[Q] got a dead phone after Cognition upgrade

i just upgrade my 2.1 into Cognition using rom manger
after installing i got a black screen with a blue text writing "NOW REBOOT"
nothing happened so i pushed the power button,since then nothing happened.
the phone dont response to nothing the screen is black like the phone is off.
i tried to go into download mode in order to use "one click odin" but nothing happens,the odin dont recognize the device and i get now picture while i am trying to get into the mode.
when i just got the phone i couldnt get into the recovery mode with the combination keys.seems like my phone dont response to any key combination.
and the biggest problem that i live in Israel and i dont have the option to replace it or something like that.
please,if can some1 root me what to do.

so i checked around here and i saw that device that cannot enter downloadmode using combination keys should use homemade 301k usb cable..
i checked the guide how to make 1 but it seems like very complicated action
can i buy it somewhere?
does any 1 want to make me 1 and i will pay him via paypal?

i upgraded as well and got the black screen and blue text it took so time but reboot. Did you try to get in download mode using sdk/adb ?

so i didnt wait enough and restart by pressing the power button.now i stock with a dead phone.
i cant use adb shell beacuse my computer dont recognize the phone nothing happens when i plug the usb.

yeah dude it looks that way maybe you should look around on how to unbrick i really dont know im kinda new to this all i do is read have much as i can on here and try not to mess mty phone up so far ive been doing a good job

I wish I was qualified to help you. There are several seperate ways to induce your phone into download mode with Odin and.revert back to stock. If I am reading the post here correct your phones do not even power on.
People have recovered from this state using Odin. I have never had to so I am not able to spell out the steps.

yeah .. all you have to do is pull out your battery and reinsert it then hold both of the vol buttons and plug the usb cable ..
or the other combinations ... I tried all of those .. but nothing at all .. the phone is just a rock !

2 other small things to try
1 make sure USB is in rear port
2 I believe some have had success by right clicking Odin then selecting run as administrator. Then follow steps

My phone is also stuck in this state (i.e. the phone won't turn on or respond to button presses or inserting usb cords). I'm not sure if Odin can fix that.

To all with this issue. Try Odin. Make sure you right click Odin and make administrator. Follow steps for Odin. It has worked for others. Make sure you are using the rear USB port. I may have this sequence off so search and make sure.it is right. Open Odin pull battery and sim put battery back in. Hold volume up and down. Plug in USB.

I had the same issue. Use odin. Hold both volume keys down and plug in the usb to your phone. You may have to hold it longer than normal. Sometimes the download screen does come on but odin will recognize it. Restore it and you should be okay.

I tried that already. The computer don't even recognize if there's any device plugged into it. I guess it has to be sent to Samsung

Mine was dead like yours with the black screen. My computer wouldnt recognize it. They have a post in general or Q&A where someone had the same issue as yours. I think is titled "Help". I was thinking the same thing that I would have to sent it in but it worked.

Procedure:
1. Remove the battery, external SD card and SIM card.
2. Wait 10 seconds.
3. Open odin3
4. Connect usb cable.
5. Hold volume up + volume down + Power.
6. Insert battery.
7. Release POWER BUTTON ONLY.

Vol up down and power? i would say just vol up and down (for download mode )

My Galaxy SI, DOESN'T turn on.

Hello Guys,
I was flashing my SI, two weeks ago and it got frozen, so I had to take my battery out. After that, my phone doesn't turn on, I've tried everything, even USB jig. But It's dead still.
I also tried the USB jig into my Galaxy SII and into my friend's Galaxy SI, It worked perfectly. (just to make sure that the problem is in my phone)
Is there something else that I could try to do?

Can u get into download mode with 3 button combo.
Press volume down home button and on simultaneously.release all 3 after 3 sec.

Download do not turn of target

No, It doesn't boot into download mode. That's why I bought an USB jig and even using an usb jig it does not boot into download mode.

I've tried put into download mode, so many times and didn't work. That's why I bought an USB jig, even plugging the usb jig it doesn't boot into download mode :/
I have done flashing into my Galaxy SII and twice into my galaxy SI. But, the last time, which was the third time, I did something wrong. (By the way, I was flashing to official room)

Try removing the battery, press the 3 button combo and put the battery back in while you're holding the buttons (you will need some help I guess). Try the same with the JIG.
Edit/ What exactly went wrong?

Did you update the bootloader while flashing? Actually it's really hard to brick an SGS completely... Do you remember what exactly you did when you flashed the phone?
The last chance would be JTAG (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7edUXE7jLg).

What happens when u try to recharge. Does the battery icon show?
try to recharge the phone for an hour.then pull the battery, leave it out for an hour. Put it back and try download mode. Last chance, before jtag,i think

Well, while I was flashing with odin I probably used an incorrect room and it got frozen. I don't know why I took the battery out.. I could just wait and put it to flash again.
Anyway I watched the video and I gave up. I don't have those stuffs and I won't spend money with a £120 phone.

