I just hit the restart button and it won't turn back on. Took out the battery/s-pen/sd card/sim for a while and nothing. Not rooted or have been. Can't access any type of recovery or download mode. When ever i try to charge the phone there is no notification that the battery is charging. It died on me around 90ish percent.
Any idea whats wrong?

Have you tried booting without the SD card installed?

Sounds crazy. But in my experience when that happens. Sometimes it can be a bad battery (go to a place and test a new battery) If it powers on, try making sure the device charges. If it does not, then it is definitely dead. Worth a shot thats for sure. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I as well had a bad brand new in the box Note 3. And let me tell you I have had my fair share of phones. It was the first time in my life I had a DOA on a cell phone. Basically I had touch issues. And would start freezing and flipping out without me doing anything. I hope it gets resolved for you.
PS - Wanted to add if you got your device within 14 days. Demand they replace it with your carrier. If for some stupid reason they do not budge. You do have a warranty. And Samsung should be able to check the device out if it was a DOA. IE If they open it up and see not foul play (Water Damage, physical damage etc) You should be ok.
Best of luck.
I have no idea what happened to my phone. After pulling the battery and trying constantly for over an hour. It just turned on. I hope I never have to deal with that again. My two week return period is coming up soon. Thanks for the help guys. Cheers.
Edit: nevermind it just shut back off and doing it again. Taking it back to at&t.

Mine did this just now. Reproduced by using Samsung link to transfer movies from my pc to the sd card on my note 3. Odd to say the least

Just got back from att. They replaced the phone no problem. Was within my two week return. Hopefully I do not encounter this problem again . Next time i will have to send it to Samsung for repair. That will take a month on its own.
Since I got Xperia T updated to Android 4.3 I have been through problems. The problem now is that the phone can't be charged when it is turned off and I got my battery completely drained resulting in a dead phone that can't either get charged or turn on, only blinking red LED when power button is pressed. I have tried many methods like putting it on charge over night and even 24 hours, putting the tape on power button while charging (it turns on though but as soon as it pass the boot animation the battery looses its charge and it turn itself off and this keeps happening). Now I'm really wondering if someone here had faced such problem and was able to work it out so please share what you did.
I opened the phone, taking away the screw that you see when you open the Sim card and the memory card cover, unplugged the battery for about one minute then plugged it in again, and put back the screw, then charged. When it works, consider changing the firmware, for me I went back to 4.1
It is working great now.

thanks for the reply but isn't there any other way that requires no disassembly ?
Hey guys,
Today I was using my phone normally and suddenlly my phone stopped working, so I removed the battery and re-added it, then i found my phone acting up normal, just when i added the battery it opens "Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-s5570I), then it powers off. I can't even get to the recovery nor the bootloader.
I need quick help please
After some hours i got 4 sutiuations happening:
1)What i stated ubove.
2)Boots normally.
3)Phone randomly restarts.
4)Phone suddenly powers off
Is that a battery problem or what.
Note: Now I'm using my phone without SIM card nor SD card and working fine till now.
Edit: Nothing changed when i removed the SIM card and SD card.
Yes this is because of your battery
Maybe battery leackage
Or battery gets loosed
It is good you buy a battery for your battery for your phone

Hello!
A little bit after I upgraded my micro-SD card, I started getting the message "unable to charge your device. make sure you are using a samsung-compatible battery and charger..." while using an OEM battery and charger. I haven't been able to charge my phone at all and have since tried another battery, wiping my phone, and of course trying other chargers. Anybody know what is going on? Thank you for your help!
Did you try removing your SD card? Sounds like that may be the culprit... Although odd.

Before I noticed the battery wasn't charging, my phone started rebooting itself randomly and getting quite hot. Suspecting that it may be a corrupt SD card, I tried formatting it, replacing it, and removing it altogether. I'm waiting for a standalone charger to be delivered so I can get the battery level up but do you think maybe restoring with Kies could help?
Thank you!
You could try, but I don't think it will matter. About 2 months ago I was having a similar issue, phone was giving me the same error message. I think it happened after my battery went completely dead. I kept trying to charge it, and finally it charged. No issues since.

