[Q][i9001] ROM with exFAT and 720p recording? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Title almost says it all. I'm looking for a ROM with exFAT support for the external SD and the possibility to record (more than 4GB and 1h) in 720p. I've tried the latest CM11, where exFAT is working, but all camera apps I've tried suffer forced closes sooner or later (even in 480p). As this is my first messing around with a custom rom (and only because of this particular usecase) any hints on working configurations are appreciated.

Onecosmics ICS port RC3.1 mass storage problem

As the title says, I have problem with my SGS GT-I9000 with transferring files to it.
Now, from beginning:
-my Pc: windows xp sp3
-my smartphone: SGS GT I9000
Onecosmics ICS port RC3.1 flashed with CWM 5
and with Pauls newest kernel ([Kernel]-GT-i9000_Galaxy_S-4.0.3.257134.zip) also flasheed through CWM
..I found few "bugs" in this port (no Facebook sync possibility, with contacts etc., compass seems to show incorrect position) but the main one and very fundamental is with mass storage mode. When I connect my phone to PC, it prompts me an option to connect my phone as mass storage like it did on Gingerbread 2.3.x ..when I successfully enable it, I can see through all folders and subfolders on my internal sd (16GB) and external sd (microSD 16GB) but when copy/paste for example some folder with a movie in it from my PC to either internal or external SD it shows me very slow download progress and a bit later on my PC error pops up, saying it can´t find specified folder or whatsoever and my phone freezes, so I have to hold power button for 8sec to restart it again.
What is interesting, when I boot my phone in CWM, and mount my SD to PC ..I can easily transfer files (eg. 4.6GB copied in 20min) ...for my external SD, I would have to take her out of my phone and place her into USB adapter to transfer files (and put it back in my phone again). This is very frustrating because I like this port very much, it´s fast and you get all the OC/UV LiveOC control, just perfect ..if I could only fix this.. If anyone can help I would be grateful.
Can anyone help?? please
..also, I found out that I can´t copy files in between internal and external sd card.
If I don´t solve this problem I´m afraid I´ll have to go back to Gingerbread until better and stable version comes out ..and I like ICS so much.

Thank you for your advice but I couldn´t wait and flashed back to gingerbread...until more similar (by some basic functions) version of ICS port comes out I´ll be on "old" GB ...
For example, I can watch movie (size 2.6GB) mkv, avi, mp4 ..where on ICS I can watch only mp4..
..and for mass storage I´ve read somewhere that even original Galaxy Nexus with ICS has some problems connecting with PC
Only thing I´m sorry now is because with ICS I could play FPS game with full graphics .. maybe I need to find some custom or stock (preferable) rom with kernel that supports LiveOC and use of NSTools .. ?

That's weird. I've been using my phone to watch movies a lot lately and it's been working great, subtitles and all (with bsplayer). My movies are .avi too. Gives an error doing it by hardware (think only diceplayer does this properly?) but it automatically changes for software rendering mode and works smoothly, no lags, nothing.
Using TeamICS RC3.1 with their own latest kernel and everything works as supposed to. Also, never had a problem copying from the internal to externalSD or the other way around... it is a bit slow, however, to do it from a computer with the usb cable (around 1mb/s) doesn't matter if it's to the internal or external, but i can live with that. I just remove and connect the card to the computer directly if i'm in a hurry.
However, if you're into GB again, i'd recommend you to try mintberry MIUI. Was the most complete rom i've ever used, used it for quite a while and have NOTHING bad to say about it, quite the opposite. And i use my phone A LOT.

I´ve read somewhere that you have to install galaxy nexus drivers on to your pc??
Is that correct? ..
damn, I don´t know what to do??
I WANT ICS but with this problem it´s hard to keep it on daily usage base...
if there is only a kernel (custom) that you can flash onto your stock gingerbread but that includes things like this:
-Voodoo sound
-Live OC, or at least OC/UV above 1.3GHz that is stable
..and I would be happy with GB.
Same here
I have the same problem, also with Onecosmics ICS port RC3.1.
Kernel 3.08-NEO-3.0-galaxys+telus-257114-g5c75537 (the default)
In my case, if I remove the external SD everything work fine, I can transfer files from mi PC to the internal SD (slow, but this is a Known bug). The problems come when I have the external SD (SanDisk 16Gb class 4) inside the phone.
When I mount the device in the Pc and try to access or copy anything in the internal or external SD it just freezes and I have to turn off the phone. It also freezes while unmounting the SD cards.
The external SD connected with a card reader works Ok in the PC and I can transfer and read files with no problem so I tried coping some pictures and when I placed back the SD card in the phone I could see the picture
copying files between internal and external sd also works fine in my device.
I though It might be that the external SD was broke but after I tried using it with a card reader and works OK I have no clue.
I think I'm going to try install a stock gingerbread and star all over again.

