★ ☆ [MOD] Remove Red Text on Splash screen | hboots | m7wls | ☆ - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Does the red development text on the splash screen bother you after unlocking your device?
If so, I have a modified hboot for you that takes care of it.
This was simply hex edited by me to remove the text from the screen, no other changes were made.
I have tested it and it is 100% proven to work without any side effects.
I had done this for the Verizon m7, Dna, Butterfly S, One Max, M8, and was asked if I would do it for the Sprint m7, so here it is...

Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip nameoffile_hboot.zip (this flashes the modified hboot zip file)
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
fastboot reboot-bootloader (this reboots the device to bootloader)
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and not see the red text anymore.
If you have any questions or issues, let me know.
Now for my RED TEXT:
DisclaimerYou are aware that writing to the security protected partitions increases your risk to lose the device exponentially.
You understand and agree that i cannot be held responsible for such or any other damages.
The flash process is theoretically safe and tested, however you are the brains behind the wheel and you are solely responsible for the execution of the process.
I will not accept any responsibility. The method itself is developed by Google and HTC, I only provide access and information to it and you execute it.
You understand that you should not do it if you are not willing to accept this risk.
If you plan on reverting to stock-relocked, for any reason:
You should follow the above steps first, but use a Stock firmware/hboot.
Do this before you relock the bootloader.
-FAUX LOCKED HBOOTS-
(not really Locked and S-on but appear that way)
Since I initially posted this:
I had a couple requests for a modified hboot that shows the device as being Locked and S-On, while being completely unlocked and S-Off.
I went ahead and made that as per request and have tested it as well.
The process is the same as the one I wrote above, with the exception of the filename.

Awesome work thanks for that

Nicely done! Thank you sir!

Had a mod for this on the HTC one xl great to see it on m7wls
sent from my badass M7

thanks !! no more red text, perfect to sell it good job man

Perfect
... Worked Flawlessly :good: ...
BTW, pressed the Thanks button

Probably a dumb question, but do we need to be on this hboot version already to use this mod?
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Free mobile app

It was built with hboot 1.57, so yes. *nod*

Does the remove red text also give the appearance of being locked and S-on, The two mod combined

The faux locked mod (the latter of the two) does. The other one just removes the red text alone.

UPDATED!~
Updated with latest hboot from 5.05.651.2 OTA - No Red Text and Faux Locked! :good:

Just wanted to say thanks, this took like 30 seconds of my time, but it worked flawlessly .
I have a question though:
In case my phone ever blows up like it once did, would HTC be able to extract the real tampered/unlocked/s-off status like it did? Even though my phone needed its damn motherboard replaced ($200), they were able to pull up the bootloader.

Flawless!!!
I needed to take this time to thank this awesome dev. Thanks again

I cannot get RUU/fastboot to work on my new computer. I've tried everything. I just sticks on "<waiting for deivce>" when i do any fastboot commands. The phone will say "fastboot USB" at the top so the phone part is setup fine. I have got RUU/.fastboot working on a couple other computers before. Something just seems borked with the HTC drivers or something.
edit:
So i went back and attempted this again. This time sober... Basic troubleshooting led me to the USB 3.0 port not working. I switched to a 2.0 and everything worked as advertised. Thanks for this quick fix and also getting my hboot up to date.

Can I flash this over my old (1.47, I think) hboot?

You should really update your entire firmware to the latest available.(always a good idea)
Then flash the corresponding hboot from here, that matches your current (updated) firmware.

Hello,
I tried your splash screen and after a few tries I got it to work. However it is now stuck on that screen and I can't do anything with the phone.
Any ideas as to how to fix this?
Thanks
flash a new radio it may fix the problem

I already have the latest one installed. The windows cmd prompt can't access my phone while in fastboot because it automatically offers to install PG32.IMG. I get to chose yes/no. For both options I am only left to reboot the device afterwards. In that time I can't force it into recovery or push a new file into it.

Me again, thanks for your advice gdi2290 in my moment of panic
So I was finally able to reload my backup I made before flashing the new splash screen. It restarted properly, all while conserving the the new splash screen!
It ended up taking more time than expected, but all is back to normal, with a new splash screen!
I don't know however what was the cause for what went wrong

oh at least its working now sorry about that. I'm unable to really work on the device without having one I'll have to look into it more before I continue support for the phone
If it could be of any help, for the android-info.txt I used the PG3212000 modelid (I'm with Virgin which is owned by Bell, I tried the other one before and it said wrong version then aborted installation) and the 2.30.405.1 mainver.
Why dont you just use Android Flasher for the PC
Make your BMP image, at the right size for you phone
Then select Splash in Android Flasher

I mean it's an international WWE (World Wide English) HTC One M7_UL (LTE capable), not branded (as in not carrier branded phone).
And maybe I misunderstood about unlocked, you mean SIM-Unlocked or bootloader unlocked?
I think best for you to wait until it's shows up normally on your device, cause there are two around 4.19.401.8 and 4.19.401.9 (which may have been stopped due to bugs).
If your phone is just a standard ROM and locked bootloader, then best to wait.

