Not a problem, it happens to the best of us
As for your issue, are you doing this for a locked or unlocked boot? Which kernel are you flashing?

Don't do that
Flash the latest 4.4.4 FTF and root using newroot.
It will root and add recovery for you

You should not be hotbooting it
Flash the kernel.
You also do not want to boot the phone. It wont boot anyway, its a custom kernel and stock ROM.
You need to enter recovery in order to flash the update.zip and install your rom
Also make sure you are in fastboot mode (Blue LED) not flashmode (Green LED)

No, then you are in recovery
Fastboot mode is done while the phone is off, you attach the phone to the PC using USB cable and keep the volume down button pressed.
Recovery is entered by turning the phone on (It does not matter if its connected to the PC or not) and keep pressing the volume up (Or down) button when you get the boot logo

[Q] XT890 Flash custom image\recovery after unlocking

Hi,
My phone wasn't rooted prior to JB upgrade. I'm currently on 91.2.26001.XT890.Retail.en.EU
I've successfully unlocked bootloader but now I'm facing a problem when I'm actually trying to flash custom recovery -> rom:
a) I don't have CWM \ TWRP recovery
b) Clearly I'm not rooted
c) While in phones fastboot stock recovery option just restarts my phone (as well as factory - I assume it's tied to factory reset).
Phone itself works completely fine.
I'm kinda stuck and in need of help.
Thanks in advance!

Requires SU (as mentioned in RAZRi_Recovery_Flasher.bat)
And I'm not rooted. I've tried to do it manually step-by-step acoording to bat file, but in the end I get an error on this stage:
Code:
adb shell "su -c 'dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6'"
Why don't you flash CWM in fastboot mode? It's that easy... Download here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974097
command: fastboot flash recovery name-of-revovery.img
Then simply reboot to CWM and flash RazriRoot2.zip
After that boot up normally, check root, boot into fastboot and flash CWM again -> done.
The last step is neccessary as CWM will be one time overwritten after rooting.

I have no idea how to flash CWM in fastboot mode. I've done following procedure:
got cwm.img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41479852
Sent phone to fastboot, making sure device is connected done that in cmd:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
And no result. I mean it gives out info that copying and stuff is OKAY, but there are no changes after reboot.
Or I'm terribly missing something.

You must not boot normally!
Switch directly from fastboot to recovery and then you are in.
Flash RazriRoot2 from CWM, boot up normally, then again boot into fastboot and flash CWM a second time.
[edit]
You did it right, but you must not boot into normal system after 1st flashing
So again the steps:
- put RazriRoot2 onto SD card
- boot to fastboot
- flash recovery
- directly after that enter CWM recovery
- flash RazriRoot2 from CWM
- boot normally into system, check root
- boot into fastboot again
- flash CWM 2nd time
- reboot, done.

I fastbooted image, disconnected my usb. Then I choose recovery - aaaaaaaaaand it just goes black (shutdowns apparently). When I turn it on - I get stock loading, etc.
I'm confused.
Same thing happens when I do fastboot reboot-bootloader.
So my main issue here is how to get into CWM after actually flashing it, I guess.

Man... do I have to SHOUT??!!
Read my last description, step by step!
NO REBOOT, NO DISCONNECT, JUST ENTER CWM AFTER FLASHING!!
and IF phone shuts down, then go DIRECTLY to fastboot again with Power/VOL- and release Power immediately during(!) vibration with keeping VOL- pressed.

Alright, I'll sound completely dumb, but how do I do I enter CWM recovery after flashing? Recovery option in phones fastboot doesn't do anything for me. Or is there any magic combo?

Well... VOL- navigates and VOL+ selects.
Are you sure your device is connected? I have the same ROM base as you. When I enter fastboot mode, there is a black screen with some blue options. Do nothing, cable Phone to USB and check with fastboot devices if you are connected.
Then flash the CWM (try my link posted above).
After flashing just press VOL- one time to select "Recovery" then enter CWM with VOL+
That's it?!

As I wrote the last post I thought of that you maybe tried to enter with Power...
Then alright, glad it works now!
But don't forget to flash CWM a second time after rooting, otherwise RAZRi will "forget" CWM and install its own recovery again when you booted up. This must be only done once.
Don't feel bad

From what I've read so far your bootloader is unlocked. And now you've flashed a stock rom. How full was your battery when you flashed the file? Maybe it run out of juice? Does your pc recognice the phone?

help please- locked bootloader, fastboot woes

picked up a Z1 and went straight to rooting it.
rooted succesfully, installed the dualrecovery, and then attempted ot install VANIR only to realize that i did not unlock the bootloader.
so it will not turn on. holding power it vibrates every 2 seconds. plugged in it does teh same, but also blinks red.
i can get the computer to recognize it several different ways.
blue led- fastboot interface in device manager - not detected in adb devices
red/green/blank led - SOMC flash - no adb
PC companion is no go.
I have no idea where to go from here. I am currently downloading flashtool to see where that gets me, but I was hoping someone might have some direct and well known solution that i did not uncover in my searching..
Thanks

He will not be able to enter recovery because dual recovery is system based which he cannot get to as its now trying to boot a custom kernel with a locked bootloader.
Also the recovery on a custom kernel is in the kernel, which also cannot boot. Hence a bootloop with no chance of recovery mode
The solution should be easy enough
Flash a stock FTF for your device using flashtool

Look in the general section for a sticky thread called FTF mega collection for the best FTF file for you.
Once you have flashed that then you should* root, then unlock the boot following the official sony instructions (http://bit.ly/1cebNlh).
once you have done that flash the boot.img of the rom you want to flash using fastboot them flash the update.zip in recovery
*The reason to root before unlocking the boot is to backup the DRM keys in your TA partition. If you do not do that you lose them forever.