That is solved in RC4 (pulled one) ..but it had some other bugs..
I´ve flashed a couple hours ago Teamhackungs ICS build 15 with Devil kernel v.14.2 ...and so far it´s very good, OCed to 1.4GHz..didn´t found any problems that would bug me..except for sending text messages (I was unable to send SMS) ..and so I´ve instaled GoSMS from market and in settings I wrote customized SMSC number -->problem solved.
-no mass storage transfer files problem (its very fast) ..also you can have mounted external SD too..
-flash in browser works
-I´ve gave up from facebook on my device because it uses up to 60MB of RAM (that´s why I use it in browser)
I started from 0.
First i went back to the stock 2.3.6 version, both external and internal SD works perfect.
After that, i flashed to a new kernel "hardcore's kernel with the ClockworkMod Recovery" following the cyanogenmod wiki
With the CW I installed the RC 4.1.
After that, I still have the same problems. I realised that I have no problem listening music from the external SD or transferring files between internal and external SD with the phone, my problem is always mounting the phone in the PC that crashes after a couple of minutes, no mater if is in Windows, OS X or Linux.
I'm going to install now the RC 4.2 but apparently the SD problems were fixed with an older release so I don't know what else to try.

A question about CM7

I have this good old Nexus One for a long time and it does what it does .
Now I'am looking for something that is still on CM7 but just with the mail/contacts/calendar and the Play Store in it. More is just not necessary, I think.
When I look in the GApps archive for this Android version can I delete files which are not in relation to these services in this archive?
I tried newer roms and there were quite slow so I got back to the CM rom.
And if everything is slimmed, the partitions could be resized, too. So that there is more data storage available.
I partitioned the 8GB SD Card so that mounts2sd (or any other program for that case) can use this space. But as long I don'T use the other androids and stay on 2 that shouldn#t be neccesary. Just my opinion.
After many ROMs (ICS, JB and KK) installed on my N1 I reverted to GB. Now I use the phone in car (I have the original car kit) for GPS and video recording and only GB have the video camera fully functionally. So this is what I use Silverbot2 ROM
Thanks. But there is no feature list in which I can take a peek?
Unfortunately there is no log list... But try last version from 23.10.2013 and you'll see the features.
Can I "Blackrose" it to make more space for the Data partition?
Resize the System and Cache partition maybe?
Yes, I have 240/10 and rest but i think it´s working and 220/8

[Q] NTFS support?

Does custom roms like cm12 etc or kernel like stuxnext have full ntfs support like they are able to read 1tb hard disk or greater without lag out problem. And is there any way to make it work in miui v6 I tried many softwares but they failed

Any Custom ROM with working storage Encryption?

Hi, is there any unofficial ROM, that has real, working encryption of internal (and/or external SD) storage?
I have tested CyanogenMod 12.1 and 13 for some time on my L90 D405n, this ROMs are much better from Stock for me, but they have one huge problem - not working encryption of internal and external storage (SD). I was believing, that it will be fixed in some short period of time, but it was not, and looks like it won't be in the nearest future.
I don't know how it is that, but for me everyday usage of phone without encryption of personal data like photos and other apps with plain text stored passwords is not acceptable.

SD card encryption (honor 4X CHE2-L11, stock EMUI 4.0.3, Android 6.0)

Hello everyone ,
I recently encrypted my phone, using the utility in setting>advanced>security>crypt your phone but realized that the sd card wasn't encrypted and that there was no available option in the default menu.
Adoptable storage would be a solution, but, even though there are some hacks that can enable adoptable storage on the honor 4X (like using Root Essentials), those options aren't 100% working (bugs when displaying available space, ...). So that doesn't look like the best solution. (I saw this post, but I don't see how I could use encryption with this method and am not really comfortable with the idea of flashing a pre-packaged modified kernel, in which I can't see what else might have been changed)
I also experimented with ROMs available for the device (ex : RROS) wich have adoptable storage enabled, but I am not 100% satisfied with those ROMs so I don't want to use them on my every day device (problems with the GPS when no GAPPS, which I'd like to avoid, battery drain, ...).
I know there are apps like EDS lite with which you can create an encrypted container, but I'd like to keep it more convenient and so I'm looking to encrypt the whole sd card and decrypt it at boot time. So basically, the best case scenario would be to have an encrypted SD card, but still be able to do everything I'm used to doing with it (move apps, listen to music, scroll my photo gallery, ...)
I am not strictly speaking looking for adoptable storage, just for a solution to have an encrypted sd card working (actually, a scenario more like where I could make a LUKS EXT4 partiton on my whole card would be awesome, so that you can have your data back when the phone dies). Also, my phone is rooted and, even though I don't really know about the "hidden things" in Android, I'm comfortable enough on Linux, so I don't mind having to use a terminal to achieve my purpose.
If anyone has an idea, that would be awesome, many thanks in advance