Bro, the updates are coming from the HTC MEA region. The MEA region hasn't rolled out the update. So, its impossible to officially get the update. Even though its an unbranded one, the J_15 wont get it unless MEA rolls it out

and yes, that's the official OTA, which can be applied manually using stock recovery if coming from 3.62.401.1 (without unlocking or anything).
BUT: if that's not the update HTC is going to push for J15, then any OTAs after that will very likely no longer work.
so OP, if you want my personal opinion, just wait for it to be released officially.

[Q] Switching from GP rom to Sense.

Dear people of XDA,
I've had my HTC One for a few months now and I must say I'm really enjoying it. I switched right after I got it to the GP rom, mainly because I didn't like the flipboard homescreen from Sense. But I've changed my mind, and I want to go back. But there's a small problem.
I'm not really great when it comes to installing ROM and stuff like that, so consider me a total noob. Alright, I'll get to the problem.
I can't flash another ROM. Why, you may ask, well that's because I can't enter recovery mode. It gives me an Android logo with a red triangle with a "!" in it. Well, I thought I'd have to flash a custom recovery then, so I tried that. But then again, the problem is my bootloader is (re)locked. Unlocking doesn't work, I've tried HTCdev, and Revone, but it doesn't work.
Now while trying that stuff, I've noticed a little red line in fastboot which wasn't there before. This is what it says:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]OS-3.62.1700.1 (4.19.401.11)[/COLOR]
Not sure what that means and if it's important, because the phone boots as it always has.
So basically, I need to unlock my bootloader, to flash recovery, to install a new ROM. Can anyone help me figure this out?
Thanks in advance,
Derk
Bump, I was hoping to get some help! Please anyone?

Looks like a converted Sense to GPE edition phone? you should not have gone S-On!!
Since you're firmware is in limbo, you can flash signed firmware from here: http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC/HTC_One/401/
Code:
[B]modelid: PN0710000[/B]
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__J15
[B]cidnum: HTC__E11[/B]
cidnum: HTC__203
cidnum: HTC__102
cidnum: HTC__405
cidnum: HTC__Y13
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__304
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__016
I would recommend you try 4.19.401.9 not .11 because it's more complete:

I've got the red OS thing away, but HTCdev still doesn't work. I can get the unlock code.bin from the email I get, but when I flash it, it said it's completed but my phones doesn't do anything.
Code:

OKAY [ 0.141s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.003s]
finished. total time: 0.144s

yeah that's not good
try doing a factory reset in stock recovery (use POWER + VOLUP to get to the menu in stock recovery), then get a new token again, and hope for the best
that's the problem when you go S-On, you pretty much f^ up yourself

Haha, when I screw something up, I do it good. Ugh, 1,5GB takes about 5 hours to download, so I'll report back to you when I've tried that.
Thanks in advance!
Alright I'm back. I've got it downloaded but I ran against another problem; the RUU doesn't work correctly.
Whenever I open it asks me to accept the license agreement, I check the 'yes', and press continue. Then nothing happens. Like, the RUU program closes and it's gone.
I've checked if the file is complete and it is, checked md5, also correct. Ugh, why do I always run into so many problem. *cries*

And be careful what you flash/install make sure it's for Sprint (M7_WLS)... Sprint has a completely different partition table than the other M7_U/UL models.
So even custom recovery is different, Sprint forum is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one
And from the looks of it, there is no TWRP 2.6.3.4 for your version (so you may even be using a wrong recovery too): http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7wls
check the output of "fastboot getvar all" to confirm it's an m7_wls with MID PN0720000 = Sprint.

[Q] Installing google play edition proving impossible

Hi I had been getting update notifications system upgrade on my HTC M7
Ändroid L Upgrade. I hope it would fix my device from forgetting wifi passwords..
When I pressed to install, it would got to recovery (then it was twrp) and fail, reboot back
After some investigation on this forums found it the problem was going from my software version LRX22c.H3 to LMY470 was not going to happen because it missed parts.
I tried stock recovery that failed with red exclamation mark
No problem I think Iwill download the full firmware 5.01 and install that following the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/rom-google-play-edition-lollipop-v1-00-t2963927
But Having tried unsuccesfully now for 3 days I am asking for help.
The problems I have seem to be
1 HBoot 1.54 (to soff i thin i need to be on 1.55+
cid HTC__44 tried numers times to changeto 11111111 but I assume because s-on no joy
S-ON tried to soff firwalker gave up
currently on kernel 3.4.106-kangaroo-g3a212fc
baseband says 4a.17.3250.14_10.39.1150.04D
yes I am very familiar with ADB Fastboot, CWm or TWRP (current bootloader)
Can anyone please suggest the correct path to get CID 1111111 on so that I beleive i can then flash over the firmware listed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/rom-google-play-edition-lollipop-v1-00-t2963927, and then i can flash google rom
And am I correct in my assumptions?
Thanks everyone for you consideration an any help offered

You can't install ota update using a custom recovery, you must use the stock recovery that match your firmware version or that one provided in the ota update zip file.
