Is anyone else trying to use Vulkano Player? (It is like Slingbox for those that don't know)
I haven't been able to get it to work with the tnt lite firmware or the VEGAn firmware.
The application comes up and I can control the tv (ie: change channels). I can also transfer recordings from the box to my tablet and view them just fine. However, when I go to watch live tv, it just goes black. No audio or video.
It works perfectly on my Nexus One.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

No luck here either. I'm trying to stream from a Hava Platinum but the same thing happens, it just goes black.
I tried to buy TestTube (another Hava client) from the market (with the Full Market fix) but after I paid for the app... it just gives me a server error when downloading the apk. Now it's not even letting me request a refund!

I just got an email back from the company and they are aware of this and say it should be fixed by the end of the month: (Here is the text of the email)
Thank you for contacting Monsoon Support.
Current Android Player works with Android Phones only. Android Tablet will be supported in next software release. Expected to have it towards the end of this month.
Thank you for choosing Monsoon Multimedia.

Looks like they finally updated... Unfortunately I still can't connect to my Hava Platinum.
Hi,
I have the older Hava wifi, and I'm able to watch live tv by using it with Orb by setting Orb to use the Flash player.
I don't know if a similar setup would work w Vulcanized, but just an FYI.

FWIW...
Not working for me either on CM6.1, CM7 or Vegan. I have the same problem on the Nook Color: it worked fine on eclair, but I have yet to find a build of Froyo or Gingerbread that it can stream video on. Does it even work on 2.2 or higher?
I have older slingbox original hooked up to my s3 TiVo working fine with my sags and gtablet

Victory!
Vulkano Mobile 1.5.083 was just released today and fixes the problem. My G-Tablet and Nook Color now happily display TiVo! Yai!
About Sling vs. Vulkano: the Vulkano is considerably cheaper than Sling ($100 if you get the version with no SD or HD, you can always add that yourself later if you need it) and offers a lot more functionality. Also, the mobile clients (for iPhone, iPad, Android, PC, Mac) are free. Sling charges $30 for mobile clients. Finally, the video quality is better. It does an especially good job on LANs.
I was just about to return my Vulkano, back in the box, rma and everything. Unboxed it, and tried 1.5.083, unfortunately, for me, same result as previous versions. When trying to watch live tv, The vulkano player says buffering, with a black screen and never displays video. Tried with fresh installs of vegan 511, and tntl44, same results on both. I caution anyone that's considering this, that it may not work with your gtablet. As an aside, it does work nicely with my evo4g, unfortunately, I was really hoping to use it with the tablet.
Justin
Tried the new app, and like Turbo, says 'buffering' but doesn't display any video.

Does not work here either. Running Calkulin's ROM and Clemsen's kernel. Just says buffering,.....works great on my Droid X, wish they would get it together.
Well my Vulkano is supposed to arrive today, so I'll post my results a bit later. Caulkulin's ROM and Clems ver. 9 kernel.
OK. Got the Vulkano about an hour ago. Works fine on my Evo, but stuck on buffering on the G Tab as well. I'll play around with it a bit and see what's up.
Ok so I just tried Corwins CM7 and it works!!! The only rom so far that my Vulkano works on. Nice, I missed my Vulkano.Give it a shot.

