Hey guys, got an Xperia Z c6603, unlocked bootloader, flashed Paranoid Android and have been running fine ever since. However, last night while in use the phone just went black. I can't turn it on, when holding the power button I get the LED in the top right corner flashing red 3 times. It won't seem to take a charge either.
Things I've tried;
Power Button + Volume Up (No Response)
Power Button Holding (Red LED flashes 3 times)
Power Button + Volume Down (No Response)
Connecting to charger (sometimes the LED flashes red once for a moment and then turns off)
All the above combinations while plugging into charger (No Response)
Connecting to PC (Same as above and Windows won't detect it)
Trying to enter Flash mode and Fastboot mode (No Response)
Anything I can do to revive my Xperia Z? It seems to me like the battery is almost completely discharged. Already sick of returning to an iPhone after having a great eXperiance so far
Any attempt at help is appreciated!
Hmmm, I think something might be wrong with either your motherboard or the on/off button. I'm pretty sure it's not a battery related problem in terms of it being almost dead. I've got my XZ since Feb 28 2013 and my phone still survives for days.
I don't know how long you've got your phone, but it might be time for a repair center, since there isn't really much you can do. Especially since the phone isn't being recognized by Windows anymore.
I got a few red led blinks in the past but i fixed it after charging (just pluged the charged and booted fine)
Try to leave it on charger or wall charged for 1 day and see

Hi everyone.
My SP doesn't want to turn on anymore for a unknown reason. When plugging it to the pc\charger the red led appears and then disappears. Non of the tips (power + vol. plus, power + vol. minus) doesn't work.
Please, help. If your suggestion will help, I'll pay you.
put it into charger and leave it charging for like 1-2 hours, also remove sim and sd card

It was on the charger all night long (with no sim and sd) and nothing. But now there is no red light.
Take it back to the shop

How did this happen?? Try this pull out the back panel and press the reset button with a pin and hold the power button and see what happens
Also you may try this install Sony PC companion This will install all the correct drivers for the phone then take usb cord Holding volume Down And Plug it to the phone. If all goes well the led at the bottom should glow green
I had a similar issue and after 4 days of trying all what i could find out in XDA for bricked Xperia phones my SP is back alive.
For me it happened during flashing (with Flashtool 0.9.11) the stock firmware .257 with to less battery power.
Short Info to my phone when it happened
Sony Xperia SP C5303
Kernel: Dooms v01 (i do not think that this was the problem!)
Bootloader: unlocked
Stock firmware from C5302 version .284
System: deodexed and rooted
When i say flashing i did it always with flashtool because PC Companion and SUS did not recognize my phone at all (with locked bootloader).
My SP was behaving as following.
- When i put the wall charger on the phone nothing happened no lights nothing same if plugged in to the computer.
- If i pressed the power button unconnected the LED flashed red 3 times all the time,
after a while nothing happened anymore (which gave me the indication that the battery is completely empty)
- If i pressed the power button continuous during charging (wall/computer) the red light turned on until i released the power button.
When pressing the Power button long enough during i was connected to the computer the green light turned on and i was in flash mode.
But only for maximum 2 min. This was enough to flash all firmware parts except the system.sin (at ~80 % phone disconnected).
And this was the problem my SP stayed dead.
Before someone asks, standard connecting while pressing the volume down for flash mode or volume up for fastboot mode didn't work.
Now i tryed all:
- Left the phone on the wall charger without doing anything -> nothing
- Left the phone on the computer without doing anything -> nothing
- Left the phone on the wall charger/computer while pressing the power button continuous (did it with a tape) -> nothing except that it went in flash mode and red light again all the time
Now my last try (i was reading this in an X10 thread):
I plugged the phone more than 7 hours to the computer while pressing the volume down button continuously (again taped).
Next morning it first looked like that this also did not work.
But as i disconnected the phone from the computer and plugged in again the red light stayed on.
Ok give it a try i thought and i put the phone to my wall charger for 1 hour or so also here the red light was glowing continuous now.
And yeah i could connect the phone to the computer in the normal way volume down than usb and i was in flash mode.
I was now able to flash the complete stock firmware. After again putting the phone to the wall charger for 1 hour the system was booting :victory: .
And now i saw the problem battery charge in status bar showed 1 % but the firmware start up check showed 55 % .
I remember that i did wipe the battery stats in recovery before all that happened.
No idea if this caused the problem.
However i could now charge my phone and it is still alive relocked and on stock.
Hope this helped and good luck.
To prevent other people from this bad situation i tried to remember exactly what caused the drain of the battery to 0%.
Battery was on 25% at start. (I know this was stupid, i was too impatient as dooms v16 and cwm for locked bootloaders were released :silly
1.I started with trying to update my mobile to stock with PC Companion and SUS,
without thinking about that this will not work with unlocked bootloader. -> first battery drain
2. Got stock FTF for .257 (c5303) and wanted to flash it which did not work got errors always.
My SP was connected flashmode on my notebook a long time while i was trying to fix that (reading XDA, driver config etc).
Several times tried to flash without success.
-> drain, drain and more battery drain not thinking about that i started with only 25%.
3. Gave up on my notebook and connected my phone to the Desktop PC (here the config was ok i knew that from flashing before on that computer).
Meanwhile i assume that my battery was already close to completely empty.
As the flash of the FTF (all parts) started my phone turned off and was "dead", i do not remember on which sin it turned off.
The whole time 1. 2. 3. i never booted i always stayed disconnected or in flashmode.
And than the mess began which i posted in my previous post.
So my SP is officially dead. Need to replace to motherboard.

