[Q] Atrix HD DOA - Motorola Atrix HD

I have an Atrix hd with the Maxx battery mod. No roms just stock android. The other day it was freezing and I did a hard reset. Got it up and running but later on it froze again and nothing. I opened it up and looked at the battery the ribbon cable looked like the connections have been severed so I bought a new battery thinking I could swap it out and solve it. Still nothing
I have no notification lights, doesn't look like the screen is getting power, I have tried charging it with 2 different chargers (stock and 2.1 amp from nexus tablet) before and after battery swap. Tried usb to pc to see if that would do something and nothing. It is totally bricked.
My question is is there any hope? All of threads I have found on getting it back up lead me nowhere. Thank You

[Q] Milestone dead, no power

I was flashing the latest iceandfire rom, did a reboot and the Moto logo came up but it never booted. Holding the power button didn't do anything so I pulled the battery. Now there's nothing. The LCD never comes on, can't get into recovery or boot loader. No charging light, nothing...
This has happened to me before and I had it sent back to Motorola. They were able to reflash the phone, I know because I got the same phone back. How they managed to flash it without it powering up is a mystery to me but I know it's possible. Has anyone managed to do this? I would send it back to Moto again but this time, it's out of warranty.
Did you charge with USB cable? I had this once where USB charge completely failed. I just had to use my car charger and that fired the phone back up.
I had this happen to me also...use a Motorola brand (no copies) wall or car charger and leave it plugged in. My MS does this when it gets really close to 0% charged...
Sent from my Milestone using XDA Premium App
I don't think the battery is dead, it was full and I was plugged in while I did the flash. The charge light flicks on and then goes out when I plug any cable in but I'll give it a shot with the moto charger when I get home.
yeah, the phone's bricked... using all factory chargers and cables, it still doesn't power up.
I give up... tried all night to get it to the boot loader. I guess I'll be selling this thing for parts and use this iphone4 I got through Fido retentions until I figure out my next phone
Before you throw it away:
Try getting another (full) battery or another Milestone (to charge it), or something like this: (I am not allowed to post a link, so google: UNIVERSAL BATTERY CHARGER, select the first video in results).... charge it, then re-insert the battery and try to power on device holding d-pad UP + pressing power button.... it should bring you to bootloader mode, then connect usb cable and use RSDLITE to flash the appropriate SBF for your device and region..... and for ROMS (SBFs) google: milestone sbf, select the first link in results.... hope it helped... cheers....
Does the "McGiver" jumpstart thing using a usb cable with the device end cut and keeping some of the wires connected to the device in the battery compartment work on Milestone? I know a friend that could "unbrick" his Defy using this method....
Do you have a link? I remember reading this somewhere as well. It's worth a shot, not like the thing can be more dead. I still don't think it's the battery tho, it was full when I performed the flash.
Nevermind.... I found it, it didn't work... lol... oh well..
Sometimes the batteries memory will glitch
Not the battery, it was full when I did the flash and I tried jumping the battery terminals with a USB cable. It was good while it lasted but I already picked up a BNIB Captivate for $300 off Craigslist.
Anyone know what a Milestone sold for parts would be worth? It's about a year old and I would say the condition is 8.5-9.0/10

Before you sell it, take out the battery, SIM card and memory card, then leave it for AT LEAST 5 days. Then try again.
I have a similar problem with my milestone, at first I thought it was dead, then after a week I tried again (just on the off chance) and was able to get into the bootloader menu and reflash it.
There is something inside the Milestone that holds charge for several days, and pulling the battery for at least 5 days seems to clear it. This has happened 3 times with mine, and each time I was able to get it started again.
This may not work for you, it depends on exactly whats wrong with yours, but its worth a try.
there is a post from a guy looking for the motherboard... u might want to see that... sorry for ur device

[Q] Phone died and wont turn back on

Ok so a short few weeks ago I plugged my phone into a generic charger to charge for the night. When I woke up the next morning the phone was off. I tried all of the button combinations and even the official charger and nothing changed just the occasional flash of the green LED. Fast forward to yesterday... I got in my eb40 battery and put it in the phone. Plugged it in and it gave me a green light that flashed for two seconds when I put it on the official charger, but it still will not turn on...
Is there anything I am missing or is my phone just dead for good?
Try getting a factory cable to charge with. Not the oem one a factory one.

