I just got my m7 back from a crack screen repair.
As you can see on the picture, it looks absolutely crap.
It looks like they used a screw driver to take it a part and the big chip they broke of over the volume control, (which they try to glue back on) looks like a brick layer could have done a better job.
and seems like the repair guy left his keys, a screwdriver and a few pebbles inside the speaker cause it makes a horrible noise when turn to full volume.
I was just wondering if that is normal practice, and have anybody actually got a decent phone back from repair.
Doesn't any repair shop use the secret htc one repair tool.?
hmm, where did my picture go.?

well horror stories about repair centers are not a new thing. In general they are doing a good job but s*** happens. If they damaged the phone then send it back.
btw no pictures posted
Good luck
Sorry i think my pictures is with this post.
Sorry for making "double"post.
Well... It is definitely not a normal practice. Unfortunately it happens more often then it should. I cannot comment other brands' repair centres but many of my friends have complained about the quality of htc repairs. I personally sent mine in due to the purple tint issue with the camera. It came back with a gap between the volume rocker and the screen. Since then I changed the volume rocker to a brand new one, the gap is still there, the button cannot be placed back properly... I also just realized under the screen there is a small dust that is not too visible but still bothering me. HTC should really look into their repair centres and the quality of works done there...

and a brand new back housing cost like 15$, dont know why they didn't replaced it. Where is that service center? is it an official htc repair center? send it back, this is unacceptable.
Sounds to me like u sent it to a 3rd party repair center. I sent mine to HTC for the purple camera replacement and came back the way I sent it except they reapplied the beats logo lol. Wish they would of replaced the screen since I have 1 dead pixel but I'm not surprised they didn't see it since i don't even see it XD.

Hello Mate. Sorry for bothering you at this point, as this thread was started long ago. Did your display have scratches after the repair ? How did they do a perfect job of not at all damaging the plastic sides during the repair ? May be they replaced the entire housing after the repair, by the fact your point mentioned "they re-applied the Beats Audio logo on it" . Please fell free to answer me. Thanks in advance :good:

Hi mate
I sent it back 3 times.
It took them 3 tries to fix the problems they had made to begin with.
I just got it back yesterday it sounds like the speaker works, but now I have notice that the camera shows a really bad purple tint in low light, which was not there before.
But I just updated to 4.4.3 so i don't know if it's the update or the jackass that repair my phone.!!

Well. I just insisted the service guys to replace the rear housing with a new one. Just give it a shot, If you ever send in yours again for a fourth repair. Mine underwent two bypass and finally works as expected, except a few blemishes here and there. They damaged the top and bottom speaker grills a bit. Pathetic service !

On my white Vivid, the volume and power buttons chrome are compelely worn out and its copper color, and the back battery plate is starting to chip its paint as well. Im kinda picky and things like this kinda bug me (expecially how the buttons clash with the rest of the white body)
Has anyone tried anything to remedy this or restore it? Painting it perhaps? I would like anyone who has done something about this to share how they touched up the worn parts (besides using a case)
I remember there was a thread a few months back about this issue. I don't remember a resolution coming up other than the case. I wonder if you could buy replacement buttons, not sure about painting. Seems like you would have to take it apart to do it since if any got in to the crevices it could mess up your phone.

Im referring to that matte coating that it has on. I have chromed a mytouch 4G before. How is it working out for you? Because when I did it to the mytouch it looked great but the chrome smugdes very easily and was hard to clean, does the vivid plate smudge the same way?

Do it!! Also heads up to everyone HTC will send you a new batterydoor free if you "lose" it. My friend just got a new door after his was dented badly.
Just finished working on my battery plate. What I did was spray it with Tylex, and lightly sand/buff with the tougher side of a sponge, the coating came off so easily and now I have a brushed metal look, im very pleased!!! Uploaded a pic. Now if there was some way i can make the power/vol buttons not clash with the copper color...
Btw, in real life it looks much better, obviously the flash will make the textures pop out more

Thnx for the tips. Interesting point about the fingernail paint, could this work on the vol buttons? I could cover the edges and apply a small coat to cover up the copper color, either silver or white. Question is, would this last without easily chipping?

