I have seen some mentions that 4.2.2 gives better battery life than 4.4.3.
Has anyone doe any tests on this? If its a big change I'd have no problem flashing back to the 4.2.2 system and boot images.
No one?
I've never heard that. Lots of people get great battery life on either.
And downgrading is never recommended.

I am using a friend's old Bionic as a backup after my GNex broke and I am seeing Android OS reported as being very high in the stock Android usage Battery Meter - I don't see any major wakelocks in BBS either.
Anything that might cause this or anything I can freeze, disable, etc to fix this? Any other information I can provide that would be helpful?
Thanks in advance.

normal for bionic since ICS and JB...go with a rom or de-odexed...plus even it being on the high end its not really soaking up that much battery juice. its an overall of all the apps you have that need constant updating.

Any recommendations on a ROM? Is there a stock Bionic ROM that is de-odexed?
Also do you see an increase in battery life by switching to a ROM?
Thanks in advance.
As far as battery increase.. you might get a little increase. Eclipse rom has always been good. And liquid smooth. Its all trial and error. Use safestrap so you have stock rom saved. Use the the other slots to try different roms. Im using stock rom that's been de-odexed and debloated. Also have OEM extended battery 2760 mah. I consider myself a medium user. Can get me through the day no problem. BTW if you use juice defender to name one.. I don't care what anyone says .. any battery saving app out there is a joke.
Hello everyone. I finally bought the Sony Xperia ZR.
Currently I'm running android 4.3 and I'm having mixed thoughts about updating to android 4.4.4
I know the best way for me to find out which is more suited to my needs is by trying both of them out but I have limited net plan.
So could I have some suggestions. Anything at all.
Which one, in YOUR opinion has better battery life, multitasking, gaming and anything else you can think of.
Thank you :good:
Always update to latest. Don't think about battery and other stuff.
Update version means corrections on past problem with better solution. It's never changing process.
Good luck.

after 4.4.4 update, my phone is overheating very quickly like in 10 mins usage of facebook or whatsapp or youtube
4.3 was better. and because of overheating, the battery life is shortened.
For me at least, 4.4.4 is much better, it's a lot more responsive, and doesn't have the battery drain bug that 4.4.2 had. The battery life isn't as good as 4.3, I don't think, but I'm not sure, since I'm running Xposed with a whole bunch of modules, some of which take up a lot of RAM and battery. Still, overall, I think you should update.
Hello all, I am assuming other people have had this issue, but are there any roms out there that fix the battery life between the KitKat and Lollipop updates? My battery was amazing at first, I could come off battery in the am, and still be at 95% around noon to 1pm, but now it drains about 20% faster it seems (wild guess, but I very much do not like it.)
Let me know if anyone has come across a rom that has the awesome battery as KitKat had, otherwise I might just try and go back to that.
Thanks!
I'm currently finding myself in the same situation as you. I've been on 5.0.1 for a while, but my battery life has been pretty bad. I just haven't bothered to do anything about it until my son got a Moto G and can get 5.5-6 hours of SOT, and I'm struggling to get 2.5 lately.
I installed CM 12.1 nightly last night, and so far, it may actually be worse. I can't keep it anyways due to music playback bugs.
I was on TEKXodus N4 URv3.6R3 prior to switching. Like the ROM (as much as one can like a TW ROM), but didn't deliver battery life.
I actually came here tonight to read up on the KK downgrade routine and find a KK ROM and start that.

Well that is unfortunately not what I was hoping to hear, but it may just be worth downgrading. I do like the aesthetics and such, especially of 5.1.1 which I have on my Nexus 4, but I much prefer usability and battery that kitkat provided.
I'm sure I'm not alone in saying it's possible to get just as good battery life on LP as KK. I think you need to look at your setup, wakelocks, rogue apps, too many notifications or apps that constantly sync over the internet etc. Example: I lose 2% battery over night (8 hours).
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
Fwiw, I reverted to ank4 based FireKat and my battery life is back to great. 4 hours sot + 8 hours of music via slacker and/or Google.
People say you can good battery life on LP but I never could. I went through guide after guide, and none of it ever did anything for me. I'm also not going to cripple my phone for the sake of battery. I'd still like it to work.
I still am fond of my Moto X 2013, but the battery life is getting worse and worse.
Which custom ROMs are best for extending battery life? I'm far more interested in long battery life than in any other features, at this point.
I'm already using every trick I know of to reduce battery drain (not even collecting e-mail any more on my phone, for example).
Thanks.
I too had the same problem but solved now . I tried many custom ROM's but can't fix that problem. Then found that the problem is with kernal. Then tried stock 4.4.4 with custom kernal (excellent battery life + doesn't over heating) kernal= zwliew (thanks man). No need to tweak anything. Just flash and forgot the kernal. That kernal itself super tweaked.
As long as you don't flash a lollipop ROM, you'll get decent battery life. You can boost that with a custom kernel, or with Greenify/Powernap/Amplify.
Thank you for your help, gowtham nkg and EmilianoTalamo.
One question: did you downgrade from 5.1 to 4.4.4? I had thought that at some point, you could no long downgrade. I'm sure the info is on this forum, but since we're on the topic, I thought I'd be lazy and just ask you guys.

Stock 4.4.4 excels in battery, specially if you tweak it some. Other than that and you'll most likely get battery issues, especially on 5.1
Seems like many have received the 6.0.1 update on android one devices as well. Has it improved the battery life compared to the drain issues on 6.0 or is it the same.
a little better, but ... flash thunderzap kernel or cody`s ..and you`ll get around 320-25 for a full charge ..
It's Worse
The battery life reduced drastically after i upgraded to 6.0.1. Especially the screen off time.
