[Q] OK Google Crashing - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone I have been flashing Roms for over a year or more now having a great time with it, have a question though I have been on the Omni Rom for a few moths now flashing the nightly at least once a week my last few flashes I have had OK Google going the problem is every time i say "OK Google" it responds understands what I have asked (as it writes it on the screen) then crashes. This happens every time and will not respond to the hot word till I reboot.
just to give full story my voice search will still work fine if I just press the microphone its only having a cow when I use the hotword. If anyone else has had this and fixed it please help.
thanks in advance

I'm having the exact same issue on my t0lteatt device running AOKP. It just started yesterday. I'm wondering if it's a google play services issue.

How do I turn HER OFF

i'm not sure if i touched some setting by accident but everytime i get a phone call (must be a text to speach feature) a voice comes in and lowers the volume of my rintone and says the name of whoever is calling. It is very aggrivating since the volume decreases quite a bit and i have missed a lot of calls because of it, and on top of that the voice is not very clear. ive searched, and ive gone through the settings in my phone, but cant find anything.
I have the 3.29 hardspl, and dutty's apr 29 rom.
PS. i havent searched for this problem yet, but if anyone has a simple fix for this, people tell me that i cut off during calls once in a while but i can still hear them so im guessing its an internal microphone problem?
To turn her off I usually say that her butt looks big in those pants. That usually does the trick.
Seriously, Start -> Settings -> Voice Command -> Notifications.
You need to search for the answer. It's very straight forward, and easy to find. Although someone will probably spoon-feed you the info within minutes...
I can't believe you admitted to not searching!?!?!
DAMN! Tricked me into Spoonfeeding him by setting up a joke!
That's it vw_krazy....

please read my posts properly, your a senior member and yet you still misread posts that are very clear. I said that I haven't searched for the OTHER problem in my PS. statement. I clearly said ive searched this forum for the first problem (turning "her" off).
Anyways thanks for the help, i actually named the thread "turning her off" partially to see some of the things you guys would come up with, again thanks for the laughs and help!

This is all i see when its starting/freezing:

I give up. This phone wont start after adding some multimedia files. Maybe my o2 shop can give me a another one.:crying:
Maybe factory reset? That is very weird mine doesn't do that.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I tried this already 3 times and now i dont touch anymore until i take it to the shop. I think also im only one, who got this problem.
Hello,
I've received a brand new phone ( Swisscom Switzerland) today, first time starting, after 1 minutes it starts to freeze without any parameters.
I needed to hold power and volume down to restart.
I think my problem is very similar to yours...
I Tried to make a full charge, factory reset, remove sim card, but still freeze after a few minutes.
Any advice ?
I'll bring back to the shop monday, very disapointed...
Regards,
MT
Hi, on androidhilfe I asked too, but no one except me had this.
Best way is to give it to the repair.

Viber not working on XT1068

I recently bought a Moto G (2014) dualsim phone (XT1068) and it's working fine (including Skype).....except for Viber.
When installing Viber, the app is installed normally.
When opening Viber for the first time, I get this welcome screen :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But I cannot continue after that screen because Viber will freeze and become nonresponsive (forcing me to force-close the app).
I've tried several methods to diagnose the problem (including:
- deleting viber cache and viber data.
- removing viber and reinstalling it.
- doing a fabric restore).
Sofar the problem still occurs.
Can anyone verify if Viber works correctly on the Moto G (2014) dualsim phone (XT1068)?
I'm beginning to suspect that Viber cannot cope with dualsim phones (even though I have currently only one SIM-card inserted in my phone).
I'm also beginning to suspect that this might be because of the notorious MotoG memory management problem...
Bump: Nobody with an XT1068 stock kitkat who can verify Viber startup for me?
I have the XT1068 (retgb) with stock KitKat I have just installed Viber and I am able to click 'continue', on the next screen it asks for my phone number but because I don't want to sign up to Viber I cannot see if I can progress any further, I have two SIMs in my phone but only SIM 2 was turned on at the time of testing.
Hope that helps, I have no idea why you cannot progress past the first 'continue'.

OK Google detection options grayed out (sometimes)

On every rom I've tried so far, the OK Google voice command sometimes works from the lock screen, sometimes not. When I go to check the settings for voice control, the"Always on" and "Personal results" are grayed out and obviously I can't use OK Google from the lock screen. But then sometime later the options are back and no longer grayed out. It works when it wants to and I have no control over it.
Is this a known bug? Or is there some custom rom setting that's interfering with voice detection? Very strange.
I thought it depended on whether the device was charging or not

No it doesn't. The Nexus 6 has the always listening feature like the Moto X. It's just weird that's been broken on 3 different roms.

Anyone have an issue where the 1st time you initiate the okay Google command that it brings up an unsuccessful web search? I have to initiate it a second time and it works. If I uninstall the Google search update everything works fine. Only when I update it do I run into this issue.
try wiggling these toggles? might help?

Actually yes, I have done that. But it's only a temporary fix. I don't see why, after wiping my device 3 times, and it still keeps happening. When I switch roms, I make sure to do a complete wipe from twrp (factory reset, then advanced and hand select wipes except internal storage, then wipe cache and dalvik before reboot into new rom) I don't understand why 3 different roms have the same issue.
At this point, I'm so happy with Candy rom that I can overlook this issue, but it's just nice if everything would work as intended.

Kindle Fire HD 7 2012 version Launcher Debug on startup

Hi
I know mykindle is old but my autistic son uses it and he cannot handle change thus still using it.
I have no idea how this has happened at all. BUt now it seems when I reboot the device, the notifications bit has a notice saying "tap to access launcher debug settings".
When I tap this it takes me to those settings (which I have never seen before in any of the settings area) and I can quit out of it.
Why is this happening and is it a sign of a bigger problem?
Just to be clear, while I do have ADB enabled (in case I brick it and need to use kindle-unbrick in the future) nothing else is unusual. It is not rooted and I have never put a custom rom/system/launcher on it at all.
I can only guess that this change has accurred because either a game I have installed has tweaked something, or, a particular tablet-crash has pushed this into being.
So is it a problem? Can I stop it? Why has it happened?
Any thoughts would be massively appreciated please.
Thank you.
Alex
Hello. Sorry for the late reply. Anyways, I'm happy to help you. I also use a Kindle Fire HD 7 2012, so you can expect the best results. IDK the reason of the problem, it appeared in the same way as yours. But the fix is so simple, take a closer look at it:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Long-tap at the notification (some program appeared at the top, don't pay attention to it):
Tap "Manage Notification", as the arrow above suggests.
So, you must have the same screen, applications may differ. Tap the "Off" toggle in the right corner after the "Launcher", as arrow suggests, and go to the home screen. When you will look at notifications, a message must disappear.
If you experience any further problems, let me know. I'll try to respond in my free time.
And thank you for posting the question, without it I couldn't solve it (really).
Have a nice day!
HTH,
