Red light blinking, phone won;t charge - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I went for a screen replacement today. Removing the back housing was relatively easy and I was seeing the insides of my phone in less than 20min.
Carefully removed the motherboard and the daughterboard and installed a NEW battery on the new LCD frame. Starting putting things back where they were before without installing the back housing. Phone turns one, boots fine into OS but it gets HOT in no time. The red light starts blinking immediately and the phone won;t charge.
So my questions are the following:
DId I do something wrong? Some grounding missing? Maybe the new battery requires calibration? Faulty battery?
Thanks in advance guys.

Your battery is overheating while charging, that's why the red light blinks. You probably connected something the wrong way

I installed the old battery and it is fine. When I try the new again I get overheating. Gsam reports a temperature of -20℃ which is not normal at all.
The thing is that I destroyed the LCD flex so I m back with my old LCD and my old battery. :/

Problem with startup 6515 - need advice

Chaps
Yesterday my 6515 stopped cooperate with me! Totally!
- I didn't dropped him or physically damaged,
- The battery was charged in 85% just before it was switched off itself
- Back cover closed with no gaps between cover and body
- Was fully functional when suddenly switched off
- I didn't upgraded anythihng before.
Symptoms:
- Ipaq is not reacting on start button
- Not reacting on reset
- Not reacting on hard reset
- The left diode blinking red during charging via usb cradle when I’m pressing power up button
- The same happens with regular charger
- During charging with regular charger when I’m opening the back panel the diode stop blink and become flash continuously in red.
I have already tried almost everything to start it up:
Changed the battery,
Open, close the back battery panel
With and without SD card
Appreciate any HELP!
small update
Ok I have made some progress..
Now I can see the bootloader screen and that's it.
What to do next ???
Im not sure what blinking red means but when you remove the backcover, the red led will lite up.
Try to do a hard reset, and see if it restarts without going to bootloader. Otherwise, you will probably need to upgrade the firmware from the bootloader screen. Download the latest rom updates from hp.

Thanks for reply
Indeed! When I opened back cover the led become flash continuously!
I have tried to apply the rom update from HP unfortunately all of the updates have to be done through Active sync!
It is impossible in current situation because of pressing Power+Joystick+Reset the ootloader screen appear but then nothing This is happens only when PDA is charging with regular charger. Using USB charge or battery power I can't even start the bootloader screen.
From where can I download the SD bootable image or how to make it?
And again small step ahead:
Hi
And again small step ahead:
In craddle there is another input for power so I managed to power it up and connect.
I had to switch of firewall (otherwise i have error 601 - unable to connect the device or something simmillar) and reinstall Active sync back to 3.8
Got bootloader screen USB and hp logo and v 021
by running romupdate utility downloaded from hp site ( whatever the version is ) I finally recognized my model version: it is 6515c
Next
Found valid version from HP site for 6515c ( i think 1.21) and successfully upgraded. No breaks, no other issues just successfully uploadede into finish.
Then hard reset and......
The system starts, screen flashes up, system start loading and the screen fading out. ... and again ..... and again ...... and again and the nothing!
I have tried again to pull out back cover, remove batery, put it back after some time, place back the cover and again.
Nothin' Nada Null %$#@%!$#ing piece of junk.
BTW it is happening only where PDA it is connected to AC power. On battery system is not booting, no booloader nothing!
Any suggestions? Pleeeeeeeease!
After you upgraded the firmware and it started up, was this done with the pda on AC or battery power? If its on battery and it starts fading, your battery is probably screwed. Did you also know there are 2 batteries in the IPaq?
Oh and if its a battery problem, you will need to leave the battery+pda connected to the AC for a while before it can startup and probably into booloader. Run your firmware upgrade again and power it on with the AC connected! If it boots up fine, then monitor the battery status bars in the Power settings and see if both the LiIon and NiMh batteries are holding charge. Hopefully from here you can find a dead battery.
Another thing you could try is to reset the battery when in bootloader mode once you are certain its the battery

