I'm currently running ART right now but was wondering if it's a good idea to go back to dalvik for the update.

Already asked - doesn't matter. ART or Dalvik will be fine..

I clear it out, but it always has over 200 files in it. How do I keep it empty?

You don't when you restart it it resets those files

So it is suppose to have all those all those files? It is so full it is keeping me from downloading apps or updating.

I doubt the dalvik cache is what's causing the problem. What error are you getting when downloading apps?

Error downloading "app name" Insufficient storage available. If I delete out a few things in the Dalvik cache it will download them.
maybe there is an issue with your partitions or permissions
I keep getting that notification every time I reboot. Does anyone know how to find what is causing it? Could it be something in Wanam?

Dude are you boot looping yet? I made a thread about how to wipe dalvik cache. When the is wiped you will see that android is upgrading deal. It's rebuilding the dalvik. Yours is trying to do that too every boot. But only to a few apps I assume. Wipe the dalvik completely so that it goes through it correctly.
As to the cause it has to do with permissions I think. If you have tried the themed system apps make sure permissions are rw_r_r. Or the penwindow manager app is upsetting permissions. I also flashed the su update zip hash code said to use. I flashed it with flashgordon. In the end something is screwing up permissions and it will eventually lead to bootloops

Did you replace any files in your system/app folder? When I replaced the accuweatherphone2013.apk to the no border one I forgot to set the correct permissions and it gave me the android is upgrading on every reboot until I fixed it.

Yeah it could be. Have you enabled zipalign at each boot ?

Update
Deleted the transparent AccuweatherPhone2013.apk and no more upgrade. This had the right permissions too just didn't wanna behave

It was the transparent accuweather widget. I deleted it and then added it back and everything is still good.

So I have a verizon developer edition rooted 4.4 kitkat and bootloader unlocked I try activating ART and it starts the reboot process gets to the verizon splash screen then shuts down am I doing something wrong?
Figured out. The issue was Xposed Module uninstalled and was able to reboot currently optimizing apps
So just don't use Xposed until they update it? Or were you able to reinstall it once you had ART up and running?
You have to update to the latest beta after you activate ART

So you installed it after enabling ART and don't have any issues? Didn't think it was working with ART at all.
Yeah haven't had any issues so far

That because reinstalling Xposed reverts it back to Dalvik lol
Yeah I just noticed it reverts back hopefully they'll have a fix soon

I flashed the CM11 nightly 1206 and everything works fine except ART. I select ART from the dev settings, but after rebooting it stays on dalvik. Do I have to do something first to enable ART correctly?

I know, I just forgot that Xposed isn't compatible with ART
Hey has anyone had any luck with art runtime on 4.4.2? I recently upgraded and I haven't had any luck enabling the run time. It asks to reboot to change the run time but instead it just reboots normally and doesn't change anything. Any ideas?

ART is running great on my GSM DE on 4.4.2. Are you using a deodexed ROM?

Either A. You're running Xposed which forces a boot loop in order for you not to break the system. or B. You're running a deodexed in which of course you're going to need a odexed version.