BOOTLOOP Green Light/Red Light with Sony Logo

Help (
So I am a newbie in flashing a rom. I got bootloop multiple times. But Sony Companion's "repair my phone/tablet" helped me a lot in restoring my phone.
I'm asking you guys for help because Sony Companion can't help me anymore.
Reason why I got bootlooped:
So I flashed Stryflex Rom successfully.
>I was about to flash supersu to get root access
>I opened Flashtool
>I accidentally clicked the stock rom .207
>It Failed
>Tried to boot my phone, and there's only a green flicker, sony logo, then it shuts down.
>Tried to plug my phone to a pc, and there's only a Green Light for about a minute. and a red light with sony logo for 10 seconds and shuts down again. It repeats all over again and again til I unplug my phone
Tried Solution:
So I used Pc companion's "repair my phone/tablet" and it only says "theres a different sofware in the device" so it wont continue.
I need everyone's help badly. It's been days I'm not using any phone (

You need Flashtool mainly for flashing the stock ROM,
For flashing custom ROMs, kernels, mods and other zips, you need to use a Recovery like TWRP/Philz.
Since you used a 5.1 ROM, I assume you already unlocked your Bootloader.
Download this.
Make sure your installed Flashtool version is either 0.9.18.5 or 0.9.18.6 and you've installed the drivers.
Open Flashtool
Click 'Flash' button
Select 'fastboot mode'
Turn off phone (Use the yellow button on the back to force shutdown the phone if needed),
hold volume up button and connect usb
Select 'Reboot into fastboot'
'Select kernel to Flash'
Browse and select the desired kernel.elf
It will start flashing the kernel,
Close Flashtool after flashing is successful.
Now when you start the phone, you'll get access to TWRP by pressing the vol. down button on Tangerine splashscreen.
From TWRP,
Do a full wipe, then flash ROM, GApps, SuperSU etc that you need.

That error shouldn't have come. Either you didn't unlock your bootloader or somehow the unlocking process finished with an error.
Try flashing stock ROM again.
Then follow DooMLoRD's tutorial to unlock your Bootloader.
Then follow what I said in post #2.
I am certain that I unlocked my bootloader. I flashed strylfex which is a lollipop rom right? I don't know that to do anymore.

I see.
But since flashing kernel directly from Fastboot isn't working, the only thing you can do is flash Stock ROM again.
Need instructions on flashing stock?
Tried to flash stock rom and it worked! Great help sir Zenith. I learned a lot.

You need Flashtool mainly for flashing the stock ROM,
For flashing custom ROMs, kernels, mods and other zips, you need to use a Recovery like TWRP/Philz.
Since you used a 5.1 ROM, I assume you already unlocked your Bootloader.
Download this.
Make sure your installed Flashtool version is either 0.9.18.5 or 0.9.19.8 and you've installed the drivers.
Open Flashtool
Click 'Flash' button
Select 'fastboot mode'
Turn off phone (Use the yellow button on the back to force shutdown the phone if needed),
hold volume up button and connect usb
Select 'Reboot into fastboot'
'Select kernel to Flash'
Browse and select the desired kernel.elf
It will start flashing the kernel,
Close Flashtool after flashing is successful.
Now when you start the phone, you'll get access to TWRP by pressing the vol. down button on Tangerine splashscreen.
From TWRP,
Do a full wipe, then flash ROM, GApps, SuperSU etc that you need.

Help (
So I am a newbie in flashing a rom.

Am also facing this problems and I was flash the mobile with stock ROM but it was ended with an error of system sin .......what can I do.
Thankx in advance for who helps me......
I am also facing same problem...and when I try to put in fastboot mode it automatically restart and stuck in boot logo..
Please help me ...
Thanks in advance
Got the same problem with my Xperia SP.
I can connect it to Flashtool, either Flash mode or Fastboot. I can flash any kernel in Fastboot mode (didn't try FTF yet). I was on 8.1 AOSP when it happened, I guess some app made the phone reboot and emptied the battery (only guess as my wife was using it when it happened)
I tried to flash DoomKernel 13 and Tangerine 7 or the Oreo kernel again. I always got : quick display of the kernel logo, then screen off, then green light. After a while, it reboots, red light for a while then green light.
If I press Vol+, I go into fastboot with blue light.
I think the 8.1 kernel doesn't let the phone charge while off, and the two others won't work with this system and enter a bootloop ?
I'm looking for a way to restore my phone without erasing the whole thing. Any idea ? Otherwise, I'll put an FTF;;;
flash a stock ftf file using an xperia flashtool. the green light indicates the phone is in flashmode

