Hello guys, I'm new to android and I tried to root and is trying to install CynogenMod on an old Galaxy Ace.
I rooted it using a 'updated.zip' file by following an online guide and proceeded to install ClockworkMod.
After installing CWM and rebooting, I continued Cynogenmod . I realised that I cannot access the recovery menu(black screen). After failing many times, I reset the phone to factory settings and now the phone doesn't boot up.
However, I still can access download mode...
I there anyway to fix this ? Hope to get this phone fixed soon..

It's just a soft-brick so nothing to very about Since you can access the Download Mode, all you have to do is flash back the stock rom using odin. Now to unbrick your device, just use the following thread,
All Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 Stock Firmwares (2.3.X) Ever Released
First download the required firmware for your region from the first post. Once you have done that, go to the link in the second post. Download all the files (usb drivers, odin and ops) except firmwares (which you have already downloaded from the first post) in the "Preparation" section. Now install the USB drivers and follow the "Single Firmware File Installation". Once you have finished flashing, go to stock recovery mod and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace which you can install from stock recovery mode (always root first and then install CWM),
How To Root and Unroot Samsung Galaxy Ace?
CWM 5.0.2.6 fix for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830
Once you have installed CWM, you can flash any custom rom. CM 11 (KitKat) roms usually need CWM 6 but there is one CM 11 rom name KitKat for All that works well with CWM 5. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
P.S. Always post such question in the Galaxy Ace S5830 Q/A section. Reported to FM to move to right section.

Hi
Okay so the problem is my Samsung galaxy mini doesnt get detected by Odin v.4.85 but it gets detected in v.1.85. I've tried restarting the phone many times. All settings are set in the "Application" and USB debugg. All usb drivers are installed 100% with Samsung Kies.
Also tried reinstaling the drivers and other versions it still didnt work. Its 100% not the USB cable cuz it works perfectly fine when out of download mode and Kies recognizes the device.
I've tried rooting it with SuperOneClick also , that one gets stuck on one line...I've also tried through recovery mode but it didnt work either i got error, and interrupted.
Also a question : Is it possible to get clockworkmod and root without using Odin?
In any case theese info are needed:Android version is 2.3.6(i did not install this one it came with the phone) , Baseband version 25570IXXKL4, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7([email protected] #1), Build Number GINGERBREAD.IXXKL4

Make sure the zip is downloaded properly.
Also choose install from SD card option not, apply update from SD.

I not have understand if you have rooted or not? if not, before of flash from recovery you must rename the package zip for rooting in update.zip or upd_1.zip (this should be right for your firmware) and then go in recovery and do apply update from sdcard and should works, if not if you not rename the package not works.

Hi,
Well i was trying to rooting up my phone for trying out Cynogenmod 9 (ICS 4.0) .....
The files i transferred to the sd card :
1.) recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix
2.) upd_1
As instructed on tutorial guide... first i installed clockwork 5.... its done without any errors.... after that i tried "upd_1", which aborted installation with some "(status 7)" error..... after that i rebooted cell and gone for factory reset..... after that my ace got stucked up on boot loop screen.... cant go any furthur..... same step repeats many many times..... but no result......
I tried 2 guides....
1.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
2.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552695
I'll appreciate any help regarding my boot loop problem.....
Thanks & Regards
Status 7 error relates to errors in updater script,it should not have been ignored like that.Furthermore,upd_1.zip is a root package for GB roms, not ICS roms,so wrong bin file there. Can you get to download mode? Or,atleast recovery?
Same problem
Hi I have the same problem just keeps cycling through the Samsung boot screen on a loop. I can get into Download mode and also I can boot into recovery. I downloaded a stock rom S5830XWKPN_S5830SWKP6_S5830XEUKP1_HOME Then I used odin 4.38 and clicked on OPS and used cooper_v1.0.ops and then clicked on one package and clicked on the zip of the stock rom I downloaded. Everything seemed to go well, but then the phone got stuck on this loop of the Samsung boot screen. I hope that you can help please.

hmmm I think he's still in GB. I think he means he's trying to prepare his ace to flash ICS rom cause obviously you can't flash ICS with stock recovery.
as for the op... try using stock recovery and flash upd_1? thats what I did.