Battery reset? Could might be the issue?
Hi
I really appreciate your response.
The whole upgrade and the other stuff have been done with inserted battery and AC connected.
I plugged the PDA into the cradle which was connected to PC via USB and I plugged also AC into the cradle AC input.
It is fading just after reboot only when the iPAQ is connected to AC power (of course battery is inserted otherwise it will not startup anyway.)
On pure battery power it doesn’t giving any signs of living whatever button has been pressed.
The link you provided might contain very valuable directions to me. The man is learning within whole life and dying still being stupid.
I thought that I read the info from the site you suggested but I probably missed the meaning of the post regarding battery reset. That might be this. I will check and update you very soon.
I did the steps from above link. The iPAQ rebooted, started to load the os and again faded out….
Question to everybody:
During bootloader screen appear should I have any diode flashing blinking or whatever
I’m asking because of mine is blind!
Nothing is flashing, blinking, beaming or shining. Just two, completely dead diodes.
Hi, I've just found out what flashing red means
"green blinking means GSM coverage, yellow blinking - missed reminder or alarm clock signal, permanent yellow - recharging, green - the battery is full, red blinking means greatly discharged battery, pale blue blinking - Bluetooth is on"
I think one of your batteries is dead, and if you have already replaced to LiIon battery then you'll probably have to try to replace the NiMh one inside. I cant think of anything else to try
Battery????
Damn!
I think I have a hardware problem! I have 2 batteries: one brand new and the old one. Both not working! Moreover they're not charging! They suppose to charge when I put PDA into the craddle or directly plug to AC charger but they aren't.
No diode is flashing during charging. Damn.
I will try to borrow one battery from one of my friend just to check if this is it!
I will let you know later on.
If I recall correctly, the charging led does not light up in bootloader mode. I maybe wrong though. I think you should try to check the voltage in the LiIon battery to determine if they are being charged.
Also you never mentioned checking the backup NiMh battery. I believe that the NiMh battery is required to power up of the ipaq as well so it may be the cause of your ipaq dying after starting up.
NiMh backup battery
Fortunately I know someone who can charge the battery for me. There will be no problem with that.
From the other side I'm worry about the phone charging....
Why I can't charge the battery using iPAQ?
Next you mentioned about "NiMh battery". I'm sorry for my ignorance but what is that?
Is it secondary battery ?????
Is there any way to charge or replace it? Is it pluggable battery? Where is located?
Yes there is a secondary battery. However, I do not know where it is either.
Here is an example from a different PDA

If you want to open up your IPAQ do it at your OWN RISK!

Commadnnos,
Sound like your 6515 has battery charging problem. If the charging failed, even you have brand new battery, it won't be charged at all.
Since you have two batteries, you might want to buy a external battery charger to prove those two batteries are good.
I think the charge circuit is in the second PCB board which under the keyboard inside your 6515; if those batteries are good, you might want to buy a dead 6515 and replace it by yourself...
Cheers,

Well Well Well ..... it is getting wormer. Many thanks to everyone who are still trying to help me out. Thanks again.
Is that mean the secondary battery is located under the keyboard? I saw the photos from unassembled 6515 and it looks like the secondary battery. To replace it you have to first remove 3 screws, unplug the LCD and remove whole main board.
Is that means that the charging circuit has been built in the keyboard plate?
Thank You all. Patient died......
I would like to thank everyone for help. I think we can close this thread over here.
My beetle just went out into the "digital heaven".
The HP support specialist ensured me (without any tips or hints from my side) that mainly there is a problem with passing the power from the charger to the battery which means no more no less like ".... dude your motherboard is screwed. You have to get the new one or whatever...!"
So now it is a time for selling the rest of the parts on auctions......
R.I.P (Rust In Peace)
if the red light blinks
1 your battery has problem
or
2 your battery cover has problem. The plastic part on the back of your battery cover may have broken which touchs the microswith on the mainboard.
if that microswitch is not triggered , the hw65xx,hw69xx will not turn on.

Display issue with samsung note n7000

My issue is with samsung note n7000. When battery inserted, screen is constantly on with strange horizontal lining. Also happens when display is dimmed. I took the phone apart and cleaned it with alcohol, that did the trick for about 20 hours. This morning started to do the same. Also, there's no warranty left. Posted a picture to show what the screen looks like when battery inserted.
I guess your battery is old..its time to change battery..I had faced same problem before now its allright with new battery...
I am noob.BUT.I am learning
tried with 3 different batteries... don't think it's battery related issue

Could be GPU overheating.
Could be screen overheating.
You could try underclocking the device to 800MHz, it will be dog slow, but should indicate if it is heat related.
Bottom line though, you probably need a new screen.
Search XDA/Google for how to fit a new screen.
Quite often those that have fitted a new screen will expalin why they did so.
If their symptoms are similar to yours then you need a new screen.
You could always give Samsung a bell (that's a phone call in case you're not UK).
Could be resolved

I think, this has happened due to overheating or overcharging. One of the connection point has become loose or soldering has melted. Get this phone to a service station to get this fixed. I dun think u need a new screen.

You're probably bang on there.
It does sound like loose connections on reflection.

I have an extra n7000 as sparepart phone, which has working screen, did the same thing with another screen. Only when i changed the Charging Connector unit from the other phone, the screen went black, but didn't turn on. Could the charger unit cause all this?

I honestly don't know.
I don't know enough about the electronics in the device.
If you can find a service manual for the N7000 this might help.