I've tried that, no luck.
I can flash the FTF, after that I can either boot in fastboot mode (blue led), or in flashmode (green). If I try to boot into system, best thing I get it the Sony logo for a short while and a reboot, leading into the "battery low" mode (red led). If I unplug it, I press either Vol+ of Vol- and I'm back into fastboot or flashmode.
Tried to write recovery or kernel, works but does nothing more. I let it charge forever, doesn't work.
I really don't know what is the problem here, it's almost unbrickable ! And I didn't even do anything, I think it just ran out of battery and can't charge anymore. Was running an Oreo ROM, stable for months.

Final Solution ROM bricked(?) my phone?

Hi,
I just installed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development/final-solution-rom-lbl-t3073678
Everything went fine. I did all the steps. After installing the ROM and the fixes I chose system reboot from CWM Recovery. Since then I can't turn my phone on. If I press the power button there is a short vibration, but nothing happens.
1. Tried to reset with the button on the back of the phone. No go.
2. Tried all the button combination but can't even get back to recovery.
3. If I connect it to my computer then the led goes green and windows gives me that sound when you connect something new, but after 10 seconds the led turns off and I get the other sound for dismounting device. No diver can see it, neither flashtool does.
4. It doesn't charge. Well, at least the led does not turn on so I guess it's not charging.
Any idea?
You have a kernel problem, Flash with Flashtool the kernel of your rom in fastboot mode (Volume +, and connect your usb cable) with flashtool or if that don't available, flash a stock kernel in fastboot mode (Volume + and connect your usb cable at your phone), when it's flashed, restart your phone

From where can I get a proper kernel? Does it matter that it has locked bootloader?
Also which flashtool should work?

Normally, you can flash the kernel included in your rom, it's a file name boot.img, flashtool is good i think, can you send error messages with flashtool if you have any messages

I double checked that it works for locked bootloaded. It's even the name of the thread: [Final Solution ROM][UBL/LBL][V2][ODEXED for extreme smoothness][William's Kernel]
So the issue now is that I can't even install the driver (windows 10) as the device is being disconnected after 10 seconds of plugging in. I got the tft file now for the stock kernel and installed flashtool but it can't detect the phone (in that 10 secs), it says that driver is missing. Tried the C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe and selected the necessary drivers but it never succeeds. Attached the screenshot of the failure of installing the drivers.

OK, I'm getting closer. Thank you so far.
So drivers are installed. Computer can detect phone. All I can't do is to boot my phone to fast boot. It's always in flash mode not fast boot. I'm trying to power on and pushing the volume down, but no go.
Code:

26/049/2015 21:49:32 - INFO - Now plug your device in Fastboot Mode

OK, to be honest I don't get any of that. What is towelroot, how to install super su and how to update its binary? Also what do you mean "let it load" (ftf)?
I have to mention that the bootloader is locked because it can't be unlocked.

Yeah i know that your bootloader is not unlockable, by ftf loading i mean that select .ftf you want to flash first and wait until it prepares and prompts you to connect the phone, btw last flashtool that works with sp is flashtool-0.9.18.6 , if you will have problem with understanding that try to search how to flash ftf on xperia sp on youtube i hope you will get it eventually
towelroot is an app from geohot you can get it here https://towelroot.com/ it can root your device
super su is an app on google play it is free and it controls root apps, in other words it grants or denies root access, once you will gain root with towelroot, open super su and it will prompt you to update binary just select normal and it will work

I have version 0.9.19.10. And I can't select the file before I connect the phone with fastboot. The file has to be selected after. This is the tutorial I try to follow:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXTzA7Qrrv4
So my problem is still that I can't get into fastboot to flash the kernel. So towelroot and super su are not my options until I can't get into the system.
Any other clue on how to get it flashed?

you cant use fastboot with your bootloader locked that is the point there is NO WAY of flashing custom kernel with bootloader locked or you will brick your device, only way to flash kernel on lbl is to flash stock kernel in your case WITH FLASHTOOL TROUGH FLASHMODE

I understand what you are saying. But flashtool doesn't let me flash kernel in flash mode.
So it's a catch 22? After all this means that it's already bricked, isn't it?

You are not trying to flash kernel only, but that is possible too, you are trying to flash whole stock firmware.
Yes your phone is bricked because you flashed custom kernel on LBL.
Download some .205 or .207 firmware from android development section of xperia sp xda forum and flash it with flashtool.
There are plenty of tutorials online, i dont mean to be rude but you just must try and understand it yourself.
Here you have link for firmwares http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964
just flash the ftf and phone should be ok, if you will be succesfull i can help you with rooting and flashing something suitable for locked bootloader xperia sp
Good luck

Wait a sec. It seems I could flash the kernel in flash mode.
It was keep disconnecting but finally the sony logo appeared and it booted to the system. It doesn't work properly, and it's very slow, but now I can get into CWM. Do you have any suggestion which ROM should I install on it?
