when I got this phone It was quite new and being the first water proof and dust proof phone
today I seen oppo, one plus one which seems like can kill this phone anything with their powerful specs but the most secret of it is CyanogenMod I would honestly keep this phone till it dies on me..

how about you all ?
I will support it till my contract expires at may 2014 and then I will probably buy a Z4
my Z is one year and two months old now

Please note that the phone is water/dust resistant, not proof
I really don't give a damn about specs these days, what can newer phones do that the XZ can't?
I really can't find anything.
my Z i got june last year! some of the rubber seals have started to wear and the screen is a bit scratch but all in all a good solid phone...no major issues apart from firmware/software related

yeah i say "issues" very loosely !
i mean just the phone getting laggy as it fills up with apps etc... i like to have my phone running optimumly so im fussy like that haha
amazing phone though! really cant fault it
I will support it, till my XZ is ready to die but that time is very long ^^
Send from my XZ With My Own Personal Modified MoonWalker SuperB !
I will stay support that XZ!
XDA developers wont let it die

sony is jst annoyng us... Why put us in 2nd raft.. When both z n zl has same zr hardware ... Makes no sense... If sony ditches zr .. Thats it i wont b buyn any sony phones ever.. Been loyal to sony for 9 yrs ..
about to buy ZR but when i read this news, i changed my mind. i am considering other phones.
I hope Sony only "forgot" to mention ZR as well. No way they can ditch OS upgrades in less than 6 months old product. December is announced for 4.3 so early next year I'm expecting to see OTA 4.4 update on my ZR.
I think it's the marketing trick only due to new Z1 mini which is newer, more expensive and that's where Sony would like primary to gain profit instead of cheaper ZR which is a fantastic phone and fantastically unbelievable underrated.
Anyways, it's currently top selling (Android) mobile device in Japan, around 7% of whole market new sales, ahead of S4, S3, htc. So, no reason to abandon it so early.

We will get 4.4. For sure.. Don't worry ^^ The problem will be that we need to wait abit longer thats all

I took my first xperia z out on a 2 year plan about 6 months ago that i rooted straight up and added a sound mod to, I didnt have one problem with the phone, i loved it! until i got some critical error saying process system is not responding a few weeks ago and a bootloop that was undoable.
So i sent the phone off for repair and they said it was dead and gave me a new one, i decided to keep this one stock just incase the root messed it up, after a week the new phone died again, it would freeze after say 1.3 minutes after boot and really struggle to actually boot up at all sometimes, so i have now sent this off again.
Im now waiting on my 3rd xperia z to come through and have been told if this one breaks then i can have a different phone! :good:
Im just wondering are sony devices just awful? the xperia z is the first i have owned and i am not impressed at all, or is there some sort of software bug in the latest update?
Im just wondering if anyone else has had this much trouble or do i just have bad luck? :silly:

maybe you had pitch. it sounds weird but it can be
I think a friend changed his phone(not xperia) also 3 times and it wasn't every time his fault ^^
But I don't have one problem. All works perfect, it's very smooth. Only battery time is a bit bad. But that isn't a big problem for me.
Hello.
I have a problem. I want to buy the Z1 but I don’t know if I should.
I already bought the Z1 in November. I was setting it up for about 3 days and then my house was robbed and the phone was stolen. I even not had the chance to use it as a phone…
The insurance company is going to cover the stolen Z1.
In the meanwhile I see all over the internet Z1 yellow washed self-cracked screens, asf that cannot be removed because of warranty and it scratch really bad. Problems with overeating, touch screen sensibility, wifi, etc.
So, was this sad episode some kind of divine intervention or it’s a reasonable choice to buy it again?
I liked the Z1, despite of the internal features, because of the glass and aluminum look. I’m looking also to Samsung s4 and note 3 but they look to plastic for top phones. I like HTC One but only in black which is very hard to find. The 5S is also in my mind. I can discard a large display if the device is ergonomic and pocket jeans friendly.
I need to buy a new phone because my WM HTC HD2 is becoming serious outdated. But for a phone with 4 years of daily use it doesn’t have any scratches in the display or in the back. This guy is tough and never failed me.
Long story short I just don’t want to give a lot of money for a piece of sh… top phone! I just want a phone for the next 4 years.
Thank you all !

I'm an owner of an Xperia Z1 and I must say it is a beutifully designed phone and a superior camera... But then a major problem that I have with it is that touchscreen does NOT work properly. I think you should wait until the 4.3 update comes and see whether the problem is fixed. But I doubt that this is a software problem so better not buy it till the 4.3 update comes and we'll see whether it fixes the problem. Stay tuned to Z1 XDA so you can be sure.
If you even think that Z1 is a piece of sh... top phone, then don't buy it.

He merely stated he is having second thoughts he never said it is a piece of sh*. I feel the same the way I am in the market for a new top end smartphone and I really like the design/features of the Z1 but if you go into the Sony Forums or any other it just seems most users are unhappy and having lots of issues. I understand every smartphone has its own problems but from what I have been reading Sony does not want to acknowledge or fix possible hardware issues that users are facing. This is a very expensive phone and you would expect top notch quality along with service. I will be waiting another month to see what happens before I make my decision.

I would buy it again(again my only problem is a yellow hue on white backgrounds)
Or to be more precise some white backgrounds look yellowish wheb compared to other phones(Z ultra, Z or iphone 5)

I would also buy it again.
I must also say that at this moment, i do not have any of the problems stated on this forum (yellow tint, touch screen problem, wi-fi problem).
The major problem that all the z1 users have, is the camera not working with an unlocked bootloader.
But i would still buy it again

My Z1 is on it's way to Sony repair right now because of the touchscreen issue but if I knew that this particular problem could be fixed (or that it occurs just in a certain batch) I would in every circumstance buy the Z1 over any other phone on the market right now.
You'll see people *****ing about every little nitpicky thing in every forum of every device on this website. My Z1 is fine.