Could be the OC kernel.
I had problems previously on my Nook Color where the Vulkano player would play for a few seconds and then stall. I haven't done extensive testing but the same exact version on the same CM7 build now works and the only difference is that I haven't installed the OC kernel. More testing needed, I guess. Anyway, now I'm having the same problem with Vulkano Player 1.6.083 on a stock 7" Dell Streak: stuck on the "Buffering..." screen.
While this post is a bit stale, I did want to report that I am having a great experience with the G-tab and Vulkano Player (Version 3.0.629) and my Vulkano Flow. A couple of caveats however. First the app is no longer "free" ($12.99 on Google Market). I am running VeganTab 7.1.0 on my tablet. Network speed is really key here to buffering. In my house, excellent quality and no buffering time outs (naturally), "Starbuck"s - some stuttering but generally watchable," hpsquest" (thank you however you are) quite watchable with one drop out (I think when a large truck went by) even on a "Fair" wireless connection, "Mike" - too many drop outs and unreliable wireless network; packed it up and went home.
I wasn't sure I was going to keep the Vulkano Flow, however it will let me watch on the G-tablet, football games in bed while the wife sleeps. I am using wireless blue-tooth headphones to boot and no interference. I purchased the Vulkano to watch TV remotely at a ski-house but brother-in-law decided to get cable tv instead of high speed internet access (too bad in my opinion on several accounts).
I haven't tried standard cable quality. I currently have it paralleled to my high definition cable box. (This also allows me to see what my teenagers are watching on the big screen in the basement and if I feel like it, mess with them but I digress ...). When I get some time I will experiment on a standard definition digital to analog signal (we know have to have a cable box of some sort to watch any cable television). I also will try hooking up OTA somehow to test that too. Not sure how I am going to do that but I did purchase a digital to analog converter recently so perhaps that will do it for me.
I emailed them to ask if it was compatible and they sent me an apk to test with a id and pw with one of their boxes hooked up. I didn't have any luck so I bought slingbox and I don't have any issues with slingplayer.
Hello,
I installed the CM build from Hashcode a few months ago. However, when trying to watch a movie (format / codec doesn't matter), the sound stops playing after around 1 or 2 minutes when using a third party player (VLC).
The pre-installed stock one works fine, any other player I tried is having these issues (and I tried a lot).
This is a little annoying as the stock player is very limited in formats. Does anyone have similar issues or a fix for this?
My Gtab works great with CM 10.1 and enjoying the 4.2.2 It gave life again to this tablet. I downloaded/installed xbmc 12.2 but every time I try to start it it crashes. It never worked!
Any one aware of such problem? I tried to uninstall and install, clear data and cache of the app but in vain.
I would love to get it to work. It works on my 4.1 devices (Galaxy S3 and Google TV device).

Two Points...
One: How can you boast of new life, when 4.2.2 breaks Bluetooth, and the Front Camera, as well as the Wired Headset Button?
Two: XBMC 12 isn't really fixed on Android yet. (i.e. Hardware Acceleration), XBMC 13 (Gotham), addresses those issues, but being in Alpha its still quite unstable... Till its not. Sadly we just have to wait until Gotham gets released. My guess would be sometime in April.

well compare to how slow it was on GB I am so happy with the JB version. I don't use bluetooth on my Gtab, it's mostly used for surfing the web, watching tv/movies, and social media.
As far as XBMC, I am using it on my Galaxy S3 and it's working with few issues, but at least it starts up and run. I read many posts of other users who have XBMC running on their GTab and I was wondering what am I missing. It crashes right away, never makes it to the user interface!
I have yet to find a ROM where the sound doesn't lag the video on the Netflix app. Even using the custom kernels makes no difference.
If I go back to the stock Nook HD+ ROM, there's no audio lag at all.
Really frustrating as I'd love to run a custom ROM but primarily use the Nook HD+ for surfing the web, youtube and Netflix.
All three Nook HD+ I've had have the same issue so it's not an issue with a specific device.
Any suggestions?

I have used CyanogenMod (now running 11.2 M8) for over a year with no such audio issues.
I've been running verygreen's CM 10.1 almost a year now and ran netflix a bunch
of times, with no problems.
brand new to this... just installed CM 11 latest nightly build for the first time on the Nook HD+. All seems fine, except I notice this problem too. Audio lags in Netflix. Bummer.
Well, audio can lag over cable TV as well as other stuff. If anyone could ever truly solve the problem because they can't.
Maybe background service(s) from other app(s) doing something funky as they can run during the video (for instance email can still be received during playback). You didn't say if it was a fresh new install with the least amount of installed apps possible (most controlled environment possible) . Bn rom unless rooted (I guess) wouldn't have access to all the same apps that could be installed.
There could be other differences as well that you haven't taken into account. Is the stream running at the same quality? Are all the nook apps (including internal like gapps) fully updated on the bn rom? It could be that the newer versions are more taxing on the hardware. Etc. All theoretical but what else is there with no concrete answer.

It was a fresh install. I only have a handfull of apps. All apps are current.
I recently acquired SM-T817T T-mobile version of Galaxy S2 and noticed that some video files are stuttering while playing video. The stuttering goes away once I disable hardware acceleration. I have tried various players with no success. It happened with 720p and 1080p files. Most play fine though. Also those files SM-T817T struggle with play perfectly fine on my SM-T810. I have tried numerous players with no success. Any recommendations? Both tablets run stock FW. I rooted 817 yesterday, obviously it didn't make any difference.
Same thing with a sm-t719. Flashed lineage 16 today, and every audio - video that i play (regardless of the application) always stutter. More specificly it skips every other second of the video.
Is this a know problem or not?