Charging loop overnight? Screen may be damaged.

Hi everyone, yesterday I used NeMa's battery calibration to reset the batterystats on my Xperia Z3 Compact running the latest Cyanogenmod. I had done it when the phone was charged at 100% and noticed that the battery instantly dipped to 99% afterwards. I took note but I wasn't worried at the time. Last night I left the phone on its charging dock and slept for about 5 hours and 30 minutes. When I woke up I picked up the phone and noticed it was hot. The screen was fine at the time so I checked the battery percentage, saying it was stuck at 99% which leaves me to believe that the battery was stuck in a charging loop from a bad calibration. I texted someone and also noticed that the Swype keyboard was laggy and unresponsive, but with my lock password, etc. it seemed to be fine.
I powered the phone down and slowly tried to dissipate heat with warm water and later colder water. When I tried to power the phone on, it had shown normal booting until the end when the screen gave out. Currently, it will show normal LED lights up top and calls will still register, but the screen is dark and doesn't seem to have promising digitizer input because I can't answer the call even though I know where to touch the screen to answer it.
Has this happened to anyone? This is my first encounter dealing with this. Any fixes (screen response or proper calibration), or would I just have to get it repaired?
Hello, check this things out
only 2 ways to find out if the screen is working or not working at all
a) a very dark place... start the phone.. maybe the screen is not iluminted proprey ! and maybe the screen is visible ...but very limited.
b) buy a mhl to hdmi cable.. to connect from phone to a smartv.
And see if the touch respons.. if yes the only the screen i out.. if not the screen +touch is out ( dead)
Yeah the screen and digitizer are fried. I'm going to try and return it to the seller stating a defective battery. Has this happened to anyone else? I just need to know if there are any fixes to this if I were to get the same phone.

Poor seller, you blew up your phone with bad software and water and you want someone else to pay for it.

Xiaomi 4X drop in water, only vibrates

Hi, few days ago my 4X had a bath in my bathtub, I switched it off immediately, but it turned on itself when displaying boot animation it got blank, I didn't try to turn it on, I took the battery out, and then I put him in a rice for something about 8 hours. Then I pulled him back together and tried to turn on, it doesn't do anything. I didn't switch the charger. And I took him to the nearest service where I was told that the motherboard and display is broken. But in my home I connected the charger and it vibratsd, led has flashed , then was another vibration and led was doing like the phone was charging, but I can't power it. Under the back cover at the top there was a spot that should change the color after contact with water, but it was just white. But in a bottom of phone, on usb charger spot, color changed color to red, so the water was there. So if it's vibrates is it any chance , that motherboard is okay? And it's there a change that only battery is broken, cause it has some kind of crumple. Please help
Vibration doesn't mean much. It just mean your motherboard and battery are not completely dead. However, the circuits and connectors are probably damaged from over-voltage and corrosion. I don't think changing the battery will fix your phone. Sorry. I hope you manage to fix it but i think you need a new motherboard, and a new display, if the flex connector is damaged (hopefully not). The thing is, a damaged motherboard can stop the LCD form working, as there are transistors in the circuits which control current flow and if they are broken/damaged, the display is not getting electricity. That's why the best way to check if the screen is working is to try with a new motherboard
Why would you put it in rice?

because the rice will suck the moisture right out of the phone and restore it to life.
Anybody help?
Extract the sim and put into rice 1 o 2 days, because the rice absorb moisture, if you have no luck take it to a technical service, so you try to recover the motherboard

Hardware defect - Battery or Mainboard issue?

Hi guys,
I had to change both display incl. frame and battery because a barbell fell on my Mi9. This bent the phone at the place of the battery and completely destroyed the display.
I was able to repair the phone quickly, but unfortunatly I did not glue the new battery. Now I was mountain biking and due to the vibrations the battery was torn from the mainboard and parts of the battery cable got stuck in the connector. I had these parts removed carefully by a watchmaker and he assured me that the connerctor looks undamaged.
But now I have the problem that the phone won't start when I insert the old (minimally) bent battery. It does not respond to any input. Only when I charge it, the LED is blinking slowly and the MI Start logo appears for 1/4 second. This process is repeated continuously. The battery also warms up slightly, showing me that it is being charged and that the connection is basically established.
Can you detect a defect on the board by this error description or is this a "typical" battery problem? Or does this error description look familiar to you otherwise?
Thanks for all suggestions,
Mike
Well I'd say that will be a hard problem to diagnose without knowing what to look for, and I definitely don't know but what I'd suggest so you can rule out the battery problem is to try a different battery in the phone and see if you get the same response. If it works happy days problem solved. If not it is more than likely a main board problem or charging connector.