Boot into recovery and wipe data.
Make a wipe in standart or full wipe in custom and flash again with odin! It will surely help

Is the phone bricked? I have tried using packages from Odin and One Click Unbrik but they both fail, I can get into download mode, but I cannot get into recovery mode. It just says ARM9 or something whenever I try. Is there a solution yet?
i fixed my phone i kept on having boot loops after falshing single packing so i turned the phone off then hold power and home till you come to recovery option wipe cache and i think its factory reset or full wipe so do both wipes then reboot phone WALA my phone was working hope this helps and dont forget to tick thanks button :good:
boot loop with other issues too...
hi there guys. I'm new to this forum and also to flashing...
but anyways I had a good look before flashing my phone but still messed it up...silly me
I tried rooting my phone via SD card(first clockwork mod ace 4 followed by clockwork mod 5 as said in tutorial) then upd_1 and then cm9. But after installing clockwork mod ace 4 I get :" E: failed to mount/ system (invalid argument)" same happens when trying to wipe cache partition/ data/ factory reset.
I can get into android system recovery no problems and also into odin download mode (where it gives you the warning and prompts you to press volume up if you still want to continue. It is also stuck on the samsung screen if I don't press anything.
But when trying to connect the phone to odin in order to rectify what I've done (with the one package methode, either gingerbread or cmw9) odin won't detect my phone. I used several different cables, original samsung cables, changed usb ports (directly off the motherboard) but to no avail.
heimdall will recognise the phone as far as I can see (when you click on detect device it says: "device detected") but I cannot find the right files I need to use for heimdall. I would very much appreciate any help and advice. Please point me in the right direction, show me where to download the correct files and which ones and please bear in mind I'm a noob. put it as plain as bread for me please :good:
just flash clockworkmod 5 and format system and data...
do a complete wipe ...clear cache,, wipe dalvik
then mount system and data and install any of ur modded stock or cm7... enjoy
---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 PM ----------
many roms are pre rooted plus u dont need rooot access to flash rom
to flash CustomROM u dont need to root first our ace simply flash CWM 5 and put your CustomROM flashable .zip to your sdcard and then fullwipe (data, cache, advantage) and done.....
most of CustomROM now can directly flash from previous or Other CustomROM without flash to StockROM first..

It changes everything. 5830 is completely different from 5830i (they only share the name). Roms and mods for 5830 might brick your phone, so be careful.

In clockworkmode, there is the option "update.zip". That is not for your Rom file but to root your phone with Superuser.
To flash ROM file, do as instructed in Thread by op . i.e. the thread maker.
Doing other steps by avoiding the instructions, you may face this problem.
and if you want to go back to your stock rom, go here:

So, you're using ClockWork Mod ? If so did you follow this rule of flashing :
- Copy zip
- Install zip
- Wipe data
- Wipe cache
- Reboot
Also, make sure that you're running Gingerbread, Froyo tend to make custom ROM stopped working.

HELLLLOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! This post have been moved from sgm2 forum to mini at my request!
Hy,
I just want you to know that I solved my problem. I used a Windows 7 session and the computer/odin/windows recognized my download mode. (Win 8.1: go hell!)
Anyway, you know the reste of the story. Thanks
While installing a coustom rom my phone(Samsung Galaxy Ace GTs-5830) had stucked. Then I have restored my phone using CWM backup to Pacman jellybean custom rom. After that odin is unable to detect my phone, i have updated samsung driver on pc. Even any custom rom are unable to treat my device as "Galaxy ace 5830".I have tried to install stock recovery, but same thing don't detecting my phone and installation is being aborted.
What can i do now?
Help me plz, thanks in advance.
Check the usb cable
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk
Don't flash stock recovery(I guess there isn't any ). So, try flashing stock firmware via Odin. Use correct name of ops file : COOPER_v1.0.ops & Odin straightaway displays the model name in its title bar even if the phone isn't physically connected to PC via USB cable.
Use Odin v4.42 atleast.
& pls. never flash stock firmware directly over any jellybean rom. First flash any stable CM7 rom & then u r good to go
Hope this helps...!!

When your phone is not detected by odin, it's usually the driver's. Just follow this link,
How to Install Stock ROM on Galaxy Ace Using Odin [GT-S5830]
Go to the "Preparation" section and download all the necessary files. Re-install the drivers again and check if odin detects it. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
I think Cable is OK, because mass storage mode is working with that cable. But when in download mode, PC saying Mulfunctioned device.
I have put ops file, showing my model number. But whenever I click on start. Its saying to connect the device first.
I think problem is not in my PC driver.
Because custom ROM installations are also aborted, showing error about device is not "5830"

Since the nandroid backup is working perfectly, try using the mobile odin for Samsung Galaxy Ace. Install it as a normal apk file and choose the required stock firmware from your SD Card. See if you flash the stock rom back. Here is the link,
Mobile ODIN Lite v3.57 (GT-S5830 Support) - Flash Firmware on your device
Do post the result. Hope i Helped