I personally have been pretty lucky, not 1 single issue, screen reaponse is very good, none of the reprted screen issues and im pretty happy with the camera, its the best ive ever used and it meets all my needs and more. I will admit im not too happy about this unlocking the bootloader breaking the camera though, im a bit of a flashaholic but overall im very happy with this device

Same here with me, not one problem with mine. I don't do rooting or any of that because I'm still learning but when I checked my phone had boot loader unlocked "yes" so I guess I was lucky with that.
I tend to buy phones and sell them on when I get bored with them but I think I'll be keeping the Z1 for a long time. Funny thing is is that I didn't like the Z I had at all.
I also have a Nokia 925 that I love. I have had both the Z1 and 925 since launch and they are both keepers. I have also had a note 2, S4, note 3 and Nokia 1020 this year but sold them all except for the 1020 which I gave to my wife.

Very well said, what I think is that Z1 is an excellent device provided that the unit you get is problem free. It's just a matter of hit or miss for a good device. As a Z1 owner (with the touch problem) yeah it's really annoying if you have this and store refuses to acknowledge the problem and worn't replace the unit. Only hope is that the 4.3 update will fix the problem.
Back to the topic, if you think that your z1 being stolen is a divine intervention to not get the z1 again, it's really up to you. It's a great device with a future proof hardware so if you really want it then get it. Just examine the unit carefully, list down the problems that you have read in the forums and how to check them so that you won't be one of the frustrated users who had problems in their units. I wish you luck mate. :good:

What he said is probably the best advice you can get right now. If working it's an excellent device and whatever you decide, do not order it online.
I'm another one just really happy with the phone. I'm on iHacker 1.2 and combined with Greenify it's runs forever. I mean 3days on Battery, just more than fine. If I would buy it again? Absolutely. Is there really an alternative? LG G2, S4, Note 3 are just plastic wrecks to me. And HTC with this ridiculous S-OFF rubbish, thanks I prefer to wait for a bootloader solution which will come for sure very soon.

Someone said there is a International warranty of 1 year on the device if you have a receipt. I am in the same situation, I do not buy the phone online, I pickup the phone in a small store but in different country in europe. Now if I have to go via warranty I don't know where I have to go.
I've seen plenty of threads on this forum and the Sony official forums, about Xperia Z screens "spontaneously" cracking (i.e. not after any sort of obvious trauma). I've seen one or two cracked-screen posts here on the Z1 forums, and a few that ominously predict that the Z1 will be "just as bad" over time.
Is this true? Are there a few loud outliers with bad luck, getting bad phones and getting screwed by customer service? Or is this really an epidemic, and a good reason to avoid buying the Z1?
At this point I'm probably down to the HTC One versus the Xperia Z1, and I've never heard of any durability issues with the HTC One. I'd really hate to spend tons of money on the Z1 then regret it a week later when my screen is in tiny pieces....
It's the reason I have a Z1, my old Z just cracked out of the blue whilst on the dash of a work van, it wasn't particularly sunny or hot, just cracked, the crack grew and eventually the screen stopped working completely.
Mine fell on the floor naked twice and no cracks... Pretty solid, I have a tpu case now to not test it again

After listening to an aria at the opera maybe? lol
Tempered glass/windows may have crack issues when thermal stressed. But I doubt smartphone glasses are affected by this problem.

Did you get it replaced under warranty, or did you have to pay out of pocket? I'm buying off-contract here (hooray for European pay-as-you-go pricing!) so it's a pretty big deal if I shell out over €400 for a phone then have to just throw it away (or pay big bucks for a new screen) in a few weeks or months.

I basically made enough fuss at my network they agreed to upgrade my contract early (after only 11 months rather than 18 which is the norm over here)
I wouldn't even consider paying for a new handset, and I never do. I put up with using a Blackberry 9810 (not a bad phone actually) for a month while me and my network 'negotiated' which ended up with me telling them if they didn't help me get a phone for the minimal cost I'd stop paying the direct debit bills and let them eventually take me to court, where I'd call them up on breaching my contract on their end.
They chickened out of that, gave in and handed over the Z1. I should point out most networks won't be that forgiving, I've been having persistent trouble with them for 11 months! No signal at my home address, frequently taking more out of my direct debit than they should have been, texts not sending and receiving properly, selling me two defective Blackberry 9320s when my XZ screen broke (I got the 9810 off a friend), changing my price plan without my authorisation and generally messing me around. When I finally spoke to a manager, he was sympathetic.
Has anyone been using xperia sp since an year or so? I want to see the lifespan/lifetime of Illumination bar of SP as they are leds so I guess eventually they will die out.. Has anyone had that problem with SP? If so then how long was it since day of purchase (approx)?
IMO the phone will have it's death before the LEDs!!
Have been using them for almost one and a half year without any hiccups:good:
I think you have more chance of breaking the phone in a fit of rage than the LED's dying of old age.
Its a relief to know :highfive:
I plan on using my beloved SP for at least 2 more years and I don't think the cell will ever break because I dropped it from approx 8 feet and all I got were scratches I am assuming that was because people stepped on it
Anyway thank you both :good:

Yeah well here in Pakistan we do not have contract system so we have to pay full price if we want new cell also I bought SP 6 months ago and it was (still is, one of) my dream phone can't say I like the support very much (I had HTC Explorer before this and it was released with 2.3.5, now has 5.0.2 unofficially and I used that for 2 years too) but it is better than many devices thanks to few awesome devs out there.
