I am not aware of anyone running into this issue before. If you set it on a rough surface or a surface with granules of sand, then that could definitely be the culprit. As far as replacing the lens goes, there is currently no way to get a hold of a replacement lens as far as I know.
If you mean the inside phone part then you'll have to replace the entire camera part. If you mean just the part that you can touch with your finger then you'll need to replace the back glass.
I'm having the same issue, there are some spots on top of the lenses on my phone that won't go away and *all* my photos are have the white color over exposed plus focusing is never sharp enough like other phones, I bought the phone the way it is now and I'm going to replace the back glass to see if it helps.

hello.
I've noticed that in all my pictures (and in the camera application) I have a black dot on the low right corner (photo attached).
Did any of you had similar problems? I think something is wrong with the camera.
I've also recently got a splodge from the images from my camera...though mine looks like a glass chip...
This may seem like a silly question, but have you removed the battery cover and taken a picture to see if it's a blemish on the cover? Also, if it's still there with the cover removed, try cleaning the actual lense (delicately) and see how it looks. It's worth a shot.
yes, i've tried those. I think is something with the sensor, or under the interior lens.
after further inspection, i can see a spot on the interior lens... but i can't clean it. I think it's a scratch (might have dropped it once).
can I do something to change/clean this lens?

Must be a big scratch for the spot to appear that large in the images...
I wonder if vaseline would help. I use a bit of the stuff for some scratches on my PC's LCD monitor. Works wonders. Not sure if it'll work with lens scratches though...

Considering the actual size of the lens, and the fact that its seems to be on the lens itself, I don't think it would take much to cause a dot of that size.
Mine also appears to be internal. Looks like a rather large dust particle is resting on the lens under the glass. Though oddly, the focus on the splodge always appears the same, regardless of the depth of focus in the shot...
Been itching for an upgrade, seems my phone realises this....
Hi,
i have a black dot on pictures and movies, that are taken with my galaxy s.
do anyone have a clue where it comes from and how to fix that?
Looks like some dust particle.
any chance to fix it by myself, or do i have to send it in?
Looks like something is directly in front of the camera.
If it is on the outer glass you could easily remove it, but I guess it's on the inside of the camera glass.
Unless you open it yourself/let someone open it you're SOL I guess.
I have a similar problem, but it is not as pronounced.
Probably dirt or a hair that got into the camera.
If you cannot see the anything on the glass or the lens then it is a problem with the camera module. I have the same problem but it is less visible then yours, i opened up my phone clean the lens but nothing change.
Send it to warranty center if you dont want to lose your warranty.
Alright, I was an idiot and managed to crack my glass camera lens cover. I purchased this : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RKFAZ5I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and did the replacement, but my pictures appear sort of "hazy" or "foggy" for lack of a better term. I can still get it to focus really well, but the pictures don't pop like they used to.
The only thing I did while replacing that could have caused problems was using compressed air while the old cover was off to ensure none of the shattered glass was left in the actual camera lens mechanism. I made sure to hold the can at an angle so that none of the liquid came out, but i did notice the lens mechanism moving around (almost like a hockey puck) as the air interacted with it. I assumed this sort of free floating lens design had something to do with the optical image stabilization, so it didn't seem like a big deal. I put the new cover on with clean hands and thought everything was fine until I started taking pictures again.
Has anyone replaced the camera lens cover and experienced a similar issue? I've ordered another one to take another shot at it, and I'm actually going to take some test pictures while the cover is removed just to see if I did actually damage the lens itself...
I have the jump protection, but would rather fix it myself than pay 175 for a refurb that I'm going to replace in 4 months anyways.
Why not replace the whole back camera?
I dont know how easy is to remove the lens cover but check if pictures taken without cover are foggy or not. If foggy then camera lens is dirty, if sharp - camera lens cover is a problem.

My guess is it got moisture behind the lense, or the lense was dirty.
When they create that hardware it is sealed in 0% humidity. If it was even a rainy day when you installed the lense, it could have caused it to fog up.

What I did was pull mine back and clean it with some alcohol and a q-tip
Is there a part number for that?

Thanks, might give that a shot if it doesn't clear up with the next lens cover.
Did you peel the plastics on both sides of the lens cover? Also check if it's actually focusing. Maybe slap the phone and see if it refocuses. Afterall there are moving parts in there.
Is there a genuine saphire lens cover to buy anywhere? I to used the cheap replacement cover and my pictures are blurry and bad in bright light. My camera itself should be fine though.
I recently bought a Nexus 6 on Swappa, and for the first couple of days didn't notice anything at all wrong. Now today I went to take a picture and there was a very out of focus black smudge on my pictures. Ok, no big deal. Wipe off the rear lens, still there. Uh oh. It wasn't there at first, or at least I didn't notice it. I figured I bought it second-hand so the Moto warranty is null and void anyways. So I peeled my back cover up and lifted the lens off the camera sensor. Then I gently cleaned the lens on the sensor. Powered the phone back on, the spot is still there.
So evidently some little speck of crap has managed to make its way inside of the camera sensor, or a pixel on the sensor died. Not sure what it would look like. This just looks like an out of focus black speck. So I guess I'm going to be replacing it myself. Anyone know of any parts sources other than eTradeSupply? They're currently out of stock of the rear camera sensor. I can live with $25. There is another site that wants $90, but that seems a little steep.
Hello,
So I have this Motorola Moto Z3 Play (XT1929) and the glass lens covering the camera shattered while being inside a woman's bag (not drop), but the camera was still working normally, it just didn't look good aesthetically. So I got the phone to some repair place to get the glass cover changed and after the technician finished he showed me that the camera now looks completely blurry and doesn't focus on anything. The glass itself looks clean inside and it is definetely clean outside too, so I don't think that could be a reason. Anyone has any idea of what the cause of this issue is?