Ok, so I managed to charge the battery using a standalone charger and reflashed the phone back to stock using Samsung SmartSwitch. The phone charges intermittently but also reboots randomly...I have no idea what is going on.
Battery overheated message even it feels cool in hand
Have these strange issues:
Trying to charge my phone and I got this from the bottom screenshots.
I'm on stock 5.0.1. firmware, no root, one month old phone.
I tried everything including software reset / write firmware from ODIN, other battery, same results.
My last thought is send the phone to warranty
Even the messages worn me about battery overheated , touching with the hand I don't feel any heat.
Any idea? Thanks!
I have that issue right now. It looks like my phone got wet during Halloween and I tried to charge it. It got hot and I left overnight. In the morning it started giving me these messages. Batteries charge fine in wall chargers, but not in the phone itself. Even wireless charging produces the same message.

I pulled my case off and moved my battery around while plugged in since doing the same with the usb did nothing. I noticed it would switch from charging to the error message saying it could not charge. I then pulled the contacts out a little bit cause they were not all the same distance out. Put battery in phone and it charges.
I had this issue, which is quit disturbing... i have a trick to get it right as it worked for me... might work for you guys as well... Take your battery out and press power button for 30 sec min... Take a perfume... or siprit... pour it or spray it inside the charging port and let it dry... As it dries up you will not face the issue again... hope it helps... its the dust inside that creates problems.
Pouring anything into the charging port is probably the worst idea I have ever heard. How about first checking that the charger port connections are dirty or corroded. If it is turn the phone off before trying to clean it out. Circuit board cleaner is around 3 to 7 bucks a can and you get the version with zero residue. Or try a stick pin to gently clean it out? I've replaced a charger port on a note 3 and it was a piece of cake. I imagine the note 4 can't be too difficult.

I've had problems liken this before... from a dying battery. It is VERY frustrating. It first happened on my HTC Sensation, and it took months to figure it out. Buying a new battery has fixed charging issues, phone random reboots, phone dying even though 15 to 30% remaining, and bootloops. These were issues that have popped-up with many different phones, over the years - luckily I only buy phones with replaceable batteries - but my main and back-up batteries both went bad, this year! (BTW, it's easy to tell it's the battery when the issue only happens on one battery, and not on the other)
I recommend you buy OEM Samsung batteries on Amazon or eBay. If you use NFC, MAKE SURE your battery supports NFC - the cheapest ones don't.
Got the same issue.. My phone suddenly stopped charging and when i try to plug it again the charging icon wont show.. I left it charging again for 30min and had no luck.. then i saw this thread and got the idea..
I removed the battery, micro-sd card, stylus, phone sim and press the power button for 30 sec. (this will reset all energy stuck on the internal board.)
Then, I cleaned the usb port with a sticky note.. folded the sticky part just as it fits on the port and gently swipe it to get out the dust.. The dust makes a disturbing connection between the USB cable so it wont continue charging..
Returned the battery and all items then tried charging again. And it worked!! :victory:
Worth the try.. Good luck!
Got mine working by pulling micro usb half way out and back couple times
Before that i tried to clean port and 30s power button without battery but no changes.
Maybe dust still or something software glitch. Like day or two before installed Battery Charge Limit app and used gear vr. It gave some sort charge message and not even charging. Not sure does this nothing to do with the problem..
Update: Problem returned after battery change and after that i put some wd40/cleaned battery connectors and working again. Hopefully last..
Hi all,
After years of reliable service, I decided to root my Xperia Z1 to be able to drop apps onto the SD card to create some more space.
This was working fine for a week, but yesterday I was in the forest using a GPS app called My Tracks which I'd moved to the SD card. My phone turned off once, Then a second time and wouldn't reboot until I plugged it into the charger, which I might be wrong, but I think the phone wasn't happy using the app from the sd card.
The battery was still at 83%. It charged back up to 100%. It turned off again and would only turn on again once plugged into the charger.
Phone was okay on the charger, then someone rang me so I unplugged it and it died instantly.
After that it's been dead with the red light flashing on the charger and the usb cable.
None of the recovery options work, and I even have the back removed now with endless failed attempts at disconnecting battery and using the testpoint and paperclip to try and get various computer software to see it. It's unresponsive.
Ideally I wanted to get some notes off it which are saved in the simple Notes app on the phone. Everything else was saved to the sd card. If anyone knows how to recover those from a dead phone it'd be great, but I don't think it's possible.
So my main question is. If I buy a cheap donor Z1 off ebay which is fine except a smashed digitising screen etc... Can I basically do a straight swap with the motherboard and/or battery (being a bit hopeful it's only the battery) and my phone will work again? Albeit with whatever is on the new mother board?
I've never replaced internal hardware on phones so I don't know if I need to do anything extra.
