Help resetting my m8 for warranty screen replacement with htc - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I unlocked bootloader with HTC.dev token and gained s off using sunshine and flashed viper, two days later I broke my screen. Called htc about the advantage screen replacement and have to send it in to them. So anyway I've gone back to my stock back up but I am confused on wether or not I have to update firmware because I was up to date. I was having trouble flashing the ruu so I can ota. Please help if you can any help would be great

Not promising the same, but I sent in my device with custom recovery s-off and got a replacement.

If you want to go back totally stock, look at the thread in the link below:

[Q] Need to 'reset' my n1 - go back to stock and re-lock

I have an N1 that is rooted and has CM6 on it. My employer wants the phone back so I need to put stock 2.2 on this puppy and re-lock the phone.
is this possible -- if so, how?
Tell you what... its a company phone.
If you want test something for us. Flash the Holiday HBOOT file to the nexus one and see if it removes the lock system on the phone or atleast the security so you can relock it .
Please oh please try it
nothing like that - they don't care. It's not under warranty anyway.
They just want the phone back and I thought I'd re-stock it.

Just flash original passimg file, don't worry about the unlocked bootloader. Your work wont know the diferrence.

I thought all nexus ones were under a one year warranty. Or is that only in the USA?

[Q] HTC Dev/Tampered question

Ok, have searched couldn't find any information about my question directly. Am looking at unlocking my first HTC device (My Samsungs were so much easier...not easier but less complicated) and have a question in relation to the warranty and the process of unlocking as first time have to deal with the Tampered flag and HTC Dev.
Unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty but now that there is S-off you can get rid of the tampered flag. But you still have to have to use HTC Dev to unlock the bootloader. So won't HTC have a log of you doing this and can void your warranty irrespective if you get rid of the tampered flag and relock the phone? As am from Australia may not deal with HTC direct but you never know.
Well, requesting an Unlock_code.bin from HTCDev doesn't mean you're gonna use it and HTC will never know if you'd use the token or not. So, imho I think warranty should be fine as long as you set your bootloader to "locked" status before sending it for service.
You don't need to go through HTCDev if you use revone.
hello there , im new to htc but have read a lot about rooting and unlocking , so i was getting excited to root my new HTC ONE which i bought from Dubai just few days ago , anjd b4 doing anything and just going to the bootloader there was my surprise!!!! it says " tampered and unlocked" shudnt this be only if i unlocked it personally????, and adding to my surprise when i wanted to check the stock recovery which it turned out to be CWM ,, now im wondering , does this come with a new Fon or does it mean the Seller sold me a used Fon?

The boot loader being unlocked could possibly be wherever you bought it installing third party software, but no new phone will come with CWM Recovery.

Tmobile warranty practices for unlocked HTC one

Does anyone know tmobile position on warranty replacements on unlocked devices being returned? And what has to be done for tmobile or HTC to initiate a warranty replacement?

Probably be wise to go the S-Off route so you can LOCK the bootloader and not RE-LOCKED?
Can you relock it without the stock RUU+
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
No RUU is needed unless you've installed a custom ROM as well. Either use the RUU or restore from a stock nandroid for your CID, then flash the stock recovery, and lock it with revone
Any luck?
I'm having some hardware issues with my HTC one, but I'm afraid to send it to TMobile for exchange as I flashed the bootloader with the GPE, and I don't know how to restore all they way back to stock (and might be risky).

It's not risky as long as you follow the directions. Just use the RUU and it will overwrite everything. You still have to change the bootloader status with revone or something.

Actually it was a pretty easy process by following the following guide and some xda posts http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/
It really depends what's wrong with your phone. Unlocking your bootloader does NOT automatically void your warranty. I don't understand how that paranoia was allowed to spread so quickly and so far. I once took an HD2 back to T-Mobile running ANDROID on it. The guy just said "that's awesome" and sent it in for warranty repair. I got it back with winmo again but still. Point is you should really just go ask. If all else fails THEN you can go through all the relocking and returning to stock steps...
And before we get all the usual responses of "warranty says.."" when you unlock it it says..." And so on and so on, warranties are made to protect the consumer, you. Not the manufacturer/carrier. Unless something you flashed on it specifically broke it. They have to honor the warranty.

Can I return to T-Mobile (US) stock everything?

Hey Guys,
So I am need of a bit of help and guidance. I currently have a HTC One 32Gb Silver from T-Mobile (US). I need to return my phone for warranty exchange but so far I have put several different roms, TWRP recovery, perm root, and obv unlocked bootloader. I need to return everything to how it was out of the box. I made a backup of my stock rom way back in May after I unlocked the bootloader. I know generally people would use an RUU but I do not think there is one for T-Mobile US. So I just need some guidance on how to put back factory recovery, and then relock bootloader without T-Mobile it was ever unlocked. I believe this can be achieved thru S-OFF then S-On back on again after you fix the "re-locked" and "tampered". If someone can walk me through how to properly do this and the files I would need I give you huge gratitude.

I can't walk you through the steps, but you'll find more assistance in the T-Mobile HTC One forum. The official T-Mobile RUU is actually available now and can be found here:

Gain Soff
Turn off the tamper stuff
Flash RUU
Everything will appear stock
once the new revone comes out you can go back to s-on and it really is all stock

Look at second post and follow his instructions...worked like a charm S-OFF and put back to S-ON is available now

Relock question

ALright, my previous m7 is sitting dead in forever bootloops... it's on the back burner until further notice.
so i got another one. stock all around. used. took the OTA for latest firmware and radios, exactly the same revision as the previous m7....
unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp, flashed good old cm11. worked good for a few weeks.
then i decided to try lineage 14/15. cm13, back and forth, over and a bout...
then running stabile in lineage14.1, i noticed i couldnt' make phone calls.
so i flashed back to cm11, LTE/4g shows up, data is good, but cannot make calls, cannot receive calls, same with text messages.
flashed back to the stock nandroid that the phone came with, same thing! only data, no voice/text.
so, in attempt to bring it back in for repair, i needed to relock the bootloader.
that's where it went ugly. it said relocked, tampered, and security warning, and i was unable to boot into anything else.
luckily i kept the unlock token ,and reissued an unlock, and it would let me boot into the rom again and the recovery, but i don't want to attempt to continue the RUU until i know exactly what steps are required.
i read the bootloader must be relocked before RUU, i also read if i was stuck where i was, in fastboot mode the RUU would still work, which it didnt..
help please!
thanks
Well, no one replied in time.
Asurion said it was covered under manufactures warranty. Zero deductible and a new HTC 10. And the old m7 was accepted tampered /unlocked.

Wow, nice. I tried to help, but you got outside of my knowledge level. I'm really glad you got a 10. It's a really nice device.
