Hello guys i finally was able to install a custom ROM in my exhibit 4G SGH-T759 and im happy with it
I found a kernel update for ROMS who use kernel 2.6.35.7 and mine uses that so i was thinking can i try this kernel out without hardbricking my phone , if it get's softbrick it is not a problem since i know how to flash the stock rom but for a hardbrick i can't do anything
On the forum where ive found the kernel update the post says that "This kernel will probably only work with roms based on kernel 2.6.35.7" so it should work with mine right ??
And sorry i know that this forum is for the newest galaxy exhibition 4G but i was not able to find a forum for the old version
Thanks

For who own the SHW-M380S Korean Tab 10.1 3G, I already found out the 3.2 stock rom for it (it takes me longtime) and I would share with you. The link download is below:

This device actually is able to be upgraded with the CWM p7500 roms and its stock kernel. I'm using Overcome 2.1 rom with only one issue regarding the brightness level cannot adjust. The CWM recovery for this device (thank pershoot) and its stock kernel are attached.
I am not good at hex and linux coding, so I appreciate if any developers could help me (and people own this device) to fix my stock kernel to make it is suitable with CWM roms and able to be overclocked. Thanks alot in advance.
Is there anyone can help me??

Korean Tab 10.1
Having the same model and having problems flashing roms too. Hope we have a solution for this.
why? I mean you can completely turn your device into P7500 model by flashing the given bootloader in pershoot's CWM thread, if u worry about the scrolling screen issue when using CWM recovery, flash the P7500 bootloader will surely fix that, I have an SHW-M380K, the 3g model and did these above, ran ICS nightly smooth like hell, and any other rom with any kennel.
Correct me if im wrong but i think these devices have the same hardware set, just the bootloader make them think they're different.
Hey guys.I need help to make a custom kernel for s5830i so that Cyanogen Mod 7.2 can be runned for this device.CM is ported at some stage but it has many bugs.Is there anyone who can help with this?Need a stable kernel.

I'm helping 4PDA and the kernel from there is only with init.d.We need overclocked one.I posted thread here cuz there are many great developers in XDA and we need to get as many help as we can get to make CM working.
There is one overclocked kernel from s5630 (galaxy Y) but I don't know if it works on 5830i..

I'm using (MODEM) Galaxy Y, and it works perfect, I had to do this because I had upgraded my modem by a European and Brazil lacked 3G band.
Now test the kernel of Y can be dangerous and do turn my phone brick.
if something goes wrong I'm no way to download the flash odin3 am I right?
1.Testing a kernel cannot brick your phone.(a 4PDA galaxy Y developer said this)The kernel should run to 5830 cuz the hardware is exactly the same which is the point. The display camera etc. is not connected with the kernel itself.I have not tested it but the guy claimed it can't brick the phone. If it fail working you can just flash boot.img(the stock kernel itself via Odin 1.85)
2.You can use a PDA.tar part of a firmware only the PDA which I have posted somewhere in the threads for s5830i and you will have your phone working. You can try using a firmware from samfirmware.com with a .pit file for galaxy Y which samo ppl said is working with the firmware for 5830i(I haven't tried it yet)
so the point is that if the kernel fail you can revive the phone. You can get boot-loop or stuck at samsung logo but you'll have a working download and recovery mode.
But you know it has always a chance that the procedure can fail and your phone gets bricked!!The other thing is that if you flash custom kernel I think the binary counter will change to 1 and I'm afraid that you can lose your warranty. So be careful.

I tried it. I think it's boot (play sound on start, then short vibration), but there is "samsung galaxy ace 5830i" on screen, My PC install new drivers for GT-S5630 Odin see 2 COM ports. Download mode works, recovery don't.
I think that there is no our screen driver in this kernel, or this kernel not support our resolution.
when i tried to boot it second time, there was no sound, but it blinked by flashlight, i think it was instead of vibration...
custom rom countor not matter for me, it's 24 now
i'm planning to make usb jig
sorry for my english

Maybe it will be usefull to ask kernel Mark-OS sources and config?
Flashing a kernel can kill your phone!! If it is overclocked strangely with bizarre voltages your ace could be permanently killed. I wouldnt go freely flashing kernels for other phones

I've since become a Galaxy Ace 5830i and just noticed that there is no kernel for this phone and no custom Roms ... Will it give CyanogenMod for that Phone?
I tried to make something but it don't work so I gave up because don't have time to make a kernel..And I need alot to read to make it happen because I'm not very familiar with android.Actually there is CM 7.2 made by Hayemaker from 4PDA.Bug it has many bugs which I really don't have a clue how to fix so any help is apreciated