If u feel that way the be our guest and get you a iPhone ..imo iPhones suck too
I have had all version of the iphone since 2007. even back then the build quality is better. All I'm saying is something as simple as paint on a part should not flake off so quickly and now I'm stuck with copper buttons with no idea how to fix or repair it. So instead of coming on here and telling me to buy a new phone how about laying an idea to fix the issue..
btw: to others with this issue I have posted on HTCs website.. but I'm sure they will work on it like fixing the voice dialer option.. haha

My assembly skills suck..60 bucks and a chance to completely destroy the phone..hahah . I need to call AT&T and see if they or HTC will do warranty work on it. there is too much of a tight tolerance to try to chrome it and then clear coat it. Ill never be able to push the buttons in.. haha
Well I finally caved in.. I called HTC and asked them if there was a way to fix it myself and they basically told me no. The phone still has its 1 year warranty and they explained the process to me.. They only have one repair center in ALL of America..haha (Texas). So when you call and talk to them they will give you an RMA number. take out your batt, sim, case and send it to them.
They were easy to get a hold of and it was pretty quick to get things set up. It will be hard to not have a smart phone for 2 weeks but I had a back up pos. Since my back up phone was not a smart phone I went to an ATT store and they did it for me but told me I would "Lose" my unlimited plan because that phone didnt support it. The manager told me he will contact the right people to get it back.. then told me for 10 bucks a month(insurance) I could just get a new phone.. I told him I'm already paying 160/mo for 3 phones..haha
Anyways, the moral of the story is, if you are having this issue send it in now before your warranty is gone or live with copper color buttons.

Hi all,
i just get back my p880 after replacement screen since the dust under the screen, but guess what?
It happened again just for 1 week.
i did write a email for them.
Hi,
I wanna make a complain on your flagship product !
last week(roughly Nov 27) i did collect a unit P880 after screen replacement due to dust under the screen. However after 1 week, it still happen again !
This is a quality issue on this unit! and i am not the only 1, my girlfriend also having same problem from day 1, and mine too.
Before sent in , i did ask your staff! your staff say no, this isnt quality issue, so far i am the only 1. i take it at that time.
But when i get back my phone, and this happened again in just 1 week !
And i did research ! i am not the only 1.

Too bad, i dont have a pro camera right now. and also hard to capture by camera.
and i believe those p880 with this issue will be more dust after certain usage.
just 1 week, there are 2 medium dot under screen. from my exp last times, about 1-2 month, there lots of dust and big 1.
really make me so sad. what a product with this stupid issue!
i have the same issue too but its really slight. the dust are hardly seen under normal usage and only when the screen is off and im looking for it.
not something very irritating but yea, it shouldn't be there. btw my Optimus One had this problem too but it was really a thick dense line of dust from the bottom left corner of the screen.

i know where is it, and send before. i post here that because i believe it will happen again after second service.
previously i emailed, they said sent to their service center.
in the service center i asked, and they said no this quality issue on other p880. what i feel is nonsense, just other people lazy go for it.
And purposely go there for same problem, i am quite unhappy, because wasting my time to go and back.
And they just replace the window glass, i dont think can fix permanently, since this is a common issue for most people, wasnt?
Hello I have the same issue, in my P880 I saw specs of dust two days after of purchase, now 2 months later I have many specs, some are very annoying at sunlight. Sadly in my Country I do not have technical support from LG.

How i' fixed one dust dot.
Hello
Today i noticed white dust point between my screen and glass of phone... and.. i was pissed off!!! because phone is one month old!
Tried to calmdown ... but every time when i looked on the screen i saw nothing but that white dot...
So... i don't take any responsibility for this "tutorial" on damaging your glass or screen or phone...
So... turn off you phone ... using your pointing finger make speed hard taps on dust area with little bit bending of whole phone.
With this method i managed to move dust point from middle of screen to bottom edge of screen... and with more bending and taping on edhe area
dust spot is disappeared. (it took me 2 minutes of tapping)
I konw it sounds crazy but it worked and i'm happy again

You ruined my idea of build nano-vacuum cleaners for that!!!
Isn't this problem partly due to the fact that there's a large gap between the display and touchscreen itself?

Haha I know its not that big, but viewing form certain angles it def look much worse than the photo I posted. On top of that, the dead/stuck pixel isnt helping, i think i just got a lemon. So looks like its gonna get exchanged
Mines has a few of those stuck pixels. It is already under RMA cross shipment, waiting for replacement to send it back. I would sent it back 20 times if I have to till I get a perfect one (I doubt this is even possible with at least the current batch of phones). HTC has a horrible quality control. Mines also has rough cutout around the headphone jack and the top left corner bezel sticks out a tiny bit.