Kinda related. My Dad's AHD started randomly rebooting when it was being charged. It ended up being his USB cable had a short in it. I gave him one of my backup Moto cables and it works just fine now. His lesson should have been "Don't leave my cord tight at a weird ass angle coming from the dongle" but it really was "My son will just give me a new one if I screw this one up".
Night before last I used a friends generic wall charger on my AHD running PAC and it took forever to charge. 8 hours went from 56% to 97% and it was pretty hot too. The only generic charger I've used with my AHD that actually worked just fine is a cheap ass Dollar Store car charger with a USB port on it.
In my experience with Moto phones, only use Moto Wall Chargers & Moto Cables, but generic car chargers with Moto Cables seem to be just fine. My Moto Bravo and Defy don't like non-Moto wall chargers either.
My suggestion would be the same as post 2, only when you get that cable, in fastboot mode, do a full factory reset and flash your previous stock firmware (assuming it was ATT 4.1.1), root/unlock it if necessary, flash Bell or Mex 4.1.2 with Myth/Fastboot/RSD, do whatever. With a factory cable you can flash with 0 battery and be OK (it powers the phone directly from the USB port).
Thanks for the tip. I will look into either buying one or making my own factory cable. Yall Rock!
One last question before I set about my quest. Can I make a factory cable from any micro usb cable?
Yeah, just use a high quality one.
I got a factory cable and plugged it in to my comp. Nothing happened. I guess my phone must be dead.
Side note: If i take the battery out and plug it into my comp with the regular usb cable the green light comes on and my comp registers it as a usb input device. Does that mean anything to anyone?
Can you measure any voltage across the battery termiinals? Does the battery look in good condition?
The first thing I did was put a brand new battery in it. The old one was starting to get ripples like it was swelling. Once I get home I will try and get a reading off the battery terminals though.
Update: Just got home. Battery is reading a solid 3.7 on the multimeter.
I guess its time to retire my poor little Atrix HD... it was barely over a year old
If any one can think of anything else to try, Please feel free to post your ides. I will check back here often to see if there are any new suggestions.

This, maybe?
Last night while using my Atrix HD with 4.3 CM 10.2 nightly from maybe 2 weeks ago, my phone froze. After hitting the power button repeatedly the screen finally went off. Now it wont turn back on, it had plenty of battery life left, I tried 2 chargers to try to get an led reading response, nothing. Strange coincidence out phones went out so near to one another.
Yea it really sucks. I loved this phone. Now im stuck using my X10 for a year till I get an upgrade.

[Q] Nook HD Battery Not Charging (Stock adaptor/cable.)

My nook HD tablet's battery isn't wanting to charge after only a year and a few months change. I have tried different plugs, did a debris check on everything. Secure connections and LED turns on to green so power is getting to the thing. The brick it came with worked last might so I dunno.
This is a disgrace since it's only been a year and change. the laptop Google sent me? Ye Olde Underpowered CR48? After five years and nearly /destroying/ the keyboard to the point the letters and f/j guide bumps are gone... still gives 3ish hours of battery.
Technically the nook HD is not user serviceable, but if newpower99 still sells replacements, intend on ordering one end of the week. However I am open t any suggestions if anyone has them since I don't particularly like the idea of dropping $60 on a battery if I can avoid.
Charging while off? USB mode?
I am reasonably new to this device, but I have two observations. First, if you have used a tool such as @verygreen usb mode switcher to (attempt to) get host mode, then the charge light shows green even though it is not charging. See other threads about this - I can confirm this is the case. Also, not sure when this happened b/c I've been changing lots of things lately, but now I note that the powered-off Nook HD+ does not charge at all (no lights, no change in charge % at next power-on). This is from Nook wart or "smart charger" 2.4A. I can boot to recovery and that seems to allow charging. The only reason I mention this is because I am attempting the Advanced Battery Calibration (look in Play Store) which requires a shutoff plus recharge. If your Nook HD will still boot, maybe this will help.