You should keep pressing that button till your phone's screen goes black and vibrates 3 times if it doesn't do that then either the mobo is dead or the button is broken!
well... that's why I kinda hate sony why not do like most makes do (Like iphone, htc, samsung etc just long press the power button to reset the damn thing! It gets really annoying to keep pulling my case and back cover off and then putting a pencil in that tiny hole in public :/)

watch?v=daNue2RsUbY ( video of my phone with the fading logo )
had the same problem with mines ( i manage to record this fading logo part )
hours later after the record my phone won't even turn on and it only shows that red light popping up when i press the power button
i brought it to sony's service center here and they replaced the battery, that managed to fix it <3
For me pressing the back off button and volume + button force it to fastboot mode. From there just flash a kernel and it is fixed.
which kernel???
Hi i have a sony xperia z that just doesn't want to power on when it's plugged into the charge the red led appears however that red led goes off after it's been in the charge in around half an hour of it charging it doesn't get recognised by the pc by flashtool or sus or pc companion not any hard reset or any of that work such as vol up + power and vol down + power or vol up + plugging usb in even if i hold the buttons for around 5 minute nothing happens, this phone isn't water damaged as all the indicators are white
Connect to pc's usb and leave it for some times.
And maybe you can explain more what you was doing before it happens like this.
i have connected to the pc and i also left it for more then an hour just when i first connect it to the pc it has a red led but later on that red led comes off and i honestly don't know i bought this phone in this state
I had the phone connected to the pc and that red led went off for a bit then it came back on
Are you using the original charger?
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
yes i tried multiple chargers aswell
i heard about dead xperias without reasons(in most of cases they turned off the phone and it never turn on again) maybe is better if you take it to a centre
Could it be the battery by any chance
bump
Help?
hold down the volume up and power button for 10 seconds, it reboots the phone
let me no if it works
Try what Andy194 said. Falling that try speaking to Sony themselves. Mine did that and they offered me a warranty replacement. Luckily the problem solved itself. As I was about to put it back in its box and send it off, it suddenly booted up fine, on its own.

My Z refused to charge when it was on 1%, as if its conntact with usb cable is not working well, happened once already but it returned to normal. So I decided to turn it off as it would turn itself off anyway. Plugged it in, but it didn't work. Used my Arc's cable and the red led light came up. I waited a bit for the phone to boot up to get to the charging animation, but nothing happened so I plugged it out and to my surprise the red light didn't go off and I can't do anything to turn it on. The phone is just rooted to 4.2.2, BL is locked.