Order 5 of them at once, compare them for quality then send back the remaining ones or sell them on ebay , you are going to get it all back eitherway

I have light passing thought, not like a beam..... but more of a visible gap to the right of the home button.
Its only visible in dark, naturally because the hardware buttons dont come on in the day. But its there.
Id take that one back or see if you can RMA it because that defective for sure.
Update...Exchanged the phone without any hassles, the new does not seem to have have any issues so far, hopefully stays that way
Hi guys!
I just got my HTC one about a month ago, recently I found that there's a weird vibrate sound every time I put my phone on a hard surface "gently". It sounds like there's something loose inside the phone. So I tried tapping the upper part of the back plate on my palm and I heard that sound every time I did it. But when I tried it with the bottom part of the back plate, it just sounded like a solid piece of metal. I always baby my phones, this phone has never been dropped, smacked or anything. The weird thing is that I asked my friend who has an HTC one to test it and he told me his had that weird sound too. I'm just wondering if this is normal? Or it's just me and my friend are so unlucky. The sound really makes my phone like a piece of junk that's gonna fall apart soon. Could some HTC one owners try what I did and see if yous have the same issue please?
I'm gonna contact my carrier Rogers tomorrow but I have a really bad feeling about this. I don't wanna have my phone sent for repair because it's only 1 month old and I don't want a refurbished one either. God, tomorrow is the 30th day since I got this phone. I guess I better do something soon. Has anyone had any return/exchange/repair phone experience with Rogers?
sorry about my poor English cuz it's not my first language.
thank you so much guys!!
Mine clicks a little too. Probably just the flash touching the housing or something similar. Wouldn't worry about it as long as everything works.

Yup. Since the phone has optical image stabilizer, it will surely have movable parts in the camera module, this is normal. Same is true for Canon lenses with IS.
Hello.
I made another topic regarding my non-functional Sony Xperia Z1 C903. I decided to take it apart even more, to see if there were any connectors loose. I didn't find anything, so the next step was to check the motherboard.
I noticed when I first removed the back of the phone, that one of the screws on the motherboard was rusty. When I took the motherboard out, and removed the "covers", I saw that one part of the motherboard was completely covered in rust. I think this is the reason why my phone stopped working, as nothing works and the battery seems to be OK. Can this be true? Can someone with some more knowledge about motherboards confirm? Thanks.
See the pictures below (attachments).
What do you think?
Hi again!
I don't have much knowledge with motherboards but I can tell that water obviously entered from the SIM card tray to the insides of the phone.
You can see that red colour from the water indicator on the metal shield of the SIM card tray.

Heye! Is it only you and me active on this forum?
I have no clue how the water went inside from the sim card tray, but obviously it has somehow gotten inside the phone... I'm sure that is why the phone doesn't start.
I will put the motherboard in some alcohol, and brush any rust off and try to run it again when it is dry...
I will give you guys an update

No we're not the only ones active but people who don't/didn't have this problem don't really have much to say... y'kno!
And don't forget that Z1 is getting old and people buying new stuff so visitors are decreasing.. You should've seen the forum when the Z1 was released! It was so full.
I'll see if my motherboard had any signs of anything.. Although I've already checked but that was months ago...

My motherboard doesn't seem to have any damage... Unfortunately I couldn't get some nice pictures with this temporary Nokia X2
I'll try to get some nice pictures and post them here
Edit: that's the best I could do.

Seems you are not as lucky as I am...
My phone is now back to life! Cleaning the motherboard worked like a charm!

Check your motherboard as well, maybe you have some water in your as well? I mean, I don't even have a clue when water entered my phone... But yea.
Phone still works great. I have added the cameras and so on, and it seems to be working just great. However, I noticed that the LED flashlight is miscolored. The reason is probably a cemical reaction when I was using alcohol to remove the dust....
Thinking of a way to get it back to white again... But can't figure anything out. Can you help? Haha. The pictures look very funny, everything turns blue haha. Good thing I live in a country with almost only sun.. Not much need for the flashlight.

There is a solution but it will need soldering.... very very small part.... which is the flash.
The flash is located above the little square that you cleaned. Buy a new one, and solder it!
Next time bro put the motherboard in a cup of rice and let it inside for one day the rice eliminate the moisture!!!

I used a hair dryer instead, to make sure that it was completely dry. But yea, I know, I could have been waiting a bit more.. On the other hand, moisture wasn't the problem here. It was rust.