Mine did the same. Orange light is charging green isn't... Mine would sometimes charge on a computer USB port but never on any charger. A different charge cable and it works on stock charger as well as other high output chargers. Those are tough to find though. Battery life is still fine.

Note 4 Battery Unable to Charge

Hello!
A little bit after I upgraded my micro-SD card, I started getting the message "unable to charge your device. make sure you are using a samsung-compatible battery and charger..." while using an OEM battery and charger. I haven't been able to charge my phone at all and have since tried another battery, wiping my phone, and of course trying other chargers. Anybody know what is going on? Thank you for your help!
Did you try removing your SD card? Sounds like that may be the culprit... Although odd.

Before I noticed the battery wasn't charging, my phone started rebooting itself randomly and getting quite hot. Suspecting that it may be a corrupt SD card, I tried formatting it, replacing it, and removing it altogether. I'm waiting for a standalone charger to be delivered so I can get the battery level up but do you think maybe restoring with Kies could help?
Thank you!
You could try, but I don't think it will matter. About 2 months ago I was having a similar issue, phone was giving me the same error message. I think it happened after my battery went completely dead. I kept trying to charge it, and finally it charged. No issues since.

Ok, so I managed to charge the battery using a standalone charger and reflashed the phone back to stock using Samsung SmartSwitch. The phone charges intermittently but also reboots randomly...I have no idea what is going on.
Battery overheated message even it feels cool in hand
Have these strange issues:
Trying to charge my phone and I got this from the bottom screenshots.
I'm on stock 5.0.1. firmware, no root, one month old phone.
I tried everything including software reset / write firmware from ODIN, other battery, same results.
My last thought is send the phone to warranty
Even the messages worn me about battery overheated , touching with the hand I don't feel any heat.
Any idea? Thanks!
I have that issue right now. It looks like my phone got wet during Halloween and I tried to charge it. It got hot and I left overnight. In the morning it started giving me these messages. Batteries charge fine in wall chargers, but not in the phone itself. Even wireless charging produces the same message.

I pulled my case off and moved my battery around while plugged in since doing the same with the usb did nothing. I noticed it would switch from charging to the error message saying it could not charge. I then pulled the contacts out a little bit cause they were not all the same distance out. Put battery in phone and it charges.
I had this issue, which is quit disturbing... i have a trick to get it right as it worked for me... might work for you guys as well... Take your battery out and press power button for 30 sec min... Take a perfume... or siprit... pour it or spray it inside the charging port and let it dry... As it dries up you will not face the issue again... hope it helps... its the dust inside that creates problems.
Pouring anything into the charging port is probably the worst idea I have ever heard. How about first checking that the charger port connections are dirty or corroded. If it is turn the phone off before trying to clean it out. Circuit board cleaner is around 3 to 7 bucks a can and you get the version with zero residue. Or try a stick pin to gently clean it out? I've replaced a charger port on a note 3 and it was a piece of cake. I imagine the note 4 can't be too difficult.