Nope, whatever I do my phone doesn't show anything. I did charge my battery for few hours and the phone got hot (normally, as all phones does while charging) and I tried put into download mode and didn't work.

[Q] Phone is dead

Hey! I have a major issue
Today I decided that I am going to change my ROM from darky's to CM9.All went well until I typed the pin of my SIM and just before I was on mobile's desktop CM9 told me I have to reset.I did and got into boot-loop.
Turned on my Odin to get stock rom on and try everything again , went to download mode but after a few seconds of pressing start Odin wrote FAIL. Since then my phone is dead,can't get into download mode,can't turn it on,doesn't charge. I only hear the 'bleep' sound (the sound when the usb has succesfully been plugged in) when I hold vol+ and vol- and plug usb at the same time but thats it.
What can I do? :crying:

Try a usb jig.

Before buying a JIG, try this:
1. remove battery
2. connect phone to computer via usb (without battery)
3. then press 3-button combo for download mode
4. while pressing these 3 buttons (phone is still connected to pc) put back your battery (for example using your nose )
Worked for me already a few times! If it won't work for the first time, try again and again..

The first thing to do is charge your phone just in case you have been victim of a sudden os battery drain

Now I know why it all went wrong.I accidently downloaded cm9 for galaxy S2 and put it on my phone. But could still get into download mode but it's dead since Odin failed.
Ajoslaf I tried that and all I got was the sound of the usb being plugged in,nothing else.Tried filling up the battery and got the same.
Now I can try with usb jig,but doesn't that only work in download mode?

My samsung galaxy mini has got into dead mode,because I installed a custom rom from this link . My phone is not turning ON. Even when I'm charging my phone,it is not showing the charging icon and also when I connected it to PC via USB,it is not showing the battery icon. My phone was totally got dead.So,now I jus want to go to download mode,How can I do this.Please help me.....I heard that we can do this by using JTAG blah blah, I couldnt understand ,So give me the clear (procedure)explanation and required files that how can i go to download mode.

ON mobile without USB,dont connect usb try without connected usb and go to download mode

You have the right area so don't worry about that.
It looks like your phone is done for good, but let's try to salvage it. Follow the steps carefully to avoid messing it up even further.
1.Make sure your battery is charged. Use an universal charger or something similar to charge it if not.
2.Unplug your phone from your USB cable or charger.
3.Put the battery back inside but do not power it up yet.
4.Hold the VOLUME DOWN button and the HOME button. While holding both of them, press and hold the POWER button. You should be prompted with a DOWNLOADING message. If nothing shows, then it's dead.
5.If you are shown the message, then you can still make it work. Make sure you have all your USB Drivers installed. After that download ODIN.
6.Open ODIN and plug in your phone while it is still in DOWNLOAD mode.
7.If it recognizes it, follow the steps here and you should be done.

As you mentioned in the 4th point, I've done what u suggested me to do by pressing the keys VOLUME DOWN,HOME,and POWER keys,but my phone is not switching into download mode....It is Dead mate..... Please help me

There is not much left to do. If there is a method of fixing this type of hard brick, the chances are very slim. You're better off sending the phone to Samsung Care.

Google and YouTube search for USB JIG. that might help you. It works on dead phones.

try a stock gingerbread by odin
and if it stuck at Samsung image go to recovery mod and clear data and cashe

Connection: 0 is drivers or kies problem. Uninstall all the Samsung USB drivers and re install them and also force stop or close kies running in background.

Captivate struck, not booting, no download mode, no at&t screen,

My captivate started behaving abnormally after flashing with odin. I ll explain what happened
I got the phone with froyo , i rooted it and using cwm i flashed cynageon mod and its working like charm. Later i replaced my usb pin and it doesnt boot up ,all it shows is a spinning circle when i charge. So i tried the volume+/- plugging usb cable and flashed kornkernel in pda option , i got the at&t screen , then i flashed in pda boot.img from the cynageon zip, later i kept in download mode and flashed oneclick odin froyo, it booted up showingusb connected even its not. After using the phone for some time i switched it off ,then when i press power key a spinning circle comes and goes , i tried a jig after inserting jig it simply boots the phone to froyo, after booting pc is not showing that the phone is connected and its not charging, when i switch off again i need a jig to start the phone, i cant get it into download mode, but when the phone is off and i connect charger it charges the battery. Please help me

I believe there is a guide on here somewhere that talks about taking the battery out. Plugging the USB in and holding vol. up/down and inserting the battery. It worked for me, but you should double check the steps I mentioned because it has been a while. I would then recommend using odin to flash to complete stock to be safe after that. Let me know if anything changes