How can I help to build a custom kernel for Ace 5830i... What can I do?
is that one init.d supported kernel posted over here completely works ??
as no wifi , camera and other problems right ?
There is a init.d script which is working posted on 4PDA by finist1.
There are people who say it's working. But I myself haven't tried it so don't know if it works..

download cpu spy from market and if it says some percentage in deep sleep or its unused ??
also can you just give that init.d kernel give it a try as i am using it as base currently to get bacis files out
Waiting for an answer in 4pda.They'll tell me if it's working and is there any bugs.I have flashed it myself. No init.d file in proc foldier. But my custom binery counter is at 1.I don't see any difference.Where have you seen this deep sleep bug?No such thing on my phone.Everything works fine as usual...
cpu spy shows:

Read, read, read. That's what sticky posts are for in android development.
There's a sticky in the development section that will tell you all you need to know. Just flash a safe gb or ics kernel before changing roms.
Sent from my Paranoid Android GT-N7000. It doesn't get much better than this!

Hey, I also Will be getting my Note in the morning (just came from the HTC One S forums)
This hard brick issue worries me too. Is ICS official for the Note now ? And what are my chances of receiving it with ICS not GB ?
Is it as simple as you say ? Flash a safe Kernel then away I go ? I know how to use ODIN, Used it a million times for the SGS1, I just have this uncontrollable urge to use a custom ROM the moment i get my new phones lol, I'm not a big fan of stock to be honest.
Thanks guys ! Looking forward to being a part of this community
Only one way to brick your phone: Full wipe through CWM on ICS official and affected kernels, read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943
Use Abyss kernel 3.9 - 4.2 for wipe.
Hi friends,
1.I have an Xperia X8.I have recently unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone.I wanted to install CM 7.1(shakira).So,I downloaded the ROM from the official cyanogenmod website.I read in one of the post that it works only with the kernel FXP30.After searching for a long time(because most of the links are dead) ,i finally found one.I flashed the kernel by using the flashtool provided by androxyde.Through the recovery mode,i flashed the cm7.1.It said flashing was successful. But after rebooting,it shows only "free xperia project" and nothing else happens...I tried cleaning the dalvik cahe, wiped the partition, did a factory reset. But no use...Is there any way to get it working? or am i doing anything wrong?
2.is MINI JB 4.2 better than CM 7.1?since i failed installing CM,i have flashed mini jb 4.2...but i want to install CM7.1 so badly...
Thanks in advance ....

1. FXP30 Kernel??? LOL never heard of that one before.
Any way since I have never heard of that kernel before it probably is pretty old and unsupported. Try using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362585 with this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484 .
2. Do you mean JB Mini Project ROM? Because that ROM is Android 4.1.2 and not 4.2. Witch one is better depends on what you want. JB Mini Project has a lot more features and a lot more apps are compatible with it since it is a JB ROM, and any CM7 based ROM would be faster but there would be less apps compatible with it.

Thanks for replying ....I'll try that ASAP....
Hi guys
I recently brought a 2nd hand n7000
This rom is totally stock, to be precise, it is a Hong Kong version 4.0.4
Since I want to improve the battery life and have a more defined rom.
I would like to root and install CWM.
Up to now, I understand that there's the infamous brick kernels out there. And I probably need to stay away from ICS.
But because of my n7000 is 2nd hand, i don't know much history about it.
i can not know for sure, that this n7000 is shipped with GB or ICS at the first place?
Or the last guy actually upgrade it from a GB.
My research in this forum tells me it's always better to start with the JB aka 4.1.2 stock.
My question is can i simply flash a HK 4.1.2 as a base without doing all sort of EMMC checking?
Then, flash kernel comes with root & CWM? And finally my rom of choice?
I would like someone could guide me and show me the SAFE way,
Thx in advance!!
Ya.. You can upgrade to JB.. Use of Odin or Kies. Then use Philz kernel to root and get cwm. Now you may proceed with custom roms.
Thx for answering.
I have successfully upgraded my n7000 to JB
it's ZSLR1 (Hong Kong latest stock JB)
Just one more question about rooting.
Can you help me check if this is the correct kernel?
philz_touch_6.19.3-n7000.zip
from http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n7000
I am planning to use the stock recovery method.
I am too afraid to brick this n7000 with "wrong" kernel
THX

That kernel is fine if you plan to flash another 4.1.2 or touchwiz based ROM. If you plan on upgrading to kit kat or 4.3jb custom ROMs, you will need raw kernel instead.
