Hi all, first of all sorry for my bad English, not my native language.
My question is if any developer is working on some android L port for moto X
I'm just anxious to have the new version in my hands
regards
They released "some" source for it....so ports are probably going to be tough until its officially released and the source code fully.
Thanks
I may be incorrect tho. Lol
I don't have any interest in anything unstable. Well, L may be....but too many apps don't work with it. I used L about an hour and wiped it.
I'll wait for official release.

When we can expect Android L for I9305? It's possible with this architecture?
it is possible BUT its way too early to know,, android L hasnt been completley finished yet
One thing is sure : Not from sammy , CM 12 or others yes it's sure when it would be released but for sammy the I9305 is already dead
Omg, guys, we don't have official KitKat, what is more, we have JB 4.3 which works like... doesn't work well enough. And Do You think, that samsung will provide android L for I9305 ?? I don't think. Will be great if we will get fully workinkg CM11 or CM 12(?) Based on android L.
Sammy just abandoned this model of premium phone.. For sure my last Sammy phone
Its Sammy way to say to customers: Thank you fot buying my expensive phone... Its the best... Next year is a obsolete machine buy another.
My next phone will be a Moto or Lg.
Bye bye Samsung.
Hello developers.Dont want to be annyoing but I'm new to this devicee and i kinda like it and tried lots and lots of roms for it, and you know that android L/Lollipop is coming soon out, and i want to ask if anyone is gonna like port it to our device because i know some really good developers like the major tonyp and other ones.So if yes i would be really really hyped for it like many other lol
i think that for the reply we have to wait CM12(?)sources comes out,but as i understood in the past our phone is supporting kitkat with a base that starts from ics sources,so we must wait and maybe isn't possible to port, but also for me it will be interesting if the devs can port a rom with lollipop.By the way i was thinking that we are running also some old version of the gapps to make it work with our device due to missing neon support(like youtube or google search for ex.),so don't know if it's possible

We had to wait 3 months for CM11 M1 to come out after KitKat was released, and knowing that Lollipop is quite a large overhaul and that it fully uses the ART runtime, we can expect a larger delay for CM12 M1. And even when it comes out, it will be almost featureless. As far as I know, Lollipop sources haven't been yet released, so we'll have to wait and see.
Second, yes, we are running on old ICS sources, so unless the 3.x kernel becomes super stable so we can use newer drivers, if they are available for our device, we'll have a bad time.
Third, this is a subforum for Development Discussion, so this kind of thread is more welcomed in the General Discussion section or even Q&A.
Keep on modding Other than that, KitKat development has been quite amazing in the last few months, and considering that the O2X is a device released in 2011, we are more than been blessed regarding this device. Ludnica, brate, ludnica.
Jes jes hahaha. Well whatever happens we will maybe be able to get something of it.I will try my best.I dont rly know much about coding but i know some stuff and i am learning every day more and more so yeah.I hope if we all combine our inteligence we will get something.
Oh and the sources should be out on i think November 5th
Testing Platform available
I like the idea of L for P990. I recently bought a new phone. That spares my P990 for testing full time as I have another phone for regular use. Please let me should you like to test anything, I will happily share the results. The least I can do to aid further development.
Hey any devs out there will skills ,resources and the time PLEAAASE PLEAAAASE make an AOSP build for the Moto X.... I know Motorola will be quick with their updates but i just cant wait!!! I am just refreshing the Development sections of the Forum every hour hoping for a ROM build....
I believe devs would have to make a whole new kernel since L was not released for the moto x yet. Not sure if someone will do that before it is officially released for us.
I just want it! Caaant wait! i really hope some dev is already working his ass off to bring us some Lollipop!

Without kernel and binaries = No deal. It was already tried with KitKat, I tried with the AOSP sources but without a Kernel developer dedicating it's precious time and the binaries/drivers, just give up on your dream.

Its definitely NOT impossible!!! When other devices like S3 mini,s3,Xperia Z can run without the binaries.... Why cant the Moto X? People have just given up on this phone!
I mean till now we were in the spotlight, but after Moto X 2014 we have been pushed back... We always have run the latest versions of Android till date n have never faced the need for porting n stuff... but i guess this will change when Motorola stops supporting us, then OSs would be ported withot Binaries!

They worked on other devices because they have common parts inside of them. Commom snapdragon chips, when the Moto X has the "powerful futureproof Moto X8 Mobile Computing System", it still a snapdragon, yeah, but heavily modified. As I said, until we see sources we won't get it. Why? The work to make a KitKat kernel (specially the Moto X one) work on Lollipop isn't worth the effort. Unless you pay someone for it...

As far as I understand the modification to the processor is not to the Main processor itself but its just the addition of further coprocessors... I doubt if Qualcomm would keep quiet if Motorola messed with their processor and called it their own! Aaand.. Even with the sources we are not allowed to use the coprocessors right? So they are pretty much useless! I STILL don't think its THAT HARD! yeah it might be hard... But others have done it... People here just don't try as much I suppose!

It's not worth porting over just so 50 people can have Lollipop on their Moto X 2013 when it's going to come within the next month anyway.'
Those other devices will probably either never get Lollipop or well get them much later.

The title tells it all. Are we going t be seeing a port of the android m developer preview like last year's android l? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I don`t think there`s any point in porting the developer preview, as the code could (and probably will) change a lot until the official release of M. It`s best to save up for that.
Last years port of L Developer Preview was really buggy and a lot of modules didn`t work at all. You had to do reverse tethering in order to get an active internet connection on it.

No one is wasting their time with the preview. There really is no point due to it not being a complete OS. Also to get it working on our device will require updated kernel source which is not released yet so many developers are not even touching it. Add in the fact thast every month it is getting updated until release in the fall.
Hi.
I have question most to the developers that work on our LG L90
Are you going to develop the custom rom based on Android M on LG L90 as I don't really thing that lg's gonna release it official for L90.
And if so, Is it possible to make it for now from currently avaible Android M Preview from Nexus devices?
It could possible bring some knowlege and idea that could help in the final Android M experiance/development bug fixes, etc
That's how I'm thinking, but I'm not developer so...
That's why I'm asking
Well L90 has CM support and CM will certainly update to Android M, so I think we'll get it eventually, but the d415 still has a bunch of problems with CM

There is no really stable version of any customROM for L90.
CM11 which is quite old is still having a few problems
CM12(.1) is quite buggy. Doesn't really bother for a daily use but there are option they shouldn't be available and random reboots...
Well LG android is not perfect but it's stable. So you can imagine how much time it take's to develop such a bug free ROM.
So you're telling me there is Android M preview when there is still unfinished (at least for me) Android L?
the worst thing which could happen for l90 development is loss of quarx
the future is not bright
@OP: We have to wait for Google to release the source for M and then we build roms, unless someone here is a hacking god and can port M right now . @olinojephanko I have watched this forum go from meh to booming so its just warming up I feel

So have I. Quarx did great job by every meaning, but he was almost (almost I say) the only one contributing. After his disappearance, the development started for real, when we started to have avability to choose roms that suit us, not only CM.
Now we've got a few really skilled devs (and I am not afraid to compare CaptivateKing's skills to Quarxs') and a few minor devs, not that much participating but still. And also we've got community. I see no reason why L90 development's future would be colored in black
@wojtek267
I hope so too.