I've had problems liken this before... from a dying battery. It is VERY frustrating. It first happened on my HTC Sensation, and it took months to figure it out. Buying a new battery has fixed charging issues, phone random reboots, phone dying even though 15 to 30% remaining, and bootloops. These were issues that have popped-up with many different phones, over the years - luckily I only buy phones with replaceable batteries - but my main and back-up batteries both went bad, this year! (BTW, it's easy to tell it's the battery when the issue only happens on one battery, and not on the other)
I recommend you buy OEM Samsung batteries on Amazon or eBay. If you use NFC, MAKE SURE your battery supports NFC - the cheapest ones don't.
Got the same issue.. My phone suddenly stopped charging and when i try to plug it again the charging icon wont show.. I left it charging again for 30min and had no luck.. then i saw this thread and got the idea..
I removed the battery, micro-sd card, stylus, phone sim and press the power button for 30 sec. (this will reset all energy stuck on the internal board.)
Then, I cleaned the usb port with a sticky note.. folded the sticky part just as it fits on the port and gently swipe it to get out the dust.. The dust makes a disturbing connection between the USB cable so it wont continue charging..
Returned the battery and all items then tried charging again. And it worked!! :victory:
Worth the try.. Good luck!
Got mine working by pulling micro usb half way out and back couple times
Before that i tried to clean port and 30s power button without battery but no changes.
Maybe dust still or something software glitch. Like day or two before installed Battery Charge Limit app and used gear vr. It gave some sort charge message and not even charging. Not sure does this nothing to do with the problem..
Update: Problem returned after battery change and after that i put some wd40/cleaned battery connectors and working again. Hopefully last..

Asus Memopad (me176cx) dead?

The tablet is dead, it was suddenly. Won't charge or turn on and it's not recognised by the PC. Recovery mode (power button + volume-) doesn't work either.
I know that is not the screen, because the PC doesn't detect the tablet at all. I tried with another battery (my wife has the same tablet), but I had no luck. I also know that the charger and the usb cable are fine.
What else I can do, any ideas or suggestions?

I had the same symptoms after disconnecting and reconnecting battery,I hed to disconnect it for like an hour and then three times try to power on the tablet and it did power on. Maybe your battery is dead so after another hour you may try to use the other battery. If it will work, try to connect the batteries together so the dead one can get a little charge (but do some research I am not sure if it won't have a chance to damage anything) then the same after an hour connect try power on and if it powers on immediately give it a charge.

Just wondered if you had tried this and if so, how you got on? Asking because I bought my daughter one off ebay and it was working fine when I got it, am sure I recharged it once , she played it and then again in morning and thinks she played it till battery ran out. I have since tried charging via pc and mains power, and have disconnected battery twice (case was v. easy to remove so concerned this fault may be reason it was sold), but cannot get a flicker of a response on screen. i got my daughter this as she was desperate for an android tablet for mods for minecraft as I had bought her a Amazon Fire 7 and from what I could see just after xmas, it wasnt possible to root it or sideload at that time, and she said Amazon had no mods compared to the play store and she had been ecstatic with the mods she had found for her android for the short time she had it. I do know when I plug it into the wall charger that the motherboard area gets warm if its been plugged in for a while? Bit of a noob on this stuff, and off sick with probs with my nervous system so my concentration and memory can be a pia. Anyway I was wondering how I can find out if its goosed or what I can try? One of the batterys advertised on ebay is about £50 which seems steep to me, esp. if it doesnt fix it, and esp since I have been unable to work for a few years cos of this illness. I only bought the tablets cos I had extra money after I finally applied and got pip, and got it backdated. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced option for her for her minecraft? Should I go the tablet\notebook type route or can they not handle minecraft? Bit confused by these new notebooks esp touchscreen ones as new ones seem to have small amounts of ram yet are v. popular.
Thanks for advice\thoughts\feedback and let me know if I should start ,y own thread...I only jumped on this to see how he got on and then as I do nowadays with this illness, I then jumped from topic to topic that jumped into my head x sorry x

Firt I would try to trickle charge the battery.
BEFORE YOU DO THIS:
Remove the SD CARD. I forgot to do this and snapped my card straight in half removing the back cover.
This started happening to my ME176 as well but of course not until after I retired it and gave it to my mom.
I would start by letting it sit on the charger for about 30 minutes (since we don't know the current charge state and if the overcharge block is functioning). This will give it a slight charge if dead.
Disconnect charger and remove the back cover and disconnect the battery (as posted earlier). Push and hold the power button a few times even though there is no power.
It may take a few tries of disconnecting and reconnecting the battery before it decides to power up, so keep the cover off while doing this.
