressing combination works). :crying:
If you need any extra information, feel free to ask me, also I'm thanking you guys in advance, even though I'm pessimistic regarding this problem. :silly: :laugh: :crying:

Have you tried booting into bootloader mode? Hold the power button and the down volume button for about five seconds and release. If nothing happens, then I don't know.

I did the same thing...you're going to have to flash everything via fastboot. Or you can try ADB sideload, sideload work perfectly for me. I wiped everything off my phone accidentally.

But first of all , install the Motorola driver! (if you already installed , delete it , and re-install it).
And follow the steps from the guide!
This Guide is my always rescue kit!
After you're done , then if you want to install a rom , you must root it .....

Thank you so much guys. Unfortunately, I can't even boot my phone into bootloader. Literally, nothing works. But I'll give it a shot again, I'll let you know if something happens ASAP

You're pretty ducked. I'd recommend returning it and act like you're dumb to the customer service people. If you can't boot into anything, then you can't even repartition stuff.

I still can't boot my phone into ANYTHING though.

i need help i wiped out everything using twrp, but i can go to recovery mode but it says no os installed.
