Does custom roms like cm12 etc or kernel like stuxnext have full ntfs support like they are able to read 1tb hard disk or greater without lag out problem. And is there any way to make it work in miui v6 I tried many softwares but they failed

Hi all,
I got my galaxy i9000 (froyo.bujp7 - v2.2 ?, kernel 2.6.32) since three weeks and as I'm exploring its abilities I came to wonder whether it's really missing an ext3 support?
The only reason why I need this file system is because I have a file which is greater than 4 GB in its size (it's a map file for navit). So as FAT32 won't be able to address such large files, I formatted my external SD as ext3 on my PC (Debian Squeece, kernel 2.6.34.1 - preemptive).
I was expecting it to work out of the box, since ext* is a native linux file system.
I browsed the net and all I got was some tutorials for app2sd and such. From what I think I've understood, I need a different ROM that supports ext3, is that correct?
I actually like to use the phone for a while before I start hacking its guts. But in case I really have to go through this, can anyone give me a hint where to start?
Thanks in advance.

Many of the custom kernels here have support for ext4 included as part of their lagfix schemes, e.g hardcores or voodoo kernels. Unfortunately, as far as i know the sd cards are always mounted with vfat instead of autodetect so you might have to manualy set that in the corresponding mount file.
Hope that helps.

Hi!
I bought a OTG cable from China for some time ago. Quickly I discovered that the Note did not support NTFS file system...
Yesterday I updated to ICS and also rooted the phone. I then found some apps on the market that said they could mount NTFS devices, I tried many apps but it still did not work. All the forum posts says that I have to flash the kernel to get it to work...
Is there some way to get NTFS support and be able to read NTFS hard drives without flashing the kernel?
Thanks

It does work. I could read NTFS-USB via OTG in RocketRom v6, but after flashing to v7 I have problems with it.
Hello, if you have a ROM and are going to support OTG, and NTFS, check out this post:

I was getting extremely frustrating when nothing that I tried worked to get my external NTFS hard drive mounted read-write. It would only mount read-only. I even tried the only rom I found that said it supported OTG, and ntfs, but that too only let me mount r/o. I even tried Stickmount from google play. And another rom there too for good measure, but none of it worked.
So I stumbled upon this, and in less than a minute, I solved the problem I was trying to fix for hours today.
It would be great if devs could integrate this into their roms so people wouldn't have to mess with it, but whatever.
Also if you aren't a dev and you just want to plug in your NTFS drive and be able to read AND write, check out the app he wrote: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588940
You won't regret it!
Hi, haven't had a need to root yet, but am considering doing so to use an external NTFS-formatted drive over OTG. I was wondering if anyone has tested this with the One yet. The Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+ app needs root, so if anyone is rooted and wouldn't mind testing this app with an NTFS-formated drive on the One, that would be a lot of help.
Thanks.
NTFS support has to be enabled via a custom kernel as far as I'm aware. There are kernels available for the One that do so. Note that Sense will not detect the drive even with NTFS support enabled, so you'll have to use a drive mounting app on the Play store.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Title almost says it all. I'm looking for a ROM with exFAT support for the external SD and the possibility to record (more than 4GB and 1h) in 720p. I've tried the latest CM11, where exFAT is working, but all camera apps I've tried suffer forced closes sooner or later (even in 480p). As this is my first messing around with a custom rom (and only because of this particular usecase) any hints on working configurations are appreciated.
