[Q] Zoe camera crashing - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I'm running the latest stock rooted (2.16.651.4) and just tried to use the Zoe function in camera. It's the first time I've tried to use it since the update, and it's crashing the camera app left and right. When I switch from any other function to Zoe, crash. I bring camera back up, and it'll be in Zoe, but half of the time, it'll crash right away again. If it does stay up, it seems to work until I switch away and back again.
My question is, could anyone share the apk for camera (assuming it'll contain all of the functions including Zoe) so I can try to reload the app? Or if anyone knows of a different fix, I'm certainly open to suggestions. Thanks.

Try clearing the App Cache in the App Settings to reset the camera to the default settings.
Edit: Interestingly enough, my camera app crashes when I switch to Zoe, but without a crash alert (not sure if my custom Rom has blocked those). The difference is that u can open my camera into Zoe, and successfully capture Zoe images.

That's almost identical to my problem. No crash alert, the app just goes down. If, by stroke of luck, I can get it to run with Zoe, I can take images just fine. The problem shows back up when I try to use any other camera function then go back to Zoe.
I did get one error, systemui crashed and it was the report or not error, but that only happened once.
I cleared the cache, and while it doesn't crash 8 out of 10 times, it'll still go down like 4 out of 10. If I cleared the app data, would that smoke my pictures or anything?

No. It only clears the App data for the camera, making it as 8f you opened the camera for the first time, pop-up tips and all.

Well, I cleared the app data, and while it didn't completely fix things, it's definitely crashing less. If I last used the camera in Zoe, the next camera launch crashes, along with a random crash when switching from another function to Zoe. It certainly ain't perfect, it'll do for now I suppose.

[Q] JPY is almost perfect but..

Has anyone noticed this bug with JPY?:
When you first boot and open Gallery it is super fast with all the thumbnails preloaded. After a couple of hours when you open it again it says "Loading images" and re caches the thumbnails again taking some time. This is especially evident in folders with a lot of images. It would be ok for an hour and then bam! Loading images slowly when i open it again.
Clicking on a folder opens it with the first four pics showing and then scrolling you have to wait a few seconds for the thumbnails to appear whereas when it initially booted all the thumbnails were already there. Its like it deletes the thumbnails after a while and has to generate them again which takes some time especially if you have a lot of folders and pics.
Is this normal, I don't remember this in my old firmware? Its the only thing that is bugging me. Maybe they force close Gallery after a certain time avoid the sensor draining bug that was there with the previous firmware?
Can you please check a see if yours is the same so i dont have to do a factory reset
you can download SGS tools from the markup and upgrade your gallary app.. that's what i did and i don't have any problems with the gallery anymore..
goodluck
The gallery app in SGS tool is not compatible with JPY because of the new feature of selecting wall paper for lock screen. I gave it a try but it would force close everytime i wanted to select a wallpaper.

Absolutely the same and even more.... I have my picasa account connected to the gallery too, after an hour mainly picassa the gallery crashes - black screen, but no force close. Actually this one, the battery (not 100% after disconnecting) and the contacts app not closing, made me go back to JPP.

The contacts bug can be solved by uninstalling the task manager's update.

Yes, go to manage applications, find it and click uninstall updates to go to the previous version, and the contacts app will be ok.
im having an issue that when you plug in to charge phone is unresponsive... anyone else notice.. not a big deal as i charge batteries in external chargers.. but????
I wouldn't say perfect but it's the best stock firmware yet.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

[SOLVED]Camera Previews stuck "loading", need help.

When I take a picture using the stock camera App and then try to view it, it only shows me a blurry preview and it just says "loading" in the middle, but never loads the picture no matter how long I wait.
When I go to the stock gallery, I can see all of my pictures, but when I click on any of the thumbnails it does the same thing.
I am currently running stock 5.7.893, deodexed. Only mods I have made is this one from Droidjunk - Power Menu with Reboot & Reboot Recovery.
Otherwise everything is working great.
I downloaded QuickPik from the market and it works great. All pictures load just fine, as they should. Only problem I can't get QuickPik to load from within the camera app.
So it appears to be an issue with the stock gallery app.
The deodexer does that. I spoke with droid junk who indicated he cant fix it.
Ahhh... thanks for the info. That would explain it then.

The best place to start is wth a bit more info. We wont know how to help until we know how you got here.
What ROM are you running?
What base firmware?
Has the phone always done this or only started recently?
Are there any pop-up error messages when gallery closes?
Have you tried clearing the cache ad data from the gallery app?
Can a third party gallery app (like QuickPic) access your photos?
Have you tried backing up your SD card contents and re-formatting the SD card?
Running stock with latest int firmware
It started last week, never had such issue before
No FCs or any other popups
clearing the cache ad data from the gallery app did not work
a third party gallery app works fine
I think the only other thing to try is to wipe the device clean & start over
I appreciate your support

z1 camera orientation

hello there,
i just had an issue with an camera icon which stupidly was placed somehow underneath my dock at the homescreen.
i decided to try uninstalling the camera app so the shortcut would be removed, saved the app with titanium backup though in order to reinstall it via backup.
unfortunatelly the camera now has wrong orientation so when im in normal orientation it only shows half of the screen as if i would be in landscape mode.
i installed a camera app from google store to test if this would act normal but it doesnt as well.
any idea how to fix this ?
thanks
hey i fixed it by restoring philz backup , still would be interesting to know about the cause of this issue because i had this with my note 3 also until i flashed another rom.

Find an app that's can lock apps rotation and set it to landscape. I had the same problem
Same thing happen to me start last night, I tried few different camera app, works fine in google's camera app, word lens, but camera zoom is same problem as sony's camera app.
my guess is that one of the rotation function didn't able to call the position function, not able to reset or clear the memory,
is there a way to reset the camera app? I don't think restore backup will fix it, if the backup is already went bad.

[Q] Album constantly crashing

Hi everyone,
First post here. I did a search for this problem but couldnt find anything...
Purchased this phone a couple of weeks ago. So far pretty good, battery life is great but one problem my handset has is that the Album constantly crashes. Every single time I open the album, within 5 seconds it will give the error message, "Unfortunately, Album has stopped". I've restarted the phone, installed all the updates and its getting very frustrating now. I cant even keep the album open long enough to send a picture via whatsapp. I've tried installing QuickPic but for some reason it hasnt 'transferred' all the media that I have and it seems most programs use Album by default.
I've attached a screenshot of the problem (which I somehow managed to upload before the 5 second mark and error came up again).
If anyone can suggest the solution to this I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It says 'All this app's data will be deleted permanently. This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc'. Does this mean I will lose all my pictures/videos?
Also there are two 'clear data' options, one for storage and one for cache. Were you referring to one in particular, or both?
Thanks again.
Clear data and clear cache
From here
And no. You will lose no photos or videos which are on your internal storage/sdcard.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did lose a few pictures, but not sure where exactly they were stored.
The crashes stopped for a few hours but has since returned.