Edit: left it plugged in my laptop and after 15 minutes or so it powered up. Yay T-T

Did you left your phone whilst reinstalling any ROM or flashing anything?
I can suspect that you;ve bricked your device.
You can try to stick POWER BUTTON + VOL. rocker and leave it for entire night. I have read that some had fixed this issue by the way which I'm writing now, but I'm not sure if it will work to you.
You can even leave your phone connected to charger for some while.
If it will not work either - I have seen some where in this forum thread in which were specified how to unbrick XZ with disassemblying it

I managed to get it running now wi fi mobile data doesn't work, and power button works to lock the screen but doesn't work to wake. I'm flashing .292 via flashtool, i hope all my problems will be solved. Before they worked very well.
Hi
I am stuck with a phone that won't boot, charge, or be detected by flashtool (or windows) and will not boot in flashmode/fastboot either.
I had plugged in the phone for charging when the battery was considerably low ~ 5-10% before I went to sleep. I remember the red LED glowing, meaning the phone must've been charging.
The next morning I check the phone, the LED was STILL red and the handset was kind of dead - no response at all, whatsoever. Even the reset button on the bacl panel doesn't work (no vibration).
The phone was running BlissPop (5.1.1) with Tangerine kernel.
Now when I plug in the phone for charging, nothing happens at all, not even the red LED. The LED does glow red for as long as I press and hold the power button while it is plugged in (both PC and wall outlet)
I took it to the service center; they say they'll have to change the motherboard. Obviously the phone is not in warranty and there is no way I can pay 10,000 INR that Sony is demanding for the job.
Someone somewhere in the forums suggested allowing the battery to drain completely, but I don't think my battery is holding any charge.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

1. Press and hold the reset button for 8 seconds and check if it vibrates. Now plug in charger as there is a possibility that phone is not booting because of insufficient charge.
2. Charge for atleast 20 min without switching on phone.
3. Make sure flashtool is installed properly and so as drivers.
4. Flash Stock ftf
If the above didnt work then try Fastboot mode and simply flash Tangerine kernel.
If nothing works, then its an hardware issue and there is no point in spending 10k in repairing.
Get yourself a brand new Moto G or yureka.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717303 <- this guy had a pretty similar problem and managed to fix it
I was following the steps he provided: i plugged the phone to PC and held the power button pressed. Surprisingly the PC did recognize the phone after a while- but it was only momentarily and the red LED also stopped glowing. Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce a similar situation after that.
bump!
Hey all,
I recently got an Xperia X Performance that was sold to me as faulty.
At first I thought it was the battery as it wouldn't charge (No LED) and holding Vol + Power did nothing.
I got a new battery, installed it and won't turn on.
When I plug it into the AC Adapter, no LED comes on.
If I hold Vol+ Power it vibrates once, then 3 times and depending on how long I hold it for (Could be 10 seconds, could be a minute) it might do that cycle again.
If I let go at a certain point I have able to:
Have a Red LED constantly on, even when the USB is not connected.
Have a Green LED constantly on, also when the USB is not connected. (PC Won't recognize either)
And the Sony Logo flashes up on a white screen for a split second and turns off and then it's dead again.
Note: The phones motherboard does get warm when I have one of the LEDs on. So something is going on.
I tried using the Xperia Companion to repair it (Like I did with many Z phones back in the day when they did similar things and that always worked) - this one doesn't work at all. PC Doesn't detect it.
Tried on a Win 7 and Win 10 system, both no avail.
When I took the back cover off the phone, someone has used, what I thought to be super glue to seal it shut.
And the OG battery was loose inside the phone before I replaced it.
So I am thinking, either it's bricked or just completely dead.
Have yet to check with a multimeter on the USB port but I believe it is working.
If anyone has any suggestions, or maybe some sort of help - I have only seen this issue with the older Xperia Z phones. Help is needed!
Thanks heaps!
