Since I got KitKat, the exchange service and email has been draining my battery.
I disabled the exchange service and my battery went back to normal, but that was for couple days and I can't keep going without getting my mail.
And my phone has been unusually hot too, when Exchange Service drains the battery.
I have the Verizon Dev editorial. I have experienced the battery drain when my phone was rooted and unlocked, also when it wasn't.
I've removed my Exchange account already so I don't have images, but I can confirm it was draining my battery so fast, I needed at least 2 charges a day.

There's a known issue with Exchange sync and KitKat. I read somewhere Google is aware and a fix is in the works.

I am shocked that this problem has been identified and publicized for a week now and no update on a fix from Google. I rely 100% on my MotoX for work and I have to manually check to get email and it is not syncing when I delete emails. Very frustrating. I have not paid enough attention to the battery issue to say how that is going.
Get touchdown in the meantime, it grew on me when I had similar issues with jelly bean on S3. Since switching to touchdown zero issues with Exchange email.

I have veeeery bad battery life with my Moto X, maximum screen on time is 1.5 hours, wake lock detector requires root, any other apps which can detect the battery drain?

You must have a defective phone or something wrong with your software. I already have an hour of screen on time and am still at 90%.
I am at CES right now, so probably it happens because of overloaded 4G... But previously the battery life was relatively bad anyway

Gsam will tell you a lot. It's free and doesn't need root.
Then maybe try the "how's your battery life thread"....Have a read through and you'll find tonnes of tips and what not.

Thank you for your advice! I will try this app. I would check the thread but so busy with CES and really have no time right now...

You got BBM (Blackberry) installed? That is quite the battery drainer I have noticed on my phone....
3g is the most probable drainer. I can get through a day if I use it a lot.
Install Better Battery Stats, or any other app that can read/detect wakelocks, and find out what is keeping your phone awake.

+1
Better battery stats is my staple, and has a free version on XDA somewhere, but support the developer by buying it if you can!
Wat is the problem with 3g if i May ask.? Is it a known problem with 4.3? Think i'm going to downgrade.

Haven't got bbm installed.

I've been getting the exact same problem with my Xperia t.. Have you managed to find a solution yet?
Yes, downgraded to 4.1 again.

Can anyone help me? Starting yesterday my son's phone started running really hot and the battery had been draining at a rapid rate. The battery info shows Motorola Services using most battery. This has never been the case. Here's a screen shot to show what I'm talking about. Can anyone tell me what to do to resolve this?

Something with Motorola Services is causing a really nasty wakelock. I would suggest clearing the app data/cache for all Moto apps, reboot, and seeing if the wakelock goes away. You can see if there's any gaps in the phone being awakle in the expanded battery settings.
I cleared everything and problem persists. In the last half hour I've lost 28% of my battery. This sucks. I have a feeling I'm going to have to restore everything to defaults

You can try flashing the firmware again (if a flashable 4.4.3 firmware for your device is out.....don't downgrade!!!!....or just try a factory reset first.
You did reboot? That will usually clear stuck apps.
Either above scenario, all your apps and data will be gone.
Are you rooted? If so, backup with titanium backup. If not, you can try helium. I've never used it...but apparently it doesn't need root.
Alternatively.... Try going into the moto apps and turning them off. Or, if rooted....freeze them in titanium backup.
It seems that Android System uses a really high amount of battery, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, or would know how to find out.
My battery lasts around 5 hours anymore, doing the same thing I used to do when it lasted 17+.
Any help would be super appreciated.

Why are you on JB? What setup are you using? Also, a screen shot from Wakelock detector would be appreciated.
I'm rooted stock 4.3. I just didn't really like the update from it, so I went back to 4.3.
I was fine til about a week ago.

More screenshots pl0x.
EDIT: Wakelock detector, and more GSam perspectives would be nice.
There seems to be no out of the ordinary wakelock events, but I will supply a GSam when I can.

I noticed that on 4.3, yeah, the phone radio was the biggest consumer of battery, butconsidering your usage, perhaps screen usage should be greater. Regardless, you're getting 4SOT/23.5SBY which is far better than I'm getting (2.5/14) on KK. lol
If you think about it, if nothing is waking your device, the phone radio is the only thing using power during sleep. So I guess it makes sense.
How about this? Supposing it has to do with the end of charge mechanic of the cpu, but it's worth a check.
Perhaps the battery is just going bad, after a year?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Any other ways I could see what's causing such a drain on the battery? I fear pretty soon keeping it plugged in won't even give it charge enough to stay on.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Or maybe something about this may help figure it out? I put it in Airplane Mode while charging and it didn't seem to make a difference in the rate at which it charged.
Could that possibly narrow down the cause?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
I just picked up the phone and started using it to read my Blinkfeed, and the battery suddenly dropped by a percent or two before it began charging again.
It's acting so strange.

That google play services drain though... Try installing the Amplify module for Xposed.
I supose reflash soft, then freeze google services in tb, and unfreeze omly when they are needed. Maybe it will help

Well that's a bit extreme. You need Google Services for a lot of things, and that app is central to the android experience.
That's not to mention all the FCs he could get.
I find the phone stutters quite a bit too. Like freezes for a few seconds then carries on with what I'm doing.

tbh it's hard to tell. I would say do a TI backup and flash something fresh. If you like JB, I think viper 3.5 is good for you.
You could also try calibrating your battery. I did it, and it seems to have had, at the very least, a slight placebo effect .
